3Thevoiceofonecryinginthewilderness,Prepareyethe wayoftheLord,makehispathsstraight.
4Johndidbaptizeinthewilderness,andpreachthe baptismofrepentancefortheremissionofsins
5AndtherewentoutuntohimallthelandofJudaea,and theyofJerusalem,andwereallbaptizedofhimintheriver ofJordan,confessingtheirsins
6AndJohnwasclothedwithcamel'shair,andwithagirdle ofaskinabouthisloins;andhedideatlocustsandwild honey;
7Andpreached,saying,TherecomethonemightierthanI afterme,thelatchetofwhoseshoesIamnotworthyto stoopdownandunloose
8Iindeedhavebaptizedyouwithwater:butheshall baptizeyouwiththeHolyGhost
9Anditcametopassinthosedays,thatJesuscamefrom NazarethofGalilee,andwasbaptizedofJohninJordan.
10Andstraightwaycomingupoutofthewater,hesawthe heavensopened,andtheSpiritlikeadovedescendingupon him:
11Andtherecameavoicefromheaven,saying,Thouart mybelovedSon,inwhomIamwellpleased
12AndimmediatelytheSpiritdrivethhimintothe wilderness
13Andhewasthereinthewildernessfortydays,tempted ofSatan;andwaswiththewildbeasts;andtheangels ministereduntohim
14NowafterthatJohnwasputinprison,Jesuscameinto Galilee,preachingthegospelofthekingdomofGod, 15Andsaying,Thetimeisfulfilled,andthekingdomof Godisathand:repentye,andbelievethegospel
16NowashewalkedbytheseaofGalilee,hesawSimon andAndrewhisbrothercastinganetintothesea:forthey werefishers.
17AndJesussaiduntothem,Comeyeafterme,andIwill makeyoutobecomefishersofmen
18Andstraightwaytheyforsooktheirnets,andfollowed him
19Andwhenhehadgonealittlefurtherthence,hesaw JamesthesonofZebedee,andJohnhisbrother,whoalso wereintheshipmendingtheirnets
20Andstraightwayhecalledthem:andtheylefttheir fatherZebedeeintheshipwiththehiredservants,andwent afterhim
21AndtheywentintoCapernaum;andstraightwayonthe sabbathdayheenteredintothesynagogue,andtaught.
22Andtheywereastonishedathisdoctrine:forhetaught themasonethathadauthority,andnotasthescribes 23Andtherewasintheirsynagogueamanwithan uncleanspirit;andhecriedout,
24Saying,Letusalone;whathavewetodowiththee, thouJesusofNazareth?artthoucometodestroyus?I knowtheewhothouart,theHolyOneofGod.
25AndJesusrebukedhim,saying,Holdthypeace,and comeoutofhim
26Andwhentheuncleanspirithadtornhim,andcried withaloudvoice,hecameoutofhim
27Andtheywereallamazed,insomuchthatthey questionedamongthemselves,saying,Whatthingisthis? whatnewdoctrineisthis?forwithauthoritycommandeth heeventheuncleanspirits,andtheydoobeyhim
28Andimmediatelyhisfamespreadabroadthroughoutall theregionroundaboutGalilee
29Andforthwith,whentheywerecomeoutofthe synagogue,theyenteredintothehouseofSimonand Andrew,withJamesandJohn
30ButSimon'swife'smotherlaysickofafever,andanon theytellhimofher.
31Andhecameandtookherbythehand,andliftedherup; andimmediatelythefeverlefther,andsheministeredunto them.
32Andateven,whenthesundidset,theybroughtunto himallthatwerediseased,andthemthatwerepossessed withdevils.
33Andallthecitywasgatheredtogetheratthedoor
34Andhehealedmanythatweresickofdiversdiseases, andcastoutmanydevils;andsufferednotthedevilsto speak,becausetheyknewhim
35Andinthemorning,risingupagreatwhilebeforeday, hewentout,anddepartedintoasolitaryplace,andthere prayed
36AndSimonandtheythatwerewithhimfollowedafter him
37Andwhentheyhadfoundhim,theysaiduntohim,All menseekforthee.
