Conceptual and methodological articles should be written so that they are accessible to the journal's diverse international readership. We normally do not publish review papers, although we might make rare exceptions for rigorous and critical reviews on topical issues.

Il servizio NILDE per le biblioteche: Document Delivery e Prestito Interbibliotecario

essenzialmente dalla natura tipicamente bottom up, lo spirito di collaborazione, il lavoro di gruppo, la partecipazione, lo sfruttamento dell'intelligenza collettiva, l'ascolto e il costante work in progress dei suoi sviluppatori.

NILDE consente alla biblioteca di: gestire in modo automatizzato le procedure connesse al Document Delivery; gestire l'invio dei documenti in modo elettronico sicuro attraverso un'interfaccia web con server dedicato, oppure tramite fax e posta ordinaria; offrire agli utenti della biblioteca un servizio personalizzato di Document Delivery; avere un bilancio dettagliato e sempre aggiornato degli scambi effettuati tra biblioteche, con la possibilità di misurare e confrontare le performance delle varie biblioteche, o della stessa negli anni; rilevare automaticamente gli indicatori di qualità “tasso di successo” e “tempo di fornitura”; far parte di un network fondato sulla condivisione di buone pratiche, di strumenti e di politiche per il miglioramento continuo dei servizi di Document Delivery.

Le biblioteche IAMB e IAMB-Agricoltura Biologica hanno aderito al servizio NILDE (Network InterLibrary Document Exchange), studiato per favorire il servizio di Document Delivery e rendere più rapido e sicuro lo scambio interbibliotecario di articoli o parti di libri.

Il servizio NILDE, nato nel 2001 per iniziativa della Biblioteca del CNR di Bologna nell'ambito del progetto del CNR BiblioMIME, è un sistema che permette alle biblioteche di richiedere e di fornire documenti via web. NILDE ha come scopo lo sviluppo della cooperazione interbibliotecaria nei servizi di Document Delivery e, a tal fine, intende promuovere la reciprocità degli scambi tra le biblioteche e facilitare la diffusione di standard qualitativi omogenei nell'erogazione dei servizi DD. NILDE è un software on-line per il servizio di Document Delivery attorno al quale si è costituita una comunità di biblioteche disposte a condividere le loro risorse bibliografiche in spirito di collaborazione reciproca e, prevalentemente, in maniera gratuita.

NILDE è, quindi, sia un'applicazione web-based che un network di biblioteche che condividono una precisa e innovativa idea di servizio, connotato

Prima di avvalersi del servizio è necessario controllare la correttezza della citazione bibliografica e assicurarsi che il documento di interesse non sia presente nel catalogo IAMB (Opac) o nelle riviste elettroniche in abbonamento (Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Acta horticulturae). È possibile richiedere articoli o parti di volumi attraverso il servizio NILDE attivo via web 24 ore al giorno, inviando una richiesta via email a Giuseppe Inchingolo o Wanda Occhialini.

Nel recupero dei documenti viene privilegiata la modalità gratuita del reciproco scambio tra biblioteche; qualora non sia possibile, sarà richiesto un rimborso delle spese che la biblioteca fornitrice del documento addebiterà alla Biblioteca richiedente.

All'arrivo del materiale richiesto l'utente verrà tempestivamente informato.

Si ricorda che, non potendo essere spedita per posta elettronica per motivi legati al diritto d'autore[1] o alle

licenze elettroniche, la copia del documento dovrà comunque essere ritirata in biblioteca, indipendentemente dal formato originale. Il servizio viene svolto nei limiti previsti dalla normativa vigente in materia di diritto d'autore e dalle specifiche licenze d'uso sottoscritte per alcune tipologie di risorse, nonché da quelli imposti da ragioni di conservazione, in particolare per i documenti antichi o rari.

