OBITUARIES † DENMAN

Ronald Lloyd Denman, age 77 of Blaine TN, formerly of Saranac MI passed away peacefully at his home, April 5, 2025.

Ron was born in Lake Odessa MI on October 7, 1947, the son of Lloyd and Maxine (Reinhardt) Denman. Ron was known to his family and friends as Ronnie. He grew up on the family farm in Saranac. He graduated from Saranac High School, class of 1965. Ron lived in the Saranac community until he married his wife, Joan Dalstra on October 26, 1986, then he moved to Lowell, MI. Ron was a rural letter carrier in Lowell, MI until he retired in November 2002, at age 55 with 38 years of service. He and his wife moved to their farm near Blaine TN that same month.

After retiring, Ron continued to raise miniature horses. Ron worked for Dollywood as a seasonal employee from 2003-2010.

Ron was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Rutledge TN. He enjoyed helping with the annual fish fry, apple butter making, and BBQ. Ron loved his dogs, horses, gardening, and especially his wife, Joan.

Ron is survived by his wife of 38 yrs., Joan (Dalstra) Denman, sisters Joan (Allen MacDonald), Janet (Tom) Swiger, brother Duane (Diane) Denman, sister-in-law, Dodie Denman, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack Denman. He will be missed!

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 7 at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Mr. Bruce Chadwick officiating.

Interment will be in the Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 6 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude, Juvenile Diabetes, or Second Harvest. Online condolences may be made at www. lakefuneralhomes.com

Sherry Marie Dick, age 71 of Saranac, MI passed away March 15, 2025. She was born on January 18, 1954 in Ionia, the daughter of Frank and Blanche Ward.

Cremation and burial have taken place in accordance to Sherry’s wishes. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Saranac.

† MOORE

Rodger Frederick Moore, age 85, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from his home in Belding. Born on March 29, 1940, in Ionia, he was the son of Raymond and Lucille (Houseman) Moore.

Following his graduation from high school, Rodger entered the United States Army and served with the U. S. Army Airborne 101 Unit. On May 10, 2009, he married his wife Lilia in the Philippines. He was a long-time iron worker in the construction field. Rodger also served as a lay pastor, who was an adamant believer of Jesus. He made it a point to share his faith with others and to encourage them to find Jesus in their own lives.

For enjoyment, he loved to ride motorcycles and was experienced with cutting down trees, always offering people a fair price.

Rodger will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lilia; daughter, Michelle Moore; son, Anthony Moore; stepsons, Lean-Karlo A. Tality, Benjamin A. Catindig, and Jan Mei A. Tality, Abelardo A. Tality III; step-daughter, Gian Paola A. Tality; many grandchildren and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald and Rodney; and sister Pam. A time to celebrate Rodger’s life was held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Shiloh Community Church. Pastor James Floyd officiated. Visitation took place one hour before the service. A luncheon at the church followed the service.

Rodger’s cremated remains will be taken to the Philippines by his wife for entombment.

Love T Ramos age 52 of Ionia, MI passed away Friday, April 18, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1972, in Ionia, the daughter of Pablo and Patricia (Maloney) Ramos.

Love enjoyed going to the beach and was an avid swimmer. Summertime was her favorite time of year. She loved watching the ID channel and reading. She was the family jokester, loved to laugh, and called herself the original “Irishcan”. Love received the Michelle Ingler Literacy Award when she graduated from High School.

Surviving are her children, Maxwell Phillips of TN and Alyssa Phillips of IN; parents, Pablo Ramos of Ionia and Patricia Ramos of Lowell; siblings, Miguel Ramos of Hudsonville, Jennifer Ramos of Ionia, Jessica Ramos of Ionia, Victoria (Pat) Norris of Grand Rapids and Christina Ramos of Muir.

She was preceded in death by her grandma Betty Ruth Jensen, aunt Delores Ramos and cousin Nelda Ramos.

A memorial service will be held at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Saturday, April 26th at 3:00 pm with Mr. Mike Cuevas officiating. A luncheon will be held at 4:00 pm at the Ionia Armory.

Alice Walter, age 80, Saranac, passed away Friday, April 18th at home. She was the daughter of Larry and Louise Hartman.

She graduated from Saranac High School in 1964. On August 22, 1964, Alice married David Walter at Galilee Baptist Church.

Alice is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dave Walter, sister and brother-in-law Phyllis and Dan Decker, children Jeff and Chris Walter (Rayanne), grandchildren Trevor (wife, Hollie), Sara and Jacob Walter, great grandchildren Keagan, Kayden, and Konrad Walter, Jozlyn Walter and Aubree, Evelyn and Claire Lower.

Alice was involved with the Walter RC Park and Ionia County Model Club. She was talented at growing beautiful flowers, making all kinds of crafts and taking care of animals including as a DNR rehab person and was always with her special pal, Snickers. She was a proud farmer, incredible bass fisherman and loved her family very much.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home at 8550 Morrison Lake Rd. Saranac on June 22, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ionia County Animal Shelter. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Saranac.
