With all the difficulty brought on by the pandemic these past couple of years, we have been so blessed to have our wonderful #teamIBB that keeps growing, our dependable manufacturing partners who keep innovating stunning new product lines, and our honorable vendors who continue to step things up to help make IBB the best furnishings store in the country. It was always my dream to provide unique, high-quality designer furnishings made available right off the showroom, and we have done just that for more than 42 years now! The primary bedroom is your sanctuary. It is the place where you go to escape the world and recharge. Given that concept, the primary needs to be comfortable and attractive too. Using a neutral palette, you easily accomplish both goals. Every primary bedroom should reflect the taste and lifestyles of all that share the room. So no to matchy-matchy primary bedrooms. It is great to bring in things that you have gathered over the years to create personal interest and to keep comfort levels high. I personally avoid pictures of friends, family and children in the primary. They often bring up memories that can cause unrest. Stick to pictures of you and your partner or scenes of your travels. In going with a neutral palette in your linens, you open the door to letting the art and accessories shine. Choose furniture pieces that supply generous storage and reflect your personality and style. Nightstands often do not match. One may like drawers, while the other prefers an open bottom or shelves. Others prefer the symmetry of matching nightstands. I do prefer a matching pair of bedside lamps to add an element of calm and unity. You work hard to provide a safe and comfortable “home” for your family. That is why you should allow yourself to enjoy your primary bedroom the way you want it. Furnish and accessorize the way that is soothing to you. Others can certainly have their thoughts and opinions on other rooms in your home, but when it comes to the primary it is all about you. Collections of books, either in shelves or stacked on tables, create a collected look, while allowing a display of books on all the subjects you love.

At the onset of a project, I am often asked, ‘Where in the world do we start?’ That is the beauty of my job, as a creative person, there really isn’t a concrete answer. Often, we might obtain the inspiration for the basis of a project from a rug, a piece of art, or even a color palette that speaks to us. I find that art can really transform a room, convey a message, or even stimulate one’s imagination and thus can be a fantastic jumping off point. While we want the art piece to complement one’s interior, I don’t feel that it must match your color palette precisely, it’s ok if the hue and lightness vary. This is where a designer's trained eye can be of value. In selecting your art pieces, we take many things into consideration such as the architecture of the room, wall color, ceiling heights and overall function of the room. Art really can be the focal point of a room creating the mood and setting a tone. Once it is selected, we can build out the room from there. I also love how throwing in an unexpected piece here and there can create an overall curated feel.
Collaging art is also a nice way to collectively add to your pieces while creating interest, especially when your favored piece may not be quite large enough for the space, comingling it with other pieces can be quite effective. Lastly, the mistakes I see committed most often is hanging art too high and selecting pieces that are too small for the space. Art should be hung at an average eye level in most cases so that it can be admired comfortably. I often see it hung entirely too high or not in conjunction with the furnishings. Size wise, a good rule of thumb is to cover around 70% of the blank wall space above a piece of furniture with art. That is not to say that every wall needs art, it is important to leave empty space for the eye to rest. Again, this is really something a designer can aid in the decision process of art placement to create a well-balanced and interesting space.

Dining
One of the best ways to make an impact in any room of your home is by opting for bold color. That’s exactly what I chose to do in this dining room. Greens are quickly becoming a popular color to introduce into your palette, and I really wanted to make a splash with it in this setup. From the bold, custom artwork and the brightly colored moss florals, to the gorgeous velvet dining chairs and the palm in the corner, green is everywhere in this room, and I love it! The bold geometric (yet neutral) rug is another fun pop that brings interest to the ground and emphasizes the beautiful oversized live edge table. You’ll see that there is also a mix of

both silver and gold metals in this room. The reflective silver finish on the table base ties together with the more honed silver finish on the hand-carved Belgian silver credenza. A gold bar cart mixes beautifully with gold lamps and a pop of gold accessories around the room. Don’t be afraid to mix and match your metals; as long as you are tying at least three elements together, you can’t go wrong. This also gives you the opportunity to mix and match new items over a longer period of time. Gone are the days of being tied to one finish. Mixing it up adds interest and variety to your space. Whether you choose a shade of green or any other color, go bold!

