Perched above the turquoise waters of Elys Harbour in Sandys, this newly built home features a colourful, open-plan kitchen that’s both practical and inviting — the perfect fit for a busy family with three children and multiple pets.
The owners wanted a kitchen that flowed easily, connected seamlessly to the outdoors, and made entertaining effortless. To bring this vision to life, they turned to HASCO Home designer Mckenzie Hassell, who transformed the large open space into a harmonious blend of colour, warmth, and personality.
At the heart of the design is a bold backsplash and striking blue-and-white cabinetry. The standout gloss ceramic tiles pair beautifully with the dramatic quartz countertop, finished with a waterfall edge on the island. Overhead, two oversized pendants add sculptural impact. Each weighing 115 lbs, their grey exteriors and sandy white interiors echo the coastal palette.
The cabinetry, finished in white and navy, provides balance and depth, while oak flooring ties the kitchen and living areas together. Custom oak beams and matching wooden doors enhance the natural warmth, complemented by polished nickel hardware — a timeless, cohesive choice.
Function was equally important. The island comfortably seats eight and conceals a KitchenAid microwave,
double-drawer fridge, and generous storage. The main appliances — fridge, range, and dishwasher — are also KitchenAid, chosen for their consistent stainless finish. A pot-filler above the range and a farmhouse sink combine practicality with style.
To make entertaining effortless, the kitchen opens onto two verandahs with spectacular harbour views — ideal for alfresco dining or sunset relaxation.
“It’s very open,” says the owner. “The kids do their homework while I’m cooking — and the sunsets are incredible.”

Tucked away down a quiet lane in Paget, what was once two derelict onebedroom apartments has been reborn as a charming three-bedroom, two-bathroom family cottage — a masterclass in maximising space without sacrificing style.
To help transform the property, the owners turned to HASCO Home interior designer Blake Walls, who was tasked with creating an organic, fresh and welcoming atmosphere for a young family of three — all within a compact footprint. Her approach: make every inch count.
The thoughtful coordination of materials, colours, and textures gives the home a sense of warmth and flow. The kitchen, just 124 square feet, is a model of efficiency. A double-bowl sink doubles as a drying rack with its roll mat and grates, while every cabinet and corner is carefully purposed — from a narrow pull-out for dish towels to peg drawers for pots and plates. Even the oven vent is cleverly hidden
behind a cabinet for clean, unbroken lines. The sage-green cabinetry, paired with white backsplash tiles and countertop, achieves a natural yet refined aesthetic. Champagne bronze hardware adds warmth throughout the house, chosen for consistency in this open, single-level layout — even the heated towel rails match.
In the bathrooms, smart design continues. A compact 54-inch tub fits perfectly into the child’s bathroom, while both spaces feature custom vanities, quartz pavers, and elongated tiles that enhance the feeling of space. Recessed medicine cabinets, generous shower niches, and a frosted glass pocket door ensure that storage and practicality blend seamlessly with style.
Finally, the home’s cohesive design is tied together with engineered plank flooring and a Benjamin Moore paint named Calm on the walls — a fitting name, says the designer with a smile: “It suits it. It’s very calming in here.”
The result is a light, airy cottage that feels much larger than its modest size — a triumph of thoughtful design and creative use of space, proving that with vision and care, even the smallest homes can live beautifully.

“We have a strong passion for making rooms feel as spacious as possible, so we wanted to incorporate a lot of white,” explains the owner, who envisioned a minimalist organic modern look. To bring this to life, Hassell used custom white oak cabinets and island, and sleek upper cabinets.

parents,” says the owner. “This lets us stay productive but still be with the family.”
Downstairs, the home’s entertainment level features a relaxed TV room, gym, and patio. A black-accented kitchenette provides convenience for parties and movie nights — a daring design choice the owners credit to HASCO’s encouragement to “step outside our comfort zone.”

