The Benjamin Foundation For over 25 years, children, young people and families across Norfolk and Suffolk have been supported by The Benjamin Foundation to overcome big challenges in their lives.

Each night, we accommodate up to 180 vulnerable young people, equating to over 50,000 safe nights’ sleep a year. They can finally feel safe from youth homelessness.

Each week, 150 young people access our emotional wellbeing support improving their mental health, increasing their self-esteem to finally feel understood.

Each year, over 400 young people attend our youth work in the community to gain new life skills, expand their horizons and finally feel confident. Overall, in the region of 2,000 local children and young people every year finally feel hopeful of a better future because of the work of The Benjamin Foundation.

D’s Story

Anchorage is one of our housing services for young people in Great Yarmouth. We work with the private landlord sector to provide safe and affordable accommodation, and to offer more opportunities to help young people move confidently along their journey to independence.

D moved into an Anchorage house in January 2019. He settled in straight away and was very good at meeting up with his support workers and asking for advice when he needed it. Sometimes life could get a bit complicated for him but he was always really good at recognising this and coming to ask for help when he needed it. When at the Anchorage house D really was a great resident; he was always respectful and kind to staff and his other residents. He would always make sure his room was clean and tidy on a room check day!

D has actively been involved in charity work that took him overseas for projects. He enjoyed this – it was a great confidence boost and he got to meet so many other people. It was a great experience for him. He also has many interests and hobbies – one was fashion and design, and during lockdown he applied for the funding through The Benjamin Foundation for some air paints so he could customise trainers and t-shirts. Creative outlets such as this, helped many through the difficult periods during lockdowns. We were also able to support him learning independence skills such a washing and cooking. He and his Support Worker, Nicky made some great meals together!

D was always actively seeking employment and found himself summer jobs to keep him busy.

Just before he left the Anchorage service, he secured himself a full-time job in a sports shop, which was great timing as he was then offered a council flat. This meant he was in a great position to afford this, and we were pleased to help him with all the paperwork regarding taking on the flat and updating his benefits. He was also able to access rent deposit help from End Youth Homelessness to pay the deposit, and his Support Worker helped him to claim other Government grants available to purchase white goods for his flat.

We are thrilled that D has progressed so well. He knows where we are and he still gets to pop in at times to see us for a chat or advice. Stody Lodge Open Garden On Sunday 22nd May 2022 (12pm - 5pm), Stody Lodge Gardens near Holt in North Norfolk will once again open their beautiful gardens for members of the public. This will also be their Classic Vehicle Day - a popular event in the Stody Estate’s calendar. We are delighted to be selling tea, coffee and cakes for visitors to enjoy, with proceeds supporting our charity.

Stody Lodge Gardens is renowned for being one of the largest and most dramatic rhododendron and azalea gardens in the country each May and is well worth a visit to take in the stunning surroundings. Entrance is £8. Children under 12 free. There is good disabled access to most areas of the garden. Accessible toilet and parking available. Dogs on leads welcome. More information for visitors can be found on the Stody Estate’s website.

Mid Norfolk Railway To Host Vintage Day

Mid Norfolk Railway (MNR) has launched the details of its special Vintage Bus & Coach Day together with a Meccano Exhibition on Sunday 8th May 2022.

The exhibition will be located in the marquee at the station. There will be around 30 vintage buses and coaches displayed in Dereham station car park with the opportunity to ride on various vintage buses around the town, and also out to Yaxham, Hardingham stations and County School. There is no charge to ride on the buses.

James Oakley of Mid Norfolk Railway said: “This is going to be an exciting day out for all those who love buses, trains and vintage Meccano.

It will be a real trip down memory lane! We are really looking forward to hosting this funpacked day with The East Anglian Meccano Set and vintage bus and coach owners while being able to get our visitors out on the Mid Norfolk Railway once again!”

Christopher Kemp of The East Anglian Meccano Set said: “The Mid-Norfolk Railway will be welcoming The East Anglia Meccano Set (TEAMS) to the Vintage Bus Day on Sunday 8th

May 2022. TEAMS will be displaying a range of Meccano models including road vehicles, industrial machinery, aircraft, fairground rides and a working model railway. Some of these models are entirely freelance, others are inspired by the model plans issued with Meccano kits.”

