Mission: The Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health is a network of empowered youth and allied adults who transform public consciousness and increase the capacity of Family, School, and Healthcare systems to support the sexual health, rights, and identities of youth.

Hello ICAH Family!

I hope you read our annual report as a hero’s journey: a story of resistance and resilience. As I think about movement building efforts across the country that are sure to deepen in the coming years, I feel inspired about all we will accomplish in the face of adversity. As I think about ICAH’s place in those larger social and reproductive justice contexts, I feel proud that ICAH stands in a squad of freedom fighters who have always been and will always be heroes.

We’re calling the central protagonist in this story ICAH. We’ve named her, well… for your reading pleasure, and to humanize all that ICAH stands for.

We’re using she and her pronouns to call in the fierce leadership of women of color and trans women who founded the reproductive justice movement, and stand in solidarity with people of ALL identities. ICAH is our youth, our adult allies, our board, our FYI Performance Company, our staff and supporters. ICAH is you, and the many ways you’ve touched our work.

So as you read this story, consider how you might have contributed to any of the transformations that ICAH catalyzed in our 2016 fiscal year (July 2015-June 2016). Consider how you might be a hero. And give yourself a high five. I hope I get to give you one myself in person soon.
