† HELMER

Randy Eugene Helmer, of Ionia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 2, 2024, at the age of 67 in Ionia, Michigan.

Randy was born on January 30, 1957, to Maynard and Barb Helmer of Ionia. Randy had several previous jobs and the one he enjoyed doing the most was flipping houses with his wife. He loved traveling and spending time up north. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, who gave him the nickname ‘Uncle Spunkle’ along with the great nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Holidays and family gatherings were very special to Randy (Christmas and Shopping). Easter egg hunts with the kids and silly string will always be remembered by all: Angie, Jessica, Staci, Joe, Katie, Nick, Holly, Kyle, Mike, Sara, Fischer, Jorden and Jenna. Randy is preceded in death by brother-in-law David Wandell, nephew Mathew Struble and father-in-law Lawrence Klein.

He is survived by loving wife Sandy (Klein) Helmer, parents Maynard and Barb Helmer, siblings Deb (Darryl) Carpenter, Connie (Jeff) Bowne, Sue (Brian) Bowerman, Ann (Dennis) Ward, mother-in-law Rita Klein and brother-in-law Dennis (Victoria) Klein and Ken (Kim Johnson) Klein. 11 nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews.

† TULLER Audrey Jean Tuller met her Savior face to face August 1, 2024. She was born May 12, 1929 in Ionia the daughter of Manuel and Ethel Chapin. Audrey graduated from Ionia Highschool in 1947 and was married to the love of her life Daniel G. Tuller July 3rd of that same year. Together they dug the basement to their house by hand, sometimes with the help of a neighbor’s horse. They mixed their own concrete and built a home for their family on Hillcrest Drive in Ionia. They welcomed two sons, Chris and Mark and daughter Danna.

Audrey’s life revolved around her family. She was a stay-at-home mom who was a Cub Scout den mother, Brownie den mother, and a room mother for each child’s class. She helped Dan coach little league and attended all her children’s ballgames and even loved watching their practices. Later she enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events, even traveling many miles to do so. Audrey was a huge Detroit Tiger’s fan as well as the Lions and MSU. She and Dan were great motorcycle enthusiasts and enjoyed many trips with friends across the country. In later years they played many rounds of golf with family and friends often entertaining them with their golf etiquette.

Her greatest joy was her faith in Jesus. Both she and Dan accepted the Lord into their lives when they were 28 years old. They were regular church attenders the rest of their lives until physically unable to do so. Audrey loved music, she learned on her own how to play the piano as a child and could play any song after hearing it. She went on to teach herself how to play the accordion, banjo and guitar. She was a past member of Dildine Church, Temple Baptist, Lincoln Avenue Baptist and Alabaster Bible Church. At Temple Audrey and Dan were in charge of the Music Program where she played the Piano and Dan lead the singing. Audrey was a Sunday School teacher for many years and served as Sunday School secretary. She sang in many mixed trios and accompanied many other singers on the piano. Surviving Audrey are her brother Arnold (Pat) Chapin and sister-in-law Nancy Chapin. Children, Chris (Judy) Tuller of Mt. Pleasant, Mark (Roxanne) Tuller of Kingsley and Danna (Jerry) White of Cadillac. Grandchildren, Jeremy (Catherine) Tuller, Lacie (Shane) Kelly, Jason Mayer, Holly Mayer, Luke (Joy) White and Jeb White. Great grandchildren, Avery Tuller, Haley Tuller, Quinn Tuller, Cameron Tuller, Tessa Kelly, Kaden Kelly, Carsyn Mayer, Camryn Mayer, Caedyn Mayer, Carmyn Mayer, Caitlyn Mayer and Felicia White. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dan and siblings Myrl, Arvell, Iva, Dale and Doug. Visitation will be at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Tuesday, August 6th from 4-7 PM. Private funeral services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Americans Home Care and Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.lakefuneralhomes.com