I’m excited to finally reveal our daughter Brooklyn’s new room to you! After experiencing many lengthy delays on her new furnishings and decor, her room refresh is finally complete. We kept many of her big pieces and selected new elements that would give her a fresh new look that fits her style. She requested a palette of blush, black, and silver. She
loves pink but wanted to change the hot pink to a blush shade in order to achieve a softer and more sophisticated look. We painted all of her trim and doors white. Her bed wall was wallpapered in a blush, metallic, cork-patterned paper, and we painted the rest of the walls in Sherwin-Williams Innocence. We kept her original nightstands and bed, but we reupholstered her bed

in a blush performance fabric. She’s a big fan of my Madame Butterfly fabric, so our workroom made Euro shams out of the blush colorway for her bedding. We used a blush faux fur pillow in front of the Euros because she loves cozy textures. A new rug under her bed grounds the space and adds tonal pattern. We paired new pendant lighting and mirrors with her nightstands. White metallic sheer drapery panels hanging from polished nickel and acrylic hardware dress her windows. Brooklyn wanted a desk in her room to give her a designated workspace of her own as well as an area to do artwork. We re-covered her hot pink chair in a black cut velvet fabric with a butterfly pattern. We hung her neon sign spelling out her name above her desk. You may have seen the great debate on social media over doing a gallery wall or floating shelves on her desk wall. Brooklyn wanted a gallery wall with her art, and I wanted to layer her art on floating shelves. In the end, we compromised by incorporating an acrylic shelf into her gallery wall where she can display her medals. The new marblepatterned wallpaper really transformed her bathroom. We also painted her vanity in

Sherwin-Williams Innocence. We took down her fabric valance and panels around her bathtub and installed a frameless glass shower door. We ended up re-covering and using her previous vanity chair with her desk and used her new desk chair at her vanity. We loved the white against her blush
vanity, and since it’s upholstered in a vegan leather, spills wipe up easily. Brooklyn absolutely loves how her room refresh turned out! Stay tuned to our social media for more details and some exciting giveaways with our vendor partners @designershay @ibbdesign.

Photo by Audrie Dollins During Victorian times in Britain, homes were mostly heated and lit with coal and oil. As one might expect, the burning of these resources left a sooty residue on pretty much everything, from the windows to the walls (not to be confused with the song "Get Low" by Lil John and the East Side Boyz), the carpets, the furniture, etc. Once spring rolled in and the weather started to get warmer, women would go outside and beat carpets to get rid of the dust and grime; windows would be flung open and cleaned, and all that soot and dirt would finally be wiped away in the home, allowing fresh spring air to purify the stuffy atmosphere that was present all winter. This is just one origin story of how this tradition of spring cleaning became regular practice in our modern lives. It's a truth universally acknowledged: An organized home is a happy home! And not just because it's easier to find what you need. In fact, research has shown that cluttered spaces can cause more unnecessary stress than you might think. Having a plan in place to help simplify, streamline, and banish clutter throughout your spaces is very important for the success of your cleaning progression. To get started, there are a few simple organizing rules to keep in mind. Let’s start with the KITCHEN! When you can, it's always helpful to group like items together and sort them by the frequency of which you use or wear them. In other words, don't let your fine dinnerware take up precious space in the pantry when everyday mugs and neatly stacked bowls could be of better use. Sort items vertically: Store your most frequently used items in the most accessible places. Keep things you use most often at eye level; store heavy items below waist level and infrequently used items on high shelves or in another area of the house. Stack trays and platters by shape: round platters in one stack, oblong platters in another. Or lean platters against the back wall of a cabinet (secure them using rubber bumpers) and stack plates in front. Use baskets and bins to contain small items that might otherwise create clutter, such as spices, dish towels, or cleaning supplies. Let’s talk about the ENTRYWAY: Keeping the entryway organized will result in fewer lost mittens, forgotten mail, and misplaced keys. Whether you live in a house or an apartment, a systematic entryway will keep things neat and save you time. Add a table. Create a place to set things down temporarily. A demilune (half-round) table or small console set against a wall can hold shopping bags and mail while you remove coats and footwear. Create entryway bins: Get bins for things you need on your way in or out. Attach photos of each family member on his or her bin. Hang dog leashes and umbrellas on hooks.

