Dr. Ioan Sbârciu, și Galeria IAGA Contemporary Art, expoziția se prezintă ca o întâlnire extraordinară a capodoperelor artei moderne internaționale: aproximativ 25 de lucrări, la cel mai înalt nivel, create între anii '60 și prezent, de către cei mai cunoscuți artiști ai perioadei de după cel deal doilea Război Mondial.

Curatoriata de Olimpia Bera, Bogdan Iacob și Walter Bonomi și în strânsă legătură cu Muzeul de Artă Cluj Napoca, expoziția prezintă publicului o relație interesantă între limbaje artistice diferite, plecând de la pictura poetică, ca alphabet, semn, gest, ajungându-se la o artă cinetică și conceptuală, limbaje regăsite în lucrările artiștilor expuși: Carla Accardi, Sam Francis, Emilio Scanavino, Ioan Sbârciu, Victor Vasarely, Emilio Vedova, Penck, Bruno Munari, Rainer Arnulf, Keith Hering, Dadamaino, Gino de Dominicis, Shiraga Kazuo, Manfredo Massironi, César Baldaccini.

Expoziția nu este o simplă oportunitate de “a vedea” capodopere de artă, ci și de a învăța să vezi ceea ce nu se vede: emoția căutării, descoperirea dorinței, curajul alegerilor, responsabilitatea activității artistului.

Produced in close collaboration between the Director of the Art Museum in Cluj-Napoca, Mr. Lucian Nastasa-Kovacs, Ph.D. Professor Ioan Sbârciu and IAGA Contemporary Art Gallery, the exhibition is presented as an extraordinary meeting between international modern art masterpieces: approximately 25 artworks, of the highest level, created between the 60's until now, by the most well-known artists from the post Second World War period.

The exhibition curated by Olimpia Bera, Bogdan Iacob and Walter Bonomi, in close relation with the Art Museum in ClujNapoca, presents to the public an interesting relationship between different artistic languages, starting from the poetic painting as alphabet, sign, gesture, arriving to a cinetic and conceptual art, languages found in the exposed artworks of: Carla Accardi, Sam Francis, Emilio Scanavino, Ioan Sbârciu, Victor Vasarely, Emilio Vedona, Penck, Bruno Munari, Rainer Arnulf, Keith Hering, Dadamaino, Gino de Dominicis, Shiraga Kazuo, Manfredo Massironi, César Baldaccini.

The exhibition is not just a simple opportunity of "seeing" art masterpieces, but is also a way of learning to see what cannot be seen: the emotion of searching, the discovery of desire, the courage of choosing, and the responsibility of the artist's activity.

Selecția de lucrări cuprinde opere mai mult sau mai puțin cunoscute publicului, din palmaresul artistic modern. Colecția istorică a Galeriei IAGA Contemporary Art reunește în mare parte opere ale anilor '60-'90, un segment particular în avangarda artei europene, asiatice și americane din secolul trecut. „Il Movimento delle Cose” indică o orientare înspre contemporaneitate a manifestărilor artistice din istoria recentă.

Vorbim despre artiști care au experimentat diferite tehnici, au traversat curente și stiluri variate, pentru desăvârşirea unei amprente personale. Permanenta mișcare în decursul anilor de practică și teorie artistică indică o transformare a formelor plastice în pictură și în sculptură, dar și o poveste, de fiecare dată unică, a impactului pe care îl are opera, personalitatea și viața, în mod particular, asupra istoriei artelor. Contemporaneitatea unei opere de artă nu ține atât de vârstă sau de prezența fizică a creatorului în lume.

The artwork selection includes works from the modern art record, more or less known to the public. IAGA Contemporary Art Gallery's historical collection reunites works from the 60s to the 90s, a particular segment in the avant-garde of European, Asian and American art in the past century. "Il Movimento delle Cose" indicate an orientation towards contemporaneity of artistic events in the recent history. We are talking about artists that experimented with different techniques, crossed currents and various styles in order to shape a personal touch. The permanent movement over years of artistic practice and theory indicates a transformation of plastic forms in painting and sculpture, and also a story, each time unique, of the impact that the work, personality and life have, particularly on art history. The contemporaneity of an artwork is not represented by the age or the physical presence of its creator in the world.

