† BUSSELL Daniel Thomas Bussell age 62 of Ionia passed

away October 5, 2020 in Ionia. He was born February 14, 1958 in Ionia, MI the son of Tom and Norma (Handlon) Bussell. Dan was a graduate of Ionia Highschool class of 1976. He owned and operated Coryell Trucking along with his step father Ken and later on his own.

He enjoyed wood working, fishing in his pond and spending time with his family especially his grand-daughters.

Dan is survived by his significate other, Sandi Pearce of Ionia; daughters, Sarah Bussell of Lowell and Danielle (Matt) Borup of Ionia.

Father Tom Bussell of Ionia. Granddaughters Hannah and Braelynn Faylor. Brother David Bussell and Lisa of Greenville. Sister Debbie (Roeding) Lauck of Kent, Ohio. Step-sisters and brothers; Kay (Jeff) Baker of Ionia, Kelly Law of Arizona Kim Coryell and Willy of Ionia, Kim (Roberta) Delo of St. Johns, Robin Delo of Dewitt, Calvin Delo of St. Johns and Brad Delo of Dewitt.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Norma Coryell, Step-father Ken Coryell and Step-mother Nettie Bussell.

Funeral Services will be held at Shiloh Community Church, Saturday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Gift of Life, Michigan Heart Association or Ionia 4-H. Rex’s illness the last six years prevented him from enjoying great-grandchildren: Finnley Vada and Maizey Ace Glantz of Las Vegas, NV; and Dexter Randall Glantz of Philadelphia, PA. Rex also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.

A celebration of Rex’s life was held at North Syracuse Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse handled arrangements for the family.

Celebrate Halloween with Portland District Library: Portland District Library is trying something new this October with Spooky Reads, an all-ages video series featuring picture book favorites, scary stories that make your spine tingle, and downright terrifying tales of horror. Portland District Library is here to help you decorate for Halloween this year with Haunted Crafting.

Crafters, ages 6-12, will have two opportunities to make fun festive décor to last throughout the season. Celebrate Halloween with the Portland District Library at our Haunted Halloween. This multi-day event will take place on the library lawn and will include masks and social distancing. Basements may not be go-to hangouts during spring, summer and fall, when many homeowners spend more time on their patios and decks enjoying the great outdoors. But as winter approaches and the great outdoors becomes less welcoming, basements once again become popular places to relax and spend time with loved ones. That’s why fall is such an ideal time to address mold issues in a basement. According to WebMD, exposure to mold can irritate a person’s eyes, nose, throat, and lungs. That’s true whether a person is allergic to mold or not. Even people who are merely sensitive to mold can experience sneezing and runny nose, and some may even develop red eyes and skin rash if exposed to mold.

Reactions are much more severe for people with mold allergies, who may experience shortness of breath or suffer from asthma attacks if exposed to mold. Molds require moisture to grow, and basements may provide ideal growing conditions for mold.

Mold spores cannot grow without moisture, so dehumidifiers can help homeowners effectively reduce the risk of mold growth in their basements. WebMD advises homeowners keep indoor humidity levels, which can be measured with an inexpensive instrument known as a hygrometer, below 60 percent. In lieu of wall-to-wall carpeting in basements, install concrete floors and area rugs to make mold growth less likely.

Basement floors also should be routinely inspected for leaks, as leaks can promote mold growth.
