The most well known fashion accessory is of course, jewellery. For teenagers and children, fashion jewelry pieces that are popular often include colourful, oversized pieces, as well as charm necklaces or charm bracelets. For men, a popular piece of jewellery often includes large pendant necklaces, many of which display a cross or another popular or meaningful symbol. As for women, popular pieces of fashion jewelry include watches, earnings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, pins, and so forth. Another major fashion accessory that you might want to look at is a new handbag. While purses can also be trendy, it is the handbag that has become a real status symbol and major fashion accessory. They come in a huge array of different styles so it is common to own more than one if your budget allows. In fact, many women out there like to match their fashion accessories, including their purses and handbags, with the clothing that they wear. BEHIND THE LOOK WITH ANDREA T.

TAKES A LOOK AT YOUR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING FROM A HOLISTIC PERSPECTIVE . FOCUSING ON SUBJECTS LIKE EATING RIGHT, AND WHEN. WHEN TO EXCERSISE ALSO WHAT IS YOUR THOUGHT PROCESS AND HOW NOT THINKING RIGHT CAN LEAD TO BAD PHYSICAL HABITS.

CREATING HEALTHY HABITS Breast Feeding Month Back to basic with Breastfeeding August is National Breastfeeding Month. The Breastfeeding Committee of United States is very passionate about supporting every effort to assist mothers with breasting their children even when they are back in the work force. Breast feeding is your body’s natural ability to provide for your baby all the nourishment they need. The milk your body produces is superior to any manmade or manufactured substitute. (Do you ever notice that even the baby formula companies market their product as being “the next best thing the breast?’) What’s in Breastmilk? Breastmilk is designed any nature to meet the special nutritional needs of infants. It also protects your baby from disease. Human breastmilk contains a special combination of nutrients including: Fat, Omega-3s, Protein, Vitamins, Minerals and Iron and Immunities, especially Colostrum which is a concentrated form of breast milk that is easier for newborn babies to digest and contain important antibodies designed to provide a natural form of immunity against disease. The Rhythm of Breastfeeding Breastfeeding is more than a way of getting inrushing milk into your baby. It is a life style, a way of mothering your baby and responding to their needs. Breastfeeding works best when you follow your baby’s cues about when he needs to eat. Newborns nurse eight to twelve time in twenty-four hours. Sometimes they go three or even four hours between feedings at other times of the day, especially in the late afternoon and early evening, they will fuss and went to nurse every hour or two. A normal, healthy baby who is sucking well at the breast is very good at deciding for themselves just how much milk they need. In addition, when you nurse when the baby is hungry the body will produce enough milk for the need. When breastfeeding you learn to trust your body’s cues about what they need and the baby trusts that you will be there to feed and comfort them when they are hungry or upset. Baby get an immediate response to his hunger cues. There’s no delay while mom goes to the kitchen and warms up a bottle or formula. Mothers get good feedback from baby when they breastfeed, too. The hormones released when baby nurses have a relaxing effect on mom’s mind and body. Plus, it’s easy to see that babies enjoy breastfeeding, and that’s another thing for new mothers to feel good about. I have learned so much as a L.E.A.N. Expectation Health Coach from Dr Sears. If your wardrobe is filled with classic pieces that flatter your body shape and suit your colouring, then simply choosing a new trendy handbag can instantly bring your look up to the minute. Travel bags are also considered a fashion accessory, but differ from handbags in that a lot of them are designed for both sexes. A travel bag is generally a small bag that can be used as carry-on luggage for a plane ride, a nappy/diaper bag or a laptop carrying case. It can also be the so called “man bag” that is increasing in popularity all the time. Many major fashion labels also have their own luggage line as well. Shoes are also a fashion accessory, although many do not necessarily consider them to be. Most often, women’s shoes are associated as fashion accessories, as opposed to men’s shoes. One of the reasons for this is the amazing array of women’s shoe style available, for example: athletic shoes, casual sandals, elegant sandals, flat dress shoes, stilettos, kitten heels, sling backs, mules, pumps and the list goes on. As with handbags and purses, most women own multiple pairs of shoes and aim to coordinate their shoes, especially for work, with the rest of their ensemble. Shoes can make or break an outfit, so think about the type of image you want to portray and make sure your shoes fit with that theme. Belts are also a major fashion accessory. While for many men and boys, belts are not necessarily a fashion accessory as much as a fashion necessity to hold their pants up; the same isn’t true for women. Women’s belts come in a number of different sizes, shapes, and styles and virtually every season there is a new “must-have” style. There is everything from casual, crocheted belts to wear with jeans, to elegant, black leather belts as a pair of slimline black trousers for work. Belts, handbags, purses, travel bags, jewellery and shoes are just a few of the many fashion accessories that you can use to make a good outfit into a great one.