68/2003 [2]), pur non prevedendo disposizioni specifiche sul servizio DD, ne rende possibile l'applicazione nelle biblioteche: (DL 68/2003, Capo I, art. 9: nuovi art. 68 e 68-bis del Capo V, tit. I, modificati della L 633/1941) "la riproduzione di opere per uso personale è consentita nei limiti del 15% di ciascun volume o fascicolo di periodico, escluse le pagine di pubblicità"; relativamente alla tecnica di riproduzione e di trasmissione della copia "sono consentite riproduzioni effettuate mediante fotocopia, xerocopia o sistema analogo" e sono consentiti "atti di riproduzione temporanea transitori e accessori e parte integrante ed essenziale di un procedimento tecnologico, eseguiti all'unico scopo di consentire la trasmissione in rete tra terzi".

Un tipo di trasmissione analoga può avvenire tramite fax oppure mediante trasferimento via Internet di una copia elettronica protetta (modalità di Internet delivery di tipo fax-based), ottenuta attraverso un programma per la cifratura di file (DRM); la riproduzione di un documento tramite scanner genera una copia che differisce dall'originale e può essere utilizzata per la trasmissione in formato elettronico.

Mancando tuttavia disposizioni specifiche sul DD nella legge, eventuali clausole presenti nel contratto stipulato fra biblioteche ed editori prevalgono sulla legge generale: solitamente non vi sono controindicazioni all'invio di copie cartacee, mentre possono esserci limitazioni nella trasmissione elettronica di file, anche se non originali; talvolta la licenza permette l'invio del file originale, applicando restrizioni nel numero di documenti inviati in un arco temporale definito.

The NILDE service for libraries: Document Delivery and Inter-library loan The CIHEAM Bari and MAIB-Organic Agriculture libraries have joint the NILDE Service (Network InterLibrary Document Exchange), which has been designed to support the Document Delivery service and enable faster and more secure inter-library exchange of articles or parts of books.

system permits libraries to request and deliver documents via the web. NILDE is aimed at developing inter-library cooperation in Document Delivery services and hence, it is intended to facilitate reciprocity in libraries' exchange and spread of harmonized quality standards for DD services supply.

The libraries that are member of the NILDE network adhere to the national catalogues as follows:

NILDE is an on-line software system for Document Delivery service which has brought together a community of libraries willing to share their bibliographic resources in a spirit of mutual cooperation and, in general, free of charge.

NILDE is therefore a web-based application for a network of libraries sharing a clear-cut and innovative idea of bottom-up service, collaborative and teamworking spirit, participation, use of collective intelligence, willingness to listen and continuous work in progress by its developers.

In its 16 years of activity, NILDE has vectored 2,105,540 requests of documents. Finding a document inside the network has become increasingly easier and the average delivery time, in number of days, has progressively decreased.

NILDE makes it possible for a library to i) manage automatically all procedures related to Document Delivery; ii) to manage the delivery of documents in a secure electronic form by a web interface with a dedicated server, or by fax and regular mail; iii) to provide to the library's users a personalised Document Delivery; iv) to keep detailed and updated records of inter-library exchange, including the possibility to measure and compare the performance of the various libraries or of the same library over the years; v) to assess automatically some quality indicators i.e. “success rate” and “delivery time”; vi) to become member of a network based on sharing of good practices, tools and policies for continuous improvement of Document Delivery services.

The network includes 877 libraries dealing with the following institutional and thematic areas:

Mediterranean Agronomic Institue of Bari General Rules for DD service through NILDE, for students and institutional researchers.

Before accessing the service, the user shall check that the bibliographic citation is correct and that the document concerned is neither included in CIHEAM Bari catalogue (Opac) nor in the e-journals for which the library holds a subscription (Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Acta horticulturae).

It is possible to request articles or parts of books through the NILDE service which is available online 24 hours a day, by sending an email to Mr Giuseppe Inchingolo or Mrs Wanda Occhialini.

The document will generally be retrieved and supplied free of charge based on inter-library mutual exchange; where this is not possible, the actual costs incurred will be claimed and charged by the library which delivers the document to the library requesting the loan.

The user will be promptly informed upon receipt of the item.