For everything else, be sure that entryway bins or baskets are sorted and emptied weekly. Let’s do the MAIN LIVING AREAS: Organize your hobbies: By organizing the items you need for your favorite hobby, you might feel motivated to do it more. For example, if you like gardening, consider making an organized gardening station. Use shelving to spread out everything you need to garden: pots, a watering can, utensils, etc. Bookshelves: After all those cozy winter reading sessions, your library may need a cleanup. Take a few minutes to organize your coffee table books, bedside novels, or favorite magazines. You can alphabetize, coordinate by color, or sort by size. Make sure you dust the shelves before putting anything back in its place. Frame Children’s Artwork: If your child likes to create lots of artwork, don't let it pile up and turn into clutter. Instead, frame favorite pieces to display as décor. This will help to cut down on clutter on your fridge and in boxes. If your little angel is a prolific artist, use this an opportunity to create an ever-changing gallery wall with favorite frames, swapping out for each season. Now for the BEDROOM, the place you go to for ultimate relaxation: Your bed is one of the most special parts of your home. Refresh this space by switching out thicker winter sheets and pillowcases for spring ones. In addition, a new look — like a light- colored duvet or springthemed pillows — creates an entirely fresh vibe. And finally, some days we are just too busy to make labels for the different types of pasta we have in our pantry. It’s okay if your house isn’t Marie Kondo level organized. *SPOILER ALERT: The ma jority of people don’t live that way! So, an option that can help you feel productive and grounded is the Eight-Minute Rule. The eight-minute rule can be used for any space in your home. Set a timer for eight minutes every night, and put away as much as you can in those eight minutes. The intent is not to finish organizing your entire room. Rather, it helps to develop organization habits and prevents clutter from building up. Now that you have a clean slate, small, simple touches can really give your home a new look and feel for the season ahead. Spring décor like throw pillows and faux flowers will spruce up your space. Change up artwork with frames with a lighter color palette. Top off your fresh look with candles in fun, spring scents. Think bright and airy!

I don’t know about you, but after the winter snow and ice (even if it’s only for a few days here in Texas) the anticipation of spring motivates me to make some changes in my home. As color begins to emerge in landscape, I take it as my cue to evaluate and renew the colors inside my home. In this bedroom setting, the texture and soft cool tones of the icy blue contrasted with the small amounts of deep green and pop of fuchsia are calming and peaceful. It’s a great place to relax with a cup of tea and gaze out the window on a beautiful spring afternoon. The wallpaper, which is blazing a trail for all rooms in today’s modern décor, is the key element in this room. It is a great way to add not only color, but also texture. The upholstered bed in the white performance fabric is a versatile look for any style or season, but

This bedroom was inspired by clients asking me for help updating their primary bedroom. If you have a bedroom full of dark wood furniture, a great way to brighten up your room is to add a light neutral upholstered bed. Or you can switch out your dark nightstands for light-colored painted pieces. I love to mix up finishes like I did in this room. It creates a carefully curated look and a “collected over time” feel. The key to help your room feel pulled together is to repeat some of the same or similar finishes. In this room, I used pieces with a wood stain - the

