CHAPTER1

1TheformertreatisehaveImade,OTheophilus,ofallthat Jesusbeganbothtodoandteach, 2Untilthedayinwhichhewastakenup,afterthathe throughtheHolyGhosthadgivencommandmentsuntothe apostleswhomhehadchosen:

3Towhomalsoheshewedhimselfaliveafterhispassion bymanyinfallibleproofs,beingseenofthemfortydays, andspeakingofthethingspertainingtothekingdomof God:

4And,beingassembledtogetherwiththem,commanded themthattheyshouldnotdepartfromJerusalem,butwait forthepromiseoftheFather,which,saithhe,yehave heardofme.

5ForJohntrulybaptizedwithwater;butyeshallbe baptizedwiththeHolyGhostnotmanydayshence 6Whentheythereforewerecometogether,theyaskedof him,saying,Lord,wiltthouatthistimerestoreagainthe kingdomtoIsrael?

7Andhesaiduntothem,Itisnotforyoutoknowthe timesortheseasons,whichtheFatherhathputinhisown power

8Butyeshallreceivepower,afterthattheHolyGhostis comeuponyou:andyeshallbewitnessesuntomebothin Jerusalem,andinallJudaea,andinSamaria,anduntothe uttermostpartoftheearth.

9Andwhenhehadspokenthesethings,whiletheybeheld, hewastakenup;andacloudreceivedhimoutoftheirsight 10Andwhiletheylookedstedfastlytowardheavenashe wentup,behold,twomenstoodbytheminwhiteapparel; 11Whichalsosaid,YemenofGalilee,whystandye gazingupintoheaven?thissameJesus,whichistakenup fromyouintoheaven,shallsocomeinlikemannerasye haveseenhimgointoheaven.

12ThenreturnedtheyuntoJerusalemfromthemount calledOlivet,whichisfromJerusalemasabbathday's journey

13Andwhentheywerecomein,theywentupintoan upperroom,whereabodebothPeter,andJames,andJohn, andAndrew,Philip,andThomas,Bartholomew,and Matthew,JamesthesonofAlphaeus,andSimonZelotes, andJudasthebrotherofJames

14Theseallcontinuedwithoneaccordinprayerand supplication,withthewomen,andMarythemotherof Jesus,andwithhisbrethren

15AndinthosedaysPeterstoodupinthemidstofthe disciples,andsaid,(thenumberofnamestogetherwere aboutanhundredandtwenty,)

16Menandbrethren,thisscripturemustneedshavebeen fulfilled,whichtheHolyGhostbythemouthofDavid spakebeforeconcerningJudas,whichwasguidetothem thattookJesus.

17Forhewasnumberedwithus,andhadobtainedpartof thisministry

18Nowthismanpurchasedafieldwiththerewardof iniquity;andfallingheadlong,heburstasunderinthemidst, andallhisbowelsgushedout

19AnditwasknownuntoallthedwellersatJerusalem; insomuchasthatfieldiscalledintheirpropertongue, Aceldama,thatistosay,Thefieldofblood.

20ForitiswritteninthebookofPsalms,Lethishabitation bedesolate,andletnomandwelltherein:andhis bishoprickletanothertake.

21Whereforeofthesemenwhichhavecompaniedwithus allthetimethattheLordJesuswentinandoutamongus, 22BeginningfromthebaptismofJohn,untothatsameday thathewastakenupfromus,mustonebeordainedtobea witnesswithusofhisresurrection

23Andtheyappointedtwo,JosephcalledBarsabas,who wassurnamedJustus,andMatthias

24Andtheyprayed,andsaid,Thou,Lord,whichknowest theheartsofallmen,shewwhetherofthesetwothouhast chosen,

25Thathemaytakepartofthisministryandapostleship, fromwhichJudasbytransgressionfell,thathemightgoto hisownplace

26Andtheygaveforththeirlots;andthelotfellupon Matthias;andhewasnumberedwiththeelevenapostles.