The adult full price ticket allowing unlimited train travel on the day is £17 per person from Dereham to Wymondham Abbey return. Up to two children can travel for free with each full price paying adult. The bus rides and the Meccano Exhibition are free.

It’s Baa-tastic! Norfolk School Welcomes Lamb Into Lessons Rebecca Smith agrees, “It has been a joy to see the developing relationship between the sheep and the children, and the confidence that it has given to the children,” she says.

Charlie, aged 10, is one of the Lamb Team that oversaw looking after the sheep. “The best thing about having the ewe and lamb at Aldborough has been getting to know them and finding out what they need,” he says.

Aldborough Children Meet The Sheep

Children learn to look after sheep - and the sheep learn some ewesful maths!

Aldborough Primary School in North Norfolk welcomed a ewe and her lamb for a baa-tastic week to learn about animal husbandry and, more especially, sheep and how to look after them. The whole school was involved in the project, led by the Lamb Team of Theo, Ettie, Joey, Rosie, Hazel, Archie, Millie and Charlie, ably assisted by teaching assistant Rebecca Smith.

Hazel, aged 9, is also on the Lamb Team. “I like the way they eat from our hands because it feels lovely and warm,” she says.

Meanwhile, it’s clear that the sheep are enjoying lessons, too - and are picking up some ewesful knowledge. As Hazel explains, “Sometimes they ‘baa’ in our lessons just as if they know the answer to our maths questions!”

Head teacher Helen Bearman was delighted that Aldborough was one of the schools chosen to take part in this fantastic project, which is organised by Norfolk agricultural education charity, the Food and Farming Discovery Trust.

She says, “We are hugely grateful to all involved in the project and special thanks goes to farmer Dameon Layt, who lent the sheep, and the project’s sponsors The Clan Trust.

“We’re in the heart of an agricultural community so it’s especially exciting for the children to have this opportunity. The sheep have been such an inspiring learning aid, engaging the children throughout the school.”

Norfolk Open Gardens May 2022 As the year progresses into May, spring bulbs start to disappear into herbaceous borders bursting into growth, with a promise of the colours of summer.

Warborough House

Nine Norfolk gardens are opening to support the National Garden Scheme charities during May this year.

From masses of azaleas at Stody, to rooms of herbaceous borders at Quaker Farm, and the impressive walled garden at Lexham Hall, there are so many different kinds of gardens and experiences to be had this May. Pre-booked tickets can be purchased online (https://ngs.org.uk/) for all gardens listed, and the booking system is currently open, and at most gardens, it will be possible to turn up and pay at the gate. Refreshments will be available at the majority of gardens, and entry for children is free unless otherwise stated.

Warmer Days As we approach warmer days, I have been recalling some of my most memorable trips.

There have been many.

Some close to home, sometimes I like to fly, and there has even been the odd work trip.

There have been so many trips I have compiled a top five.

5) Picture the scene. I am in Brighton on a hen do and wearing huge platform shoes.

Now, two problems. Firstly, high heels and alcohol is not a good combination. Secondly, I am the wearer of the shoes. I can’t walk in normal shoes without falling over. This was a disaster waiting to happen.

Being the party animal I am, I retired to the hotel before everyone else and my good mates, Andrea and Ness, came back with me. Thank God. Because at least they were there to pick me up off the pavement when I went toppling down outside a packed nightclub.

Pain level: 6 out of the 10.

Humiliation level: That was a definite 10.

3) Now, moving day, and I had already kicked (literally) things off to a spectacular start by knocking a tin of white paint over the floor.

An hour later the room was clean and the paint tin outside by the bins. I then tripped on the front path, did a tottery little stumble as I tried to keep my balance, before bashing my nose on the paint tin.

2) I was unpacking my shopping delivery and my house had a deep step down from the front door.

As I was on the bottom crate, trying to get a pesky onion, I tipped.

Out of the door, my knees landing in the crate, my feet still up in the house and my arms flailing.

The grocery delivery driver looked mortified.

‘I’d come and help,’ he offered, ‘But social distancing and all.’

‘I’m fine,’ I told him as I struggled to get out.

One of the bouncers shouted over, ‘Is she drunk?’

‘No,’ Ness helpfully informed him. ‘She just can’t walk in her shoes.’

