Leonard Seabrooke Programme Director of IBP

Welcome to IBP! It’s a great pleasure to write to you as the Programme Director for the BSc. and MSc. IBP degrees. I’ve been involved in IBP from the start, mainly teaching International Political Economy, a field of study you will come to know well in the coming years. The BSc. IBP degree is a combination of economics and finance, business & management studies, and political science and political economy. The aim of the degree is to enable you to see both the micro- and macro-elements of social and economic systems. You will be able to assess how firms develop strategies and the logics of managerial behaviour, as well as fostering analytical skills to understand and explain geopolitical and socio-economic trends. You will also know how to interpret financial statements and accounts and learn various ways of looking at data relevant to the social sciences through qualitative and quantitative methodologies. While this is a lot to take in, you have some considerably powerful help. The faculty, the administrators, and your fellow students will help you through the process.

Given we’ve all been in a pandemic for some time now, the faculty very much look forward to lectures and classes on campus this semester. That allows you to get to know each other better, as well as letting the faculty connect more. While online teaching has its own benefits, the classroom is a wonderful thing in allowing eye-to-eye contact, being able to ‘read the room’, and to know that putting your hand up and asking something you are unsure about is the purpose of education, since your peers will think the same and the faculty are there to help.

You are now university students, IBP students at that, and that means that we are looking for debate, placing focus not on learning scripted ‘right’ answers, but how to develop the critical and analytical skills that employers are looking for. To develop these skills you need concepts, theories and methodologies, which allow you to apply strategies and tactics for finding new information across a range of cases. You will be learning a lot of those.

On practical matters, please be aware that you have a compulsory Academic Integrity Test to complete in the few weeks. You’ll hear more about this in the coming weeks and it’s nothing to worry about, but something to attend to. Also on practical matters you should know that you have a say in what happens in IBP. The IBP Study Board is very active. Our work is organized by our excellent Programme Manager, Helle Bunde and me, and executed by the entire board, which includes a student Vice Chair and our IBP student representatives.

Once you know who your student representatives are don’t be shy in letting them know what you think.

This is where we - your mentors - will help! We are hired by CBS to make life a little bit easier for all you new IBP’ers during the next year. We will have group meetings with you and your fellow first year IBP students for support and study hack-sharing regarding group work, exams, planning, and everything you have in mind! Besides that, we will be available for one-on-one talks and sessions for all of you, so feel free to reach out to us at any time. Anna & Casper We are going to have the most fun because Anna and I are probably more excited for intro week than anyone else (including the new students!). With the positive energy we bring, we hope to connect well with all the new students and give them a great introduction to CBS, Copenhagen and Denmark!

Anna von Groß You are very engaged in IBP union as the vice president. What has been the biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?

Since we started our term in march, we were off to a kinda rough start as we couldn’t host any of our usual social or academic events or meet up within the branches. It definitely made it harder to motivate people to both come up with and organize safe events. I think through being determined to keep everyone engaged and creative in coming up with new ideas (such as IBP dinners, where people hosted and attended dinners with IBPers they didnt know from before, or the beer tasting walk), we have managed to have a great spring semester with fun events despite covid!

Finding accommodation in Copenhagen is not easy, especially not as an international. What is your best advice on how to find somewhere to live?

No, it’s definitely not easy and extra hard when you don’t anyone in the city. From my own limited experience, facebook groups are best if you are looking for a room. I looked for an apartment together with three friends, and we were more lucky with homepages (such as findbolig etc.) and contacting renting companies directly.

There are free trial periods on most pages, just make sure that you remember to cancel them and don’t continue to pay half a year after you actually moved :-) What does your typical weekend look like?

During the school term, I’d say that a typical weekend is meeting up with friends on the evenings and making dinner at each others places, taking the bike and going for a morning swim, eating a late breakfast or brunch and exploring the city. Usually, I also do some studying or IBP union stuff, but I try to keep the weekends as school free as possible.

Casper Øhlers You have a demanding student job and also a board member at LGBT+ in Denmark. What is your best advice to keep an organized daily life?

You have a demanding student job and also a board member at LGBT+ in Denmark. What is your best advice to keep a balanced and organized daily life? - The trick is to not search for perfection - at least for me. I try to find a balance between what I want to do in the moment and what I need to get done now to have fun later on. But it is a constant rollercoaster to juggle different responsibilities and also have time to just be young and wild and free. Hence, I try to not be too hard on myself when my juggling fails once in a while.

