18NowthebirthofJesusChristwasonthiswise:Whenas hismotherMarywasespousedtoJoseph,beforetheycame together,shewasfoundwithchildoftheHolyGhost

19ThenJosephherhusband,beingajustman,andnot willingtomakeherapublickexample,wasmindedtoput herawayprivily

20Butwhilehethoughtonthesethings,behold,theangel oftheLordappeareduntohiminadream,saying,Joseph, thousonofDavid,fearnottotakeuntotheeMarythywife: forthatwhichisconceivedinherisoftheHolyGhost 21Andsheshallbringforthason,andthoushaltcallhis nameJESUS:forheshallsavehispeoplefromtheirsins

22Nowallthiswasdone,thatitmightbefulfilledwhich wasspokenoftheLordbytheprophet,saying, 23Behold,avirginshallbewithchild,andshallbring forthason,andtheyshallcallhisnameEmmanuel,which beinginterpretedis,Godwithus.

24ThenJosephbeingraisedfromsleepdidastheangelof theLordhadbiddenhim,andtookuntohimhiswife:

25Andknewhernottillshehadbroughtforthherfirstborn son:andhecalledhisnameJESUS

CHAPTER2

1NowwhenJesuswasborninBethlehemofJudaeainthe daysofHerodtheking,behold,therecamewisemenfrom theeasttoJerusalem,

2Saying,WhereishethatisbornKingoftheJews?forwe haveseenhisstarintheeast,andarecometoworshiphim 3WhenHerodthekinghadheardthesethings,hewas troubled,andallJerusalemwithhim.

4Andwhenhehadgatheredallthechiefpriestsand scribesofthepeopletogether,hedemandedofthemwhere Christshouldbeborn.

5Andtheysaiduntohim,InBethlehemofJudaea:forthus itiswrittenbytheprophet,

6AndthouBethlehem,inthelandofJuda,artnottheleast amongtheprincesofJuda:foroutoftheeshallcomea Governor,thatshallrulemypeopleIsrael

7ThenHerod,whenhehadprivilycalledthewisemen, enquiredofthemdiligentlywhattimethestarappeared

8AndhesentthemtoBethlehem,andsaid,Goandsearch diligentlyfortheyoungchild;andwhenyehavefoundhim, bringmewordagain,thatImaycomeandworshiphim also

9Whentheyhadheardtheking,theydeparted;and,lo,the star,whichtheysawintheeast,wentbeforethem,tillit cameandstoodoverwheretheyoungchildwas 10Whentheysawthestar,theyrejoicedwithexceeding greatjoy

11Andwhentheywerecomeintothehouse,theysawthe youngchildwithMaryhismother,andfelldown,and worshippedhim:andwhentheyhadopenedtheirtreasures, theypresenteduntohimgifts;gold,andfrankincense,and myrrh.

12AndbeingwarnedofGodinadreamthattheyshould notreturntoHerod,theydepartedintotheirowncountry anotherway

13Andwhentheyweredeparted,behold,theangelofthe LordappearethtoJosephinadream,saying,Arise,and taketheyoungchildandhismother,andfleeintoEgypt, andbethouthereuntilIbringtheeword:forHerodwill seektheyoungchildtodestroyhim.

14Whenhearose,hetooktheyoungchildandhismother bynight,anddepartedintoEgypt:

15AndwasthereuntilthedeathofHerod:thatitmightbe fulfilledwhichwasspokenoftheLordbytheprophet, saying,OutofEgypthaveIcalledmyson

16ThenHerod,whenhesawthathewasmockedofthe wisemen,wasexceedingwroth,andsentforth,andslew allthechildrenthatwereinBethlehem,andinallthe coaststhereof,fromtwoyearsoldandunder,accordingto thetimewhichhehaddiligentlyenquiredofthewisemen 17ThenwasfulfilledthatwhichwasspokenbyJeremythe prophet,saying,

18InRamawasthereavoiceheard,lamentation,and weeping,andgreatmourning,Rachelweepingforher children,andwouldnotbecomforted,becausetheyarenot.

19ButwhenHerodwasdead,behold,anangeloftheLord appearethinadreamtoJosephinEgypt,

20Saying,Arise,andtaketheyoungchildandhismother, andgointothelandofIsrael:fortheyaredeadwhich soughttheyoungchild'slife

21Andhearose,andtooktheyoungchildandhismother, andcameintothelandofIsrael.

22ButwhenheheardthatArchelausdidreigninJudaeain theroomofhisfatherHerod,hewasafraidtogothither: notwithstanding,beingwarnedofGodinadream,he turnedasideintothepartsofGalilee:

23AndhecameanddweltinacitycalledNazareth:thatit mightbefulfilledwhichwasspokenbytheprophets,He shallbecalledaNazarene

CHAPTER3

1InthosedayscameJohntheBaptist,preachinginthe wildernessofJudaea,

2Andsaying,Repentye:forthekingdomofheavenisat hand.

3ForthisishethatwasspokenofbytheprophetEsaias, saying,Thevoiceofonecryinginthewilderness,Prepare yethewayoftheLord,makehispathsstraight.

4AndthesameJohnhadhisraimentofcamel'shair,anda leatherngirdleabouthisloins;andhismeatwaslocusts andwildhoney.

5ThenwentouttohimJerusalem,andallJudaea,andall theregionroundaboutJordan, 6AndwerebaptizedofhiminJordan,confessingtheirsins.

7ButwhenhesawmanyofthePhariseesandSadducees cometohisbaptism,hesaiduntothem,Ogenerationof vipers,whohathwarnedyoutofleefromthewrathto come?

8Bringforththereforefruitsmeetforrepentance:

9Andthinknottosaywithinyourselves,Wehave Abrahamtoourfather:forIsayuntoyou,thatGodisable ofthesestonestoraiseupchildrenuntoAbraham

10Andnowalsotheaxeislaiduntotherootofthetrees: thereforeeverytreewhichbringethnotforthgoodfruitis hewndown,andcastintothefire

11Iindeedbaptizeyouwithwateruntorepentance:buthe thatcomethaftermeismightierthanI,whoseshoesIam notworthytobear:heshallbaptizeyouwiththeHoly Ghost,andwithfire:

12Whosefanisinhishand,andhewillthroughlypurge hisfloor,andgatherhiswheatintothegarner;buthewill burnupthechaffwithunquenchablefire.

13ThencomethJesusfromGalileetoJordanuntoJohn,to bebaptizedofhim.

14ButJohnforbadhim,saying,Ihaveneedtobebaptized ofthee,andcomestthoutome?

15AndJesusansweringsaiduntohim,Sufferittobeso now:forthusitbecomethustofulfilallrighteousness. Thenhesufferedhim

16AndJesus,whenhewasbaptized,wentupstraightway outofthewater:and,lo,theheavenswereopeneduntohim, andhesawtheSpiritofGoddescendinglikeadove,and lightinguponhim:

17Andloavoicefromheaven,saying,Thisismybeloved Son,inwhomIamwellpleased

CHAPTER4

1ThenwasJesusledupoftheSpiritintothewildernessto betemptedofthedevil.