CHAPTER2

1AndwhenthedayofPentecostwasfullycome,they wereallwithoneaccordinoneplace

2Andsuddenlytherecameasoundfromheavenasofa rushingmightywind,anditfilledallthehousewherethey weresitting

3Andthereappeareduntothemcloventongueslikeasof fire,anditsatuponeachofthem

4AndtheywereallfilledwiththeHolyGhost,andbegan tospeakwithothertongues,astheSpiritgavethem utterance

5AndthereweredwellingatJerusalemJews,devoutmen, outofeverynationunderheaven.

6Nowwhenthiswasnoisedabroad,themultitudecame together,andwereconfounded,becausethateveryman heardthemspeakinhisownlanguage

7Andtheywereallamazedandmarvelled,sayingoneto another,Behold,arenotallthesewhichspeakGalilaeans?

8Andhowhearweeverymaninourowntongue,wherein wewereborn?

9Parthians,andMedes,andElamites,andthedwellersin Mesopotamia,andinJudaea,andCappadocia,inPontus, andAsia,

10Phrygia,andPamphylia,inEgypt,andinthepartsof LibyaaboutCyrene,andstrangersofRome,Jewsand proselytes,

11CretesandArabians,wedohearthemspeakinour tonguesthewonderfulworksofGod

12Andtheywereallamazed,andwereindoubt,saying onetoanother,Whatmeaneththis?

13Othersmockingsaid,Thesemenarefullofnewwine

14ButPeter,standingupwiththeeleven,lifteduphis voice,andsaiduntothem,YemenofJudaea,andallye thatdwellatJerusalem,bethisknownuntoyou,and hearkentomywords:

15Forthesearenotdrunken,asyesuppose,seeingitisbut thethirdhouroftheday

16ButthisisthatwhichwasspokenbytheprophetJoel; 17Anditshallcometopassinthelastdays,saithGod,I willpouroutofmySpirituponallflesh:andyoursonsand

yourdaughtersshallprophesy,andyouryoungmenshall seevisions,andyouroldmenshalldreamdreams:

18AndonmyservantsandonmyhandmaidensIwillpour outinthosedaysofmySpirit;andtheyshallprophesy:

19AndIwillshewwondersinheavenabove,andsignsin theearthbeneath;blood,andfire,andvapourofsmoke:

20Thesunshallbeturnedintodarkness,andthemooninto blood,beforethatgreatandnotabledayoftheLordcome:

21Anditshallcometopass,thatwhosoevershallcallon thenameoftheLordshallbesaved

22YemenofIsrael,hearthesewords;JesusofNazareth,a manapprovedofGodamongyoubymiraclesandwonders andsigns,whichGoddidbyhiminthemidstofyou,asye yourselvesalsoknow:

23Him,beingdeliveredbythedeterminatecounseland foreknowledgeofGod,yehavetaken,andbywicked handshavecrucifiedandslain:

24WhomGodhathraisedup,havingloosedthepainsof death:becauseitwasnotpossiblethatheshouldbeholden ofit

25ForDavidspeakethconcerninghim,IforesawtheLord alwaysbeforemyface,forheisonmyrighthand,thatI shouldnotbemoved:

26Thereforedidmyheartrejoice,andmytonguewasglad; moreoveralsomyfleshshallrestinhope:

27Becausethouwiltnotleavemysoulinhell,neitherwilt thousufferthineHolyOnetoseecorruption

28Thouhastmadeknowntomethewaysoflife;thou shaltmakemefullofjoywiththycountenance

29Menandbrethren,letmefreelyspeakuntoyouofthe patriarchDavid,thatheisbothdeadandburied,andhis sepulchreiswithusuntothisday

30Thereforebeingaprophet,andknowingthatGodhad swornwithanoathtohim,thatofthefruitofhisloins, accordingtotheflesh,hewouldraiseupChristtositonhis throne;

31HeseeingthisbeforespakeoftheresurrectionofChrist, thathissoulwasnotleftinhell,neitherhisfleshdidsee corruption

32ThisJesushathGodraisedup,whereofweallare witnesses

33ThereforebeingbytherighthandofGodexalted,and havingreceivedoftheFatherthepromiseoftheHoly Ghost,hehathshedforththis,whichyenowseeandhear

34ForDavidisnotascendedintotheheavens:buthesaith himself,TheLORDsaiduntomyLord,Sitthouonmy righthand,

35UntilImakethyfoesthyfootstool.

