SECOND SEMESTER
MANANSALA, IAN KARL V.
UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS - COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE
AR. ELISE SOPHIA FRANCISCO-TABONG
I am Ian Karl V. Manansala, a first-year College of Architecture student at the University of Santo Tomas.
Studying Architecture was a natural choice for me, stemming from its unique blend of artistic expression and tangible impact on society. The ability to design spaces that not only serves a practical purpose but also a vision to the human eye resonates deeply with my desire to contribute to the built environment.
Within these pages are the evolution of my Architectural journey; from my earliest sketches to my most recent plates in Manual Visual Technique 02.

Reflection
Having attended a school where art classes have been a part of the curriculum, I assumed that this course would help me to further expand my knowledge base and skills when it comes to rendering, and it did. Learning about watercolor has been a life-changing experience that has improved my understanding of the intricacies of color blending, light, and shadow. The way watercolor interacts with paper, how it flows and settles, has been fascinating to explore. In addition, watercolor painting has improved my technical skills and helped me feel more connected to my environment. I notice that I'm more aware of the small shifts in color and the way light moves throughout the day. It's as if I've gained a new set of eyes!
This experience has deepened my understanding of the important relationship between creativity and technicality. Even though that some parts of the course is challenging sometimes, especially mastering blending, knowing the correct light source, or controlling the amount of water on the brush, I've come to realize that overcoming these challenges is where true growth happens. During our first few meetings, I cannot avoid to compare my works to my friends or classmates, however I realized as we go further into the course that we all each have different starting points and evidently I have improved as time goes by. I take pride to myself for continuing persevering and finding the best way to overcome these hindrances, to my classmates who supports each other, and my professor who is very hands on in answering every queries regarding the topic being discussed. Moving forward, I'm excited to use these new learned abilities and perspectives in my upcoming projects in the future to further enhance my presentation skills. Thank you, MVT2 and Ar. Tabong! See you in the hallways of Beato!