a maze of walls and hallways. “People would get lost in this house,” laughs the owner. “And you never saw the view,” adds Richardson-Botelho. “When I first arrived, I thought, ‘Wow—how could you enter and not capture that?’”
The redesign not only brought sweeping ocean views indoors but also created a sense of harmony and flow. The owners wanted improved outdoor living spaces, as their previous verandah—located far from the
kitchen—was sunny but lacked shade for much of the day.
Today, a Mediterranean-inspired courtyard welcomes visitors with a sunken garden and pergola, while an expansive covered terrace off the open-plan kitchen and living room has become the heart of the home. Complete with a fireplace and wide railings perfect for resting drinks, it’s an entertainer’s dream. “We had 20 cousins over,” says the owner. “It was the easiest
gathering we’ve ever done.”
The key to success was light, openness, and structure. Removing walls and concealing a major beam with a flitch beam—a steel plate sandwiched between wood—created an uninterrupted living space. Engineering firm Entech and the General Contracting firm Vieira’s Construction & Painting helped make the complex transformation seamless.
Inside, blue cabinetry anchors the
custom kitchen, complementing both the water views and the family’s extensive art collection. White acrylic counters, minimalist shelving, and statement pendant lights add modern simplicity. A clever pantry—converted from a narrow hallway—includes a wine fridge, coffee station, and even a “dog drawer” for treats and leashes. Throughout the home, a blend of modern craftsmanship and personal touches prevails. The powder room

features a white ceramic vessel sink atop a cedar base made from reclaimed logs, while the outdoor bathroom includes a concrete sink and floating shelf—perfect for rinsing off after a swim.
A reimagined main bathroom adds spa-like serenity. Subtle lighting throughout the home enhances the peaceful ambience, from under-mirror glows to courtyard sconces that bring the property to life at night.
“It’s all about connection,” says Richardson-Botelho. “To light, to family, and to the view that makes this home so special.”

The transformation was orchestrated by interior designer Sarah O’Brien of CTX Design Group, as part of a broader renovation of the home. “It was about
giving the clients a bathroom that felt calm, warm, and timeless,” says O’Brien. “Something that reflected the character of the house and their own understated taste.”
By extending the original footprint, O’Brien and her team were able to strip the space back to its shell and introduce a layout that balances function and flow. A freestanding tub now sits beside a generous walk-in shower and private toilet room, while a bespoke double vanity brings symmetry and purpose.
Porcelain tiles from Bermuda Brickyard provide a neutral foundation, complemented by subtly patterned flooring that adds personality without distraction. Behind the tub, a slender strip of woodlook tile connects the room to the oak flooring that runs throughout the rest of the home — creating visual continuity and a sense of calm.

Every detail — from the durable porcelain surfaces to the gentle metallic accents — was chosen for both feel and form. “Bathrooms can easily tip into being
cold,” says O’Brien. “Here we wanted warmth and tactility, a space that feels lived-in and loved.”
That same philosophy extends throughout the home. The powder room features a bold blush tile, while the kitchen embraces natural tones and textures. Together, these spaces create a home of quiet luxury — elegant, grounded, and deeply personal.
“It’s a bathroom that invites you to pause,” says O’Brien. “Graceful, modern,
and completely personal — the kind of space that makes you exhale the moment you walk in.”

“The original kitchen felt cramped and disconnected,” O’Brien explains. “We wanted to open it up, improve the flow, and introduce warmth and character through materials.”
The redesigned kitchen now centres on a striking deep green island, providing bold contrast to crisp white cabinetry. Overhead, oak beams lend a sense of heritage and craft, softening the clean lines below. “The beams make the space feel lived-in and layered,” says O’Brien. “They tie the new design back to the house’s original charm.”

dedicated coffee and dry bar adds a touch of daily luxury, reflecting how modern families truly live. “It’s the most-used room in the house,” O’Brien adds. “We wanted it to be practical but still a joy to spend time in.”