38Andhesaiduntothem,Letusgointothenexttowns, thatImaypreachtherealso:forthereforecameIforth
39Andhepreachedintheirsynagoguesthroughoutall Galilee,andcastoutdevils
40Andtherecamealepertohim,beseechinghim,and kneelingdowntohim,andsayinguntohim,Ifthouwilt, thoucanstmakemeclean
41AndJesus,movedwithcompassion,putforthhishand, andtouchedhim,andsaithuntohim,Iwill;bethouclean.
42Andassoonashehadspoken,immediatelytheleprosy departedfromhim,andhewascleansed
43Andhestraitlychargedhim,andforthwithsenthim away;
44Andsaithuntohim,Seethousaynothingtoanyman: butgothyway,shewthyselftothepriest,andofferforthy cleansingthosethingswhichMosescommanded,fora testimonyuntothem
45Buthewentout,andbegantopublishitmuch,andto blazeabroadthematter,insomuchthatJesuscouldnomore openlyenterintothecity,butwaswithoutindesertplaces: andtheycametohimfromeveryquarter.
CHAPTER2
1AndagainheenteredintoCapernaumaftersomedays; anditwasnoisedthathewasinthehouse
2Andstraightwaymanyweregatheredtogether,insomuch thattherewasnoroomtoreceivethem,no,notsomuchas aboutthedoor:andhepreachedtheworduntothem
3Andtheycomeuntohim,bringingonesickofthepalsy, whichwasborneoffour.
4Andwhentheycouldnotcomenighuntohimforthe press,theyuncoveredtheroofwherehewas:andwhen theyhadbrokenitup,theyletdownthebedwhereinthe sickofthepalsylay
5WhenJesussawtheirfaith,hesaiduntothesickofthe palsy,Son,thysinsbeforgiventhee
6Buttherewerecertainofthescribessittingthere,and reasoningintheirhearts,
7Whydoththismanthusspeakblasphemies?whocan forgivesinsbutGodonly?
8AndimmediatelywhenJesusperceivedinhisspiritthat theysoreasonedwithinthemselves,hesaiduntothem, Whyreasonyethesethingsinyourhearts?
9Whetherisiteasiertosaytothesickofthepalsy,Thy sinsbeforgiventhee;ortosay,Arise,andtakeupthybed, andwalk?
10ButthatyemayknowthattheSonofmanhathpower onearthtoforgivesins,(hesaithtothesickofthepalsy,)
11Isayuntothee,Arise,andtakeupthybed,andgothy wayintothinehouse.
12Andimmediatelyhearose,tookupthebed,andwent forthbeforethemall;insomuchthattheywereallamazed, andglorifiedGod,saying,Weneversawitonthisfashion.
13Andhewentforthagainbytheseaside;andallthe multituderesorteduntohim,andhetaughtthem
14Andashepassedby,hesawLevithesonofAlphaeus sittingatthereceiptofcustom,andsaiduntohim,Follow meAndhearoseandfollowedhim
15Anditcametopass,that,asJesussatatmeatinhis house,manypublicansandsinnerssatalsotogetherwith Jesusandhisdisciples:forthereweremany,andthey followedhim.
16AndwhenthescribesandPhariseessawhimeatwith publicansandsinners,theysaiduntohisdisciples,Howis itthatheeatethanddrinkethwithpublicansandsinners?
17WhenJesusheardit,hesaithuntothem,Theythatare wholehavenoneedofthephysician,buttheythataresick: Icamenottocalltherighteous,butsinnerstorepentance.
18AndthedisciplesofJohnandofthePhariseesusedto fast:andtheycomeandsayuntohim,Whydothedisciples ofJohnandofthePhariseesfast,butthydisciplesfastnot?
19AndJesussaiduntothem,Canthechildrenofthe bridechamberfast,whilethebridegroomiswiththem?as longastheyhavethebridegroomwiththem,theycannot fast
20Butthedayswillcome,whenthebridegroomshallbe takenawayfromthem,andthenshalltheyfastinthose days
21Nomanalsosewethapieceofnewclothonanold garment:elsethenewpiecethatfilledituptakethaway fromtheold,andtherentismadeworse
22Andnomanputtethnewwineintooldbottles:elsethe newwinedothburstthebottles,andthewineisspilled, andthebottleswillbemarred:butnewwinemustbeput intonewbottles.