Who is America Carillo? “Art paves the way for self-acceptance, which is the key to happiness and creative expression” quote by America Carrillo America chose a Graphic Design major because of the income potential where she earned her BSA. Her collaging began when she faced a last-minute deadline, with nothing completed and only 5 hours left to finish the project. She had been cutting out images from magazines for inspiration, but nothing came to her. Finally, she decided to make a collage out of desperation with the images and the rest is history. She’s become addicted to collaging because of the thrill of not knowing what will be created by her clippings and cuttings. The pieces of beauty, carved picture by picture, images that spark the interest of an amazingly complex and sometimes dark mind. The ‘zone’ she becomes transfixed in while creating is meditation to her, the creative energy building in her head, frenzied ideas stuck in her mind’s eye that pour themselves onto the canvas, a mix of painting and scraps torn from their page in magazines, nurtured, cajoled, caressed, pasted and brushed into Art, stunning and thought provoking when gazed upon by those lucky enough to pass their glance upon them. Her mission is to inspire with her Art, whether it takes 2 or 30 pieces to capture the message she is trying to convey. She believes all living beings have a right to live, to not be destroyed for mass production and consumption and that is why animals show up in a majority of her collaging. To America, creative expression is the only healthy way for her to deal with stress or depression. She doesn’t drink or smoke, eats a vegan diet and does these things because of her firm belief that there are healthier ways to deal with frustration or boredom. Her first collages, when she looks back on them, are not compositionally pleasing to her, but they served a purpose. She has sold a few and given away many to friends who were inspired and touched by them, which absolutely made America’s day and she carries those feelings with fond remembrance. Art allows America to get the attention she needs, she can be loud or really big with her creations and they are costumes for her that she wears proudly. When she first began to exhibit and put her Art “out there”, it was intimidating for her. She was afraid she wouldn’t make an impression and that it wouldn’t move someone like it moved her. She wants people who view her Art to “feel what I feel”. When she displays her Art and is asked what it means, she is disappointed that it needs to be explained, “It’s like putting wrapping paper on an elephant, an elephant should be left to its own device to be appreciated and not put into a box with words”. She believes consumers of Art should stop spending so much time looking for an explanation of the Art and concentrate on how it makes them feel. America’s proudest Artistic moment, to date, is the Martini Glass permanent Art installation she and I placed on top of a historic building in downtown Fort Wayne that currently houses Club Soda restaurant. She wants to be loud with her Art and thought that should include putting something on top of a building if she wanted. We built the Art as a fundraiser for Cancer Services to provide patients with Yoga and other positive outlets to help them manage their disease. The piece is a 10’ diameter by 11’ long clear plexi-glass Martini Glass that had 1300 blue balloons cascading out and had matching donations for the patients with each balloon. This Art installation project inspired America to move into a totally new direction with her loud, big, beautiful and incredible Art. She is currently creating a series of murals in all 50 states, called ‘America paints America’ and this would On the Rise St Louis Model give her the distinction of being the first Artist to accomplish this feat. This, also, affords her the opportunity to collaborate and learn with other Artists from around the country, soak in the different styles and personalities of each and marry bits and pieces of each into her own personal collage of internal Artistic talent. She loves the solitude of the road, traveling in her van with her cat, ‘Lady Gaga’ from state to state, hanging out with friends and family when needed. She loves the exposure the intrastate paintings give to her Art by allowing more people to see it in person. She’s painted in 6 states currently, with each new mural being her favorite piece and plans to try to finish this project within the next few years. Her thoughts upon finishing her first big mural were, “Holy shit, I can’t believe I pulled this off, people will like this.”

America is a complex and beautiful Artist who marches to her own beat, she’s tough, shy, scared, happy, introverted and extroverted all at the same time. The images trapped in her mind are vivid, haunting, beautiful and inspiring. Her desire and drive to express her feelings in Art and word is truly moving and the lives she touches with her presence are changed forever.
