SUB HEADER HEADER JATC UPDATE

The JATC is open for walk-in member services, and all apprentice classes have resumed to pre-pandemic levels. To expedite your business, please call ahead at 617-436-0980. Our summer hours are from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Applicant Update

Applicants from the 2021-2022 application cycle who took the aptitude test in January and qualified for an interview were notified on March 31, 2022, that interviews will be conducted beginning late April and into early May of 2021. Candidates were notified if they were accepted to the program by June 3, 2022. New, first-year apprentices will attend orientation in the summer months and will be assigned to work shortly after in June, July and August.

The JATC Trustees expect to open the applications for the 2022-2023 cycle in November of 2022.

JATC Training Activities

The JATC’s full catalog of continuing education offerings will be announced in the Fall of 2022. In the meantime, please visit our website for online continuing education classes, which include CPR/First Aid, OSHA-10 & 30, Hot Works, Harassment Training, and a variety of Cisco Learning Academy classes.

Code Update Classes

The deadline to complete the required 15-hours of continuing education and 6-hours of related education for MASSACHUSETTS licenses is July 31, 2022. Local 103 and the JATC are offering members free, in-person and online Code Update (15-hour and 6-hour) classes through our website. License Renewal

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure/Board of State Electrical Examiners is now accepting payments for license renewals. All licensees must be renewed online by no later than July 31, 2022. You can begin to renew your license through the e-licensing portal. Ben Franklin Announcement

Associates in Science in Engineering Technology - Renewable Energy Technology Concentration

Program Description Through this partnership program, IBEW members will earn an Associates in Science in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Renewable Energy Technology. Graduates of both the Installer/ Technician and Inside Wireman Apprenticeship Training Programs will earn 34 credits in transfer. The balance of 36 credits of general education and technical courses will be delivered to members over 2 years. Graduates may continue their education at BFIT at the completion of this Associate Degree. Possible program of study includes a Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology in areas such as Renewable Energy and Environmental Engineering.