Note that the copy of the document, which cannot be sent by email for copyright reasons [1] or due to electronic licence agreements, shall be withdrawn from the library regardless of its original format. The service is provided in accordance with the legislation concerning copyright and the specific licence agreements covering some types of resources or agreements relating to maintenance, in particular, of ancient or rare documents.

[1] Legislation concerning DD and ILL The current legislation concerning copyright (see more specifically Directive 2001/29/EC] and DL n.

68/2003 [2]), which does not lay down specific measures for DD service, provides however for its application in the libraries: (DL 68/2003, Paragraph I, art. 9: new articles 68 and 68-bis of Paragraph V, title I, as amended by Law 633/1941) "reproduction of works for personal use is permitted up to 15% of each volume or issue of periodical, excluding advertising pages"; as regards the technique used for copy reproduction and transmission "reproductions by means of photocopy, xerocopy or similar systems are allowed" and "transitory and accessory, temporary reproduction is allowed in so far as it is complementary and essential in a technological procedure, only for the purpose of allowing web-based transmission between third parties".

A similar type of transmission is made possible by sending a fax or a protected electronic copy via the Internet (fax-based Internet delivery), using Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology; the reproduction of a document by means of a scanner generates a copy which differs from the original and may be used for transmission in electronic form.

Since no specific provision relating to DD is set out by the law, all possible clauses included in the contract signed by the libraries and the publishers shall prevail over the general rule; there are no contraindications, in general, to sending paper copies, whereas some

limitations may apply to electronic transmission of files where they are not original; sometimes, the licence allows sending of the original file, by applying a restriction to the number of documents sent in a given time interval.

This student put 50 million stolen research articles online. And they're free.

The 27-year-old graduate student from Kazakhstan is operating a searchable online database of nearly 50 million stolen scholarly journal articles, shattering the $10 billion-per-year paywall of academic publishers.

Elbakyan has kept herself beyond the reach of a federal judge who late last year issued an injunction against her site, noting that damages could total $150,000 per article - a sum that Applied and Computational Harmonic Analysis, a journal in her database, could help calculate. But she is not hiding from responsibility. “There are many ways to argue that copyright infringement is not theft, but even if it is, it is justified in this case,” she said in an instant-message interview via Google. “All content should be copied without restriction. But for education and research, copyright laws are especially damaging.” Elbakyan is pursuing a master's degree in the history of science while pursuing the worldwide liberation of knowledge from, as she sees it, the tyranny of for-profit publishers.

Her ideology was shaped growing up in a former Soviet republic where access to information and the Internet was difficult. She has been compared to Robin Hood, although she said: “Sometimes I think it is not a good comparison, since what he was doing was illegal.

And sharing books and research articles should not be illegal.” Many academics, university librarians and longtime advocates for open scholarly research are closely following Elbakyan's efforts. They think she is finally giving academic publishers their Napster moment, a reference to the illegal music-sharing service that disrupted and permanently altered the industry. “While we don't condone fraud and using illegal sources, I will say that I appreciate how she is shining a light on just how out-of-whack the system is of providing easy access to basic information that our universities and scholars need to advance science and research,” said Heather Joseph, executive director of

Abstract (EN): The current technologies, which are increasingly captivating and “ubiquitous”, provide an essential means of supporting shared information systems. Recent studies have shown that “crowdsourcing” techniques, carried over from other areas than distance learning, are a valuable tool in lifelong learning and adult education. The term “crowdsourcing” is obviously referred to concept maps exchanged through different contributors and via an appropriate applied technology (social software) and an approach close to the “wiki” phylosophy. Hence, it can be assumed that the experience gained by MAIB through a Learning Management System (LMS) and based on a cooperative/collaborative-constructivist teaching method might be oriented to future crowdsourcing experiments. New educational tools could thus be supported to create synergies between participants who could share the phases of production, use and reuse of tools. Besides describing the available technological solutions, this article also identifies some results derived from the “best practices” implemented by MAIB that match the model under discussion and are related to different issues of “knowledge management”. A further task has been to analyse the “cognitive sustainability” in relation to “crowdsourcing” approach, through the experience gained so far in distance learning. The last part focuses on “inclusive education” that is indicated as a new effective method in favourable environments, such as virtual learning communities (LCs).

