Continuing Education

The deadline to complete the required 15 hours of continuing education for Massachusetts licenses is July 31, 2022. To date, the Board of State Electrical Examiners (BSEE) has not extended the deadline. Journeyman and Technician in-person and online classes are still available. Master’s Prep Classes

We are happy to offer an in-person Master’s Prep Class beginning in March. This 30-hour course is designed to help prepare Journeymen for the Massachusetts Master License examination and will provide a thorough and comprehensive review of the application process, sample test questions and calculations required for the examination. Please note that this course does not cover the full 150 hours of education necessary to apply for the exam. For more information, visit:

NEW! Apprentice Laptops and Office 365

The JATC is happy to announce that moving forward and beginning this year, all first year apprentices will be issued a laptop with single login to the JATC wireless network, the National Learning Management System and the JATC Canvas classroom management system. Each apprentice will also be issued an @bostonjatc.org email address through Microsoft Office 365 with access to the Microsoft Office 365 applications suite.

Apprentice School Schedule

The 2021-2022 school year started late (November) and we’re still playing catch up due to delays associated with COVID-19. The school year will run into the summer again (late July in some cases). We are optimistic that we will be back to normal schedules beginning in September for the 2022-2023 school year.

JATC Applicant Update

The JATC received over 2,000 applications in November. Applicants completed their aptitude testing at the end of January. Test results will be mailed out to applicants by April 1, 2022. Those who qualify will be interviewed in mid-April. New apprentice selections will be finalized in May and those accepted will be notified in early June and processed into the program during the summer months.