bed, writing table, and chandelier. The nightstands, dresser, and bench are done in a light painted finish. If you are planning an entire room, start with the bed. I think of your bed as “the star of the show.” Your bedding texture and color can help create the feel of your room. Here, I used luxurious 100% cotton bedding from Portugal and Italy. The soft, muted blues, grays, and the pop of white create a relaxing and spa-like feel. The pop of white ties in with the light painted furniture.
Photography By Dan Piassick Once I picked the bedding colors, I chose the upholstery to coordinate the colors - the beautiful swivel chairs in blues and off whites, the desk chair and bench in light grays, the area rug in blues, grays, and off white, and the soft Alpaca gray throw on the bench. Then I added touches of the blue color in art pieces and accessories. Of course, I had to add a little glamor: The two lamps on the nightstands are mercury glass with rock crystals on the base, and the art above the
Photo By Audrie Dollins nightstands has gold foil accents for a little shimmer. The two lamps on the dresser are a gray metallic. The tray on the dresser is a mother of pearl mosaic, and the marble box on the table between the chairs has a rock crystal on top. Whether you are updating your bedroom or creating an entire room, it can be very exciting to watch a beautiful room come to life.

COCKTAIL TABLE SIZE MATTERS When it comes to cocktail tables, scale is priority one. If you go too small, they’re not functional, and if you go too big, you impede traffic flow. Depending upon your space, 14-20” of clearance is typically a comfortable placement.

SELECTING NIGHTSTANDS There are many ways to add character to your bedroom through selecting and styling nightstands. Depending on how much storage you need, consider a multi-drawer nightstand that makes a statement with metal hardware. To bring in different textures and color, I love layering accessories like boxes, candles, cocktail table books, or a small plant in the open shelving of a nightstand. To give them a finished look, select a lamp that adds height and feels proportionate to the size of the nightstand.

MIXING PATTERNS When mixing prints, there aren’t any concrete rules. You can really do whatever makes you feel comfortable. Some general guidelines you can follow are mixing a more abstract/organic print such as a floral with more a structural prints such as a geometric or a striped fabric. Another element that can be added is texture, especially for those who like simpler color palette. Texture can enhance your space with not a lot of color.

We’re excited to take you on a tour inside this beachfront home in Watercolor, Florida. The 30A area is a popular, family-friendly vacation spot for many southerners. This whole-house renovation was thoughtfully designed to maximize space in the home for a spacious and comfortable retreat at the beach. We took the house down to the studs and transformed the square footage to make the home more open and efficient for entertaining.

Game Room
The gameroom on the first floor is a family favorite. A round table is perfect for puzzles or playing a game of spoons. The blue glass mirror was custom made by a local 30A artisan. Surfboard art hangs above the shuffleboard to bring playfulness and color to the space.

Guest Bedroom A palette of coral and sky blue was selected for this room’s design. The wallpaper behind the bed reflects our palette and brings a fun pattern into the room. We also used the paper in the bathroom paired with a sky-blue penny round on the vanity wall.

Bunk Room & Bath
We decided on a palette of navy, yellow, and turquoise to create a fun room for the kids. Four bunks and one trundle were painted in Sherwin-Williams Commodore. For extra storage, we built drawers into the stair steps. A custom bachelor’s chest coordinates with the room’s color scheme.

In this guest room, we used a navy and powder blue palm print fabric to upholster two twin beds. A pop of pink was added in with the center pillow on each bed. A chest of drawers painted in Sherwin-Williams Porch Ceiling adds storage to the room. Commissioned art from a local 30A artist hangs above each bed. We used a chest of drawers with mother of pearl inlay as the vanity in the bathroom. Powder blue glass tiles bring a fresh pop of color into the shower.

Laundry Room & Mud Room
We converted the former screened-in porch into a large laundry room and mud room. It’s a necessity with the loads of towels and clothes that accumulate! We selected a patterned porcelain tile for the flooring and painted the cabinetry a fresh powdery blue. We commissioned the “Beach Rules” artwork that hangs over the sink. The mud bench provides ample storage for beach bags and toys.

