“Almost all competent painters think of themselves as realists or as those who explore aspects, or expand concepts of reality; if one painter’s work appears different f rom another’s, it is because each defines reality differently, or because each chooses to examine a different aspect of reality.” -(William Dunning, Changing Images of Pictorial Space.) 1991 , Syracuse University, 170. “Being inexhaustible, life and nature are a constant stimulus for a creative mind.” -Hans Hof mann

It is a privilege to present this, the first of a series of selected works of New York Studio School Alum and Friends. When I initially requested our members to post websites, I did not imagine the impressive collection of work that then would appear. And now, to select a group of ten for this show would be near impossible. However I believe I have found a fine compatible set, which, though varied in concept share an intensity as well as unique thoughtful point of view . The works are set into the same scale template : IRL they are a variety of scales. Though we thus have an opportunity to better view these works in a VR walk through. We look forward to continuing this series so as to include numerous group members. Judy Rifka, May 2020