What is your dream job?

I want to make a difference in the world and can see myself both in the private and the public sector. I believe the best opportunities presents themselves through network and competencies. So right now the dream is just to be good at what I am doing and take it from there.

What is your go-to party starter song?

Love on top with Beyonce. Impossible to sit still!

Olympics Ida & Herman

In the Olympic intro group us tutors are like Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky and you guys are the water we need to swim in. We've been locked up and locked down for a year and we're so excited to meet you guys!

Ida Roloff Tüchsen Starting at university can be overwhelming and a big mouthful for many, what advice would you give the freshies about maintaining a balance between the social and academic part of starting at university?

The first couple of months at university is filled with so many new impressions both socially and academically and it is going to be both really fun and really exhausting. It is important to remember to prioritize yourself and your needs and allow yourself breaks from social gatherings, see old friends etc.

Furthermore, remember to help each other both academically and socially everyone thinks it's difficult and it takes time adjusting to university so don’t stress the academic stuff (you will definitely figure it out). The same goes for the social events and all the new people: remember to enjoy the first couple of months because they are going to be so much fun but allow yourself breaks and don’t panic if you haven’t found your 4 best friends during the first month – you have 3 years, and everything is going to work out just fine. However, my most important advice is to enjoy the intro and the first semester – it's going to be amazing and something you will remember for the rest of your studies.

When you were young, what did you think you would be doing at this age?

When I was young, I thought I was going to be a Formel-1 driver which is kind of ironic now as I don’t even have a drivers license. I also wanted to be an FBI agent (I saw way too many crime shows) but well I guess IBP is okay.

What did you do during your summer holidays?

After being locked up in Denmark for a year, I decided to spend my summer holidays travelling around Europe and being a true jet setter. I travelled to the Czech Republic, Spain and Italy and I also spend a couple of days in Tisvilde and Hornbæk. It was great.

Herman Jacobsen Being the head of IBP social, what is your best tip for freshies who would like to be part of the IBP social committee?

Showing that you care about the social life at IBP and that you on your own actively participate in making IBP the place it is, is the most important thing!

Other than that, we in the Social committee really look forward to reading the applications in the fall!

What is your favorite song at the moment and what is something everyone should listen to?

At the moment I'm really enjoying "Okay Okay" by Pino D'Angiò for those 80s summer vibes. But as nice as the summer vibes are, I think everyone should do their part and listen to the IBP podcast to stay up to date on everything IBP! What is the best place for a night out in Copenhagen?

Wherever the IBPers are! … or Kødbyen…

Malene & Harris

Our introgroup is going to have the most fun because we are going to take the festival vibe and spirit with us throughout the whole week: Fun people, fly dance moves, and looots of great memories.

Malene Bang You are a very motivated and disciplined student. What is your best way to destress after a long day at uni or work?

I de-stress by either seeing friends and fam out and about or by making some delicious homemade pasta ❤ I think my go to method is to do something, where you're not able to think of anything else while doing it. A good old crossword puzzle also does the trick!

What have you been excited about recently?

I started a new job recently, which I am very excited about! But more importantly, I am very excited about being a tutor and meeting the freshies in a short while!

What advice did you wish you had received around this time last year?

The advice I wish I had gotten last year would have to be that everyone wants to help you, you just have to ask - This applies to everyone; from your friends and tutors to the person behind the desk in the library. Uni life is exactly what you make of it ❤

Harris Hadzimahovic Looking back at your first year, is there anything you would have done differently and how?

Yes, there is! I am not the first nor the last student to realize that you do not have to read the whole curriculum to do well at uni. Some of the courses can be tough with all the reading, so prioritizing what you read, is something I would have done differently.

Being the head of IBP academic, can you reveal whether you you have any great events planned for the nearest future?

I can’t reveal much at the moment, but we have some really interesting international companies that we are trying to partner up with. There are many plans! However, this will be revealed when the semester gets going.

What is your favorite spot to go out for a beer with your friends?

That’s a hard one but I think Kølsters Tolv Haner is a nice place. They got a lot of different homemade draft beers which all taste great and the atmosphere is really cosy.