Abstract (IT): Le attuali tecnologie, dalle caratteristiche sempre più coinvolgenti ed “ubiquitous”, costituiscono un imprescindibile supporto all'informazione condivisa. Le tecniche di “crowdsourcing”, ereditate da domini non propri alla formazione a distanza, sono considerate efficace strumento secondo i recenti studi condotti in contesti di “Lifelong Learning” ed apprendimento per l'adulto. Il termine “crowdsourcing” è evidentemente riferito a risorse concettuali scambiate mediante più contributori e per mezzo di un'opportuna tecnologia applicata (social software) ed un approccio affine la filosofia “wiki”. Si potrebbe ipotizzare, quindi, che l'esperienza maturata da MAIB attraverso un Learning Management System (LMS) ed un metodo didattico (cooperativo/collaborativo-costruttivista), possa essere orientata a future sperimentazioni di crowdsoucing . Si potranno sostenere, pertanto, nuovi dispositivi educativi in stretta sinergia tra i vari partecipanti tali da condividerne le fasi di: produzione, fruizione e riutilizzo degli stessi. Nell'articolo, oltre che a descriverne le soluzioni tecnologiche disponibili, si identificano alcuni risultati provenienti da “best practices” realizzate da MAIB verosimilmente convergenti il modello preso in esame e legati ai vari aspetti di “knowledge management”. Si è inteso analizzare, inoltre, attraverso l'esperienza nella formazione a distanza fin ora maturata, la “sostenibilità cognitiva” in relazione all'approccio di tipo “crowdsourcing”. Indicando, infine, con particolare attenzione ed in riferimento alla tecnologia in continua evoluzione, la “didattica inclusiva” quale metodo efficace in ambienti favorevoli le comunità virtuali d'apprendimento (LC).

Title: La sostenibilità didattico-formativa dell'e-learning : social networking e apprendimento attivo Abstract: Il rapporto fra qualità e sostenibilità dell'e-learning attraverso lo studio di alcuni casi reali centrati sull'apprendimento attivo e l'intensa interazione sociale. Il testo presenta la cronistoria di un corso di apprendimento collaborativo a rete (NCL), corredata punto per punto degli strumenti di supporto alla sua conduzione. Qual è il rapporto fra qualità e sostenibilità dell'e-learning? Che cosa si intende per e-learning di qualità e quali fattori lo condizionano? Sono queste le domande a cui il volume, in modo più pragmatico che teorico, tenterà di dare una risposta. In che modo? Innanzi tutto definendo entro quali dimensioni sia possibile sviluppare un'analisi multiprospettica della sostenibilità dell'e-learning; quindi mettendo a fuoco quelle che si ritiene abbiano maggiore impatto sulla qualità degli apprendimenti, ossia le dimensioni didattico-formativa e professionale dell'e-teacher. Per mantenere un giusto bilanciamento fra aspetti metodologici e pratici, il volume propone lo studio di alcuni casi reali centrati sull'apprendimento attivo e l'intensa interazione sociale, ingredienti essenziali per elevare qualitativamente un qualsiasi percorso formativo. Tali esperienze offrono l'occasione sia per un approfondimento sull'uso del social networking a supporto dello studio collaborativo sia per illustrare possibili approcci alla progettazione del networked collaborative learning (NCL), ossia dell'apprendimento collaborativo a rete, oltre che in rete. Abstract: The Expert Workshop on gender-equitable small-scale fisheries in the context of the implementation of the SSF Guidelines was held on 28-30 November 2016 in FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy. Abstract: The present study is a gender assessment of the dairy value chain in selected sites in Rwanda: Gicumbi, Nyagatare and Nyanza Districts as well as Kigali City. Drosophila suzukii Matsumura (Diptera: Drosophilidae), an invasive pest native of Southeast Asia, had never been reported in Albania until 2015. In order to investigate its presence, traps baited with apple cider vinegar were used in single and mixed orchards in different locations (Vlore, Divjake and Hamallaj), from June 2015 to May 2016. Traps were placed in fig, persimmon, pomegranate, medlar, and jujube orchards as well as on citrus, blackberry and raspberry evergreen trees. Trap monitoring was performed weekly. The first finding of D. suzukii was in a jujube orchard in Vlore, on 18 September 2015. Afterwards, D. suzukii was found in all the other orchards with the highest presence on soft fruits in two distinct periods of trap capture: fall and spring. All fruit orchards had no trap captures during the summer months (June-August 2015) and most of them had low captures during the coldest winter months (January-February 2016). The fruit infestation was observed on raspberry and blackberry during the monitoring period. In traps, 3 species of parasitoids were found in all fruit blocks. This first occurrence report of the invasive species Drosophila suzukii in Albania should motivate further surveys of this potential pest and its parasitoids.

