President Joel Peinado’s Address to the Class of ‘23 “Graduates, 15 years ago you have embarked on an educational voyage that has transformed not only your minds but also your characters. You have encountered diverse perspectives, overcome challenges, and expanded your horizons. In the face of adversity, you have shown strength and resilience, refusing to be defined by the obstacles that stood in your path. Today, as you stand on the edge of a new chapter, I urge you to carry forward the values and lessons you have learned within these walls and become the responsible and caring leaders the IC mission and values stand for; do well and do good. Lebanon, a nation that has faced its own share of trials, has constantly taught us that in a world often divided by boundaries and differences, it is crucial to embrace diversity and build bridges of understanding. Remember that your education has not only equipped you with knowledge but also with the responsibility to make a positive impact on your communities and society at large. Each of you possesses the ability to be a catalyst for change, to foster understanding, and to create a more equitable world. As you step into the unknown, do not fear the uncertainties that lie ahead. Instead, view them as opportunities for growth, innovation, and transformation. Embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity that is deeply embedded in Lebanon’s heritage. Draw inspiration from the resilience and the creativity of this land and its people, who have time and again risen from the ashes to rebuild and reimagine a brighter future. Let the challenges you face ignite within you a passion for
progress and a determination to forge a better world. In the pursuit of your dreams, remember to cultivate empathy and compassion. The world needs leaders who are not only knowledgeable but also compassionate, who can navigate complexity with a sense of humanity and understanding. Reach out to those in need, lend a helping hand, and advocate for justice and equality. In doing so, you will discover that true fulfillment lies not in personal achievements alone but in the positive impact you can have on the lives of others. Graduates, as you prepare to leave IC, remember that your education does not end here and that Learning is a lifelong journey; cherish the friendships and memories forged during your time with your IC family; Stay connected through the ICAA, support one another, and celebrate each other’s successes. Together, you can create a powerful network of changemakers, each making their mark on the world in unique and meaningful ways. Finally, as you are concluding your journey at IC, I would like you to acknowledge those who supported you, encouraged you, and put you back on the path of improvement and learning when you erred away from it: your parents and your teachers. In conclusion, I would like now to send you off with this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Pursue your dreams and make us proud!