36ThereforeletallthehouseofIsraelknowassuredly,that GodhathmadethatsameJesus,whomyehavecrucified, bothLordandChrist

37Nowwhentheyheardthis,theywereprickedintheir heart,andsaiduntoPeterandtotherestoftheapostles, Menandbrethren,whatshallwedo?

38ThenPetersaiduntothem,Repent,andbebaptized everyoneofyouinthenameofJesusChristforthe remissionofsins,andyeshallreceivethegiftoftheHoly Ghost

39Forthepromiseisuntoyou,andtoyourchildren,andto allthatareafaroff,evenasmanyastheLordourGodshall call

40Andwithmanyotherwordsdidhetestifyandexhort, saying,Saveyourselvesfromthisuntowardgeneration.

41Thentheythatgladlyreceivedhiswordwerebaptized: andthesamedaytherewereaddeduntothemaboutthree thousandsouls.

42Andtheycontinuedstedfastlyintheapostles'doctrine andfellowship,andinbreakingofbread,andinprayers 43Andfearcameuponeverysoul:andmanywondersand signsweredonebytheapostles

44Andallthatbelievedweretogether,andhadallthings common;

45Andsoldtheirpossessionsandgoods,andpartedthem toallmen,aseverymanhadneed.

46Andthey,continuingdailywithoneaccordinthe temple,andbreakingbreadfromhousetohouse,dideat theirmeatwithgladnessandsinglenessofheart, 47PraisingGod,andhavingfavourwithallthepeople AndtheLordaddedtothechurchdailysuchasshouldbe saved.

CHAPTER3

1NowPeterandJohnwentuptogetherintothetempleat thehourofprayer,beingtheninthhour

2Andacertainmanlamefromhismother'swombwas carried,whomtheylaiddailyatthegateofthetemple whichiscalledBeautiful,toaskalmsofthemthatentered intothetemple;

3WhoseeingPeterandJohnabouttogointothetemple askedanalms

4AndPeter,fasteninghiseyesuponhimwithJohn,said, Lookonus

5Andhegaveheeduntothem,expectingtoreceive somethingofthem.

6ThenPetersaid,SilverandgoldhaveInone;butsuchas IhavegiveIthee:InthenameofJesusChristofNazareth riseupandwalk.

7Andhetookhimbytherighthand,andliftedhimup:and immediatelyhisfeetandanklebonesreceivedstrength 8Andheleapingupstood,andwalked,andenteredwith themintothetemple,walking,andleaping,andpraising God

9AndallthepeoplesawhimwalkingandpraisingGod: 10Andtheyknewthatitwashewhichsatforalmsatthe Beautifulgateofthetemple:andtheywerefilledwith wonderandamazementatthatwhichhadhappenedunto him

11AndasthelamemanwhichwashealedheldPeterand John,allthepeoplerantogetheruntothemintheporchthat iscalledSolomon's,greatlywondering

12AndwhenPetersawit,heanswereduntothepeople,Ye menofIsrael,whymarvelyeatthis?orwhylookyeso earnestlyonus,asthoughbyourownpowerorholiness wehadmadethismantowalk?

13TheGodofAbraham,andofIsaac,andofJacob,the Godofourfathers,hathglorifiedhisSonJesus;whomye deliveredup,anddeniedhiminthepresenceofPilate, whenhewasdeterminedtolethimgo

14ButyedeniedtheHolyOneandtheJust,anddesireda murderertobegranteduntoyou;

15AndkilledthePrinceoflife,whomGodhathraised fromthedead;whereofwearewitnesses

16Andhisnamethroughfaithinhisnamehathmadethis manstrong,whomyeseeandknow:yea,thefaithwhichis byhimhathgivenhimthisperfectsoundnessinthe presenceofyouall.