Only few studies exist on organic food consumption in Egypt and for suppliers to sustain their business performance and innovate, a deeper understanding of existing and potential consumers is essential. This research attempts to gain insights on organic consumers in Cairo and to investigate their motivational cognitive structure in order to design the hierarchical value map linking the attributes of organic foods to the benefits or consequences of experiencing organic food consumption and the personal values they satisfy. The means-endchain (MEC) is proposed as the theoretical base of the study and a convenience sample was used to conduct 230 laddering interviews. Results showed that the main values influencing the final purchase choice of consumers were “own health” and “children's health and family protection”. Thus, marketing communication should pay attention to these self- related priorities although deeper consumer behavior research is needed to formulate appropriate marketing strategies to stimulate organic food consumption in Egypt.

Date palm fruit, one of the most nutritive and comprehensive fruit regarding health benefits is becoming an ideal substrate for deriving a range of value added products. The aim of this study was to develop the biotechnological protocol in order to exploit the functional properties of dates. Autochthonous lactic acid bacteria were isolated through culturedependent methods and typed through Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RAPD-PCR) analysis. Sixteen isolates representative of RAPD-PCR clusters were identified by partial 16S rRNA gene sequence and were screened based on the kinetics of growth on date palm juice used as model. Five autochthonous Lactobacillus plantarum strains were selected as the best performing strains. Nutritional and functional properties of fermented samples were compared with unfermented (raw) and chemically acidified one used as control, after freeze drying. In the European Union, demand for high quality organic food is increasing, and imports are trying to satisfy more and more this demand. Studies underlined the importance of technical trade barriers in the agricultural sector. For organic products, national differences in legislations and control systems could act as a major non-tariff barrier for exporting countries, particularly the developing ones, which could fail to benefit from the increasing organic market opportunities in developed countries. This study explores the obstacles faced by the organic farming sector in Egypt due to the absence of a proper legislation on organic agriculture. It also reports the impact of the EU import scheme on the Egyptian organic trade mechanism, where the absence of an equivalent system forces Egyptian organic exports to enter the EU through particular import procedures. This work proposes a new law on organic farming in Egypt, following the structure of the EU Regulation No. 834/2007 on organic agriculture and its evaluation against international organic standards. The purpose is dual: to provide the Egyptian organic farming sector and operators with a national law to develop the domestic market and to create a new, alternative trade route with the EU, in an attempt to reach a future equivalency of regulations.