Sidse & Emilie

Our intro group will - without a doubt - have the most fun, as we are about to go to infinity and beyond. The sky will not be our limit, and we will be reaching for the stars, so prepare yourselves for a week which will be out of this world!

Sidse Overgaard Björnsson Why did you choose to study IBP to begin with?

When I was admitted to IBP I wasn’t sure if it was the right program for me. However, I knew a few people studying IBP, who convinced me by assuring that IBP is for sure the BEST program at CBS - and they turned out to be very right. Not only are the courses interesting, exploring both economics, politics, and the cohesion between the two. IBP is also such a social program, with sweet, helpful, and festive students. So even though I initially wasn’t sure about IBP, I haven’t regretted it for one minute!

What would you say is the most important things to keep in mind when starting at IBP as a freshie?

Everything will be very overwhelming at the beginning – new courses, new people, and maybe even a new city/country. Most of you probably wish to succeed academically as well as socially from the beginning. It might however take some time to get used to everything and to succeed. Therefore, try to remember that everyone is in the same boat and that you are not competitors but rather teammates. Don’t be afraid to ask others for help!

Even though we had to cancel and postpone many events and happenings due to Covoid-19, what would you say was your favorite so far of those we have had?

Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the gala this summer. But, I have heard that gala was a great event perfectly planned by the lovely IBP social! During the semesters I did, however, attend several IBP dinners, where students sign up to be either a guest or a host. These dinners made it possible to meet new people in a casual and cozy setting. To me, IBP dinners have been a great success during covid-19.

Emilie Villum Kjær Christensen

What is your dream scenario in the next 10 years?

I am not much of a planner, and most of the time I make plans very last minute, so I do not have any specific life plans made up already. However, I do wish to take a gap year between my Bachelor and Masters and spend the time traveling as much as possible and maybe even live a couple of years abroad after finishing my masters. However, I have no clue as to what job I would dream to be working in 10 years. To me, IBP can take you in so many interesting and exciting directions when it comes to having a career, and I have a really hard time choosing which way to go - at this point I find way too many jobs interesting to be choosing just one!

Being from a small village in Jutland, what was the biggest motivation for moving to Copenhagen?

Besides wanting to study IBP (which you can only do at CBS), my biggest motivation for moving to Copenhagen was definitely my family. I have a lot of older siblings who all live in Copenhagen, and ever since my oldest brother moved here 12 years ago, I have been looking forward to moving as well and thus being closer to him (and my other siblings) in my everyday life. Furthermore, having family in Copenhagen I have been coming to Copenhagen multiple times a year ever since I can remember, and I have always loved the city - especially in the summer time. So to be honest, I didn’t even consider moving anywhere but Copenhagen after finishing high school.

Fanny Jansson Where are you from and how has IBP made you feel at home?

I’m from Stockholm and moved to Copenhagen last year a day before intro started. IBP made me feel at home from the very beginning and it has continued to do so throughout the year. The people at IBP are genuinely open and warm and I’m so happy for the friendships I have made. Being a part of IBP social and joining the events during the year have been fantastic and I’ve had so much fun! You have made the right choice!!

Favorite Sunday activity?

Brunch! It is and will always be the best Sunday activity! If you’re going out for brunch I warmly recommend Granola’s located at Værnedamsvej which is also one of my favourite streets in Copenhagen.

If you had taken a completely different career path, what would you do?

I would have become a vet. It has always been my childhood dream. In Stockholm, I’ve been working with trotting horses my whole life and I’m an animal lover inside-out. Easy!

Halvard Gotaas Bonde What pros (and cons) have you experienced as an international student at CBS? As an international student at CBS, I had a very warm and welcoming experience. Although being a foreigner in a new country always is a bit tough, I feel that CBS does a great job to engage and include international students quickly. When I started uni, I really benefitted from the fact that everybody had to speak English, and that knowing Danish in no way was necessary to be socially or academically integrated. The school also helped a lot with information about all sorts of systems and papers we needed to sort out, as well as cultural differences one would l like to know (bicycling!). All in all, I would say that my experience as an international student at CBS is very good.

What are you looking most forward to in the upcoming semester?

