Letter from the Head of Schools & Headmaster What a blessing it was to open our campus to our whole community at the start of the 2022-23 school year, for the first time in three years. With most Covid restrictions lifted, we were able to return to normality with both the Bangkok campus and the Udon Thani campus buzzing with activity and energy throughout each school day. It was a fantastic reminder for all of us about the need for a positive, uplifting community in our lives. We hope and pray that ICS represents that for all of you. We are extremely thankful that we were able to celebrate our 30th year anniversary this year as well. Itʼs remarkable to reflect on all that God has done through our Bangkok campus over the past 30 years and to know that the same influence and impact is now happening in the city of Udon Thani is amazing. It is a testament to the 1000s of parents, students, teachers and staff that have continuously invested in ICS over the past 30 years that has allowed our schools to continuously excel as Christ-centered learning communities year after year. We would not be what we are today if not for the indelible impact that each member of our community has had throughout our history. The 2022 - 2023 school year was marked with growth in numbers on both campuses, growth in student learning and achievement on both campuses, and growth in programs offered on both campuses. But at the end of the day, the true growth we care most about is that of our students' heightened desire to love and care for those around them. Loving and learning continues to be the mantra of ICS and as long as our teachers and staff continue to represent Godʼs love to our students, our students will recognize it, feel it, and want to exhibit it themselves. We are thankful for seeing lives change in new and different ways across our campuses this past year. We thank God for all that He has done to make the 2022-23 a monumental year for ICS.

Capstone Service Projects The Class of 2023 contributed more than 2,537 hours of service working on their CSPs -
Partnered and served many different communities/organizations…
- Schools, churches, NGOs, neighborhoods, e-commerce - Serving communities from children to elderly, migrant workers to tourists, people with disabilities to farmers.
2023 focused on a range of sectors including
- Healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, education, business, technology tourism and government Annie improved an organic farm using a lime-based fertilizer. Austin sought to lower the chances of decompression sickness for free diving fishermen. Ava provided access to first aid supplies focusing on wound care to lower infections in patients. Clarisse partnered with teachers at a music school in Klong Toey to teach music concepts in English. Eliza helped prepare asylum seekers who were moving to Canada by teaching them French. Jonathan provided extensive research for an organization to make an informed decision about beach erosion on their property. Jordan designed and helped construct a space for a child in a sponsorship program to conduct events. Nick bridged the digital divide by creating a computer lab at a local community center. Pichamon designed a program to improve kindergarten readiness for vulnerable children. Plub renovated and reopened a space for the elderly to exercise. Proud developed a wastewater management system leveraging Effective Microorganisms. Russell improved an e-commerce-based social enterprise by integrating a chatbot system. Russia developed a music exploratory experience for people with disabilities. Stephen helped to improve critical thinking skills through games with at risk kids. Trak increased tourism by implementing a targeted online infrastructure.

Spirit Week Kicking off our first “normal” year in three years, our students were ready to fully engage and participate in Spirit Week - with goofy outfits and fun fellowship with each other.

Serving and Learning Together (SALT) Our students had the opportunity to venture to different parts of Thailand to serve those in need during their Serving and Learning Together (SALT) trips. Taking students outside of their comfort zones in order to show compassion to their “neighbors” was a memorable experience for all involved.

Middle School Ignite and High School Eagles Camp Nothing models a heart of love and service to people more than teachers and staff members volunteering to spend three days pouring into the lives of hundreds of middle school and high school students during our MS Ignite and Eagles Camps. The fact that we were able to have full retreats with over 200 students and teachers at each of them was something our community had been craving. It showed by their willingness to unwind and genuinely have fun alongside each other. It also gave us an opportunity to combine our campuses as several ICS Udon Thani high school students were able to come to Eagles Camp.

ANNUAL HIGHLIGHTS
Drama Productions Our high school theatre department presented Shrek the Musical and The Fates of Olympus to the community. These productions required over 100 students to sing, act, and dance with beauty, poise and elegance. For these shows, high school students also managed set designs, lighting, sound, stage direction and much, much more. These shows saw a packed house for all showings! Our middle school play, The Love Note, was a hilarious and heartwarming story that left audience members laughing and longing for more. It was a fantastic show, perfect for all ages.

Elementary Music/ Drama Program
My child is increasingly taking responsibility for their future success and showing a desire to learn even more than is required and perform higher than the minimum required.
This year in music class, students learned many things from ukuleles, to recorders, to reading music, to singing. There were some special performances as well. K4, K5, and G1 put on a Christmas Show that told the Christmas story from the perspective of a very grumpy sheep. This show had a lot of singing, dancing, and acting. Second graders put on a musical that also included acting, singing, and dancing. Third graders showed what they learned in a Recorder Showcase, and the fourth graders showed their expertise on percussion instruments. The year ended with our fantastic fifth grade choir concert. It was a great year!