Drosophila suzukii or Spotted Wing Drosophila (SWD) is a pest which has recently spread in western countries. It threatens several profitable fruit crops and is also known to develop on a wide range of natural host plants. Current control methods rely on the application of insecticides but this strategy proves to be poorly effective, polluting and unsustainable. This study, conducted in Italy, investigates the efficacy of endemic and commercially available parasitoids on SWD, under laboratory conditions. It also reports on life-history traits of three species of resident parasitoids of SWD and finally assesses the efficiency of two of them in the field. Two commercially available pupal parasitoids were proved to be unable to develop on the pest whereas Trichopria drosophilae, a resident pupal parasitoid showed a high parasitization rate. Lifetime fecundity experiments gave information on parasitoids reproductive strategies. Field trials successfully showed the parasitoids ability to locate and parasitize the pest. The augmentorium technique, set up in one of the field trials, proved to be partly effective and therefore needs to be further improved. This study contributes to the development of the pest biocontrol strategies which may become an important management tool in the near future for an area-wide control of SWD. Two systems (AM, AC) are based on a long-term approach to soil fertility relying on agro-ecological services crops (ASC) grown in the summer season as green manure, and on the application of organic amendments such as manure (AM) or green compost (AC). The third system (SB) includes a substitution approach based on an organic commercial fertilizer and no ASC cultivation. In all the systems, zucchini (Cucurbita pepo L. 'Striata di Puglia') was the cash crop cultivated from September 2015 to January 2016. SB gave the highest yield (18.66 t ha-1) and the lowest N budget (deficit of -75.4 kg ha-1) whereas a surplus was reported with both AC and AM. Significantly, the soil organic carbon in AC and AM has increased since the beginning of the experiment, while in SB it has remained constant. The effect of long-term systems (AM and AC) on soil carbon proved to be positive at the cost of zucchini yield reduction.

The aim of this study was to understand the behavior of the Common Green Lacewing, Chrysoperla carnea s.l., in an Apulian organic vineyard in 2015/2016. The efficiency of a “Lacewing Egg Concentrator” (Csalomon®) on the oviposition performance and its effect on the control of Vine Mealybug, Planococcus ficus, was evaluated. Entomofauna diversity inside and nearby the vine agroecosystem was also assessed to verify the incidence of C. carnea's potential preys. Results showed a significantly higher number of eggs laid on grapevines with synthetic attractant-based concentrators than those laid on control. However, no significant difference was observed between these treatments with respect to P. ficus. On yellow sticky traps, Chrysoperla pallida was the dominant species, and Homoptera was the dominant order (56%). Within the latter, the most abundant families were Cicadellidae (96%) and Aphidoidae (2.5%), which are potential preys of C. carnea. On spontaneous vegetation growing under vines and at the borders, nearly half of the collected insects belonged to Cicadellidae. Predators belonging to Nabidae, Miridae, and Arachnida were also present to a lesser extent. On Phacelia tanacetifolia, a trap plant, Heteroptera (65%) and Thysanoptera (22%) were dominant. Predators belonging to Anthocoridae and to Miridae constituted the major families.

Comparison of Organic and Conventional Farms/Wineries in Batroun RegionLebanon: Sustainability Case Study / Ludmila Skaf; [sup. G. Calabrese, S. Rouphael]. Tesi datt. - Valenzano : IAMB, 2016. - 109 p. ; 30 cm.

Numerous reports and scientific papers have emphasized the impacts of organic agriculture on the farms sustainability, but only a few studies have been conducted in Lebanon so far. For this reason, in Batroun region, Lebanon, three organic and three conventional grapevine farms and wineries were compared to assess their sustainability. A French model called 'IDEA' (Indicateurs de Durabilité des Exploitations Agricoles) was used to compare the sustainability between and within the selected farms/wineries. The IDEA method assigns a sustainability score to each farm/winery on the basis of three different dimensions (agroecological, socio-territorial and economic), which are in turn subdivided into three or four related components. Hence, a total of 10 components were assessed for each farm/winery and subdivided into forty-one indicators. Data were collected through field visits and questionnaires. Field experiment was carried out in order to investigate the effects of compost tea fertigation combined with partial root zone drying irrigation system (PRD) on the production and quality of eggplant under organic agriculture. The experimental design was set as a split plot with four replications. Fertilization treatments (main plots) included: 1) commercial organic fertilizers CF, 2) compost tea fertigation CT. While the irrigation treatments (sub-plots) included: 1) 100% of irrigation requirement, 2) 50% of irrigation requirement and 3) 50% of irrigation requirement with PRD technique. The results demonstrated that saving 50% of water requirement using PRD technique combined with compost tea fertigation, a higher yield was obtained without any significant decrease in the fruit quality parameters like total soluble polyphenols, micro element content, chlorogenic acid content and percentage of antioxidant activity (AA%) of ascorbic acid solution (AAcidS) assessed by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH) free radical assay.