2Andwhenhehadfastedfortydaysandfortynights,he wasafterwardanhungred

3Andwhenthetemptercametohim,hesaid,Ifthoube theSonofGod,commandthatthesestonesbemadebread.

4Butheansweredandsaid,Itiswritten,Manshallnotlive bybreadalone,butbyeverywordthatproceedethoutof themouthofGod

5Thenthedeviltakethhimupintotheholycity,and settethhimonapinnacleofthetemple,

6Andsaithuntohim,IfthoubetheSonofGod,cast thyselfdown:foritiswritten,Heshallgivehisangels chargeconcerningthee:andintheirhandstheyshallbear theeup,lestatanytimethoudashthyfootagainstastone

7Jesussaiduntohim,Itiswrittenagain,Thoushaltnot tempttheLordthyGod.

8Again,thedeviltakethhimupintoanexceedinghigh mountain,andshewethhimallthekingdomsoftheworld, andthegloryofthem;

9Andsaithuntohim,AllthesethingswillIgivethee,if thouwiltfalldownandworshipme

10ThensaithJesusuntohim,Gettheehence,Satan:forit iswritten,ThoushaltworshiptheLordthyGod,andhim onlyshaltthouserve

11Thenthedevilleavethhim,and,behold,angelscame andministereduntohim

12NowwhenJesushadheardthatJohnwascastinto prison,hedepartedintoGalilee;

13AndleavingNazareth,hecameanddweltinCapernaum, whichisupontheseacoast,inthebordersofZabulonand Nephthalim:

14ThatitmightbefulfilledwhichwasspokenbyEsaias theprophet,saying,

15ThelandofZabulon,andthelandofNephthalim,bythe wayofthesea,beyondJordan,GalileeoftheGentiles;

16Thepeoplewhichsatindarknesssawgreatlight;andto themwhichsatintheregionandshadowofdeathlightis sprungup

17FromthattimeJesusbegantopreach,andtosay, Repent:forthekingdomofheavenisathand.

18AndJesus,walkingbytheseaofGalilee,sawtwo brethren,SimoncalledPeter,andAndrewhisbrother, castinganetintothesea:fortheywerefishers.

19Andhesaithuntothem,Followme,andIwillmakeyou fishersofmen.

20Andtheystraightwaylefttheirnets,andfollowedhim

21Andgoingonfromthence,hesawothertwobrethren, JamesthesonofZebedee,andJohnhisbrother,inaship withZebedeetheirfather,mendingtheirnets;andhecalled them

22Andtheyimmediatelylefttheshipandtheirfather,and followedhim

23AndJesuswentaboutallGalilee,teachingintheir synagogues,andpreachingthegospelofthekingdom,and healingallmannerofsicknessandallmannerofdisease amongthepeople

24AndhisfamewentthroughoutallSyria:andthey broughtuntohimallsickpeoplethatweretakenwith diversdiseasesandtorments,andthosewhichwere

possessedwithdevils,andthosewhichwerelunatick,and thosethathadthepalsy;andhehealedthem.

25Andtherefollowedhimgreatmultitudesofpeoplefrom Galilee,andfromDecapolis,andfromJerusalem,andfrom Judaea,andfrombeyondJordan.

CHAPTER5

1Andseeingthemultitudes,hewentupintoamountain: andwhenhewasset,hisdisciplescameuntohim: 2Andheopenedhismouth,andtaughtthem,saying, 3Blessedarethepoorinspirit:fortheirsisthekingdomof heaven.

4Blessedaretheythatmourn:fortheyshallbecomforted 5Blessedarethemeek:fortheyshallinherittheearth

6Blessedaretheywhichdohungerandthirstafter righteousness:fortheyshallbefilled

7Blessedarethemerciful:fortheyshallobtainmercy

8Blessedarethepureinheart:fortheyshallseeGod.

9Blessedarethepeacemakers:fortheyshallbecalledthe childrenofGod

10Blessedaretheywhicharepersecutedforrighteousness' sake:fortheirsisthekingdomofheaven

11Blessedareye,whenmenshallrevileyou,and persecuteyou,andshallsayallmannerofevilagainstyou falsely,formysake

12Rejoice,andbeexceedingglad:forgreatisyourreward inheaven:forsopersecutedtheytheprophetswhichwere beforeyou

13Yearethesaltoftheearth:butifthesalthavelosthis savour,wherewithshallitbesalted?itisthenceforthgood fornothing,buttobecastout,andtobetroddenunderfoot ofmen

14Yearethelightoftheworld.Acitythatissetonanhill cannotbehid

15Neitherdomenlightacandle,andputitunderabushel, butonacandlestick;anditgivethlightuntoallthatarein thehouse

16Letyourlightsoshinebeforemen,thattheymaysee yourgoodworks,andglorifyyourFatherwhichisin heaven

17ThinknotthatIamcometodestroythelaw,orthe prophets:Iamnotcometodestroy,buttofulfil.

18ForverilyIsayuntoyou,Tillheavenandearthpass, onejotoronetittleshallinnowisepassfromthelaw,till allbefulfilled.

19Whosoeverthereforeshallbreakoneoftheseleast commandments,andshallteachmenso,heshallbecalled theleastinthekingdomofheaven:butwhosoevershalldo andteachthem,thesameshallbecalledgreatinthe kingdomofheaven

20ForIsayuntoyou,Thatexceptyourrighteousnessshall exceedtherighteousnessofthescribesandPharisees,ye shallinnocaseenterintothekingdomofheaven

21Yehaveheardthatitwassaidbythemofoldtime, Thoushaltnotkill;andwhosoevershallkillshallbein dangerofthejudgment:

22ButIsayuntoyou,Thatwhosoeverisangrywithhis brotherwithoutacauseshallbeindangerofthejudgment: andwhosoevershallsaytohisbrother,Raca,shallbein dangerofthecouncil:butwhosoevershallsay,Thoufool, shallbeindangerofhellfire

23Thereforeifthoubringthygifttothealtar,andthere rememberestthatthybrotherhathoughtagainstthee; 24Leavetherethygiftbeforethealtar,andgothyway; firstbereconciledtothybrother,andthencomeandoffer thygift.

25Agreewiththineadversaryquickly,whilesthouartin thewaywithhim;lestatanytimetheadversarydeliver theetothejudge,andthejudgedelivertheetotheofficer, andthoubecastintoprison

26VerilyIsayuntothee,Thoushaltbynomeanscome outthence,tillthouhastpaidtheuttermostfarthing 27Yehaveheardthatitwassaidbythemofoldtime, Thoushaltnotcommitadultery:

28ButIsayuntoyou,Thatwhosoeverlookethona womantolustafterherhathcommittedadulterywithher alreadyinhisheart.

