– OBITUARIES –

† COCHRUN Doris Marie Cochrun of Saranac, MI, passed away peacefully Aug. 10, 2020, at the age of 94. She was born April 5,1926, in Keene Twp., daughter of the late Perry and Lydia (Adgate) Walter. Doris married the love of her life Roger in October of 1947, and they shared 72 wonderful years full of faith, humor, and companionship. They were always young at heart together; their love story started with mutual adoration and fondness, both which only grew through the years. Her greatest joy was her family to whom she was a devoted and loving mother and grandma. She and Roger were consummate supporters of their children and grandchildren, whether it was to cheer them on as they pursued their dreams, which sometimes took them far from home, or taking a pack of grandkids on an annual camping trip. She loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family and friends was important to her. Doris and Roger loved traveling and made it to all 50 states, with Alaska being her favorite! She also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, cooking, and baking. There were always some of her famous molasses cookies around for those who stopped by. She had a dry sense of humor, her laugh was contagious. Doris will be deeply missed. She was the beloved wife of Roger Cochrun of Saranac, MI; mother to Linda (Jeffrey) Caudell of Ionia, MI, and Ron (Dianne) Cochrun of Saranac, MI; grandma to Scott Caudell and Fiance Kara West of Bridgeman, MI, Mark Caudell of Nairobi, Kenya, Angie (Matt) Hamlet of Baltimore, MD, and Laura Cochrun of Washington, DC. She was a proud great grandmother to Hannah Joy Caudell and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Baby Hamlet due Aug. 13. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Joyce Walter of Saranac, MI, and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Preceding Doris in death were her parents, brothers Judson (Thelma) and Myron, and infant sister Savilla. A memorial service will be planned at a later date to celebrate Doris’s life and legacy. Arrangements are cared for by Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to Saranac Community Church, where she was an active lifelong member, or Ionia Area Hospice. She was born May 17, 1924 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Ezra and Ida (Andersen) Clancy. Mae married Charles Phillips March 2, 1946 he preceded her in death December 23, 1975. She was a member of the Saranac VFW when the VFW disbanded in Saranac, she transferred her VFW membership to Belding where she continued to be active for several more years, Boston Historical Society and the Red Hat Society. Mae enjoyed Crocheting and Cross Stitch. Mae is survived by her children; Gary (Jackie) Phillips of Greenville, Roger Phillips of Saranac, Pat (Steven) Moore of Saranac, Mike (Dawn) Phillips of Saranac, LuAnn Ferris of Saranac and Bill (Jane) Phillips of Lake Odessa. Sister Linda Garcia of Georgia. 22 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, Sisters Lorraine Reminder and Viola Trumble. Brothers Robert Harvey and Ray Stevens. Step son Robert Nelson. Private Funeral Services will be held for the Family on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday 4-7 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Williams, 93,of Muir, died Monday evening, August 10, 2020 at home under the loving care of her family and Sparrow Hospice. She was born on September 28, 1926 in Ionia, the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth (Hammond) Tuller. Pauline graduated from Ionia High School with the Class of 1944. In earlier years she worked as a seamstress for Jolly Kids for 13 years and then made shoes at Wolverine in Rockford retiring in 1979. Pauline was blessed with a good work ethic and worked during her high school years and helped her siblings while they were in school. Family always came first to Pauline and she enjoyed helping wherever and whenever possible. Pauline was an avid walker for many years, enjoyed crafts and fishing. She was a member of the Sheridan VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She kept a neat home and had a true love of family and friends. She was married on September 2, 1949 in Angola, IN to Glenn Williams and he preceded her in 2012. She was also preceded by her parents, a grandson Ed Sage, a brother Daniel Tuller Jr., a sister and brother in law; Virginia (Kenneth) Harley, a sister in law; Donna Tuller and stepfather Ralph Davis. Pauline is loved and survived by her daughter; Norma (Randy) Thurlow of Muir, grandson; Sam (Jodi) Sage of Lansing, her grandchildren; Brooke (Kara) Sage of Ionia, Trisha Sage of Lyons, Cody Gallagher of Saranac, her brother Stanley Tuller of Battle Creek and a sister in law; Audrey Tuller of Clare. Graveside funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday August 22, 2020 at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding with Pastor Greg Gladding officiating. The family will be at the cemetery at Noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Ionia County Commission on Aging (115 Hudson St. Ionia, Mi. 48846) or Sparrow Hospice (1210 W. Saginaw St. Lansing, Mi. 48915). Envelopes will also be available at the graveside service and Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted. 6th Annual Sparrow Hair-a-Thon offers a new twist in aiding children with hair loss LANSING, MI – Been waiting awhile to cut your hair during the pandemic? Wait a little longer and help a young cancer patient feel better about themselves. The 6th Annual Sparrow Children’s Center Hair-a-Thon won’t be held until Sept. 12 but we’re asking those interested to keep their locks flowing until then so they can donate the preferred eight inches or more of hair. The Hair-a-Thon, which coincides with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, is traditionally a fun, feel-good event that collects hundreds of hair donations that make up wigs for kids who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other causes. This year’s donations will go to two organizations, Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan and Children with Hair Loss. Both provide free wigs to children. Because of the need for social distancing, the 2020 Hair-a-Thon will look a little different than the past in which dozens of people gathered in the lobby of the Sparrow Plaza Building and Sparrow

This year, donors can arrange to have their hair cut by their own stylist, place the dry hair in a plastic bag, then drop it off to volunteers stationed in front of the Sparrow Plaza Building, 1140 E. Michigan Ave., across from Sparrow Hospital on Saturday, Sept. 12. There will be no need for donors to even exit their cars; volunteers wearing personal protective equipment will collect donations directly at