4) Pouring rain, me dashing across two lanes of traffic in rush hour. There would be nothing memorable about this trip, had I not caused the cars to slam their brakes on while I sat in the middle of the road going ‘ouch’, while trying to put on the classic ‘post trip’ brave face.

Icing on the cake was the kid who stopped, looking at me in horror. ‘Are you alright, Miss?’

Trust me, if that delivery driver had been carrying his phone, I would be circulating on a video.

1) Henry worked in our office and he was a man of few words. One day I passed him on the stairs, I said hello and he kind of grunted. As I continued on my way, I tripped.

Other people fall down steps. I do that too, but apparently I also fall up them.

So there I am, facepalming the stairs and Henry has frozen and is peering through the bannister in horror. if a thought bubble had been coming out of his head, it would have said, ‘Do I ask if she’s okay or shall I pretend I haven’t seen and leg it?’

The moment dragged on before Henry did the honourable thing. And because I am a lemon, I replied, ‘Oh yeah, don’t mind me. I fall up the stairs all the time’.

Do You Join Your Staff On The Shop Floor?

We’re all likely to cheer when we hear of excellent members of staff doing well, being promoted and moving upwards into more senior, management roles.

It’s encouraging when we see good staff being rewarded for their abilities and given opportunities to share and mentor others to be equally successful.

Then there’s the sole trader who works hard and does so well that some of their work needs to be outsourced or extra staff need to be hired.

This can result in them becoming increasingly detached from their customers and the dayto-day workings of the business. Whilst it’s exciting to see businesses being recognised and growing, how do they continue to keep in touch with what’s happening at the grass roots level?

It’s always good to do well, be recognised and receive the associated rewards and respect,

but it’s also important not to lose sight of your original vision and remain close to your core business. Your front-of-house, customerfacing staff are the cornerstone of your brand.

Something has to be sold, whether it be goods or services, in order for trade to occur. Money has to change hands for a business to thrive and grow.

So, how do you keep in touch and continue to join your staff on the shop floor?

Showing consideration and respect for your staff and their issues is an important way to join your staff on the shop floor, especially as they return to work after an unprecedented two years. Many may now have revised priorities, feel differently about work and career progression. Some may even be apprehensive about returning to a fullon work environment.

Many business owners who started from scratch did it the hard way, learning every aspect of the business, as they tried to do everything

themselves. Even as they grew, some still continued to maintain a reasonable level of involvement, spending time ‘on the shop floor’, perhaps one day a month, working in the different areas of their business, keeping up-todate and familiar with their skills, dealing with challenges and developments as they occurred.

That level of involvement may not always be feasible, so intermittent walkabouts may be a positive option, where the business owner or manager selects a site to visit, maybe incognito at first, to assess how it runs operationally.

Some top businessmen are well-known for doing this; chatting to staff at first undercover, then following up with discussions to address any ideas that may have been floated to correct and improve efficiency, often coming away with some extremely valuable suggestions.

Everyone benefits when potential problem areas are dealt with promptly. Early intervention provides the opportunity to explore remedies, like flexible working hours, working from home if viable and the introduction of appropriate structures that allow staff to feel listened to, supported and valued.

An effective way to join your staff is by having an open-door policy which allows them to share their thoughts and feedback in a

By demonstrating compassion, understanding and empathy you can maintain good relationships with your staff, connect with them in a human way and develop mutually accommodating exchanges. You become attuned to their issues, aware of any changes in their behaviour or emotional state. You notice if they’re experiencing poor concentration or work performance, have close enough channels of communication to be able to sensitively discuss any increases in sick leave, absenteeism or poor time keeping.

These are ways to reassure your staff that you’re all on the same team, understand their fears and concerns and are focussed on a positive outcome. You remain connected to your staff in a way that’s important to them.

Spring Motivation!

I’ve realised that with the a reward after is much more pleasant when it’s beginning of a new season, each enjoyed out in the garden. one feels welcome.

It all starts with the ceremonial cutting of the By the time autumn arrives, I’m ready. I look forward to the traditions of Halloween and gathering for fireworks. Similarly, I enjoy cosier evenings in our lounge during winter with the family. However, spring really arrives with a very unique energy.

All of a sudden, I open up the door to our back garden and I’m genuinely motivated by the light and warmth.