29Andifthyrighteyeoffendthee,pluckitout,andcastit fromthee:foritisprofitablefortheethatoneofthy membersshouldperish,andnotthatthywholebodyshould becastintohell

30Andifthyrighthandoffendthee,cutitoff,andcastit fromthee:foritisprofitablefortheethatoneofthy membersshouldperish,andnotthatthywholebodyshould becastintohell

31Ithathbeensaid,Whosoevershallputawayhiswife,let himgiveherawritingofdivorcement:

32ButIsayuntoyou,Thatwhosoevershallputawayhis wife,savingforthecauseoffornication,causethherto commitadultery:andwhosoevershallmarryherthatis divorcedcommittethadultery

33Again,yehaveheardthatithathbeensaidbythemof oldtime,Thoushaltnotforswearthyself,butshaltperform untotheLordthineoaths:

34ButIsayuntoyou,Swearnotatall;neitherbyheaven; foritisGod'sthrone:

35Norbytheearth;foritishisfootstool:neitherby Jerusalem;foritisthecityofthegreatKing.

36Neithershaltthouswearbythyhead,becausethou canstnotmakeonehairwhiteorblack

37Butletyourcommunicationbe,Yea,yea;Nay,nay:for whatsoeverismorethanthesecomethofevil

38Yehaveheardthatithathbeensaid,Aneyeforaneye, andatoothforatooth:

39ButIsayuntoyou,Thatyeresistnotevil:but whosoevershallsmitetheeonthyrightcheek,turntohim theotheralso.

40Andifanymanwillsuetheeatthelaw,andtakeaway thycoat,lethimhavethyclokealso.

41Andwhosoevershallcompeltheetogoamile,gowith himtwain

42Givetohimthataskeththee,andfromhimthatwould borrowoftheeturnnotthouaway.

43Yehaveheardthatithathbeensaid,Thoushaltlovethy neighbour,andhatethineenemy

44ButIsayuntoyou,Loveyourenemies,blessthemthat curseyou,dogoodtothemthathateyou,andprayfor themwhichdespitefullyuseyou,andpersecuteyou;

45ThatyemaybethechildrenofyourFatherwhichisin heaven:forhemakethhissuntoriseontheevilandonthe good,andsendethrainonthejustandontheunjust.

46Forifyelovethemwhichloveyou,whatrewardhave ye?donoteventhepublicansthesame?

47Andifyesaluteyourbrethrenonly,whatdoyemore thanothers?donoteventhepublicansso?

48Beyethereforeperfect,evenasyourFatherwhichisin heavenisperfect.

CHAPTER6

1Takeheedthatyedonotyouralmsbeforemen,tobe seenofthem:otherwiseyehavenorewardofyourFather whichisinheaven

2Thereforewhenthoudoestthinealms,donotsounda trumpetbeforethee,asthehypocritesdointhesynagogues andinthestreets,thattheymayhavegloryofmen.VerilyI sayuntoyou,Theyhavetheirreward

3Butwhenthoudoestalms,letnotthylefthandknow whatthyrighthanddoeth:

4Thatthinealmsmaybeinsecret:andthyFatherwhich seethinsecrethimselfshallrewardtheeopenly

5Andwhenthouprayest,thoushaltnotbeasthe hypocritesare:fortheylovetopraystandinginthe synagoguesandinthecornersofthestreets,thattheymay beseenofmen.VerilyIsayuntoyou,Theyhavetheir reward

6Butthou,whenthouprayest,enterintothycloset,and whenthouhastshutthydoor,praytothyFatherwhichisin secret;andthyFatherwhichseethinsecretshallreward theeopenly

7Butwhenyepray,usenotvainrepetitions,astheheathen do:fortheythinkthattheyshallbeheardfortheirmuch speaking

8Benotyethereforelikeuntothem:foryourFather knowethwhatthingsyehaveneedof,beforeyeaskhim

9Afterthismannerthereforeprayye:OurFatherwhichart inheaven,Hallowedbethyname.

10ThykingdomcomeThywillbedoneinearth,asitisin heaven

11Giveusthisdayourdailybread.

12Andforgiveusourdebts,asweforgiveourdebtors

13Andleadusnotintotemptation,butdeliverusfromevil: Forthineisthekingdom,andthepower,andtheglory,for everAmen

14Forifyeforgivementheirtrespasses,yourheavenly Fatherwillalsoforgiveyou:

15Butifyeforgivenotmentheirtrespasses,neitherwill yourFatherforgiveyourtrespasses

16Moreoverwhenyefast,benot,asthehypocrites,ofa sadcountenance:fortheydisfiguretheirfaces,thatthey mayappearuntomentofast.VerilyIsayuntoyou,They havetheirreward

17Butthou,whenthoufastest,anointthinehead,andwash thyface;

18Thatthouappearnotuntomentofast,butuntothy Fatherwhichisinsecret:andthyFather,whichseethin secret,shallrewardtheeopenly

19Laynotupforyourselvestreasuresuponearth,where mothandrustdothcorrupt,andwherethievesbreak throughandsteal:

20Butlayupforyourselvestreasuresinheaven,where neithermothnorrustdothcorrupt,andwherethievesdo notbreakthroughnorsteal:

21Forwhereyourtreasureis,therewillyourheartbealso

22Thelightofthebodyistheeye:ifthereforethineeyebe single,thywholebodyshallbefulloflight.

23Butifthineeyebeevil,thywholebodyshallbefullof darkness.Ifthereforethelightthatisintheebedarkness, howgreatisthatdarkness!

24Nomancanservetwomasters:foreitherhewillhate theone,andlovetheother;orelsehewillholdtotheone, anddespisetheother.YecannotserveGodandmammon.

25ThereforeIsayuntoyou,Takenothoughtforyourlife, whatyeshalleat,orwhatyeshalldrink;noryetforyour body,whatyeshallputonIsnotthelifemorethanmeat, andthebodythanraiment?

26Beholdthefowlsoftheair:fortheysownot,neitherdo theyreap,norgatherintobarns;yetyourheavenlyFather feedeththemAreyenotmuchbetterthanthey?

27Whichofyoubytakingthoughtcanaddonecubitunto hisstature?

28Andwhytakeyethoughtforraiment?Considerthe liliesofthefield,howtheygrow;theytoilnot,neitherdo theyspin:

29AndyetIsayuntoyou,ThatevenSolomoninallhis glorywasnotarrayedlikeoneofthese.

30Wherefore,ifGodsoclothethegrassofthefield,which todayis,andtomorrowiscastintotheoven,shallhenot muchmoreclotheyou,Oyeoflittlefaith?

31Thereforetakenothought,saying,Whatshallweeat? or,Whatshallwedrink?or,Wherewithalshallwebe clothed?

32(ForafterallthesethingsdotheGentilesseek:)foryour heavenlyFatherknoweththatyehaveneedofallthese things.

33ButseekyefirstthekingdomofGod,andhis righteousness;andallthesethingsshallbeaddeduntoyou 34Takethereforenothoughtforthemorrow:forthe morrowshalltakethoughtforthethingsofitselfSufficient untothedayistheevilthereof

CHAPTER7

1Judgenot,thatyebenotjudged.

2Forwithwhatjudgmentyejudge,yeshallbejudged:and withwhatmeasureyemete,itshallbemeasuredtoyou again.