Powder Bath The wallpaper in the powder bath has a very special meaning for us. The beach scenes have images of our family members. We had an artist paint the scenes and then created a pattern to make the wallpaper.

The second-floor deck is a favorite place to hang out. The cozy swing is perfect for an afternoon nap or reading a book on a rainy day.

Family Room The family room received a ma jor transformation. The new design opens up to the kitchen and breakfast nook. A large sectional and two pairs of chairs make up the seating arrangement. French doors open up to reveal an incredible view of the ocean.

Hand-painted wood tiles were custom made to define a rug area for the nook space. A live edge table and bench were commissioned for the dining area. Comfy upholstered chairs in a striped Sunbrella fabric bring in pattern while also offering a high level of durability.

The new open floor plan kitchen and nook were designed for the large family who loves to cook. A custom Vent-a-Hood adds color over the range, and the paint was matched for the island. A prep sink in the island offers additional working space for the sous-chef in the family, while the extended curved countertop provides ample seating for family members to gather and converse during meal prep. Counter
stools upholstered in a patterned ultra leather allow for easy clean up and worry-free maintenance. Refrigerated drawers, a pot filler, wine refrigerator, and ice machine are among other amenities the chef’s kitchen has to offer. The kitchen pendants over the island and shell chandelier over the dining table are like jewelry for the room.

Guest Bedroom &Bath An aqua watercolor print was our jumping off point for this room’s design. The art over the bed was commissioned by Dallas artist Brooke Johnson. Metal and mother of pearl mosaic tile make a beautiful statement on the large vanity wall. The cabinetry was painted in Sherwin-Williams Raindrop which is a perfect pairing for the sea glass chandelier.

Primary Bedroom
The gorgeous views of the ocean inspired the room’s design. We used a blue ombré fabric to frame the windows overlooking the ocean. A woven hyacinth bed upholstered in a bright sky blue brings color and texture into the room. Comfortable swivel chairs covered in an indoor/ outdoor fabric offer a relaxing place to enjoy the sounds of the ocean. A makeup vanity rests in front of a window where the shower used to be.

We redesigned the bathroom to make better use of the space. The new layout gave us a large walk-in shower, free-standing tub, his & hers vanities, and a makeup vanity. Rearranging the square footage also allowed the addition of more storage and a laundry room. A white marble with blue veining was paired with blue celeste waterjet marble mosaic for the floors and shower. A grassclothpatterned wallpaper in a bright sky blue and a shell chandelier complete the aesthetic.

We used a pair of swivel chairs on the third-floor deck to be able to sit and enjoy the incredible views.

The design of this model home was inspired by a beautiful resort in Cabo San Lucas. Complementing the Caribbean-style amenities of Windsong, we wanted to bring that feeling of a luxury vacation right into the home. The color palette of the home was literally inspired “the beach.” Rich natural tones and textures and the color of warm sand natural stones are the foundation of the house. We then splashed it with shades of blue in all the colors of the ocean. The art in the foyer is a bold statement upon entering, and the study’s vibrance is the perfect place to plan your next vacation.

Kitchen The natural tones in the kitchen cabinetry are warm and inviting and offer ample storage space. We couldn’t resist contrasting the cabinets with show-stopping noir countertops. The kitchen was designed to be striking, yet casual. The woven leather barstools blend this combination of luxury and comfort perfectly.

Dining Room From the kitchen, the home expands into an open floorplan with vaulted ceilings. The dining room is a blend of elegance, natural textures, and personality. Bouclé dining chairs with a t-shaped back frame a table of driftwood with a gorgeous acrylic base. Each place setting is ready with a menu card of a dinner worthy of any five-star resort.

The Great Room’s art and draperies are strong in black, white, and natural tones and draw the eye up to the ceiling beams. We paired two white chairs with wood accents and two comfy chairs upholstered in a Caribbean blue stripe.