MS Eagle Award Program The ICS MS Eagle Award Program (EAP) is intended to recognise Grade 8 students who throughout the course of their final year in middle school pursue improvement goals for the betterment of their future and our community.
THE EAGLE AWARD PROGRAM All Grade 8 students at ICSMS are given the opportunity to pursue the four core goals of the EAP in their final year of middle school: skill development, wellbeing, community service and leadership. Through participation in seminars and "checkpoints", they progress through achieving 3 self-initiated goals and 1 common goal over the course of 9 months. This year, we had over 50 students register their interest in the program in September with almost all of them completing at least one skill or wellbeing goal. Excitingly, 35 students graduated the program in June, having completed all three of their personal goals. Students learned cooking techniques, languages, instruments, computer skills etc. as well as pursuing wellbeing goals like golf, fencing, yoga or running. Students then chose a community service organisation to work with, giving their time and energy to explore the impact being made by individuals on issues here in Bangkok. One of the biggest challenges middle schoolers face with the EAP is managing a project over the course of 9 long months (No small feat!). While provided with a certain level of basic direction and support, the EAP is largely an independent project requiring high levels of self discipline.The EAP requires students to maintain motivation and consistency over the entire course of their Grade 8 year despite many competing priorities. It requires long term planning, organisation and self reflection! Congratulations to all of our students. Whether they completed 1, 2, 3 or all 4 goals as part of their EAP, they all learned a lot about themselves and, hopefully, discovered new skills and interests which will follow them to high school.

Band and Orchestra Concerts It was amazing to see the talents, skills and abilities of our students on display as our middle school and high school Band and Orchestra students performed beautifully at the Harvest festival, Christmas concert, Pops concert and Spring concert.
Senior Carnival After several years of Covid disrupted carnivals, our seniors organized the most successful and most profitable carnival in ICS history that had been missed the past few years. Thousands came out to enjoy the festivities. Over 90 seniors worked tirelessly to make everything happen in order to create a most memorable carnival.

International Day International Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the many cultures and nations that are represented at ICS every day in our classroom and hallways. Our PTO and parent community came together beautifully to organize food booths, games, and performances that honored the rich diversity we have at ICS.

Fine Arts
Our Community Arts Forum (CAF) held art shows for all levels throughout the year, showcasing the extraordinary artistic abilities of our students, parents and teachers. Our arts program also promotes our community to get involved in showcasing their work in community art shows - allowing the arts to bring our ICS family together in a unique way.

Thai Activities Fatherʼs Day, Motherʼs Day and Thai Day were just a few of the days in which ICS was able to celebrate the elegant and rich culture that is represented in Thailand.

Community Service Events Expanded
Our students were able to lead community-wide service projects throughout the year such as building do-it-yourself barbells for the elderly, producing solar panels in order to create more renewable energy, raising money through a charity run for people who are blind, participating in a project to enrich soil in Bangkok, collecting garbage at Benjakitti Forest Park, helping the elderly during election day, and much, much more.

LINKS Life Skills Program The LINKS program invited high school students to come alongside students in the life skills class as role models and friends throughout the school day and beyond. This year LINKS joined students in the life skills class a few periods per week during academic classes, electives, break time, and lunch. LINKS and students in the life skills class celebrated special events together, such as birthdays and World Down Syndrome Day, and students had an after school club that met to play board games. The life skills class had 3 LINKS in the fall semester and 9 in the spring semester.
30 Year Anniversary
We were able to celebrate our 30th anniversary as a school this past year. We took time to commemorate our 30th year during our international day event, and we also ran a fundraising campaign to pay tribute to the rich history of ICS making an impact daily on studentsʼ hearts and minds. We thank the many people, past and present, who gave back financially to this campaign.

ACSI Creative Writing Competition Many of our students participated in the ACSI creative writing competition in which they had to submit an original story, poem, lyrics for a song, or essay. First, their work was evaluated by ICS judges, who chose the best 24 entries of the 59 that were submitted. Secondly, their work was evaluated by ACSI judges, alongside pieces written by students around the world.
MUN Conference
Our ICSMUN leadership team hosted a Model United Nations conference at ICS with students from eight schools coming onto our campus for two full days.
Formation of the National Art Honor Society
Parent Survey says: 95% Strongly Agree/Agree My child is growing in their ability to understand increasingly complex educational content, solve problems, and support their ideas and opinions.
ICS created a chapter of the National Art Honor Society which required students to participate in art-based community service, to complete fundraising projects, and to enrich the school through student-designed and student-made art projects such as murals put up around campus.

Senior Walk ICS started a new tradition as we took time at the end of the year for every member of our student and teacher community to high five, fist bump, or simply cheer on our seniors as they walked through our hallways one last time during the Senior Walk.
Graduation
We were finally able to have a full, packed house graduation for all to enjoy. It was a celebration of our seniors for an end of a very important season in their lives and a start of something new that we all know they are more than ready for. We are very proud of their ability to persevere through very difficult things over the past few years to get to the point of finishing high school at ICS.