17Andnow,brethren,Iwotthatthroughignoranceyedid it,asdidalsoyourrulers

18Butthosethings,whichGodbeforehadshewedbythe mouthofallhisprophets,thatChristshouldsuffer,hehath sofulfilled

19Repentyetherefore,andbeconverted,thatyoursins maybeblottedout,whenthetimesofrefreshingshall comefromthepresenceoftheLord;

20AndheshallsendJesusChrist,whichbeforewas preacheduntoyou:

21Whomtheheavenmustreceiveuntilthetimesof restitutionofallthings,whichGodhathspokenbythe mouthofallhisholyprophetssincetheworldbegan

22ForMosestrulysaiduntothefathers,Aprophetshall theLordyourGodraiseupuntoyouofyourbrethren,like untome;himshallyehearinallthingswhatsoeverheshall sayuntoyou

23Anditshallcometopass,thateverysoul,whichwill nothearthatprophet,shallbedestroyedfromamongthe people

24Yea,andalltheprophetsfromSamuelandthosethat followafter,asmanyashavespoken,havelikewise foretoldofthesedays

25Yearethechildrenoftheprophets,andofthecovenant whichGodmadewithourfathers,sayinguntoAbraham, Andinthyseedshallallthekindredsoftheearthbe blessed.

26UntoyoufirstGod,havingraiseduphisSonJesus,sent himtoblessyou,inturningawayeveryoneofyoufrom hisiniquities.

CHAPTER4

1Andastheyspakeuntothepeople,thepriests,andthe captainofthetemple,andtheSadducees,cameuponthem, 2Beinggrievedthattheytaughtthepeople,andpreached throughJesustheresurrectionfromthedead

3Andtheylaidhandsonthem,andputtheminholdunto thenextday:foritwasnoweventide.

4Howbeitmanyofthemwhichheardthewordbelieved; andthenumberofthemenwasaboutfivethousand

5Anditcametopassonthemorrow,thattheirrulers,and elders,andscribes,

6AndAnnasthehighpriest,andCaiaphas,andJohn,and Alexander,andasmanyaswereofthekindredofthehigh priest,weregatheredtogetheratJerusalem

7Andwhentheyhadsettheminthemidst,theyasked,By whatpower,orbywhatname,haveyedonethis?

8ThenPeter,filledwiththeHolyGhost,saiduntothem, Yerulersofthepeople,andeldersofIsrael, 9Ifwethisdaybeexaminedofthegooddeeddonetothe impotentman,bywhatmeansheismadewhole; 10Beitknownuntoyouall,andtoallthepeopleofIsrael, thatbythenameofJesusChristofNazareth,whomye crucified,whomGodraisedfromthedead,evenbyhim doththismanstandherebeforeyouwhole.

11Thisisthestonewhichwassetatnoughtofyou builders,whichisbecometheheadofthecorner

12Neitheristheresalvationinanyother:forthereisnone othernameunderheavengivenamongmen,wherebywe mustbesaved

13NowwhentheysawtheboldnessofPeterandJohn,and perceivedthattheywereunlearnedandignorantmen,they marvelled;andtheytookknowledgeofthem,thattheyhad beenwithJesus

14Andbeholdingthemanwhichwashealedstandingwith them,theycouldsaynothingagainstit

15Butwhentheyhadcommandedthemtogoasideoutof thecouncil,theyconferredamongthemselves,

16Saying,Whatshallwedotothesemen?forthatindeed anotablemiraclehathbeendonebythemismanifesttoall themthatdwellinJerusalem;andwecannotdenyit

17Butthatitspreadnofurtheramongthepeople,letus straitlythreatenthem,thattheyspeakhenceforthtonoman inthisname

18Andtheycalledthem,andcommandedthemnotto speakatallnorteachinthenameofJesus.