23Anditcametopass,thathewentthroughthecornfields onthesabbathday;andhisdisciplesbegan,astheywent, toplucktheearsofcorn
24AndthePhariseessaiduntohim,Behold,whydothey onthesabbathdaythatwhichisnotlawful?
25Andhesaiduntothem,HaveyeneverreadwhatDavid did,whenhehadneed,andwasanhungred,he,andthey thatwerewithhim?
26HowhewentintothehouseofGodinthedaysof Abiatharthehighpriest,anddideattheshewbread,which isnotlawfultoeatbutforthepriests,andgavealsoto themwhichwerewithhim?
27Andhesaiduntothem,Thesabbathwasmadeforman, andnotmanforthesabbath:
28ThereforetheSonofmanisLordalsoofthesabbath
CHAPTER3
1Andheenteredagainintothesynagogue;andtherewasa mantherewhichhadawitheredhand
2Andtheywatchedhim,whetherhewouldhealhimon thesabbathday;thattheymightaccusehim.
3Andhesaithuntothemanwhichhadthewitheredhand, Standforth
4Andhesaithuntothem,Isitlawfultodogoodonthe sabbathdays,ortodoevil?tosavelife,ortokill?Butthey heldtheirpeace
5Andwhenhehadlookedroundaboutonthemwithanger, beinggrievedforthehardnessoftheirhearts,hesaithunto theman,StretchforththinehandAndhestretcheditout: andhishandwasrestoredwholeastheother.
6AndthePhariseeswentforth,andstraightwaytook counselwiththeHerodiansagainsthim,howtheymight destroyhim.
7ButJesuswithdrewhimselfwithhisdisciplestothesea: andagreatmultitudefromGalileefollowedhim,andfrom Judaea,
8AndfromJerusalem,andfromIdumaea,andfrom beyondJordan;andtheyaboutTyreandSidon,agreat multitude,whentheyhadheardwhatgreatthingshedid, cameuntohim
9Andhespaketohisdisciples,thatasmallshipshould waitonhimbecauseofthemultitude,lesttheyshould thronghim
10Forhehadhealedmany;insomuchthattheypressed uponhimfortotouchhim,asmanyashadplagues.
11Anduncleanspirits,whentheysawhim,felldown beforehim,andcried,saying,ThouarttheSonofGod.
12Andhestraitlychargedthemthattheyshouldnotmake himknown
13Andhegoethupintoamountain,andcallethuntohim whomhewould:andtheycameuntohim.
14Andheordainedtwelve,thattheyshouldbewithhim, andthathemightsendthemforthtopreach,
15Andtohavepowertohealsicknesses,andtocastout devils:
16AndSimonhesurnamedPeter;
17AndJamesthesonofZebedee,andJohnthebrotherof James;andhesurnamedthemBoanerges,whichis,The sonsofthunder:
18AndAndrew,andPhilip,andBartholomew,and Matthew,andThomas,andJamesthesonofAlphaeus,and Thaddaeus,andSimontheCanaanite, 19AndJudasIscariot,whichalsobetrayedhim:andthey wentintoanhouse.
20Andthemultitudecomethtogetheragain,sothatthey couldnotsomuchaseatbread
21Andwhenhisfriendsheardofit,theywentouttolay holdonhim:fortheysaid,Heisbesidehimself
22AndthescribeswhichcamedownfromJerusalemsaid, HehathBeelzebub,andbytheprinceofthedevilscasteth heoutdevils
23Andhecalledthemuntohim,andsaiduntothemin parables,HowcanSatancastoutSatan?
24Andifakingdombedividedagainstitself,that kingdomcannotstand.
25Andifahousebedividedagainstitself,thathouse cannotstand
26AndifSatanriseupagainsthimself,andbedivided,he cannotstand,buthathanend
27Nomancanenterintoastrongman'shouse,andspoil hisgoods,excepthewillfirstbindthestrongman;and thenhewillspoilhishouse
28VerilyIsayuntoyou,Allsinsshallbeforgivenuntothe sonsofmen,andblasphemieswherewithsoevertheyshall blaspheme:
29ButhethatshallblasphemeagainsttheHolyGhosthath neverforgiveness,butisindangerofeternaldamnation:
30Becausetheysaid,Hehathanuncleanspirit
31Therecamethenhisbrethrenandhismother,and, standingwithout,sentuntohim,callinghim.