Dragging myself out for a run doesn’t seem quite as bad in spring and the coffee I’m drinking as

grass. You convince yourself that it needs to be a dry day, and then you get bored waiting for said day and eventually just cut it when it’s convenient no matter how dry the grass actually is!

So, the grass is cut, next we remove the covers from the garden seating, hoping all has been protected from the elements over winter.

Thankfully, your wife had a fantastic idea of vacuum packing all of the cushions and they have survived! (Albeit a bit flat, but they’ll soon pop back into shape!)

Next, the children want to ruin the garden you’ve just spent hours tidying ready for the new season, and rightly so of course! You’ve hosed down the slide, repaired the piece of roof that had blown off the playhouse and the garden is ready… almost.

If you’re anything like us, and Becca’s childminding certainly adds to this, but we have lots of small plastic toys. Cups and fish that belong with the water-wall, balls, boats, buckets and enough play food to keep the children of the entire estate busy for a few days.

Well, these all look a bit worse for wear after a winter in the garden, no matter how often you brush or hose them down. Becca has another little hack for these that I wouldn’t have thought of… the dishwasher.

I do have my doubts when she uses our appliances for this sort of thing, but it works really well. They come out like new, and thankfully it hasn’t ruined the machine like I had worried, imagining opening the door to one solid multi-coloured slab of unusable plastic!

So, whatever outside space you have or public space you have access to, I encourage you to use it. Sit, play, spend time with the family.

Read, write, listen to a new podcast. The possibilities are endless but for me, they just all feel better when you’re outside… and if the kids get too rowdy, just head back inside and lock the door!

Who doesn’t love that feeling when you’re outside and you stop, close your eyes, and soak up the warmth of the sun on your skin?

Without meaning to be a party pooper, you do have to be aware that you need to take steps to prevent you and your nearest and dearest, from overdoing the sun-worshipping, and there are many suncare myths out there.

I don’t know about you, in my mind’s eye I can see my batteries just absorbing the energy with my recharge icon pulsing away.

You can only burn in Summer and when you’re outdoors err nope. You can burn at any time of the year if the UV is strong enough even if you’re inside.

Scientific studies show the physical and psychological benefits that the sun can bring us. We’re more relaxed and positive, smiling more, and without a doubt, the fab weather we experienced during the lockdown really helped make it more bearable (particularly if you had access to your own outdoor space). Sunshine helps the body produce vitamin D which is important for helping children’s bones to grow and stay strong, as well as helping to prevent osteoporosis later in life.

Being in the sun behind glass can make you feel fab but the harmful rays are completely unfiltered and are damaging your skin cells.

They can pass through clouds, leaves, and branches and bounce off surfaces such as snow, water, and even concrete.

You only need to apply sunscreen once a day that’s another nope, even if that’s the claim of the manufacturer. It’s best to apply every

couple of hours and if swimming and towelling yourself down afterward, reapply at that point.

If I build up my tan gradually, that’ll be ok When your skin starts tanning, that’s the sign that the UV rays are getting through and there is the potential for it to be harmful to your body. There is no ‘safe’ way to tan, but many ways to lessen the risks.

Suncare is all the same There are essentially two different types of suncreams.

Mineral sunscreen leaves a fine layer of UV reflecting minerals on the surface of the skin and the rays effectively bounce off the skin. They tend to have a slightly thicker consistency than the other option, which is chemical.

These use chemical sun filters that mimic the way the body’s melanin converts the UV into heat. They tend to have a much silkier smoother texture.

Either way, there are some real nasty ingredients in some products, so do a bit of research - if they claim to be Reef Safe, you’re on the right track.

You must get a suncare product with a star rating The well-known UV star rating system was initially developed by Boots the Chemists in 1992 and whilst it’s a great indicator of effectiveness, it only applies to products that can be sold via Boots.

With the advances of the internet, many brands don’t sell in that way and so will not have a rating.

You should always look for a product that has broad-spectrum protection.

The basic thing to remember is that UVA rays cause the skin to age and UVB causes the skin to burn.