Evaluation of factors which affect Spilocaea oleagina infections and definition of the effects of the disease on vegetation, inflorescence development and fruiting of olive on Palestinian organic farms / A K Issa Tahreer; [sup. An evaluation of peacock eye disease (Spilocaea oleagina) on olive trees was carried out in organic olive orchards in Palestine (Asira, Cannan, Narc and Sir). In each orchard, 6 plants were randomly chosen (3 pruned and 3 not pruned). Attack evaluation was determined based on the percentage of infected leaves in different portions of the canopy: upper, middle and lower portions. Infection level was determined every 20 days, by monitoring the percentage of symptomatic leaves and the early-infected ones (using NaOH test). In spring, the inflorescence size was determined just before flowering (white stage) along with the percentage of fruit-set of labelled small branches. Strong differences in infection level, related to climatic conditions, were observed among the different sites investigated. Pruning reduced the tree susceptibility to the disease. Infection was higher in the lower parts of the canopy than in the upper portions. Peacock eye strongly affected the size of inflorescences and fruit set: a negative relationship between peacock-eye attack and inflorescence development and fruit set was observed after defoliation caused by the disease. Based on the effects on fruit set, we may conclude that the disease can reduce the production up to one fourth with respect to healthy trees.

Apulia is Italy's largest table grape producing and exporting region where table grape has considerable economic and environmental impacts. The aim of this study is to describe the organic and advanced integrated seeded and seedless table grape farming in Apulia region and to assess its sustainability comparing the economic performances and environmental impacts of three varieties, namely Italia (seeded), Crimson and Sugraone (seedless).

Furthermore, the study proposes some suggestions on the most profitable and environmentally friendly varieties and growing systems to farmers and policy makers. The methodological tools applied include: the SWOT analysis to describe the characteristics of the sector, the Cost benefit analysis to compare different gross margins and other economic indicators and the Life cycle assessment to calculate the carbon footprint as an indicator for different environmental performances of the three varieties and the two farming systems.

Results show that organic farming systems are the most profitable and the less harmful for the environment, especially for Sugraone. These results may be improved through better marketing strategies for organic products both in terms of demand and supply. From the environmental point of view, an increase in organic yields and the improvement of farming techniques may reduce land and fossil fuel use so as to make it more sustainable.

Abstract: Un ecosistema è capace di ripristinare autonomamente il suo equilibrio ecologico; attraverso il fitorimedio, la fitodepurazione e le biopiscine è possibile sfruttare questa sorprendente capacità naturale per rimuovere gli inquinanti. Il volume "Le piante che depurano l'acqua" prende in esame nel dettaglio queste tre tecnologie naturali e il diverso ruolo che le piante acquatiche giocano in ognuna di esse. Quattro autori riuniscono qui le proprie specifiche conoscenze, frutto di anni di ricerca scientifica e lavoro sul campo. Un libro completo sulle piante acquatiche, in cui sono presentate le soluzioni che ogni specie può offrire: biopiscine, vasche di fitodepurazione, impiego irriguo di acque inquinate; questi e altri sistemi per depurare con le piante. A completamento del testo si offre un'ampia sezione dedicata alle schede delle piante utilizzabili per la depurazione delle acque, suddivise per specie autoctone, alloctone e terrestri, riportanti informazioni specifiche sulla generalità della pianta, tipo ecologico, sviluppo, coltivazione, provenienza, diffusione e molto altro. Arricchiscono il testo numerosi grafici e fotografie di ciascuna specie per favorire un'agevole comprensione.