19ButPeterandJohnansweredandsaiduntothem, WhetheritberightinthesightofGodtohearkenuntoyou morethanuntoGod,judgeye.

20Forwecannotbutspeakthethingswhichwehaveseen andheard

21Sowhentheyhadfurtherthreatenedthem,theyletthem go,findingnothinghowtheymightpunishthem,because ofthepeople:forallmenglorifiedGodforthatwhichwas done.

22Forthemanwasabovefortyyearsold,onwhomthis miracleofhealingwasshewed

23Andbeingletgo,theywenttotheirowncompany,and reportedallthatthechiefpriestsandeldershadsaidunto them

24Andwhentheyheardthat,theylifteduptheirvoiceto Godwithoneaccord,andsaid,Lord,thouartGod,which hastmadeheaven,andearth,andthesea,andallthatin themis:

25WhobythemouthofthyservantDavidhastsaid,Why didtheheathenrage,andthepeopleimaginevainthings?

26Thekingsoftheearthstoodup,andtherulerswere gatheredtogetheragainsttheLord,andagainsthisChrist

27ForofatruthagainstthyholychildJesus,whomthou hastanointed,bothHerod,andPontiusPilate,withthe Gentiles,andthepeopleofIsrael,weregatheredtogether,

28Fortodowhatsoeverthyhandandthycounsel determinedbeforetobedone.

29Andnow,Lord,beholdtheirthreatenings:andgrant untothyservants,thatwithallboldnesstheymayspeakthy word,

30Bystretchingforththinehandtoheal;andthatsigns andwondersmaybedonebythenameofthyholychild Jesus.

31Andwhentheyhadprayed,theplacewasshakenwhere theywereassembledtogether;andtheywereallfilledwith theHolyGhost,andtheyspakethewordofGodwith boldness

32Andthemultitudeofthemthatbelievedwereofone heartandofonesoul:neithersaidanyofthemthatought ofthethingswhichhepossessedwashisown;buttheyhad allthingscommon.

33Andwithgreatpowergavetheapostleswitnessofthe resurrectionoftheLordJesus:andgreatgracewasupon themall

34Neitherwasthereanyamongthemthatlacked:foras manyaswerepossessorsoflandsorhousessoldthem,and broughtthepricesofthethingsthatweresold,

35Andlaidthemdownattheapostles'feet:and distributionwasmadeuntoeverymanaccordingashehad need

36AndJoses,whobytheapostleswassurnamedBarnabas, (whichis,beinginterpreted,Thesonofconsolation,)a Levite,andofthecountryofCyprus, 37Havingland,soldit,andbroughtthemoney,andlaidit attheapostles'feet

CHAPTER5

1ButacertainmannamedAnanias,withSapphirahiswife, soldapossession,

2Andkeptbackpartoftheprice,hiswifealsobeingprivy toit,andbroughtacertainpart,andlaiditattheapostles' feet.

3ButPetersaid,Ananias,whyhathSatanfilledthineheart tolietotheHolyGhost,andtokeepbackpartoftheprice oftheland?

4Whilesitremained,wasitnotthineown?andafteritwas sold,wasitnotinthineownpower?whyhastthou conceivedthisthinginthineheart?thouhastnotliedunto men,butuntoGod

5AndAnaniashearingthesewordsfelldown,andgaveup theghost:andgreatfearcameonallthemthatheardthese things

6Andtheyoungmenarose,woundhimup,andcarried himout,andburiedhim.

7Anditwasaboutthespaceofthreehoursafter,whenhis wife,notknowingwhatwasdone,camein

8AndPeteranswereduntoher,Tellmewhetheryesold thelandforsomuch?Andshesaid,Yea,forsomuch

9ThenPetersaiduntoher,Howisitthatyehaveagreed togethertotempttheSpiritoftheLord?behold,thefeetof themwhichhaveburiedthyhusbandareatthedoor,and shallcarrytheeout

10Thenfellshedownstraightwayathisfeet,andyielded uptheghost:andtheyoungmencamein,andfoundher dead,and,carryingherforth,buriedherbyherhusband

11Andgreatfearcameuponallthechurch,anduponas manyasheardthesethings

12Andbythehandsoftheapostlesweremanysignsand wonderswroughtamongthepeople;(andtheywereall withoneaccordinSolomon'sporch

13Andoftherestdurstnomanjoinhimselftothem:but thepeoplemagnifiedthem.