My top tips for staying safe in the sun are: ● Factor 50 SPF all year round on exposed parts of your body - face & hands ● Hydrate - drink water regularly so avoid the risk of sunstroke but also choose a suncream with hydrating ingredients ● Be aware of UV levels - there are many good apps available you can download ● Stay out of direct strong sunlight between 11am and 3pm when the sun is at its highest ● Wear a hat ● Cover up - but also be aware that those pesky UV rays can get you through clothes as well ● Sunglasses - eyes can also be affected by UV As with everything in life - moderation is the key and let’s hope some of the warm stuff is heading our way soon.

New SEAT Ibiza Review

It isn’t easy to believe that the SEAT Ibiza has been on the scene for nearly forty years.

In its fifth incarnation, the current version of the Ibiza has been on sale since 2017.

That means it’s due a facelift, and the brand has obliged with new tech and some updates.

From the outside, it’s challenging to tell any difference. The front of the Ibiza now has LED lights across the range, and there’s a new selection of alloys. The badging has also been altered, with ‘Ibiza’ scrawled in joined-up letters along the rear.

There are no fundamental changes other than that, but the subtle additions make this SEAT model more attractive.

The new Ibiza comes with a modest 1.0-litre petrol unit. This might be disappointing if you equate sportiness with engine size. However, the vehicle comes with 80, 95 or 110 horses and various trim levels.

Here, the Ibiza on test is the 1.0 TSI FR 95PS with a five-speed manual gearbox. The FR houses sports seats, cruise control, and an athletic handling setup. You also get electrically foldable door mirrors, dark-tinted rear windows, and a sportier rear bumper. Plus, dual-zone climate control, an alarm and automatic windscreen wipers are part of the equipment.

The car’s acceleration does feel somewhat limited by the small powerplant, but it still pulls comparatively well, achieving zero to 62mph in 10.9-seconds. In this guise, the top speed is 116mph.

The ride is slightly stiff, but it isn’t uncomfortable and is a match for the Ford Fiesta. Its VW relative, the Polo, is worth trying, too, if you want extra comfort.

The handling is bang on and a worthy match for any challengers. This is helped by the car’s steering, which is highly responsive. It is light at low speeds but gets heavier for extra accuracy around faster corners while giving appropriate feedback and feel for traction levels.

Inside, the car is fitted with soft-touch materials, although some areas are made of rigid plastics, which feel a bit bargain-basement.

Furthermore, the FR boasts a flat-bottomed steering wheel with switches to operate your radio and music selection, as well as the cruise control system.

At the back, the Ibiza provides 355-litres of boot space - more than you get in a VW Polo or a Ford Fiesta. There is storage under the boot floor, too. Furthermore, the rear seats fold down, increasing the cargo capacity to 1,165-litres.

The Ibiza was crash-tested in 2017 and won a top five-star rating, so this is a safe car for you and your family. It is also efficient - I managed around 49mpg on my test run (not far off the claimed 51-ish mpg), and the 95PS engine releases 124g/km CO2.

The latest Ibiza is a commendable candidate for any car in the supermini class. It is pragmatic for its size and has a selection of trims to suit just about any palate. In addition, the SEAT handles well, it’s pleasurable to drive, and it’s roomy for a small car.

In addition, you get navigation and a touchscreen, which is responsive and manageable. Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity is incorporated, too.

Despite being in the supermini category, there is a good amount of space inside the Ibiza.

There is a lot of travel on the front seats to accommodate short and tall drivers. And, as long as you don’t have the blend of tall driver and lofty rear occupant, there’s enough room to oblige everyone.

Glowforge Pro - The Award Winning 3D Laser Printer Arrives In The UK The last two years have seen a surge in home-based business startups, particularly with crafting and homemade products coming to the fore.

So, I was particularly excited to be given the opportunity to try out the Glowforge Pro 3D Laser Printer which has been enthusiastically received in the USA and has now landed in the UK. The Glowforge comes in 3 guises, all having the same footprint of 38” x 20.75” x 8.25”, namely the Glowforge Basic, Glowforge Plus and Glowforge Pro. The Basic and Plus can cut, score and engrave material up to 19.5" (495mm) x 11” (280mm) in size, the Pro has a pass-thru slot which allows for material 19.5” wide x ∞ (ie. any length). The Basic and Plus keep the material in a static position whereas the Pro allows you to

feed material gradually and clever technology and cameras allow the correct alignment of the material during the print.