3Andwhybeholdestthouthemotethatisinthybrother's eye,butconsiderestnotthebeamthatisinthineowneye?

4Orhowwiltthousaytothybrother,Letmepulloutthe moteoutofthineeye;and,behold,abeamisinthineown eye?

5Thouhypocrite,firstcastoutthebeamoutofthineown eye;andthenshaltthouseeclearlytocastoutthemoteout ofthybrother'seye

6Givenotthatwhichisholyuntothedogs,neithercastye yourpearlsbeforeswine,lesttheytramplethemundertheir feet,andturnagainandrendyou

7Ask,anditshallbegivenyou;seek,andyeshallfind; knock,anditshallbeopeneduntoyou:

8Foreveryonethataskethreceiveth;andhethatseeketh findeth;andtohimthatknockethitshallbeopened

9Orwhatmanisthereofyou,whomifhissonaskbread, willhegivehimastone?

10Orifheaskafish,willhegivehimaserpent?

11Ifyethen,beingevil,knowhowtogivegoodgiftsunto yourchildren,howmuchmoreshallyourFatherwhichis inheavengivegoodthingstothemthataskhim?

12Thereforeallthingswhatsoeveryewouldthatmen shoulddotoyou,doyeevensotothem:forthisisthelaw andtheprophets

13Enteryeinatthestraitgate:forwideisthegate,and broadistheway,thatleadethtodestruction,andmany therebewhichgointhereat:

14Becausestraitisthegate,andnarrowistheway,which leadethuntolife,andfewtherebethatfindit

15Bewareoffalseprophets,whichcometoyouinsheep's clothing,butinwardlytheyareraveningwolves.

16YeshallknowthembytheirfruitsDomengather grapesofthorns,orfigsofthistles?

17Evensoeverygoodtreebringethforthgoodfruit;buta corrupttreebringethforthevilfruit

18Agoodtreecannotbringforthevilfruit,neithercana corrupttreebringforthgoodfruit.

19Everytreethatbringethnotforthgoodfruitishewn down,andcastintothefire

20Whereforebytheirfruitsyeshallknowthem.

21Noteveryonethatsaithuntome,Lord,Lord,shallenter intothekingdomofheaven;buthethatdoeththewillof myFatherwhichisinheaven.

22Manywillsaytomeinthatday,Lord,Lord,havewe notprophesiedinthyname?andinthynamehavecastout devils?andinthynamedonemanywonderfulworks?

2Andgreatmultitudesweregatheredtogetheruntohim,so thathewentintoaship,andsat;andthewholemultitude stoodontheshore

3Andhespakemanythingsuntotheminparables,saying, Behold,asowerwentforthtosow;

4Andwhenhesowed,someseedsfellbythewayside, andthefowlscameanddevouredthemup:

5Somefelluponstonyplaces,wheretheyhadnotmuch earth:andforthwiththeysprungup,becausetheyhadno deepnessofearth:

6Andwhenthesunwasup,theywerescorched;and becausetheyhadnoroot,theywitheredaway.

7Andsomefellamongthorns;andthethornssprungup, andchokedthem:

8Butotherfellintogoodground,andbroughtforthfruit, someanhundredfold,somesixtyfold,somethirtyfold

9Whohathearstohear,lethimhear

10Andthedisciplescame,andsaiduntohim,Why speakestthouuntotheminparables?

11Heansweredandsaiduntothem,Becauseitisgiven untoyoutoknowthemysteriesofthekingdomofheaven, buttothemitisnotgiven

12Forwhosoeverhath,tohimshallbegiven,andheshall havemoreabundance:butwhosoeverhathnot,fromhim shallbetakenawayeventhathehath

13ThereforespeakItotheminparables:becausethey seeingseenot;andhearingtheyhearnot,neitherdothey understand

14AndinthemisfulfilledtheprophecyofEsaias,which saith,Byhearingyeshallhear,andshallnotunderstand; andseeingyeshallsee,andshallnotperceive:

15Forthispeople'sheartiswaxedgross,andtheirearsare dullofhearing,andtheireyestheyhaveclosed;lestatany timetheyshouldseewiththeireyes,andhearwiththeir ears,andshouldunderstandwiththeirheart,andshouldbe converted,andIshouldhealthem.

16Butblessedareyoureyes,fortheysee:andyourears, fortheyhear

17ForverilyIsayuntoyou,Thatmanyprophetsand righteousmenhavedesiredtoseethosethingswhichye see,andhavenotseenthem;andtohearthosethingswhich yehear,andhavenotheardthem.

18Hearyethereforetheparableofthesower

19Whenanyoneheareththewordofthekingdom,and understandethitnot,thencomeththewickedone,and catchethawaythatwhichwassowninhisheartThisishe whichreceivedseedbythewayside

20Buthethatreceivedtheseedintostonyplaces,thesame ishethatheareththeword,andanonwithjoyreceivethit;

21Yethathhenotrootinhimself,butdurethforawhile: forwhentribulationorpersecutionarisethbecauseofthe word,byandbyheisoffended

22Healsothatreceivedseedamongthethornsishethat heareththeword;andthecareofthisworld,andthe deceitfulnessofriches,choketheword,andhebecometh unfruitful.

23Buthethatreceivedseedintothegoodgroundishethat heareththeword,andunderstandethit;whichalsobeareth

fruit,andbringethforth,someanhundredfold,somesixty, somethirty.

24Anotherparableputheforthuntothem,saying,The kingdomofheavenislikeneduntoamanwhichsowed goodseedinhisfield:

25Butwhilemenslept,hisenemycameandsowedtares amongthewheat,andwenthisway

26Butwhenthebladewassprungup,andbroughtforth fruit,thenappearedthetaresalso

27Sotheservantsofthehouseholdercameandsaidunto him,Sir,didstnotthousowgoodseedinthyfield?from whencethenhathittares?

28Hesaiduntothem,Anenemyhathdonethis.The servantssaiduntohim,Wiltthouthenthatwegoand gatherthemup?

29Buthesaid,Nay;lestwhileyegatherupthetares,ye rootupalsothewheatwiththem

30Letbothgrowtogetheruntiltheharvest:andinthetime ofharvestIwillsaytothereapers,Gatheryetogetherfirst thetares,andbindtheminbundlestoburnthem:butgather thewheatintomybarn

31Anotherparableputheforthuntothem,saying,The kingdomofheavenisliketoagrainofmustardseed, whichamantook,andsowedinhisfield:

32Whichindeedistheleastofallseeds:butwhenitis grown,itisthegreatestamongherbs,andbecomethatree, sothatthebirdsoftheaircomeandlodgeinthebranches thereof.

33Anotherparablespakeheuntothem;Thekingdomof heavenislikeuntoleaven,whichawomantook,andhidin threemeasuresofmeal,tillthewholewasleavened.

34AllthesethingsspakeJesusuntothemultitudein parables;andwithoutaparablespakehenotuntothem:

35Thatitmightbefulfilledwhichwasspokenbythe prophet,saying,Iwillopenmymouthinparables;Iwill utterthingswhichhavebeenkeptsecretfromthe foundationoftheworld.

