† BOS Constance K. Bos “Connie”, age 84, of Saranac, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024. Connie was born on December 29, 1939, the daughter of Ware and Katherine (Dodds) Story in Lowell, MI.
Connie was a founding member of the Boston historical society. She enjoyed baking and gardening. She was a very active member of the community and liked to travel, camp and hunt.
She is survived by her children, Robert M (Tawnya) Vreeland of Saranac and Shanda Vreeland of Saranac; sister, Patty Story of Lowell; 19 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bos.
A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Visitation was held on Thursday, May 9 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. † ENDRES Kathleen Geraldine (Wieber) Endres, the 9th of twelve children born to Anthony Wieber and Clara Halfmann, was born August 24, 1940, in St. Johns, Michigan.
Kathleen graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School, in St. Johns, class of 1958. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
If you met “Gigi” you never forgot her.
Kathleen married Dr. Fred Endres DVM, on September 22, 1972, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns.
Kathleen retired from Woodland Elementary School as a para pro and previously as an employee from the State of Michigan.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Lorna (Michael) Shapley of Ionia and Matt (Jessica) Endres of Freeport; grandchildren, Hali (Cameron) Eveleth, Robert (Katie) Grinstern, Levi Dunn, Zoe (Colin) Walkington, Ryann Endres, Ryleigh Endres and Ryeese Endres; great grandchildren, Jayden, Ruger, Valor, Abel, Robby, Fred, Gracelynn, Maddie and Mia; one sister, Edna Eaton of St. Johns; brother-in-law, Dennis LaBar of St. Johns; sisters-in-law, Linda Wieber of Lansing and Julia Wieber of Perrinton.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Geraldine (Louis) Sipka, Donna (Otto) Kus, Ann Marie (Tony) Slamka, and Eunice LaBar; and six brothers Tony (Teresa) Wieber, Herb (Doris) Wieber, Lloyd (Charline) Wieber, Elvin Wieber, Melvin Wieber, infant brother Richard, brother-in-law, Mark Eaton and her great grandson Gentry Walkington.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1:00 pm, Friday, May 10, 2024, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ionia with Father Tom Brown presiding. Visitation will be Thursday, 4-7 pm at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s name to Ionia Commission on Aging or Arthrogryposis Foundation. James Sterling Grant aged 82 of Saranac passed away May 2, 2024. He was born September 8, 1941, in Scranton, Pennsylvania the son of George William and Rita Joan (Dunn) Grant. Jim moved to Michigan with his parents, going to Greenville Public Schools graduating in 1959. He would go on to Central Michigan University where he received his bachelor’s degree. Jim then went to Michigan State University where he received his master’s degree.
Jim married Mary Irene Vos August 22, 1964, in Greenville, she preceded him in death October 7, 2013. He taught school at Saranac Public Schools for many years until his retirement in 1990. Jim was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, ACLU, Village Library Board and village council. He was a History Buff.
Surviving Jim is his son Richard (Heidi) Grant of Burnsville, Minnesota. Grandson Alex Grant of Burnsville, Minnesota. Sister-in-law Lois Grant. Nieces and Nephews Greg Grant, Jeff Grant, and Kathy Grant. He was preceded in death by his Parents, wife Mary, son Keith Grant and Brother Douglas Grant.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Saturday, May 11th at 1:00 p.m. with Father Michael Goodwin presiding. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or Ionia County Animal Shelter. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Gay Lorraine Starkweather, 76 of Ionia passed away Monday May, 6th, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents Earl and Hope Hoag, daughters Brandy Barna, Renee Starkweather, and Lisa Starkweather. Surviving: sister Lynn Beaumont, daughter Krista Starkweather-Eavey, son David Starkweather. Grandsons Dalton (Danielle) Speckin, Noah (Madison) Barna, Parker Barna. Granddaughters Champagne (Justice) Starkweather, Samantha (Gavin) Bennett, Makenzie (Andrew) Brown. Gay graduated Olivet High School in 1966. She spent some time in Houston, Texas but returned to her home state later on.
Gay was a big Michigan Wolverines fan, she never missed a game. She enjoyed watching sports, reading, and spending time with her great grandson’s Colton, Thomas, and Titan. She was looking forward to meeting more great grandchildren. We welcome all to attend the memorial service at Hazel Devore Park in Muir on Saturday, June 29th from 2pm - 4pm.