The Basic and Plus have 40W lasers and the Pro has an enhanced 45W laser and superior cooling system to allow for all-day use.

The Pro version which I have been testing out is capable of cutting, scoring and engraving various materials up to 1/2” (12.7mm) thick, such as wood, fabric, leather, paper, plexiglass, mylar, rubber, foods and much more. It is also able to engrave the materials mentioned and also glass, coated metal, marble, anodised aluminium, titanium and some phones, tablets and laptops.

MDF, hardwood, leather, acrylic and more.

Proofgrade materials are laser safe and specifically manufactured for laser cutting, they also come with a QR Code which is recognised by the printer automatically and it adjusts its settings accordingly to give the best results.

You can however use other materials, but you should check that they are ‘laser-safe’ before attempting to cut them as some materials can expel unpleasant chemicals during the cutting process. There are plenty of specialist suppliers of laser-safe material in the UK. So with that out of the way, I was ready to set up the machine and get cracking.

The Glowforge Pro comes in extremely large (and heavy!!) packing boxes and needs at least two people to lift it onto an appropriate table or desk. Once in position, it’s a matter of removing the packing materials in installing the printhead which attaches magnetically in position.

There is an exhaust hose that can be hung out of a window or fitted to a wall extractor vent. In my case, I also had the optional air filter meaning no venting it necessary, so I connected the hose to this instead.

Once switched on, you are instructed to visit the Glowforge setup page run through the installation process, which in reality is a process

to connect the printer to the internet, once completed you are ready to go and see a live preview of the print-bed on your screen.

Now I decided to try out a few of the ‘Proofgrade’ materials included with the printer. I picked Medium Cherry Plywood. After placing the material on the print bed, Glowforge immediately recognised it correctly and the settings for cut, score and engrave were set automatically for this material as every material has different properties.

Having created a PDF graphic of the Iceni logo, I added this to the printed preview and resized it, I was able to tell the software to engrave the logo onto the plywood and cut a box around it.

When I was happy everything was aligned and focussed correctly, I click ‘Print’. At this point, the image is sent to Glowforges servers, optimised and sent back to the Printer. You always know when this is ready as the button on the Glowforge starts flashing.

As I have an air filter, I switched that on by turning the knob until it jumps into life, I then press the flashing button on the Glowforge and the magic happens!

My print took around 2 minutes to complete, first, it scans back and forth as it begins engraving the image. Engraving is the slowest mode because it has to lay down the image in a bitmap, scoring is much faster, but only produces outlines. When the engraving had finished, the Glowforge immediately continued by cutting around the logo and then the job was complete!

When the light switches off, you are safe to open the lid and remove the finished work, however, opening the printer at any time, stops everything mid-print, again for safety reasons.

Proofgrade materials are coated in masking paper on either side which avoids scorch marks and soot from the cutting process, you simply

remove this by picking gently at the paper and revealing the final finish Of course, I could have created this in clear acrylic, MDF, Basswood or Hardwood, I could have engraved my aluminium Macbook Pro with the same design or I could have done the same with leather or glass. It’s really straightforward and the software is very easy to use directly if you are not au fait with design software. Your designs are saved in your Glowforge account, so you can call them up at a later date and print them again. It’s very helpful. There is also a Premium mode which gives you access to a catalogue of free laser ready models and also improved functionality. This comes free for 14 days after activation of the printer.

Popular Magazine Didn’t Like How To Lose Arm Fat A reporter from a very popular national magazine regarding the health of women asked a few questions about arm fat.

The questions asked were a little leading and were pushing for very click bait style answer that would trick readers into believing there was some magic arm fat blasting bullet. Rather than stoop to that level I gave my honest answers which needless to say, didn’t get published.

Thus here is my response to them regarding the illusive arm fat AKA bat wings and bingo wings.

Question #1: Why do women have arm fat?

Answer: Fat is stored all over the body and for some, in particular areas more than others such

as the arms, legs and hips. We all have arm fat and genetics, age, sex and activity levels vary the degree of how much is stored.

Question #2: How long does it take to lose arm fat? Please provide an estimated number.

It can be something like “It’ll take X time if you do X or eat X.” Answer: In short the same amount of time to lose fat from anywhere else on the body.