Two things - in-person lectures and beers at Café Nexus. If there is anything I have learned after a year at uni during Covid, it must be that it is pretty great to sit in a lecturing hall - no matter how boring the subject is. And when Nexus bar also opens, it will hopefully bring some life and energy back to campus.

What is one thing, you need to survive the first semester?

Stress control. Most people, myself included, are really worried that they don’t study hard enough the first semester, and that everything is really complicated and confusing. However, normally things work out just fine, and you look back wondering how you could stress as much as you do. Remember that there are many other important things than school, and that university isn’t as hard as some like to picture it.

The ultimate week is soon to start and the tacky tourists will once again roam the streets of Copenhagen. As we have proclaimed ourselves to be the most excited tutor pair, as you’ll notice, we would also point out that if any questions arise we are here to answer them and help you have the best introduction to this amazing city and programme!

Moa Stierna Why did you choose CBS and Denmark as your study place?

Firstly, I feel in love with the possibility of combining business and politics from an international viewpoint! The balance between the two, but also the interplay that is studied at CBS is truly amazing! Secondly, I wanted to move to a big city and experience something completely new, whilst not moving to far away from my friends and family! That’s why I chose Copenhagen and Denmark! Also, you got to love Copenhagen don’t you?

What is your favorite place to go grab a coffee?

Any place alongside the lakes! My personal favorite is Cafè Livingstone, which also serves amazing brunch!!

What is the best thing about IBP? The feeling of togetherness! No doubt about it! I have never felt such inclusiveness and a sense of belonging as quick as I did starting IBP

What was the biggest challenge about moving to Copenhagen?

To be honest, the biggest challenge for me was to actually make the decision to move here. From leaving a comfort zone to a brand new city and country. With everything from finding housing, trying to understand the danish language and finding new friends. But a year later, here we are and it has proven to be the best decision I’ve ever made.

What’s your best memories from your time at IBP so far?

The best memories so far has to be from our intro week. Here you’ll have the first glance at all the amazing people that you will spend the next 3 years with. You are bound to have a great week!!

WWhat is the best place to meet your boys for a beer on a casual week-day?

Well, Copenhagen has everything and a tad more when it comes to beers. Some of my personal favorites so far has to be Det Elektriske Hjørne or one of many places in Kødbyen. But if the weather allows for it, Kihoskh on vesterbro is my top go-to place for a more chill after-school beer!

INTRO WEEK 2021

Under the Sea Johanne & Kasper

If you are one of the lucky ones, who ended up in our intro-group, you should prepare yourself for an unforgettable week accompanied by the coolest Jutlander and Copenhagener at the IBP-programme ;-) Also, you are probably going to be in the group with the most silly outfits (goggles, flippers and diving-cylinders), however we are not going to laugh at each other, but with each other!!

Johanne Høy Poulsen Festival vs. traveling?

Ugh, that is a delightful dilemma… Going to festivals - Roskilde Festival in particular - has been part of my summer plans since I was about 8 years old (Don’t worry, back then it was with my parents, who are also big fans of festivals), so naturally festivals have a special place in my heart.

However, travelling does too. I have been to many places around the world, although not enough, and the joy and memories travelling brings with it, is irreplaceable. All in all, I think the act of travelling is the winner here.

What has been your favorite IBP event?

Although we haven’t had a lot of events due to covid, the ones we have had was always a blast. The best one so far must be IBP gala, which was just the most perfect night ever. All the freshies should be looking forward to next year’s gala - I do already!

You own the most famous coffee truck at CBS. Where can I come buy a cup?

Haha, that’s right! It is also the best (and cheapest) in Copenhagen if you ask me. If you wanna try it, you can catch me around Nørrebro (usually Nørrebroparken or Nørrebro Runddel) or Frederiksberg. If you wanna be sure to see me there though go follow @kaffe_lyst on instagram ;)) - oups, is advertisement in the IBP-magazine even allowed?

Kasper Strunge Lauridsen

What is your favorite thing about IBP/Denmark?

My answer to both of those things gotta be Eddie Ashbee.<3 What are your go-to-tips to get through danish autumn and winter without getting depressed?

Go actually do something. It’s way too easy to sneak up under that blanket and fire up the netflix account, but you gotta resist that temptation once in a while! Pick up your favorite IBP’er and check out a museum, play some padel tennis or whatever’s fun for you.