14AndbelieverswerethemoreaddedtotheLord, multitudesbothofmenandwomen)

15Insomuchthattheybroughtforththesickintothestreets, andlaidthemonbedsandcouches,thatattheleastthe shadowofPeterpassingbymightovershadowsomeof them

16Therecamealsoamultitudeoutofthecitiesround aboutuntoJerusalem,bringingsickfolks,andthemwhich werevexedwithuncleanspirits:andtheywerehealed everyone

17Thenthehighpriestroseup,andalltheythatwerewith him,(whichisthesectoftheSadducees,)andwerefilled withindignation,

18Andlaidtheirhandsontheapostles,andputtheminthe commonprison.

19ButtheangeloftheLordbynightopenedtheprison doors,andbroughtthemforth,andsaid, 20Go,standandspeakinthetempletothepeopleallthe wordsofthislife

21Andwhentheyheardthat,theyenteredintothetemple earlyinthemorning,andtaughtButthehighpriestcame, andtheythatwerewithhim,andcalledthecouncil together,andallthesenateofthechildrenofIsrael,and senttotheprisontohavethembrought

22Butwhentheofficerscame,andfoundthemnotinthe prison,theyreturned,andtold,

23Saying,Theprisontrulyfoundweshutwithallsafety, andthekeepersstandingwithoutbeforethedoors:but whenwehadopened,wefoundnomanwithin.

24Nowwhenthehighpriestandthecaptainofthetemple andthechiefpriestsheardthesethings,theydoubtedof themwhereuntothiswouldgrow.

25Thencameoneandtoldthem,saying,Behold,themen whomyeputinprisonarestandinginthetemple,and teachingthepeople.

26Thenwentthecaptainwiththeofficers,andbrought themwithoutviolence:fortheyfearedthepeople,lestthey shouldhavebeenstoned.

27Andwhentheyhadbroughtthem,theysetthembefore thecouncil:andthehighpriestaskedthem,

28Saying,Didnotwestraitlycommandyouthatyeshould notteachinthisname?and,behold,yehavefilled Jerusalemwithyourdoctrine,andintendtobringthis man'sblooduponus.

29ThenPeterandtheotherapostlesansweredandsaid, WeoughttoobeyGodratherthanmen

30TheGodofourfathersraisedupJesus,whomyeslew andhangedonatree

31HimhathGodexaltedwithhisrighthandtobeaPrince andaSaviour,fortogiverepentancetoIsrael,and forgivenessofsins

32Andwearehiswitnessesofthesethings;andsoisalso theHolyGhost,whomGodhathgiventothemthatobey him

33Whentheyheardthat,theywerecuttotheheart,and tookcounseltoslaythem.

34Thenstoodthereuponeinthecouncil,aPharisee, namedGamaliel,adoctorofthelaw,hadinreputation amongallthepeople,andcommandedtoputtheapostles forthalittlespace;

35Andsaiduntothem,YemenofIsrael,takeheedto yourselveswhatyeintendtodoastouchingthesemen.

36ForbeforethesedaysroseupTheudas,boastinghimself tobesomebody;towhomanumberofmen,aboutfour hundred,joinedthemselves:whowasslain;andall,as manyasobeyedhim,werescattered,andbroughttonought

37AfterthismanroseupJudasofGalileeinthedaysof thetaxing,anddrewawaymuchpeopleafterhim:healso perished;andall,evenasmanyasobeyedhim,were dispersed.

38AndnowIsayuntoyou,Refrainfromthesemen,and letthemalone:forifthiscounselorthisworkbeofmen,it willcometonought:

39ButifitbeofGod,yecannotoverthrowit;lesthaplyye befoundeventofightagainstGod.