36ThenJesussentthemultitudeaway,andwentintothe house:andhisdisciplescameuntohim,saying,Declare untoustheparableofthetaresofthefield.

37Heansweredandsaiduntothem,Hethatsoweththe goodseedistheSonofman;

38Thefieldistheworld;thegoodseedarethechildrenof thekingdom;butthetaresarethechildrenofthewicked one;

39Theenemythatsowedthemisthedevil;theharvestis theendoftheworld;andthereapersaretheangels

40Asthereforethetaresaregatheredandburnedinthefire; soshallitbeintheendofthisworld

41TheSonofmanshallsendforthhisangels,andthey shallgatheroutofhiskingdomallthingsthatoffend,and themwhichdoiniquity;

42Andshallcastthemintoafurnaceoffire:thereshallbe wailingandgnashingofteeth

43Thenshalltherighteousshineforthasthesuninthe kingdomoftheirFatherWhohathearstohear,lethim hear.

44Again,thekingdomofheavenislikeuntotreasurehid inafield;thewhichwhenamanhathfound,hehideth,and forjoythereofgoethandsellethallthathehath,andbuyeth thatfield

45Again,thekingdomofheavenislikeuntoamerchant man,seekinggoodlypearls:

46Who,whenhehadfoundonepearlofgreatprice,went andsoldallthathehad,andboughtit.

47Again,thekingdomofheavenislikeuntoanet,that wascastintothesea,andgatheredofeverykind:

48Which,whenitwasfull,theydrewtoshore,andsat down,andgatheredthegoodintovessels,butcastthebad away

49Soshallitbeattheendoftheworld:theangelsshall comeforth,andseverthewickedfromamongthejust, 50Andshallcastthemintothefurnaceoffire:thereshall bewailingandgnashingofteeth.

51Jesussaithuntothem,Haveyeunderstoodallthese things?Theysayuntohim,Yea,Lord

52Thensaidheuntothem,Thereforeeveryscribewhichis instructeduntothekingdomofheavenislikeuntoaman thatisanhouseholder,whichbringethforthoutofhis treasurethingsnewandold.

53Anditcametopass,thatwhenJesushadfinishedthese parables,hedepartedthence

54Andwhenhewascomeintohisowncountry,hetaught themintheirsynagogue,insomuchthattheywere astonished,andsaid,Whencehaththismanthiswisdom, andthesemightyworks?

55Isnotthisthecarpenter'sson?isnothismothercalled Mary?andhisbrethren,James,andJoses,andSimon,and Judas?

56Andhissisters,aretheynotallwithus?Whencethen haththismanallthesethings?

57Andtheywereoffendedinhim.ButJesussaidunto them,Aprophetisnotwithouthonour,saveinhisown country,andinhisownhouse

58Andhedidnotmanymightyworkstherebecauseof theirunbelief

CHAPTER14

1AtthattimeHerodthetetrarchheardofthefameofJesus, 2Andsaiduntohisservants,ThisisJohntheBaptist;heis risenfromthedead;andthereforemightyworksdoshew forththemselvesinhim

3ForHerodhadlaidholdonJohn,andboundhim,andput himinprisonforHerodias'sake,hisbrotherPhilip'swife 4ForJohnsaiduntohim,Itisnotlawfulfortheetohave her.

5Andwhenhewouldhaveputhimtodeath,hefearedthe multitude,becausetheycountedhimasaprophet.

6ButwhenHerod'sbirthdaywaskept,thedaughterof Herodiasdancedbeforethem,andpleasedHerod 7Whereuponhepromisedwithanoathtogiveher whatsoevershewouldask.

8Andshe,beingbeforeinstructedofhermother,said, GivemehereJohnBaptist'sheadinacharger 9Andthekingwassorry:neverthelessfortheoath'ssake, andthemwhichsatwithhimatmeat,hecommandeditto begivenher.

10Andhesent,andbeheadedJohnintheprison 11Andhisheadwasbroughtinacharger,andgiventothe damsel:andshebroughtittohermother.

12Andhisdisciplescame,andtookupthebody,and buriedit,andwentandtoldJesus

13WhenJesusheardofit,hedepartedthencebyshipinto adesertplaceapart:andwhenthepeoplehadheardthereof, theyfollowedhimonfootoutofthecities

14AndJesuswentforth,andsawagreatmultitude,and wasmovedwithcompassiontowardthem,andhehealed theirsick

15Andwhenitwasevening,hisdisciplescametohim, saying,Thisisadesertplace,andthetimeisnowpast; sendthemultitudeaway,thattheymaygointothevillages, andbuythemselvesvictuals

16ButJesussaiduntothem,Theyneednotdepart;giveye themtoeat

17Andtheysayuntohim,Wehaveherebutfiveloaves, andtwofishes

18Hesaid,Bringthemhithertome

19Andhecommandedthemultitudetositdownonthe grass,andtookthefiveloaves,andthetwofishes,and lookinguptoheaven,heblessed,andbrake,andgavethe loavestohisdisciples,andthedisciplestothemultitude.

20Andtheydidalleat,andwerefilled:andtheytookup ofthefragmentsthatremainedtwelvebasketsfull

21Andtheythathadeatenwereaboutfivethousandmen, besidewomenandchildren

22AndstraightwayJesusconstrainedhisdisciplestoget intoaship,andtogobeforehimuntotheotherside,while hesentthemultitudesaway

23Andwhenhehadsentthemultitudesaway,hewentup intoamountainaparttopray:andwhentheeveningwas come,hewastherealone

24Buttheshipwasnowinthemidstofthesea,tossed withwaves:forthewindwascontrary.

25AndinthefourthwatchofthenightJesuswentunto them,walkingonthesea

26Andwhenthedisciplessawhimwalkingonthesea, theyweretroubled,saying,Itisaspirit;andtheycriedout forfear

27ButstraightwayJesusspakeuntothem,saying,Beof goodcheer;itisI;benotafraid

28AndPeteransweredhimandsaid,Lord,ifitbethou, bidmecomeuntotheeonthewater.

29Andhesaid,ComeAndwhenPeterwascomedown outoftheship,hewalkedonthewater,togotoJesus

30Butwhenhesawthewindboisterous,hewasafraid; andbeginningtosink,hecried,saying,Lord,saveme

31AndimmediatelyJesusstretchedforthhishand,and caughthim,andsaiduntohim,Othouoflittlefaith, whereforedidstthoudoubt?

32Andwhentheywerecomeintotheship,thewind ceased

33Thentheythatwereintheshipcameandworshipped him,saying,OfatruththouarttheSonofGod

34Andwhentheyweregoneover,theycameintotheland ofGennesaret

35Andwhenthemenofthatplacehadknowledgeofhim, theysentoutintoallthatcountryroundabout,andbrought untohimallthatwerediseased;

36Andbesoughthimthattheymightonlytouchthehem ofhisgarment:andasmanyastouchedweremade perfectlywhole

CHAPTER15

1ThencametoJesusscribesandPharisees,whichwereof Jerusalem,saying,

2Whydothydisciplestransgressthetraditionoftheelders? fortheywashnottheirhandswhentheyeatbread

3Butheansweredandsaiduntothem,Whydoyealso transgressthecommandmentofGodbyyourtradition?