What is the best place to meet your boys for a beer on a casual week-day?

To be honest, I’m not big on bars and clubs. I’d much more prefer to get a beer in some garden or an apartment. Although, if I had to pick a place it would be somewhere down-to-earth like Barkowski.

Caroline & Rasmus

Our intro group can only be a success as we are the fairytale intro group - and fairytales always end happily ever after.

Caroline Anthonsen What do you think is the biggest difference study-wise and/or socially between being in high school and studying at university?

I think the biggest difference for me was the feeling of freedom. Firstly, most people have just moved away from home which is an exciting step and then you furthermore start at a completely new place with all possibilities ahead of you, which is even more exiting. Secondly, you are only at university for you own sake and find almost all topics interesting, which to me gave me lots of drive. My experience with the social life at university compared to high school is that it is much easier to have a chat with people. Everyone is a bit more mature and there are so many people such that you will always find someone you match with. In general I think that uni is such a free experience and it is what you make of it - study wise and socially.

Are you part of any student societies at CBS? I am part of IBP union academic. So far we have not planned any events yet due to covid restrictions.

However, we have heaps of ideas for us all this fall semester. I will definitely recommend everyone to apply for the Union as it is heaps fun! We have lots of social events and you can contribute bringing your thoughts and ideas into reality!

What is your go-to lunch?

I really like going to fredco’s deli in the city center for their salads and juices. Buuut I also really like gasoline grill - depends on the mood!

Rasmus Feldt Jørgensen What has been the most interesting subject at IBP so far?

The most interesting subject at IBP so far has been Political and Economic Thought, otherwise known as PET. The historic perspective it presents on economic development is really interesting.

What are your best advice for the freshies on how to stay well and happy during exam periods?

My best advice for staying well and happy during exam period is to set expectations for yourself, and then make a plan which balances everything you want to accomplish during this specific exam period. It could be anything, birthdays you want to attend, work you want/need to do and of course the amount of studying which matches your expectations. Then the most important thing, is to trust your process.

Stressing usually does more harm than good, and keeps you unhappy. An additional thing to remember to keep in mind, is that exam is always a valid reason not to attend a thousand other events. Saying no, can make you happier and healthier.

What hobbies do you have outside of school?

Outside of school, my hobbies are cooking and running. When i cook, i usually enjoy doing it for or with other people. Running on the other hand is my escape from everything. I use it to think, or just get away from everything, and just focus all my energy on something which I enjoy.

Tropical Island Emma & Louisa

We are gonna have the most fun because We are are just like Hannah Montana, you get the best of both worlds. We will keep the freshies happy, hydrated and hopefully entertained through out the week.

Emma Wilson What would you say makes IBP special?

Might sound cliché but definitely the people. IBP is just a super social programme which is amazing and means that you are able to meet and socialise with so many different interesting people! We also help each other, which I didn’t quite expect, but at IBP sharing is really caring.

What is your favorite study snack?

When we were able to go to campus my go to snack was definitely the rye bread buns with pieces of chocolate in it. When studying at home I like to make different kinds of smoothies

What is your best memory from the previous year at CBS/IBP? Probably my introduction week where I got to meet all my amazing fellow students! It was such a fun week and everyone was so outgoing. Other than that I really enjoyed the IBP Galla, it was a great event to wrap the school year up and to catch up with friends before summer holidays - that was just a super fun night!!

Louisa Dohm Mogensen Are you more business or politics?

To me business and politics are like peanut butter and jelly - I like them both on their own - but they are magical together!

What is your greatest memory from intro last year?

Meeting so many funny, sweet, beer-loving ( ;-) ) and just overall great people! It was a blast.

Where do you work and do you have any tips for balancing a demanding student job and your university studies?

I work in the Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv) in the Climate and Energy team. To be honest, I just throw everything into my calender and pray for the best. Then I take one thing at a time usually everything works out just fine

HOW TO PREPARE FOR During intro week, we hope to give you a good and social start to your life at CBS. The week, which is made up with a mix of academic and social activities, aims to provide you with the information and tips necessary to be ready for study start while making friends along the way.

Here comes a couple of things you should bring and be aware of during intro week, as well as a little check/to-do-list for international students.