40Andtohimtheyagreed:andwhentheyhadcalledthe apostles,andbeatenthem,theycommandedthatthey shouldnotspeakinthenameofJesus,andletthemgo.

41Andtheydepartedfromthepresenceofthecouncil, rejoicingthattheywerecountedworthytosuffershamefor hisname

42Anddailyinthetemple,andineveryhouse,theyceased nottoteachandpreachJesusChrist.

CHAPTER6

1Andinthosedays,whenthenumberofthediscipleswas multiplied,therearoseamurmuringoftheGreciansagainst theHebrews,becausetheirwidowswereneglectedinthe dailyministration

2Thenthetwelvecalledthemultitudeofthedisciplesunto them,andsaid,Itisnotreasonthatweshouldleavethe wordofGod,andservetables

3Wherefore,brethren,lookyeoutamongyousevenmen ofhonestreport,fulloftheHolyGhostandwisdom,whom wemayappointoverthisbusiness

4Butwewillgiveourselvescontinuallytoprayer,andto theministryoftheword.

5Andthesayingpleasedthewholemultitude:andthey choseStephen,amanfulloffaithandoftheHolyGhost, andPhilip,andProchorus,andNicanor,andTimon,and Parmenas,andNicolasaproselyteofAntioch:

6Whomtheysetbeforetheapostles:andwhentheyhad prayed,theylaidtheirhandsonthem.

7AndthewordofGodincreased;andthenumberofthe disciplesmultipliedinJerusalemgreatly;andagreat companyofthepriestswereobedienttothefaith.

8AndStephen,fulloffaithandpower,didgreatwonders andmiraclesamongthepeople

19Nowtheywhichwerescatteredabroaduponthe persecutionthataroseaboutStephentravelledasfaras Phenice,andCyprus,andAntioch,preachingthewordto nonebutuntotheJewsonly

20AndsomeofthemweremenofCyprusandCyrene, which,whentheywerecometoAntioch,spakeuntothe Grecians,preachingtheLordJesus

2WhenthereforePaulandBarnabashadnosmall dissensionanddisputationwiththem,theydeterminedthat PaulandBarnabas,andcertainotherofthem,shouldgoup toJerusalemuntotheapostlesandeldersaboutthis question.

3Andbeingbroughtontheirwaybythechurch,they passedthroughPheniceandSamaria,declaringthe conversionoftheGentiles:andtheycausedgreatjoyunto allthebrethren

3AndthenextdaywetouchedatSidon.AndJulius courteouslyentreatedPaul,andgavehimlibertytogounto hisfriendstorefreshhimself

4Andwhenwehadlaunchedfromthence,wesailedunder Cyprus,becausethewindswerecontrary

5AndwhenwehadsailedovertheseaofCiliciaand Pamphylia,wecametoMyra,acityofLycia.

6AndtherethecenturionfoundashipofAlexandria sailingintoItaly;andheputustherein.

7Andwhenwehadsailedslowlymanydays,andscarce werecomeoveragainstCnidus,thewindnotsufferingus, wesailedunderCrete,overagainstSalmone;

8And,hardlypassingit,cameuntoaplacewhichiscalled Thefairhavens;nighwhereuntowasthecityofLasea

16Andrunningunderacertainislandwhichiscalled Clauda,wehadmuchworktocomebytheboat:

17Whichwhentheyhadtakenup,theyusedhelps, undergirdingtheship;and,fearinglesttheyshouldfallinto thequicksands,strakesail,andsoweredriven

18Andwebeingexceedinglytossedwithatempest,the nextdaytheylightenedtheship;

19Andthethirddaywecastoutwithourownhandsthe tacklingoftheship

20Andwhenneithersunnorstarsinmanydaysappeared, andnosmalltempestlayonus,allhopethatweshouldbe savedwasthentakenaway

2Andthebarbarouspeopleshewedusnolittlekindness: fortheykindledafire,andreceiveduseveryone,because ofthepresentrain,andbecauseofthecold

3AndwhenPaulhadgatheredabundleofsticks,andlaid themonthefire,therecameaviperoutoftheheat,and fastenedonhishand

4Andwhenthebarbarianssawthevenomousbeasthang onhishand,theysaidamongthemselves,Nodoubtthis manisamurderer,whom,thoughhehathescapedthesea, yetvengeancesufferethnottolive.

