Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Leah was educated in public schools. She earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Leah’s career spans over thirty-six years, with exceptional leadership in various healthcare settings. She joined the Memorial Healthcare System in 2002, where she held the position of Chief Nursing Officer at two of their facilities and Chief Executive Officer at three of their facilities. Leah’s most recent appointment was in May 2021, when she was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the entire system.

Before joining the Memorial Healthcare System, Leah served as Chief Nursing Officer at North Shore Medical Center in Miami. Before moving to South Florida, she held various clinical and leadership positions at Saint Barnabus, Beth Israel, and St. Clare’s Medical Centers.

Leah is active in numerous professional and civic organizations, including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Leadership Florida, March of Dimes, Miramar/Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce, STEAMd, Inc., YMCA of Broward County, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, South Florida Hospital, and Healthcare Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

She is a fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives. She has received local and national recognition in leadership, patient safety, quality, service excellence, and community service. Leah is a mentor and role model to many.

Leah currently resides in Miramar, Florida, where she lives with her 20-year-old son. She enjoys the theatre, traveling, reading, dancing, exercising, spending time on the beach, and quality time with her family. While she is passionate about her career and giving back to the community, the most important role she plays is mother to her beloved son DJ.