4ForGodcommanded,saying,Honourthyfatherand mother:and,Hethatcursethfatherormother,lethimdie thedeath

5Butyesay,Whosoevershallsaytohisfatherorhis mother,Itisagift,bywhatsoeverthoumightestbeprofited byme;

6Andhonournothisfatherorhismother,heshallbefree ThushaveyemadethecommandmentofGodofnone effectbyyourtradition

7Yehypocrites,welldidEsaiasprophesyofyou,saying, 8Thispeopledrawethnighuntomewiththeirmouth,and honourethmewiththeirlips;buttheirheartisfarfromme

9Butinvaintheydoworshipme,teachingfordoctrines thecommandmentsofmen.

10Andhecalledthemultitude,andsaiduntothem,Hear, andunderstand:

11Notthatwhichgoethintothemouthdefilethaman;but thatwhichcomethoutofthemouth,thisdefilethaman 12Thencamehisdisciples,andsaiduntohim,Knowest thouthatthePhariseeswereoffended,aftertheyheardthis saying?

13Butheansweredandsaid,Everyplant,whichmy heavenlyFatherhathnotplanted,shallberootedup.

14Letthemalone:theybeblindleadersoftheblindAnd iftheblindleadtheblind,bothshallfallintotheditch

15ThenansweredPeterandsaiduntohim,Declareuntous thisparable

16AndJesussaid,Areyealsoyetwithoutunderstanding?

17Donotyeyetunderstand,thatwhatsoeverenterethinat themouthgoethintothebelly,andiscastoutintothe draught?

18Butthosethingswhichproceedoutofthemouthcome forthfromtheheart;andtheydefiletheman

19Foroutoftheheartproceedevilthoughts,murders, adulteries,fornications,thefts,falsewitness,blasphemies: 20Thesearethethingswhichdefileaman:buttoeatwith unwashenhandsdefilethnotaman

21ThenJesuswentthence,anddepartedintothecoastsof TyreandSidon

22And,behold,awomanofCanaancameoutofthesame coasts,andcrieduntohim,saying,Havemercyonme,O Lord,thouSonofDavid;mydaughterisgrievouslyvexed withadevil

23Butheansweredhernotaword.Andhisdisciplescame andbesoughthim,saying,Sendheraway;forshecrieth afterus

24Butheansweredandsaid,Iamnotsentbutuntothelost sheepofthehouseofIsrael

25Thencamesheandworshippedhim,saying,Lord,help me

26Butheansweredandsaid,Itisnotmeettotakethe children'sbread,andtocastittodogs.

27Andshesaid,Truth,Lord:yetthedogseatofthe crumbswhichfallfromtheirmasters'table

28ThenJesusansweredandsaiduntoher,Owoman,great isthyfaith:beituntotheeevenasthouwilt.Andher daughterwasmadewholefromthatveryhour

29AndJesusdepartedfromthence,andcamenighunto theseaofGalilee;andwentupintoamountain,andsat downthere

30Andgreatmultitudescameuntohim,havingwiththem thosethatwerelame,blind,dumb,maimed,andmany others,andcastthemdownatJesus'feet;andhehealed them:

31Insomuchthatthemultitudewondered,whentheysaw thedumbtospeak,themaimedtobewhole,thelameto walk,andtheblindtosee:andtheyglorifiedtheGodof Israel

32ThenJesuscalledhisdisciplesuntohim,andsaid,I havecompassiononthemultitude,becausetheycontinue withmenowthreedays,andhavenothingtoeat:andIwill notsendthemawayfasting,lesttheyfaintintheway

33Andhisdisciplessayuntohim,Whenceshouldwehave somuchbreadinthewilderness,astofillsogreata multitude?

34AndJesussaithuntothem,Howmanyloaveshaveye? Andtheysaid,Seven,andafewlittlefishes 35Andhecommandedthemultitudetositdownonthe ground.

36Andhetookthesevenloavesandthefishes,andgave thanks,andbrakethem,andgavetohisdisciples,andthe disciplestothemultitude.

37Andtheydidalleat,andwerefilled:andtheytookup ofthebrokenmeatthatwasleftsevenbasketsfull

38Andtheythatdideatwerefourthousandmen,beside womenandchildren

CHAPTER16

1ThePhariseesalsowiththeSadduceescame,and temptingdesiredhimthathewouldshewthemasignfrom heaven.

2Heansweredandsaiduntothem,Whenitisevening,ye say,Itwillbefairweather:fortheskyisred

3Andinthemorning,Itwillbefoulweathertoday:forthe skyisredandlowringOyehypocrites,yecandiscernthe faceofthesky;butcanyenotdiscernthesignsofthe times?

4Awickedandadulterousgenerationseekethafterasign; andthereshallnosignbegivenuntoit,butthesignofthe prophetJonasAndheleftthem,anddeparted

5Andwhenhisdiscipleswerecometotheotherside,they hadforgottentotakebread

6ThenJesussaiduntothem,Takeheedandbewareofthe leavenofthePhariseesandoftheSadducees

7Andtheyreasonedamongthemselves,saying,Itis becausewehavetakennobread

8WhichwhenJesusperceived,hesaiduntothem,Oyeof littlefaith,whyreasonyeamongyourselves,becauseye havebroughtnobread?

9Doyenotyetunderstand,neitherrememberthefive loavesofthefivethousand,andhowmanybasketsyetook up?

10Neitherthesevenloavesofthefourthousand,andhow manybasketsyetookup?

11HowisitthatyedonotunderstandthatIspakeitnotto youconcerningbread,thatyeshouldbewareoftheleaven ofthePhariseesandoftheSadducees?

12Thenunderstoodtheyhowthathebadethemnot bewareoftheleavenofbread,butofthedoctrineofthe PhariseesandoftheSadducees.

13WhenJesuscameintothecoastsofCaesareaPhilippi, heaskedhisdisciples,saying,WhomdomensaythatIthe Sonofmanam?

14Andtheysaid,SomesaythatthouartJohntheBaptist: some,Elias;andothers,Jeremias,oroneoftheprophets.

15Hesaithuntothem,ButwhomsayyethatIam?

16AndSimonPeteransweredandsaid,ThouarttheChrist, theSonofthelivingGod.

17AndJesusansweredandsaiduntohim,Blessedartthou, SimonBarjona:forfleshandbloodhathnotrevealedit untothee,butmyFatherwhichisinheaven.

19AndIwillgiveuntotheethekeysofthekingdomof heaven:andwhatsoeverthoushaltbindonearthshallbe boundinheaven:andwhatsoeverthoushaltlooseonearth shallbeloosedinheaven

20Thenchargedhehisdisciplesthattheyshouldtellno manthathewasJesustheChrist.