Generally, our Armoured Muscle PT clients look to lose a few cm’s every 6 weeks with consistent training 3-5x /week and a modest but sustainable calorie deficit around 100-250 kcal/day/week. Arm fat won’t come off the body any faster than the rest of the body to any significant degree.

Question #3: What are some factors that can affect how long it takes to lose arm fat?

Answer: Consistency is the biggest factor.

Keeping good training and nutrition for a week will be wiped out from as little as 3 days off track. With body transformation being relative slow in reality, each step backwards prolongs the process. The factors that effect any fat loss from anywhere on the body will equally effect that around the arms as they are one and the same.

Question #4: Is it possible to lose arm fat without exercise? (yes, but you’ll have loose skin) Answer: Yes, with a modest calorie deficit the body can lose fat from the entire body including the arms. However, this process usually shows the excess skin and you may be better off using exercise alongside healthy daily nutrition to help firm the area.

Question #5: What are 10 lifestyle and nutrition changes someone can make to help them lose arm fat?

Answer: 1. Have a plan - how many workouts are you going to do, what calorie deficit do you need etc.

2. Be just a little bit more active every day.

3. Cut 1 sugary snack out of your day.

4. Track your calories.

5. Track your steps as a measure of activity.

6. Stay hydrated.

7. Make a consistent sleep routine.

8. Take body measurements monthly.

9. Appreciate who you are.

10. Don’t compare yourself to others.

Question #6: What are 10 exercise and fitness routines that can help someone lose arm fat? Please be sure to explain how these tips can help target against arm fat and how can these interventions help to get the maximum benefits? (pretty much the same as general fat loss) Answer: 1. Learn the push up - It’s amazing for filling about baggy skin in the arms as well as developing good upper body and core strength.

2. Do what’s fun - If it’s Aquafit or Zumba, as long as it’s enjoyable, you’ll do it again and staying consistent is paramount.

3. Work your bicep - Muscle and fat tissue spread around the arm so working the other side will help fill the gap and pull the back of the arm closer to the bone.

8. Recover - You break down the body in the gym, it builds back up when you rest. Over training won’t give your arms chance to adapt.

9. Go heavy - The more stimulus you have, the more your body responds. More weight means more muscle tears, more nervous reaction, more metabolic response (lactic acid or “burn”) and more hormone response. If all these pathways are responsive, your body will adapt faster.

10. Take your time - At Armoured Muscle we keep clients on 6 week rotations as that’s how long it takes to see and feel noticeable results. If you want more than ‘just noticeable’ you need to put in more time.

Summary Don’t be fooled by mainstream ‘fitness’ journalists. You can’t target arm fat specifically.

Which is obvious where this journalist’s mainstream magazine employer wanted to mislead its audience.

4. Work big muscles in your legs - These need a lot of calories to build and grow which will in turn help take fat off the body including your arms.

5. Lift more! - Weight training, be it body or iron, breaks down muscle tissue which requires calories to restore. Thus putting you in a calorie deficit to chip away at the arms (and everywhere else).

6. HIIT - If you’re short on time, smash in a quick 10-15 min HIIT session to help prevent regression and keep those arms moving.

If you want to lose it off your arms you have to lose it off the whole body.

Therefore, focus bigger muscles.

There’s no magic workout or special food to get rid of arm fat and if there were, would you be happy with toned arms but nothing else on your body matched? Probably not.

7. Use compound movements - Multi joint exercises work lots of muscles, therefore doing rows or presses work your arms AND major muscle groups to burn more calories whilst developing strength.

Do: Set Clear Expectations It pays to have a clear picture of the type of dress you want. If you’ve researched your figure and the preferred silhouette, inform your dress shop of choice shop that you want pre-selected shapes specific to your body type. In my experience with weddings in our family, the dress shop has always asked these questions at the time of booking the appointment. If they do not or they are a very small shop, consider calling ahead.

Also communicate other concerns, like how much you’ll be moving in the dress and the design details you want on the gown. If you have photos of the accessories you plan to match with it, show them to the wedding dress shop staff so that they can make any adjustments to the gown as necessary.

Do: Start Shopping as Early as Possible In terms of timing, you want to start shopping three to six months before the scheduled wedding date. Anything shorter than three months may be cutting it too close! Things like supply chain issues, holidays, and of course time spent in alterations may delay the final result.