Title: Fitodepurazione. Gestione sostenibile delle acque Abstract: Aggiornato alla più recente normativa come il Testo unico sull'ambiente D.Lgs. 152/06 e alle linee guida nazionali dell'ISPRA, il testo, di facile lettura ma di assoluto rigore scientifico, descrive le tipologie e le condizioni di applicabilità della fitodepurazione, con riferimento alle caratteristiche degli scarichi e dei reflui da trattare. Title: Guida tecnica per la progettazione e gestione dei sistemi di fitodepurazione per il trattamento delle acque reflue urbane.

Abstract: Il ricorso a tecniche di depurazione naturale per il trattamento delle acque reflue rappresenta ormai una scelta ampiamente diffusa a livello mondiale.

I sistemi di depurazione naturale possono rappresentare una soluzione adeguata per il trattamento dei reflui provenienti da centri abitativi sparsi e, in generale, da piccole e medie utenze, laddove la scelta della configurazione impiantistica da adottare non può prescindere da una valutazione costi/benefici, che spesso evidenzia le difficoltà di realizzazione di impianti tecnologici. Largamente diffusa nella maggior parte dei Paesi Europei, in America del Nord, in Australia, etc., l‟applicazione della fitodepurazione trova, ormai, spazio anche in ambiti diversi da quello urbano; infatti la ricerca scientifica e, successivamente, la sperimentazione tecnica, ne hanno confermato l‟applicabilità anche per il trattamento di reflui industriali ed in settori particolari come quello turistico (campeggi, hotel, agriturismi, etc.), in presenza di forti variazioni nella quantità e qualità di acque reflue trattate giornalmente. Negli ultimi anni, anche in Italia è stata acquisita una vasta e dettagliata esperienza di studio, progettazione e realizzazione di sistemi di fitodepurazione per il trattamento delle acque reflue. La normativa nazionale auspica, per piccoli insediamenti abitativi (con popolazione equivalente compresa tra 50 e 2.000 abitanti equivalenti), il ricorso a tecniche di depurazione a ridotto impatto ambientale, quali ad esempio la fitodepurazione e il lagunaggio. In coerenza con il quadro normativo di riferimento, la presente Guida Tecnica (che si aggiunge ai manuali ANPA, “Linee Guida per la ricostruzione di aree umide per il trattamento di acque superficiali”, 2002, e APAT, “Linee Guida per la progettazione e gestione di zone umide artificiali per la depurazione dei reflui civili”, 2005), intende integrare le conoscenze maturate sull‟argomento e fornire indicazioni metodologiche e tecniche in ordine alla progettazione e gestione dei sistemi di depurazione naturale per il trattamento delle acque reflue urbane con particolare riferimento alle configurazioni impiantistiche più adatte, sia in relazione alle caratteristiche dei reflui da trattare, sia alle differenti esigenze depurative connesse alla maggiore o minore vulnerabilità dei corpi idrici recettori finali degli scarichi. Il volume, che si pone quale riferimento nazionale per gli operatori del settore, illustra i principi di funzionamento dei sistemi di fitodepurazione, i criteri di dimensionamento, gli elementi costruttivi, le modalità di gestione e manutenzione delle opere, nonché gli aspetti generali connessi con l‟inserimento paesaggistico ed ambientale. Uno spazio importante è stato riservato alle relazioni tra le configurazioni impiantistiche maggiormente utilizzate sul territorio nazionale e il contesto normativo di riferimento, in particolare per quanto riguarda il rispetto dei limiti allo scarico che, per gli impianti di piccola o modesta entità, rappresenta uno degli aspetti più delicati e problematici.

In considerazione delle problematiche relative alla scelta delle soluzioni impiantistiche più idonee a fronteggiare le particolari situazioni locali (sia di ordine ambientale, che normativo) il presente lavoro intende fornire, agli operatori e tecnici del settore, uno strumento utile al fine di orientarsi nella scelta delle soluzioni impiantistiche più adatte, sia in relazione ai differenti contesti ambientali, che alle differenti disposizioni normative adottate a livello regionale.