21FromthattimeforthbeganJesustoshewuntohis disciples,howthathemustgountoJerusalem,andsuffer manythingsoftheeldersandchiefpriestsandscribes,and bekilled,andberaisedagainthethirdday

22ThenPetertookhim,andbegantorebukehim,saying, Beitfarfromthee,Lord:thisshallnotbeuntothee.

23Butheturned,andsaiduntoPeter,Gettheebehindme, Satan:thouartanoffenceuntome:forthousavourestnot thethingsthatbeofGod,butthosethatbeofmen.

24ThensaidJesusuntohisdisciples,Ifanymanwillcome afterme,lethimdenyhimself,andtakeuphiscross,and followme.

25Forwhosoeverwillsavehislifeshallloseit:and whosoeverwilllosehislifeformysakeshallfindit

26Forwhatisamanprofited,ifheshallgainthewhole world,andlosehisownsoul?orwhatshallamangivein exchangeforhissoul?

27FortheSonofmanshallcomeinthegloryofhisFather withhisangels;andthenheshallrewardeveryman accordingtohisworks.

28VerilyIsayuntoyou,Therebesomestandinghere, whichshallnottasteofdeath,tilltheyseetheSonofman cominginhiskingdom

1AndaftersixdaysJesustakethPeter,James,andJohnhis brother,andbringeththemupintoanhighmountainapart, 2Andwastransfiguredbeforethem:andhisfacedidshine asthesun,andhisraimentwaswhiteasthelight

3And,behold,thereappeareduntothemMosesandElias talkingwithhim.

4ThenansweredPeter,andsaiduntoJesus,Lord,itis goodforustobehere:ifthouwilt,letusmakeherethree

tabernacles;oneforthee,andoneforMoses,andonefor Elias.

5Whileheyetspake,behold,abrightcloudovershadowed them:andbeholdavoiceoutofthecloud,whichsaid,This ismybelovedSon,inwhomIamwellpleased;hearye him

6Andwhenthedisciplesheardit,theyfellontheirface, andweresoreafraid.

7AndJesuscameandtouchedthem,andsaid,Arise,and benotafraid

8Andwhentheyhadlifteduptheireyes,theysawnoman, saveJesusonly

9Andastheycamedownfromthemountain,Jesus chargedthem,saying,Tellthevisiontonoman,untilthe Sonofmanberisenagainfromthedead

10Andhisdisciplesaskedhim,saying,Whythensaythe scribesthatEliasmustfirstcome?

11AndJesusansweredandsaiduntothem,Eliastruly shallfirstcome,andrestoreallthings.

12ButIsayuntoyou,ThatEliasiscomealready,andthey knewhimnot,buthavedoneuntohimwhatsoeverthey listed.LikewiseshallalsotheSonofmansufferofthem.

13Thenthedisciplesunderstoodthathespakeuntothem ofJohntheBaptist

14Andwhentheywerecometothemultitude,therecame tohimacertainman,kneelingdowntohim,andsaying, 15Lord,havemercyonmyson:forheislunatick,andsore vexed:forofttimeshefallethintothefire,andoftintothe water

16AndIbroughthimtothydisciples,andtheycouldnot curehim.

17ThenJesusansweredandsaid,Ofaithlessandperverse generation,howlongshallIbewithyou?howlongshallI sufferyou?bringhimhithertome.

18AndJesusrebukedthedevil;andhedepartedoutofhim: andthechildwascuredfromthatveryhour 19ThencamethedisciplestoJesusapart,andsaid,Why couldnotwecasthimout?

20AndJesussaiduntothem,Becauseofyourunbelief:for verilyIsayuntoyou,Ifyehavefaithasagrainofmustard seed,yeshallsayuntothismountain,Removehenceto yonderplace;anditshallremove;andnothingshallbe impossibleuntoyou.

21Howbeitthiskindgoethnotoutbutbyprayerand fasting

22AndwhiletheyabodeinGalilee,Jesussaiduntothem, TheSonofmanshallbebetrayedintothehandsofmen: 23Andtheyshallkillhim,andthethirddayheshallbe raisedagainAndtheywereexceedingsorry

24AndwhentheywerecometoCapernaum,theythat receivedtributemoneycametoPeter,andsaid,Dothnot yourmasterpaytribute?

25Hesaith,YesAndwhenhewascomeintothehouse, Jesuspreventedhim,saying,Whatthinkestthou,Simon? ofwhomdothekingsoftheearthtakecustomortribute? oftheirownchildren,orofstrangers?

CHAPTER18

1AtthesametimecamethedisciplesuntoJesus,saying, Whoisthegreatestinthekingdomofheaven?

2AndJesuscalledalittlechilduntohim,andsethimin themidstofthem,

3Andsaid,VerilyIsayuntoyou,Exceptyebeconverted, andbecomeaslittlechildren,yeshallnotenterintothe kingdomofheaven

4Whosoeverthereforeshallhumblehimselfasthislittle child,thesameisgreatestinthekingdomofheaven

5Andwhososhallreceiveonesuchlittlechildinmyname receivethme.

6Butwhososhalloffendoneoftheselittleoneswhich believeinme,itwerebetterforhimthatamillstonewere hangedabouthisneck,andthatheweredrownedinthe depthofthesea

7Woeuntotheworldbecauseofoffences!foritmust needsbethatoffencescome;butwoetothatmanbywhom theoffencecometh!

8Whereforeifthyhandorthyfootoffendthee,cutthem off,andcastthemfromthee:itisbetterfortheetoenter intolifehaltormaimed,ratherthanhavingtwohandsor twofeettobecastintoeverlastingfire

9Andifthineeyeoffendthee,pluckitout,andcastitfrom thee:itisbetterfortheetoenterintolifewithoneeye, ratherthanhavingtwoeyestobecastintohellfire

3Theythatwerefoolishtooktheirlamps,andtooknooil withthem:

4Butthewisetookoilintheirvesselswiththeirlamps

5Whilethebridegroomtarried,theyallslumberedand slept

6Andatmidnighttherewasacrymade,Behold,the bridegroomcometh;goyeouttomeethim.

7Thenallthosevirginsarose,andtrimmedtheirlamps

21Thegovernoransweredandsaiduntothem,Whetherof thetwainwillyethatIreleaseuntoyou?Theysaid, Barabbas.

22Pilatesaithuntothem,WhatshallIdothenwithJesus whichiscalledChrist?Theyallsayuntohim,Lethimbe crucified

23Andthegovernorsaid,Why,whatevilhathhedone? Buttheycriedoutthemore,saying,Lethimbecrucified.

24WhenPilatesawthathecouldprevailnothing,butthat ratheratumultwasmade,hetookwater,andwashedhis handsbeforethemultitude,saying,Iaminnocentofthe bloodofthisjustperson:seeyetoit

25Thenansweredallthepeople,andsaid,Hisbloodbeon us,andonourchildren.

26ThenreleasedheBarabbasuntothem:andwhenhehad scourgedJesus,hedeliveredhimtobecrucified.