THINGS YOU NEED DURING INTRO:

AFTER INTRO: WHAT TO KNOW

Good clothing! We’re going to be a lot outdoors, so make sure you dress well. Some of the activities will also demand a lot of walking, so make sure to bring something that’s comfortable to walk in.

An open mind! Even though being a no-person is pretty cool, it makes intro week better for everyone if you go into the week with a smile and a will to get to know people. Come to events, and dare to participate in awkward games. After all, it’s only temporary A snack and a water bottle! Some days will run long and to have a small snack and some water with you will make your energy last a few more hours.

Unions CBS offers a lot of different unions.

These are often an entry to get to know people from other programs at uni, as well as spending times doing things you like. The unions range in both size and ambition, and covers interests in everything from alcohol to sports. The most high-class ones are of course the three branches of the IBP union - make sure to check them out and pass on a like to the facebook pages. The three branches are IBP Communications, IBP Academics and IBP Social. They take in new members each fall, and all IBP students are invited and welcome to attend all union events through out the year.

(Optional) A Bike: Although Copenhagen has a good public transport system, the by far easiest way of getting around the city is by biking. It is also a great way to explore the city and see all the beautiful places Copenhagen can offer. The intro program will not require a bicycle, but we recommend to get one as a cheap and healthy mean of transportation.

Library card and student ID In order to loan books, log into libsearch (CBSs digital database) and access some parts of campus, you will need to get a library card. The card can be easily attained through mycbs.dk, and picked up in the reception. Café Nexus Café Nexus is the social meeting point at CBS. Although being closed for almost a year, the staff are now ready to welcome CBS students back into their warm and welcoming café.

Located in the corner of Solbjerg Plads, Nexus offers a variety of services, from pastries and coffee in the morning to beer and events in the evening. Most notably are the events held (hopefully) every Thursday, where some of the most up-and-coming and exciting artists from all of Copenhagen often comes to perform. IBPers also has a tendency of hanging out there on Fridays - drop by for a reasonably priced beer and a good time.

As a foreigner in Denmark, there are a couple of things that are good to sort out sooner rather than later. Danish bureaucracy can feel quite rigid and slow sometimes, but if you sort out the essentials it should be easier to navigate.

However, the processing time can be quite long, so it really pays off to start as soon as possible. Here follow three steps that every foreigner should do: Registration Upon arrival in Denmark, all foreigners have to register their stay in the country. For students coming from EU/EFTA countries, this is rather easy. Make an appointment at your local borgerservice, and tell them how long and where you intend to stay. If you haven’t found a permanent place to stay yet, just tell them that you’re searching and will let them know when you find something. They are normally quite understanding. If you come from outside EU/EFTA, the same process applies, but you will have to get a proof of registration.

CPR-number Once you have registered in Denmark, you can apply for a CPR-number. A CPR-number is basically like a social security number, and it is essential to have in order to make a bank account, get a health card and much more. Although the application for a CPR-number is long, you normally get good help from the people at Borger.dk or your local commune in order to fill it out. However, get started quickly, because the processing of the application may take some time.

Bank account and MobilePay After you get your CPR-number, you can make a bank account. Once again the waiting time can be really long, and some banks take months to answer application. Make sure to read up on the necessary documents required, as well as registering at the tax authorities if you shall find a study job in Copenhagen.

MobilePay is the go-to mean of payment for small sums between friends, and can be really nice to download. Note, however, that it requires both a Danish bank account as well as a Danish phone number and CPR-number. This means that it might take a while before you get it, so it might be an idea to drag around on some cash until you get it.

SURVIVAL GUIDE: TIPS FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR

To be a new student, at a new school and perhaps in a new city, can be quite scary. In order to make your first year at IBP a bit smoother, we have gathered our best tips & information for surviving at IBP and CBS. Following will be a short introduction to a few of all the student organizations at CBS, as well as description of what student citizenship is, and of course some last tips and tricks! Enjoy!

Student organizations At CBS, there are over 100 different student societies and organisations that are facilitated by CBS Students. Joining a student organisation is an amazing opportunity to meet new people, develop academically or professionally, get active, or just try something new. From CBS Beer and CBS Running, to TechLabs, CBS Political Opinion and CBS Private Equity, there is truly something for everyone. During intro week, you will be introduced to a few of them, but you can find a full list at cbsstudents.dk and attend the Semester Start Celebration Day (happening on September, 10th) and the Student Society Day (happening on September, 16th) to find the right fit for you.