5Andheshookoffthebeastintothefire,andfeltnoharm 6Howbeittheylookedwhenheshouldhaveswollen,or fallendowndeadsuddenly:butaftertheyhadlookeda greatwhile,andsawnoharmcometohim,theychanged theirminds,andsaidthathewasagod.

11Andafterthreemonthswedepartedinashipof Alexandria,whichhadwinteredintheisle,whosesignwas CastorandPollux

12AndlandingatSyracuse,wetarriedtherethreedays

13Andfromthencewefetchedacompass,andcameto Rhegium:andafteronedaythesouthwindblew,andwe camethenextdaytoPuteoli:

14Wherewefoundbrethren,andweredesiredtotarry withthemsevendays:andsowewenttowardRome

15Andfromthence,whenthebrethrenheardofus,they cametomeetusasfarasAppiiforum,andThethree taverns:whomwhenPaulsaw,hethankedGod,andtook courage

16AndwhenwecametoRome,thecenturiondelivered theprisonerstothecaptainoftheguard:butPaulwas sufferedtodwellbyhimselfwithasoldierthatkepthim.

17Anditcametopass,thatafterthreedaysPaulcalledthe chiefoftheJewstogether:andwhentheywerecome together,hesaiduntothem,Menandbrethren,thoughI havecommittednothingagainstthepeople,orcustomsof ourfathers,yetwasIdeliveredprisonerfromJerusalem intothehandsoftheRomans.

18Who,whentheyhadexaminedme,wouldhaveletme go,becausetherewasnocauseofdeathinme

19ButwhentheJewsspakeagainstit,Iwasconstrainedto appealuntoCaesar;notthatIhadoughttoaccusemy nationof

20ForthiscausethereforehaveIcalledforyou,toseeyou, andtospeakwithyou:becausethatforthehopeofIsraelI amboundwiththischain

21Andtheysaiduntohim,Weneitherreceivedlettersout ofJudaeaconcerningthee,neitheranyofthebrethrenthat cameshewedorspakeanyharmofthee

22Butwedesiretohearoftheewhatthouthinkest:foras concerningthissect,weknowthateverywhereitisspoken against

23Andwhentheyhadappointedhimaday,therecame manytohimintohislodging;towhomheexpoundedand testifiedthekingdomofGod,persuadingthemconcerning Jesus,bothoutofthelawofMoses,andoutoftheprophets, frommorningtillevening

24Andsomebelievedthethingswhichwerespoken,and somebelievednot.

25Andwhentheyagreednotamongthemselves,they departed,afterthatPaulhadspokenoneword,Wellspake theHolyGhostbyEsaiastheprophetuntoourfathers, 26Saying,Gountothispeople,andsay,Hearingyeshall hear,andshallnotunderstand;andseeingyeshallsee,and notperceive:

27Fortheheartofthispeopleiswaxedgross,andtheir earsaredullofhearing,andtheireyeshavetheyclosed; lesttheyshouldseewiththeireyes,andhearwiththeirears, andunderstandwiththeirheart,andshouldbeconverted, andIshouldhealthem

28Beitknownthereforeuntoyou,thatthesalvationof GodissentuntotheGentiles,andthattheywillhearit

29Andwhenhehadsaidthesewords,theJewsdeparted, andhadgreatreasoningamongthemselves

30AndPauldwelttwowholeyearsinhisownhiredhouse, andreceivedallthatcameinuntohim,

31PreachingthekingdomofGod,andteachingthose thingswhichconcerntheLordJesusChrist,withall confidence,nomanforbiddinghim.