27ThenthesoldiersofthegovernortookJesusintothe commonhall,andgathereduntohimthewholebandof soldiers

28Andtheystrippedhim,andputonhimascarletrobe.

29Andwhentheyhadplattedacrownofthorns,theyputit uponhishead,andareedinhisrighthand:andtheybowed thekneebeforehim,andmockedhim,saying,Hail,King oftheJews!

30Andtheyspituponhim,andtookthereed,andsmote himonthehead

31Andafterthattheyhadmockedhim,theytooktherobe offfromhim,andputhisownraimentonhim,andledhim awaytocrucifyhim

32Andastheycameout,theyfoundamanofCyrene, Simonbyname:himtheycompelledtobearhiscross.

33AndwhentheywerecomeuntoaplacecalledGolgotha, thatistosay,aplaceofaskull,

34Theygavehimvinegartodrinkmingledwithgall:and whenhehadtastedthereof,hewouldnotdrink

35Andtheycrucifiedhim,andpartedhisgarments, castinglots:thatitmightbefulfilledwhichwasspokenby theprophet,Theypartedmygarmentsamongthem,and uponmyvesturedidtheycastlots

36Andsittingdowntheywatchedhimthere;

37Andsetupoverhisheadhisaccusationwritten,THIS ISJESUSTHEKINGOFTHEJEWS

38Thenweretheretwothievescrucifiedwithhim,oneon therighthand,andanotherontheleft

39Andtheythatpassedbyreviledhim,waggingtheir heads,

40Andsaying,Thouthatdestroyestthetemple,and buildestitinthreedays,savethyselfIfthoubetheSonof God,comedownfromthecross.

41Likewisealsothechiefpriestsmockinghim,withthe scribesandelders,said,

42Hesavedothers;himselfhecannotsave.Ifhebethe KingofIsrael,lethimnowcomedownfromthecross,and wewillbelievehim

43HetrustedinGod;lethimdeliverhimnow,ifhewill havehim:forhesaid,IamtheSonofGod

44Thethievesalso,whichwerecrucifiedwithhim,cast thesameinhisteeth.

45Nowfromthesixthhourtherewasdarknessoverallthe landuntotheninthhour.

46AndabouttheninthhourJesuscriedwithaloudvoice, saying,Eli,Eli,lamasabachthani?thatistosay,MyGod, myGod,whyhastthouforsakenme?

47Someofthemthatstoodthere,whentheyheardthat, said,ThismancallethforElias

48Andstraightwayoneofthemran,andtookaspunge, andfilleditwithvinegar,andputitonareed,andgave himtodrink

49Therestsaid,Letbe,letusseewhetherEliaswillcome tosavehim

50Jesus,whenhehadcriedagainwithaloudvoice, yieldeduptheghost.

51And,behold,theveilofthetemplewasrentintwain fromthetoptothebottom;andtheearthdidquake,andthe rocksrent;

52Andthegraveswereopened;andmanybodiesofthe saintswhichsleptarose,

53Andcameoutofthegravesafterhisresurrection,and wentintotheholycity,andappeareduntomany

54Nowwhenthecenturion,andtheythatwerewithhim, watchingJesus,sawtheearthquake,andthosethingsthat weredone,theyfearedgreatly,saying,Trulythiswasthe SonofGod

55Andmanywomenweretherebeholdingafaroff,which followedJesusfromGalilee,ministeringuntohim:

56AmongwhichwasMaryMagdalene,andMarythe motherofJamesandJoses,andthemotherofZebedee's children.

57Whentheevenwascome,therecamearichmanof Arimathaea,namedJoseph,whoalsohimselfwasJesus' disciple:

58HewenttoPilate,andbeggedthebodyofJesusThen Pilatecommandedthebodytobedelivered

59AndwhenJosephhadtakenthebody,hewrappeditina cleanlinencloth,

60Andlaiditinhisownnewtomb,whichhehadhewn outintherock:andherolledagreatstonetothedoorof thesepulchre,anddeparted

61AndtherewasMaryMagdalene,andtheotherMary, sittingoveragainstthesepulchre.

62Nowthenextday,thatfollowedthedayofthe preparation,thechiefpriestsandPhariseescametogether untoPilate,

63Saying,Sir,werememberthatthatdeceiversaid,while hewasyetalive,AfterthreedaysIwillriseagain

64Commandthereforethatthesepulchrebemadesure untilthethirdday,lesthisdisciplescomebynight,and stealhimaway,andsayuntothepeople,Heisrisenfrom thedead:sothelasterrorshallbeworsethanthefirst.

65Pilatesaiduntothem,Yehaveawatch:goyourway, makeitassureasyecan

1Intheendofthesabbath,asitbegantodawntowardthe firstdayoftheweek,cameMaryMagdaleneandtheother Marytoseethesepulchre

2And,behold,therewasagreatearthquake:fortheangel oftheLorddescendedfromheaven,andcameandrolled backthestonefromthedoor,andsatuponit

3Hiscountenancewaslikelightning,andhisraiment whiteassnow:

4Andforfearofhimthekeepersdidshake,andbecameas deadmen

5Andtheangelansweredandsaiduntothewomen,Fear notye:forIknowthatyeseekJesus,whichwascrucified

6Heisnothere:forheisrisen,ashesaid.Come,seethe placewheretheLordlay

7Andgoquickly,andtellhisdisciplesthatheisrisenfrom thedead;and,behold,hegoethbeforeyouintoGalilee; thereshallyeseehim:lo,Ihavetoldyou

8Andtheydepartedquicklyfromthesepulchrewithfear andgreatjoy;anddidruntobringhisdisciplesword.

9Andastheywenttotellhisdisciples,behold,Jesusmet them,saying,Allhail.Andtheycameandheldhimbythe feet,andworshippedhim.

10ThensaidJesusuntothem,Benotafraid:gotellmy brethrenthattheygointoGalilee,andthereshalltheysee me.

11Nowwhentheyweregoing,behold,someofthewatch cameintothecity,andsheweduntothechiefpriestsallthe thingsthatweredone

12Andwhentheywereassembledwiththeelders,andhad takencounsel,theygavelargemoneyuntothesoldiers,

13Saying,Sayye,Hisdisciplescamebynight,andstole himawaywhileweslept

14Andifthiscometothegovernor'sears,wewill persuadehim,andsecureyou

15Sotheytookthemoney,anddidastheyweretaught: andthissayingiscommonlyreportedamongtheJewsuntil thisday

16ThentheelevendiscipleswentawayintoGalilee,intoa mountainwhereJesushadappointedthem.

17Andwhentheysawhim,theyworshippedhim:but somedoubted

18AndJesuscameandspakeuntothem,saying,Allpower isgivenuntomeinheavenandinearth

19Goyetherefore,andteachallnations,baptizingthemin thenameoftheFather,andoftheSon,andoftheHoly Ghost:

20TeachingthemtoobserveallthingswhatsoeverIhave commandedyou:and,lo,Iamwithyoualway,evenunto theendoftheworldAmen