IBP Union As the oldest student union at Copenhagen Business School, IBP Union puts a virtue in creating the best study environment for students in the International Business and Politics programme. The IBP Union covers three branches – IBP Academic, IBP Social and IBP Communications, in which events are organized to improve the academic skills of our students, to create a better social sphere of the student environment and to keep you all up-todate on social media and through the IBP magazine.

CBS Case Club CBS Case Club was founded in 2017 with the aim of training ambitious students in solving and presenting cases. CBS Trading CBS Trading is a student organization at Copenhagen Business School for students with an interest in the financial markets. We are committed to building a strong network to raise awareness about the endless possibilities within stock trading. Through valuable partnerships with relevant companies, we strive to provide participants with the best learning environment and to secure a smooth entry into the financial world of investing.

We make investing less complicated! CBS Trading facilitates financial-oriented events and workshops in collaboration with financial experts and professionals. Our primary focus is on stock trading and investing.

Our vision is to provide the framework necessary to increase our student’s knowledge of the financial markets, and our mission is to engage more students in investing and trading. We offer a community based on the sharing of knowledge, where beginners, as well as experienced stock traders, will get a chance to develop their skills.

CBS United Nations We are a group of CBS students who are interested in the United Nations, world affairs and diplomacy. Some are SDG-nerds, some are geopolitical nerds, and some just want to learn more about the UN. The key purpose of CBS United Nations is to gain a deeper understanding of global issues and their implications for the ongoing development of the global political economy. We participate in UN activities in Copenhagen and Model United Nations (MUN) conferences all around the world. This means we get to travel, argue, negotiate, and dress like UN diplomats and experience what it's like to attend a formal UN meeting.

Through our activities, we facilitate a networking space where you can meet students with like minded interests and gain inspiration for career paths in the UN system.

Copenhagen Debating Society (CDS) Want to beat your opponents (domestic and internationally) using facts and logic? Well there is a society for you! At Copenhagen Debating Society, you not only will learn how to create arguments and prove them true, you’ll also get to prove your mettle against other debaters worldwide. At CDS, you’ll be given a learning platform curated to your strengths, weaknesses, and goals within debating as well as a mentor who will help you with said goals, you’ll also be given a massive network of not only similarly minded students in the society but also students worldwide within the debating community. CDS also offers you a practical gain with joining the society as all of our alumni use the lessons and experiences from debate in their professional life. As such, CDS is the only society that gives you social integration, a competitive experience, and furthering your professional career.

Student citizenship (Slightly edited text from my.cbs.dk) When going on exchange in your third semester, the places are allocated on the basis of an overall assessment of you as a student. The overall assessment includes your grades from your exams during the first year ( 85% weight) as well as Student Citizenship (15% weight). Student citizenship can be a bit confusing, so here is a quick guide.

The rules for activities are as follows: a maximum of 3 activities can be included in Student Citizenship a maximum of 1 activity from each category can be included activities must be documented to be included activities must be finished and approved before the application deadline (the deadline depends on when you apply for exchange; the first one is the 15th of November).

Student Citizenship is about involvement and active participation in campus life, your programme and CBS. Some tips and tricks from the tutors: - SHARING IS CARING: This statement is truly the heart of IBP. In order to make the most of your studies and social life, we need to help each other out. If you share your notes from a lecture with a fellow IBP'er then you will probably get twice the help back when you are in need!

- ASK YOUR MENTOR: They have a lot of experience and are eager to help every single one of you. Do not be afraid to ask them about anything study related. They probably have the answer, and if they don't, they know who will.

- SOCIALIZE: It might seem scary to join a student organization, or to invite your new friend to a coffee/study date, but at the end of the day you will never regret it. IBP is a very social prorgamme and there is always gonna be someone that is up for hanging out.

- ATTEND THE IBP UNION EVENTS: This is probably the best place to get to know all IBP'ers from all different years. You will never have a bad time at a union event, and they will range between everything from political debates to amazing parties.

- DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN: Of course you should study and do your best, but if you miss one lecture because of work or you don't have time for all the reading in PET because you went home to your family over the weekend, the world will not end ;) Do your best, but do not forget to have fun and relax from time to time!