ICS Bangkok MAP Scores The MAP Growth Tests continue to confirm the achievement and academic growth of ICS Bangkok elementary and middle school students. These adaptive computer-based tests are taken by millions of students in the United States and 140 countries worldwide, including 2,300 private schools. The ICS Bangkok average achievement scores are consistently above the average scores for international school scores globally in Mathematics, Reading, and Language Usage. This demonstrates that our students are being prepared well in core skill areas that will allow them to excel in a range of future endeavors and disciplines. The growth seen in ICS scores from grade to grade also confirms our effective partnership between teachers and parents to support our studentsʼ continued academic growth.

ICS provides a healthy balance of academic studies and extra curricular activities.
Graduation
COVID hit ICS during our first year in Udon Thani and it therefore impacted our first graduation of three students in 2021. We were overjoyed to be able to celebrate our five graduating seniors alongside the ICS Udon parent, staff, student, and teacher community. Itʼs without a doubt that our seniors felt honored, loved, and cared for during the ceremony. They are more than ready for the next season God will put in front of them.
Capstone Fair Our five seniors were able to not only complete their first ever Capstone Service Project but they all passed every aspect of the project with flying colors. They presented professionally, problem solved well, spoke eloquently, and researched effectively the given problem that was put in front of them.

Thai Day Our thriving parent community once again got involved in setting up food booths, helping with performances and more. Our Thai teachers and staff went all-in on preparing a performance for all to enjoy. It was a day to remember and celebrate our rich and unique Thai culture in the Isaan region.

After School Activities Expanded Our teachers and staff in Udon go the extra mile each and every year to work hard in expanding the programs we offer our students. Our athletic program was increased tremendously this year with each of our sports teams having multiple games against local competition - bringing our athletes to new levels of success along the way.

Kicks for Community Event We were able to host our first ever 3v3 “Kicks for Community” soccer tournament this year. Teams from both ICS and the surrounding community participated in this fan-filled event. It was yet another event that brought our devoted community together, giving us all a chance to cheer on our students.
ServICE Conference
Seven of our ICSUD students joined the ServICE conference in Bangkok. The conference aims to Inspire, Connect, and Empower students to take action in their communities and schools through targeting the Sustainable Development Goals listed by the United Nations. Students listened to keynote speeches from other students and adults from around the world, participated in how-to sessions led by students, and spent a day doing service activities around Bangkok.

Musical Theater Club The newly formed Musical Theatre Club put on their very first 40 minute show titled ʻHappily Ever Afterʼ. Club members created, learned and rehearsed their group performances to give our intimate audience a spectacular adventure through many magical places! This was an all-hands-on-deck production and it would not have been possible without the amazing people in our school community.
School Carnival The ICS Udon Thani campus held itʼs first ever school carnival which was extremely enjoyable for students of all ages. Our parent, teacher, staff, and student community all came together to put forth a joyous event of fun and fellowship. It was a huge testament to our “partnership with parents” and we are so proud to have that in place.

ICS Udon Thani MAP Scores The MAP Growth Tests show personal growth for students in Grades 3-12. These adaptive computer-based tests are taken by millions of students in the United States and 140 countries worldwide, including 2,300 private schools. The scores show that ICS Udon Thani students continue to reach higher levels of achievement each year. The rich English language experiences and instruction students experience in our elementary school are contributing to advanced average scores in Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6–more than one year ahead of scores from other international schools on all three tests: Mathematics, Reading, and Language Usage.

Annual Finances As one of the few non-profit international schools in Thailand, most of the revenue generated at ICS from tuition and fees goes right back into our school, enabling us to "continuously excel as a Christ-centered learning community." As you can see from the graph below, a large percentage of our expenses is spent on the salary and benefits of our teachers and staff. Our teachers/staff stay at ICS, on average, for 9 years, leading us to develop a healthy and supportive community where every child is well known and clearly valued. There is an obvious cost to keeping teachers here longer but we believe that cost is more than worth it, because it leads to us holding onto excellent teachers and staff, who are behind the mission and clearly get to know those they serve. Those are key components of an excellent school. We also continue to invest in our curriculum and programs each year which has a direct impact on what matters most, the growth in learning of our student body.

Message from the Board
Dear ICS students, families and friends, What a joy and honor we have to serve you, our loved and highly valuable partners and teammates. Thank you for the ways you contribute, even just by being present. We could not be the ICS we are today without you. Our core values are Biblical Truth, Christ-centeredness, Love, Growth, Community, Integrity and Respect. The love Jesus has for us and for the whole world compels us to pursue these beautiful values. While excelling in academics is often a fruit of diligence and rigorous academic integrity, we know the moments and actions leading up to the glory of achievement are often not so glamorous. In the many seemingly unnoticed acts of service, whether staying a few minutes after class to help a struggling student, grading an endless stack of papers, cooking dinner for your family, braving the morning traffic, or extending forgiveness to someone - we as a board want you to know that you are prayed for and deeply cared for. As a board we are committed to guide ICS toward the vision to continuously excel as a Christ-centered learning community. We believe in this vision because in following this path we can see the fruit of changed lives, growth in students, and healthy development in our community. No matter what the future holds, with Christ lifted up, we can stand firm on this strong foundation as we remember that our love for one another is, and will continue to be, our greatest achievement.