NEAT L O O K It's no secret that we love hand selecting products to fit our clients' needs and elevate the look of a space. Realistically though, we know not everyone wants to purchase a bunch of new organizers all at once. We're big advocates of creating a plan and purchasing products slowly, but there's one thing to keep in mind as you prepare to get NEAT: Keep it cohesive. Cohesiveness was one of the key aspects when our product team developed the NEAT product line. The struggle was real when trying to find organizers that worked together aesthetically and had all the features we needed. So, we fixed that issue! Almost every piece in our product line works together so that you can create the perfect balance in your home.

you need to; just make sure you're purchasing from a brand that won't discontinue the style before you can finish the space. This goes for bins, baskets, and drawer dividers, too.
Color is Key
Choose a color or material and repeat it where you can. If you aren't ready to buy new organizers, adding matching labels in the same size, shape, and color can help tie everything together.
Find Balance
There is always risk of "too much of a good thing." When a space needs a lot of products placed closely together, consider creating balance with complementary products in an 80/20 ratio. If 80% of your shelves are full of lined acacia bins, add in a row of oxford bins in the same size. Or, if you want to add in a pop of color, go with 80% neutral and 20% accent color.

LAYERED CHICKEN TACO SALAD
PREP TIME: 20 MIN. | COOK TIME: 20 MIN. YIELDS 8-10 SERVINGS
INGREDIENTS:
• 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce • 1 (8 ounce) package heat & serve Mexican rice (I use Old El Paso) • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed • 1 (11 ounce) can Mexicorn, drained • 1 large avocado, diced • 1–1/2 cups prepared pico de gallo or diced tomatoes • 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded (about 4 cups shredded meat) • 1–1/2 cups shredded Monterey jack and cheddar cheese • 1 (14 ounce) bottle cilantro avocado yogurt dressing (about 1.75 cups dressing) (I use Bolthouse) • 1 (3.5 ounce) package tortilla strips (about 1.5 cups) (I use Fresh Gourmet tri-color tortilla strips)
INSTRUCTIONS: 1.
Layer half of each ingredient into a large salad bowl in the order listed under the ingredients. Repeat layers with remaining half of the ingredients. 2. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

THE BEST BLENDER GUACAMOLE PREP TIME: 10 MIN. | COOK TIME: 10 MIN. | YIELDS 2 CUPS
INGREDIENTS:

• 2 cups cilantro leaves (about 1 bunch) • 1/4 of a medium, peeled white onion • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime) • 1 clove garlic, peeled • 1 medium jalapeno, stem removed (with or without seeds, you decide the spice) • 1 teaspoon kosher salt • 3 large ripe avocados, pitted and peeled
INSTRUCTIONS: 1.
Place first 6 ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend 1-2 minutes, scraping down the sides of the container with a spatula a few times, until a smooth paste forms. 2. Add avocados and pulse 8-9 times, removing lid and running a spatula down the sides after every 3 pulses. Guacamole should be smooth with several small chunks of avocado. 3. Remove guacamole to a large bowl and serve with chips.
SALTED DULCE DE LECHE BROWNIES PREP TIME: 25 MIN. | COOK TIME: 25 MIN. YIELDS 12
INGREDIENTS: • • • • • • • • • • •
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips 2 cups granulated sugar 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 3 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 1–1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 cup dulce de leche caramel coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
INSTRUCTIONS: 1.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside. 2. Place the butter and chocolate chips in a large microwave safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for about 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until the chocolate chips are melted and smooth. Whisk in the sugar and cocoa powder. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking until well combined. Stir in the vanilla. Add the flour, salt, and baking powder and stir until well incorporated. 3. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Dollop the dulce de leche evenly over the batter and gently swirl into the batter with a table knife or chopstick so thick swirls are throughout all the batter. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Immediately sprinkle with coarse sea salt.

2 ounces (double shot) tequila 3/4 ounce Cointreau 3/4 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice 1 teaspoon light agave salt rim, optional

In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, agave, and ice. 2. Shake well. 3. Strain over fresh ice in salted-rimmed glass; garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
