The “San Juan’s” are one of the most beautiful, safest and peaceful places to live in this world. Yes, you have to take a ferry, boat, plane or helicopter to get here, but that is one of the reasons it is so safe, “crossing the moat”, as my father Sam Buck II, used to say. It’s also one of the reasons we’re not overgrown. We have a year-round population of just under 8,000 on San Juan Island and there’s about 16,000 people throughout all of San Juan County. That more than doubles in the summer time. There are many people who choose to live here that have seen the world, or that could literally choose to live anywhere.
