A clipper is a fast sailing ship of the middle third of the 19th century. Clippers sailed all over the world, primarily on the trade routes between the United Kingdom and its colonies in the east. The term “clipper” derives from the verb “clip”, which in former times meant, among other things, to run or fly swiftly.

The second largest city in the U.S., Los Angeles is known for its mediterranean climate, its booming economy, strengths in business and international trade.

Bolder, sharper letter forms. The Los Angeles type treatment slightly gives a nod to the original Los Angeles Stars ABA era uniform wordmark from 1968. No more script wordmarks. For now.

A fresh take on the Clippers court, which has remained relatively unchanged for over a decade. Sailor blue surrounds the hardwood, with red along side the paint. Top baseline reads Los Angeles, and the bottom reads Clippers. The LAC rope and double anchor tertiary also sits at either baseline, while the LA rope and double anchor secondary take one side of the opposite wings.

The souvenir, the proof in the pudding. The ticket sales. Tickets often become part of a scrapbook, a place to grab a quick autograph or a keepsake to a memorable game. The ticket becomes an artifact of sorts, and a collectable item for fans. New colors, star players in new uniforms. The Clippers are ready to sail.