32Andthemultitudesatabouthim,andtheysaiduntohim, Behold,thymotherandthybrethrenwithoutseekforthee
33Andheansweredthem,saying,Whoismymother,or mybrethren?
34Andhelookedroundaboutonthemwhichsatabout him,andsaid,Beholdmymotherandmybrethren!
35ForwhosoevershalldothewillofGod,thesameismy brother,andmysister,andmother
CHAPTER4
1Andhebeganagaintoteachbytheseaside:andthere wasgathereduntohimagreatmultitude,sothatheentered intoaship,andsatinthesea;andthewholemultitudewas bytheseaontheland.
2Andhetaughtthemmanythingsbyparables,andsaid untotheminhisdoctrine,
3Hearken;Behold,therewentoutasowertosow:
4Anditcametopass,ashesowed,somefellbytheway side,andthefowlsoftheaircameanddevoureditup
5Andsomefellonstonyground,whereithadnotmuch earth;andimmediatelyitsprangup,becauseithadno depthofearth:
6Butwhenthesunwasup,itwasscorched;andbecauseit hadnoroot,itwitheredaway
7Andsomefellamongthorns,andthethornsgrewup,and chokedit,andityieldednofruit
8Andotherfellongoodground,anddidyieldfruitthat sprangupandincreased;andbroughtforth,somethirty, andsomesixty,andsomeanhundred
9Andhesaiduntothem,Hethathathearstohear,lethim hear.
10Andwhenhewasalone,theythatwereabouthimwith thetwelveaskedofhimtheparable.
11Andhesaiduntothem,Untoyouitisgiventoknowthe mysteryofthekingdomofGod:butuntothemthatare without,allthesethingsaredoneinparables:
12Thatseeingtheymaysee,andnotperceive;andhearing theymayhear,andnotunderstand;lestatanytimethey shouldbeconverted,andtheirsinsshouldbeforgiventhem
13Andhesaiduntothem,Knowyenotthisparable?and howthenwillyeknowallparables?
14Thesowersoweththeword.
15Andthesearetheybythewayside,wherethewordis sown;butwhentheyhaveheard,Satancometh immediately,andtakethawaythewordthatwassownin theirhearts
16Andthesearetheylikewisewhicharesownonstony ground;who,whentheyhaveheardtheword,immediately receiveitwithgladness;
17Andhavenorootinthemselves,andsoendurebutfora time:afterward,whenafflictionorpersecutionarisethfor theword'ssake,immediatelytheyareoffended
18Andthesearetheywhicharesownamongthorns;such asheartheword,
19Andthecaresofthisworld,andthedeceitfulnessof riches,andthelustsofotherthingsenteringin,chokethe word,anditbecomethunfruitful.
20Andthesearetheywhicharesownongoodground; suchasheartheword,andreceiveit,andbringforthfruit, somethirtyfold,somesixty,andsomeanhundred.
21Andhesaiduntothem,Isacandlebroughttobeput underabushel,orunderabed?andnottobesetona candlestick?
22Forthereisnothinghid,whichshallnotbemanifested; neitherwasanythingkeptsecret,butthatitshouldcome abroad.
23Ifanymanhaveearstohear,lethimhear
24Andhesaiduntothem,Takeheedwhatyehear:with whatmeasureyemete,itshallbemeasuredtoyou:and untoyouthathearshallmorebegiven
25Forhethathath,tohimshallbegiven:andhethathath not,fromhimshallbetakeneventhatwhichhehath.
26Andhesaid,SoisthekingdomofGod,asifaman shouldcastseedintotheground;
27Andshouldsleep,andrisenightandday,andtheseed shouldspringandgrowup,heknowethnothow
28Fortheearthbringethforthfruitofherself;firstthe blade,thentheear,afterthatthefullcornintheear
29Butwhenthefruitisbroughtforth,immediatelyhe puttethinthesickle,becausetheharvestiscome
30Andhesaid,Whereuntoshallwelikenthekingdomof God?orwithwhatcomparisonshallwecompareit?
31Itislikeagrainofmustardseed,which,whenitissown intheearth,islessthanalltheseedsthatbeintheearth:
32Butwhenitissown,itgrowethup,andbecometh greaterthanallherbs,andshootethoutgreatbranches;so thatthefowlsoftheairmaylodgeundertheshadowofit
33Andwithmanysuchparablesspakehethewordunto them,astheywereabletohearit.
