OBITUARIES
† DIPZINSKI Jane Leigh (Hoeberling) Dipzinski, otherwise known affectionately as “Dip”, left this world to be with her Lord on September 15, 2022. Jane was born March 20, 1943 to Carl Hoeberling and Lucy (Roberts) Hoeberling in Detroit, Michigan. She married Ben Dipzinski July 1, 1961 in Gaylord, Michigan after he charmed the city girl from Detroit, as she told it, with his handsome good looks. Together they raised three children Janie (Gary) Bushong of Ionia and Pompano Beach, FL, Ben (Dawn) Dipzinski of Stuart, FL, and Kari Jones of Ionia. She loved her grandchildren beyond measure and never missed an opportunity to brag about them or spend time with them, whether in person or with a phone call. She was known as “Grandma Dip” by her adoring grandchildren who loved her deeply. Garret (Taryn) Bushong, Grant Bushong (Audrey Castro), Bennett, Connor and Aubrey Dipzinski, Katie and Kyle Jones. We know Dip had a hand in sending us her first great grandchild Preslee Shay Bushong, born on September 17, 2022. Jane leaves behind her only sibling who she adored and admired, Carl (Mickey) Hoeberling of Banning, CA as well as her many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Bernie Dipzinski of Ashland, OH and sister-in-law Patricia Sides of Gaylord, MI. Jane was preceded in death by her husband Ben, granddaughter Natalie Dipzinski, and her parents.
Dip will be forever known as “The Lunch Lady”. She proudly wore that title at Ionia Public Schools for 36 plus years. She also took her job as a union steward for many years very seriously and was tenacious at working for the girls in the kitchen. We will miss our family Matriarch and Mother Pinochle, fun loving, no worries gal, but we take comfort in the many happy memories we have of her and the legacy she leaves us. Dip was a lifelong dog lover so in lieu of flowers please consider making a contribution to the Ionia County Animal Shelter.

† THALISON Justina M. Thalison (Stina), age 94, of 1063 E. David Highway, Ionia, MI, passed away peacefully in her home on September 22, 2022. She was born on March 6, 1928 in Orange Twp to Frank G. May and Mary E. Kramer. She married John Thalison on December 7, 1946 and had one son, Martin (Martin). Stina had many passions and enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, word searches, and music. She also enjoyed caring for her son and multiple black and white cats, most all of them called, “Tinker”.
In her younger years, Stina worked at the CF MacFarlane-Mitchell Bentley Corp. making the “station wagon”, right here in Ionia. She owned a home on Prospect Street and for many years she shared the large lot next to it with all of the neighborhood children. It became their “Sandlot” and many wonderful childhood memories were made there.
In her later years, Stina attended the Just Like Home Adult Day Center. Here she made many more friends and carried on her love of word searches and music, but also developed a new found interest in arts and crafts, bingo, Jenga, corn hole toss, and most of all, The Price is Right.

† WEAVER Thomas J Weaver, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2022. Tom was born in Ionia July 29, 1929 to Edward and Sylvia Weaver. He graduated from St Peter and Paul Catholic High School in 1948. In 1951 he was enlisted by the Army to serve his country (and lose his hearing) in Korea. After Korea he came back to Ionia and started working for General Motors in Lansing.
He eventually met and married Arlene J Reed in 1956. They were married for 58 years and had 4 children. While the boys were young, he coached little league. Tom was very active in the Catholic Church, and was on the First Parish Council. He served as Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and was on the council for the Southwest Columbia Squires. Tom was also a member of the VFW. Every Thanksgiving he would go up north with his buddies to go “hunting” which really meant playing cards and drinking beer. Tom loved to golf and would go on golf trips to Wisconsin with his sons. One of Tom’s greatest joys in life were his grandchildren. They had many memorable travels and outings, even if that just meant breakfast at Bosley’s Pharmacy.
After Arlene’s passing, he met and married Margaret Breckon in 2016 and gained 3 step daughters.
Surviving are his children, Marty (Randi), Jim (Tonetta), Greg (Lori), Carrie (Steve). Stepdaughters Suzie (Doug), Mary, and Sally (Randy). Sister Edna Keeney of Belding, sisters-in-law Pat Miller and Bev Weaver. And many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Thank You Letter from Michigan One Community Credit Union Retiring CEO Tim Hemenway
Thank you all for doing so much to make M1 so very successful. On October 1, 2022, I will officially retire, and Hailie Patterson will be your new M1 CEO. Please know Hailie is an upgrade!
The amazing opportunity to serve and serve with many-many wonderful people during my 31-year career at M1, has truly been a blessing to me. They include staff, volunteers, members, and community.
I have always considered all of you as “my people” and “the purpose of my work.”
For starters, I offer a special thank you to my family and friends. My family has always been supportive of my work at M1; especially my wife Jane. I know I bored her to tears enumerable times yammering on about what I thought were cool and exciting things happening at M1. Jane, you’re the best!
Thank you to my staff.
Over the years, I have been blessed with working alongside many gifted and talented people. They trusted me, they made me better than I was, and they always laughed at my jokes. (Somedays these things even came easy for them!)
Thank you to my volunteers.
M1 volunteers serve on the board of directors and committees as a way to give back to they communities. Over my career I was blessed with the opportunity to work with dozens of different M1 volunteers, with many of whom I developed a lasting and special bond. They always listened and cheered me on (i.e. they were very-very patient).
Thank you to my M1 members. They used M1 and entrusted their financial affairs to their credit union, its staff, and to me. I have always considered it a privilege and honor to serve you. Serving you made my work fulfilling.
Thank you to my communities. I have served in every community that M1 does business, and it held some of the greatest rewards of my career. That reward came in the form of kinships with those whom I served alongside. Some of you are now my best friends. Here, I also thank the many people within the credit union movement both at the state and national level with whom I served.
Thank you all again for a great 31-year ride. M1 will continue to be a great place to be. While I consider my work at M1 a success, I owe my career to others. All who know me know I have never had an original thought of my own, but only the good sense to surround myself with the brilliance of others by “standing on the shoulders of giants.” Cheers!
insured. 35 years experience. Call Tom Teunessen. 616-2182877.
