ABOUT US The I AM a Golfer Foundation (IAMGF) was established in 2018 as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. Our mission is to be a catalyst for community renewal and transformation in South Dallas through the Programming, Preservation, and Promotion of the historic Cedar Crest Golf Course.

Co-Founders Ira Molayo and Dave Ridley strongly believed that the promotion of the sport and activity to diverse and historically underserved communities could have an impact beyond the course and into the daily lives of those reached by the foundation.

Initially, this impact was accomplished by creating life-changing opportunities for South Dallas youth through golf and golf-related programs at Cedar Crest. In 2021, we expanded our initiatives beyond programming to include preservation and promotion as means to achieve a more comprehensive impact and path forward.

Founded in 2018, the Dallas Amateur Championship has quickly become an annual tradition for amateur golfers across the region.

Showcasing the championship pedigree of historic Cedar Crest, annually, nearly 600 amateurs participate in qualifiers leading to the two-day championship at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