34Butwithoutaparablespakehenotuntothem:andwhen theywerealone,heexpoundedallthingstohisdisciples

CHAPTER5
1Andtheycameoveruntotheothersideofthesea,into thecountryoftheGadarenes
2Andwhenhewascomeoutoftheship,immediately theremethimoutofthetombsamanwithanuncleanspirit,
3Whohadhisdwellingamongthetombs;andnoman couldbindhim,no,notwithchains:
4Becausethathehadbeenoftenboundwithfettersand chains,andthechainshadbeenpluckedasunderbyhim, andthefettersbrokeninpieces:neithercouldanyman tamehim.
5Andalways,nightandday,hewasinthemountains,and inthetombs,crying,andcuttinghimselfwithstones
6ButwhenhesawJesusafaroff,heranandworshipped him,
7Andcriedwithaloudvoice,andsaid,WhathaveItodo withthee,Jesus,thouSonofthemosthighGod?Iadjure theebyGod,thatthoutormentmenot
8Forhesaiduntohim,Comeoutoftheman,thouunclean spirit.
9Andheaskedhim,Whatisthyname?Andheanswered, saying,MynameisLegion:forwearemany
10Andhebesoughthimmuchthathewouldnotsendthem awayoutofthecountry
11Nowtherewastherenighuntothemountainsagreat herdofswinefeeding.
12Andallthedevilsbesoughthim,saying,Sendusinto theswine,thatwemayenterintothem.
13AndforthwithJesusgavethemleaveAndtheunclean spiritswentout,andenteredintotheswine:andtheherd ranviolentlydownasteepplaceintothesea,(theywere abouttwothousand;)andwerechokedinthesea.
14Andtheythatfedtheswinefled,andtolditinthecity, andinthecountryAndtheywentouttoseewhatitwas thatwasdone
15AndtheycometoJesus,andseehimthatwaspossessed withthedevil,andhadthelegion,sitting,andclothed,and inhisrightmind:andtheywereafraid
16Andtheythatsawittoldthemhowitbefelltohimthat waspossessedwiththedevil,andalsoconcerningthe swine
17Andtheybegantoprayhimtodepartoutoftheircoasts
18Andwhenhewascomeintotheship,hethathadbeen possessedwiththedevilprayedhimthathemightbewith him
19HowbeitJesussufferedhimnot,butsaithuntohim,Go hometothyfriends,andtellthemhowgreatthingsthe Lordhathdoneforthee,andhathhadcompassiononthee 20Andhedeparted,andbegantopublishinDecapolis howgreatthingsJesushaddoneforhim:andallmendid marvel
21AndwhenJesuswaspassedoveragainbyshipuntothe otherside,muchpeoplegathereduntohim:andhewas nighuntothesea
22And,behold,therecomethoneoftherulersofthe synagogue,Jairusbyname;andwhenhesawhim,hefell athisfeet,
23Andbesoughthimgreatly,saying,Mylittledaughter liethatthepointofdeath:Ipraythee,comeandlaythy handsonher,thatshemaybehealed;andsheshalllive 24AndJesuswentwithhim;andmuchpeoplefollowed him,andthrongedhim
25Andacertainwoman,whichhadanissueofblood twelveyears,
26Andhadsufferedmanythingsofmanyphysicians,and hadspentallthatshehad,andwasnothingbettered,but rathergrewworse,
27WhenshehadheardofJesus,cameinthepressbehind, andtouchedhisgarment
28Forshesaid,IfImaytouchbuthisclothes,Ishallbe whole
29Andstraightwaythefountainofherbloodwasdriedup; andshefeltinherbodythatshewashealedofthatplague.
30AndJesus,immediatelyknowinginhimselfthatvirtue hadgoneoutofhim,turnedhimaboutinthepress,and said,Whotouchedmyclothes?
31Andhisdisciplessaiduntohim,Thouseestthe multitudethrongingthee,andsayestthou,Whotouchedme?
32Andhelookedroundabouttoseeherthathaddonethis thing
33Butthewomanfearingandtrembling,knowingwhat wasdoneinher,cameandfelldownbeforehim,andtold himallthetruth
34Andhesaiduntoher,Daughter,thyfaithhathmade theewhole;goinpeace,andbewholeofthyplague.