The home’s original round window, now painted a deep, moody tone, pays homage to the property’s character.
The powder room, though compact, carries its own sense of artistry. A floating concrete sink makes a sculptural statement, paired with terrazzo and tiles
that add texture and depth. “Even the smallest space can have presence,” says O’Brien.
Throughout the home, materials and craftsmanship are quietly confident — timeless rather than trendy. “This client gave us incredible creative freedom,” O’Brien reflects. “They trusted the process, which allowed us to bring warmth, character, and a little playfulness into each room. It’s a home that feels harmonious, thoughtful, and full of personality.”

Timeless Modern Masterpiece
When the owners of a grand Fairylands property enlisted CTX Design Group for a full-scale renovation, the kitchen was always destined to be the star.
What had been a dark, dated space — one that hadn’t seen love or lacquer in decades — was stripped back to its bones. “It wasn’t the kind of room you could fix with a lick of paint,” says Maddy White, Senior Interior Designer at CTX. “It needed a complete rethink.”
The remodel began with an act of architectural liberation. CTX widened the archway that once separated the kitchen from the living room, creating a stronger visual and social connection between the two spaces. New doors and a larger triple window now invite natural light from the garden and pool, framing a view that’s as practical as it is picturesque.
“The kitchen is the heart of the home,” explains White. “It’s where people gather, talk, eat, and live. You should be able to cook while still part of the conversation
— or keep an eye on children playing outside.” The result is an airy, convivial hub that feels effortless and inviting, from morning coffee to evening cocktails.
Continuity was key to the home’s relaxed flow. CTX carried engineered wood flooring seamlessly through the open-plan living area. “Engineered wood is perfect for Bermuda’s climate,” says White. “It’s more stable than solid wood
in the humidity, but still brings warmth that tiles can’t.”
Cabinetry from Salt, supplied by Christiana — a boutique, family-run U.S. manufacturer known for bespoke craftsmanship — anchors the design. Softly painted off-white perimeter cabinets contrast with a darker oak island, while marble countertops and backsplash add subtle drama. Solid bronze hardware pulls and handles age gracefully, developing a rich patina over time.
A hidden pantry disguised as tall cabinetry conceals a fully fitted storage space, keeping the main kitchen visually calm and clutter-free. Inside, a more economical system delivers practical luxury.
Above the bar, glass-fronted curio cabinets echo the oak island tones, while a custom masonry hood, polished nickel taps, and Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances supplied complete the refined look.
Although created for the rental market, the kitchen was designed with the care of a personal commission. “A kitchen has to respond to how people live,” says White. “Whether cooking, entertaining, or just gathering with family — it should function beautifully.”

Inside a stately early-1900s Paget home, CTX Design Group has breathed new life into two compact yet characterful spaces — a guest bathroom and a family laundry — proving that small rooms can deliver big impact.
“The house is listed, so we had to be very respectful,” explains Maddy White, Senior Interior Designer at CTX. “Our aim was to honour its heritage while creating interiors that feel refined and enduring, not just historically accurate.”
In the guest bathroom, pristine Thassos marble — a pure white Greek stone — forms a serene backdrop for a vibrant blue glass mosaic that adds depth and sparkle. Polished nickel fixtures nod to the home’s period origins, while a vanity with open towel shelving brings a subtle touch of hotel-style luxury.
“The client wanted guests to feel like they were staying somewhere special,” says White.
Downstairs, the laundry room offers a more intimate but equally thoughtful design. Two washers and two dryers are cleverly built into custom cabinetry, balanced by a richly veined marble countertop and a handcrafted tile backsplash from Morocco. “It’s a small but mighty space,” White adds. “Because it was compact, we could use really
beautiful finishes.”
Throughout both rooms, CTX’s careful restoration respects the home’s original craftsmanship while quietly elevating it. “Historical homes have so much soul,” says White. “Our job is to let that shine.”
