COOK BROWN BUILDING CONTROL OPEN NEW OFFICE IN CARDIFF
Cook Brown Building Control has recently opened a brand new office in Cardiff! This marks a significant milestone for the company. While they operate nationwide, this local presence allows the team to offer more personalised and responsive services to clients across South Wales. Fantastic news for their clients and partners in the region, as they continue to support projects with the same high standards of service.
COOK BROWN BUILDING CONTROL’S SOUTH WALES TEAM FUNDRAISES FOR LATCH The South Wales team at Cook Brown Building Control are fundraising for LATCH. LATCH supported the child of one of their surveyors, so we’ve seen how much their work means to families during difficult times. The team will be taking on a walk from Rhossili Bay to Whiteford Point and back, a real team effort from our South Wales surveyors. LATCH supports families across Wales who are affected by childhood cancer. Based at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff, they’re there when families need extra help, providing financial support, social activities, free breaks, and accommodation that keeps families together during hospital stays. COOK BROWN BUILDING CONTROL CONFERENCE AND CHRISTMAS PARTY
Cook Brown Building Control recently held their annual conference, celebrating an incredibly successful 2025. The event was a chance to reflect on key achievements, welcome new team members, and share insights while looking ahead to an exciting future. The day concluded with some engaging Christmas games, followed by a festive Christmas party in the evening, a fantastic way to wrap up the year together. Thank you to everyone who attended!
ALIGN CELEBRATES RECORD YEAR AND TEAM SUCCESS Align has delivered fantastic results, making 2025 a record-breaking year for the business. With strong performance and continued growth, the team is looking forward to building on this success in the months ahead. They're also celebrating achievements within the team. Marcus Graham, Align's Office Administrator, has just passed Level 4 Plan Checking and Site Inspections with BCCA, a fantastic milestone and a great example of the talent and dedication across the business.
HICKTON QUALITY CONTROL RAISES £322 AT MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING
The team at Hickton Quality Control came together for a Macmillan Coffee Morning, bringing along homemade treats, shop favourites, and even running a charity quiz and raffle. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, a total of £322 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support, who helped more than 2.4 million people affected by cancer in 2024. A big thank you to everyone who joined in and donated, helping to make the morning feel that bit more special.
A DAY WITH ANDY ALFORD AT QUALITAS COMPLIANCE
From early mornings on the South Downs to collaborating with design teams across the country, here’s a glimpse into a typical day for Andy Alford, one of Qualitas Compliance's Principal Consultants. 06:00 – Start the day with tea and a walk with Ruby under the South Downs sky. 08:00 – Coffee and a quick planning session before meetings kick off. 09:00 – Marketing catch-up with the Business Development and Digital teams. 10:00 – Back to the desk to prepare this month’s Q&A Series presentation on The BRPD Role. 12:30 – Lunch (and another walk with Ruby). 13:00 – Technical review and Design Team Meeting for a challenging apartment project. 15:00 – Coffee refill and finalising quotes. 16:00 – Last inbox check before heading out for an evening of live comedy. 22:00 – One final walk with Ruby under the night sky. Every day blends technical problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity, plus a few dramatic skies and South Downs views along the way!
MORGAN LAMBERT SUPPORTS CHILDREN’S CHARITY & EXPANDS CLIENT SERVICES Last month, members of the Morgan Lambert team, Alan Parker, Russell Slack, Lee Bradshaw and Julie Baker volunteered at a warehouse in Wetherby to support the Yorkshire Children’s Charity. Together with other volunteers, they helped pack winter clothing, bedding and essential toiletries to be sent to children across Yorkshire living in destitution. This year, teachers have identified 2,373 children in critical need of winter support, many going without food, warmth and basic hygiene essentials. Thanks to generous donations, 1,337 applications have already been funded, helping children stay safe and warm this winter. Lee Bradshaw, Managing Director, shared an update from Morgan Lambert: “I’m happy to share that we’ve onboarded two new clients. My Space Housing, based in Bolton, provides supported housing to some of the most vulnerable people in society, enabling tenants to live independently within their communities while receiving tenancy support. They provide homes across the Northwest and Northeast of England, as well as in the Midlands and Wales. We will be providing both gas and electrical audit services to support their new compliance programme. Nuneaton and Bedworth Council has procured Morgan Lambert’s ongoing consultancy services through the Procure Public framework. This follows a series of ad hoc consultancy projects delivered across both the gas and electrical management functions. We look forward to supporting Nuneaton and Bedworth Council with ongoing, regular site-based audits.”
QUALITAS CONSULTANCY GROWTH AND SUCCESS IN 2025 We spoke with Managing Building Regulations Consultant Andy Clark, who shared an update on the past year’s progress at Qualitas Compliance:
“The Qualitas Consultancy family has continued to grow over the last two years, with eight consultants now providing Building Regulations support to principal designers across the built environment. This year has seen advisory work delivered on healthcare projects, schools, commercial schemes and high risk residential buildings. Many clients have returned for further support, appreciating our responsive and collaborative approach to achieving compliant designs. Our training and development workshops are also gaining momentum, with Andy Alford hosting a series of free online technical Q&A sessions that may lead to more tailored workshops for existing and new clients. Feedback has been very positive, with attendees commenting: ‘A good presentation and slides accompanied with excellent knowledge we could follow.”