35Whileheyetspake,therecamefromtherulerofthe synagogue'shousecertainwhichsaid,Thydaughterisdead: whytroublestthoutheMasteranyfurther?
36AssoonasJesusheardthewordthatwasspoken,he saithuntotherulerofthesynagogue,Benotafraid,only believe
37Andhesufferednomantofollowhim,savePeter,and James,andJohnthebrotherofJames
38Andhecomethtothehouseoftherulerofthe synagogue,andseeththetumult,andthemthatweptand wailedgreatly
39Andwhenhewascomein,hesaithuntothem,Why makeyethisado,andweep?thedamselisnotdead,but sleepeth.
40AndtheylaughedhimtoscornButwhenhehadput themallout,hetakeththefatherandthemotherofthe damsel,andthemthatwerewithhim,andenterethin wherethedamselwaslying
41Andhetookthedamselbythehand,andsaiduntoher, Talithacumi;whichis,beinginterpreted,Damsel,Isay untothee,arise
42Andstraightwaythedamselarose,andwalked;forshe wasoftheageoftwelveyears.Andtheywereastonished withagreatastonishment
43Andhechargedthemstraitlythatnomanshouldknow it;andcommandedthatsomethingshouldbegivenherto eat
CHAPTER6
1Andhewentoutfromthence,andcameintohisown country;andhisdisciplesfollowhim
2Andwhenthesabbathdaywascome,hebegantoteach inthesynagogue:andmanyhearinghimwereastonished, saying,Fromwhencehaththismanthesethings?andwhat wisdomisthiswhichisgivenuntohim,thatevensuch mightyworksarewroughtbyhishands?
3Isnotthisthecarpenter,thesonofMary,thebrotherof James,andJoses,andofJuda,andSimon?andarenothis sistersherewithus?Andtheywereoffendedathim.
4ButJesussaiduntothem,Aprophetisnotwithout honour,butinhisowncountry,andamonghisownkin, andinhisownhouse.
5Andhecouldtheredonomightywork,savethathelaid hishandsuponafewsickfolk,andhealedthem
6Andhemarvelledbecauseoftheirunbelief.Andhewent roundaboutthevillages,teaching
7Andhecalleduntohimthetwelve,andbegantosend themforthbytwoandtwo;andgavethempowerover uncleanspirits;
8Andcommandedthemthattheyshouldtakenothingfor theirjourney,saveastaffonly;noscrip,nobread,no moneyintheirpurse:
9Butbeshodwithsandals;andnotputontwocoats
10Andhesaiduntothem,Inwhatplacesoeveryeenter intoanhouse,thereabidetillyedepartfromthatplace
11Andwhosoevershallnotreceiveyou,norhearyou, whenyedepartthence,shakeoffthedustunderyourfeet foratestimonyagainstthemVerilyIsayuntoyou,Itshall bemoretolerableforSodomandGomorrhainthedayof judgment,thanforthatcity.
12Andtheywentout,andpreachedthatmenshouldrepent 13Andtheycastoutmanydevils,andanointedwithoil manythatweresick,andhealedthem.

2Andwhentheysawsomeofhisdiscipleseatbreadwith defiled,thatistosay,withunwashen,hands,theyfound fault
3ForthePharisees,andalltheJews,excepttheywash theirhandsoft,eatnot,holdingthetraditionoftheelders

2AndaftersixdaysJesustakethwithhimPeter,andJames, andJohn,andleadeththemupintoanhighmountainapart bythemselves:andhewastransfiguredbeforethem
3Andhisraimentbecameshining,exceedingwhiteas snow;soasnofulleronearthcanwhitethem.
4AndthereappeareduntothemEliaswithMoses:and theyweretalkingwithJesus

11Andtheyaskedhim,saying,Whysaythescribesthat Eliasmustfirstcome?
12Andheansweredandtoldthem,Eliasverilycometh first,andrestorethallthings;andhowitiswrittenofthe Sonofman,thathemustsuffermanythings,andbesetat nought
13ButIsayuntoyou,ThatEliasisindeedcome,andthey havedoneuntohimwhatsoevertheylisted,asitiswritten ofhim
