PRESIDENT’S MEMO Dear Members and Friends, It is my distinct pleasure to introduce the third edition of the ItalianCham Magazine and the first issue of 2019.

With the ongoing (hopefully to be sorted soon) trade tensions, the launch of the Greater Bay Area, the performance of major regional economies and the changes in the European Community, the general consensus is that 2019 will be definitively a “very interesting year” to navigate.

What is clear are the opportunities lying ahead for our Italian culture: Hong Kong is investing to further increase its appeal as a cultural destination, so it is with great pleasure that we dedicate this issue to art, featuring artists’ interviews, shows’ promotions and an exciting art galleries’ map.

The West Kowloon Cultural District has recently launched one of the largest cultural projects in the world, blending art, education and open space with the aim to create a vibrant cultural quarter for Hong Kong. Art Basel is approaching, together with the 14th edition of the Asia Contemporary Art Show and the 5th edition of Art Central, featuring over 107 leading galleries from 22 countries.