After all, you also want to be comfortable and enjoy wearing the dress as you dance, greet guests, and celebrate.

That said, be aware of the policies on photo taking. Make sure to call the store before scheduling your visit to ask if they allow for photo-taking. Some stores may allow it on the condition that the pictures not be posted online, or not allow pictures in shared areas of the store where there are other customers. Just to be on the safe side, don’t publish any of the images, whether or not the store explicitly requested you to refrain from it. Hen Party Games And Activities You’ve probably attended a hen party where you barely knew anybody.

You sat up against a wall, a drink gripped in your hand, as you smiled woodenly at people you didn’t know, and wondered how soon the ordeal would be over.

A great hen party ice-breaker game would have ended that horrible beginning-of-the-party discomfort.

The hen party organiser, often the chief bridesmaid, should start with games as soon as the guests arrive. Here are three great bridal shower games specifically designed to ease awkwardness among your guests, from the moment they arrive.

The Guests’ Arrival Game Hand out a scratch card to each guest as they arrive. Tell them they are not allowed to scratch

their ticket until the end of the party. Also, instruct them that the groom’s name is OFFlimits during the party. If a guest hears another guest say the groom’s name, they can claim that person’s ticket or tickets. Yes, the unlucky guest who spoke the groom’s name will lose all the tickets they may have won off other individuals.

The Scrapbooking By Committee Game Scrapbooking is a hugely popular activity; this game provides a fun twist. Break the guests into random groups of 2-4 people (mix guests with strangers.) Arm each group with a stack of magazines and catalogues, scissors and glue sticks. Give each group a large piece of construction paper and a short FUNNY story about the bride and groom. Each group must then cut out pictures that represent the story words and glue those pictures in storyboard fashion to the paper. Set a finite amount of time on this event.

When the time is up, have each group show their creation, explain it, and then deliver the whole bunch to the bride as a keepsake. This is a hilarious way to encourage interaction among strangers. The laughter is infectious making this party game one of the best.

The flavours are, of course, up to the bride and groom but should take into account any potential food allergies the guests might have - those hazelnut cookies won't look so tasty should a guest react badly to the ingredients!

Create either one large cookie for each guest or, using a ribbon, tie three smaller cookies together into a cute cookie package for your wedding guests to unwrap. Match the ribbon colour to your wedding theme to tie the whole look together.

Gingerbread Favours For the colder seasons, would-be brides and grooms should try making edible wedding favours out of gingerbread. Whether you stick to a traditional Gingerbread Man shape or experiment with heart-shaped gingerbread cookies, your guests will appreciate the rustic charm of your wedding favours, as well as the taste.

For those with a steady hand, how about piping pretty patterns or shapes onto your gingerbread? Those skilled with a piping bag could even attempt to write a short wedding message to guests or simply the names of the bride and groom and the wedding date.

Many brides don’t want the hassle of doing their own hair and makeup on the day of their wedding. So, if it’s important to you and you want someone special, make sure you book early! Most good artists get booked at least a year in advance.

When you researching, start by looking at their website and Instagram/Facebook business

pages to see as many pictures as possible to assess if you like the style. You will quickly get a feel for if this person is right for you. If they don’t have many pictures, be sure to ask for some before you book and don’t be afraid of asking about their experience, training etc.

I often take pictures of all my brides but don’t put them online due to privacy. However most brides are happy to share pictures as references for potential future brides.

Also, there are different price ranges when it comes to hair and makeup. Most of the time, you really do get what you pay for. Not always,

but if someone is very cheap, that doesn’t mean they are not talented but will be less experienced and this is something to take into consideration when it comes to the big day when anything can happen. Remember, it isn’t just the hair and makeup they need to excel at but also time management, calm talking and potentially crisis aversion, too. On the flip side, someone very expensive is not necessarily any better than a midrange artist.

When you choose your style, be realistic of what can be achieved with your features . Find pictures of real people that are similar to you in terms of face structure, complexion, age, hair type, length and colour.

Pick a picture from the artist you chosen as inspiration plus a few others. Try not to use too many airbrushed Pinterest photos. They are unrealistic and people can feel disheartened when they realise their makeup will not look like that except on photographs that are ultimately put through Photoshop.