Ne referim de această dată la un mare bagaj cultural care are capacitatea de a se reinventa, de a se redefini în acord cu actualele configurații în plan artistic.

Jocul interferențelor între generații și între culturi diferite lansează ideea de diversitate, de capacitate de influenţă reciprocă asupra stilurilor, curentelor, manierelor de lucru.

Nu în ultimul rând, mișcarea este temeiul prezenței selecții.

Colecția istorică transcede simbolic cadrul dinamic al galeriei private și se reasamblează sub egida unui spațiu muzeal, deschis publicului, repunând în discuție valoarea intrinsecă a operei de artă.

Aspectele centrale ale Galeriei IAGA Contemporary Art, platformă culturală vie, reprezintă obiectivele principale de a dezvolta și promova un dialog între cercetările artistice moderne, dar mai ales contemporane ale artei de Vest și cele ale artei de Est. Mulțumită participărilor la târguri de artă internaționale, festivaluri și evenimente internaționale de artă contemporană și a numeroaselor colaborări cu diverse instituții naționale și internaționale, Galeria IAGA Contemporary Art privește spre un posibil viitor unde schimburile culturale şi comunicarea internatională sunt într-adevăr fundaţia pe care se pot construi şi urmării proiecte artistice şi geografii culturale.

This time we refer to a great cultural baggage that has the capacity to reinvent itself, to redefine itself in accordance with the actual configurations in the artistic plan.

The interference game between different generations and cultures launches the idea of diversity, capacity of reciprocal influence over styles, currents, manners of work.

Least but not last, the movement is the basis of the current selection. The historical collection symbolically transcended the dynamic of the private gallery and reassembles under the auspices of a museum space, open to the public, reinstating the intrinsic value of the artwork.

The general aspects of IAGA Contemporary Art Gallery, a live cultural platform, represents the main objectives of developing and promoting a dialog between the modern artistic researches, but mainly of the contemporary of the Western and Eastern art.

Thanks to the participations at international art fairs, international contemporary art festivals and events and to numerous collaborations with several national and international institutes, IAGA Contemporary Art Gallery looks towards a possible future where cultural exchanges and international communications are indeed the foundation on which we may build and track artistic projects and cultural geographies.

Artiștii reprezentanți pentru colecția istorică a galeriei IAGA fac parte din generațiile încă active ale artei moderne și contemporane. Operele lor sunt prezente în întreaga lume, în spații muzeale sau în colecții particulare. Arta postbelică italiană domină, prin diversele sale fațete, prezența la Muzeul de Artă din Cluj-Napoca, într-o expoziție care trasează o punte de legătură între generațiile moderne de artiști și cei contemporani, care în continuare se fac remarcați în mediile occidentale și în cele răsăritene. Se crează, pe de-o parte, o rețea între artele deja consacrate între cele două coordonate (Estul și Vestul), dar și între mediile de interacțiune cu opera de artă – spațiul muzeal (public) și galeria de artă (spațiul artistic privat)– pe de altă parte.

Cea de-a doua jumătate a secolului al XX-lea a fost marcată, după cum o arată și prezenta selecție, de o multitudine de direcții în arta vizuală. Pictura, îndeosebi, a constituit un mediu efervescent de redare plastică, prin potențialul său vast de explorare a unor tehnici neonvenționale. Obiectul sculptural și cel decorativ - devenite obiect- instalație au urmat acest traseu al picturalităților, al expresiei culorii sau al volumetriilor abstracte. Curente precum suprarealismul, astracționismul liric, expresionismul cu particularitățile lui, stilurile Pop-art și Op-art sunt reprezentate în această sinteză a avangardelor, ca parte din istoricul avangardei globale specifice anilor `60- `90 din America, Europa și Orientul îndepărtat.

The artists represented in the historical collection of the IAGA gallery belong to the generations, active to this day, of modern and contemporary art. Their work are exhibited all over the world, in museum spaces or private collections. The Italian post-war art prevails in the Art Museum of Cluj-Napoca, through its different facets, to an exhibition that marks a linking bridge between the generations of modern and contemporary artists that are being noted in the western and eastern spaces as well. Links are created, on one hand, among the already consecrated arts between the two cardinal points (the West and the East), and on the other hand, between the settings that interact with the art work – the museum space (public) and the art gallery (the private artistic space).

The latter half of the twentieth century has been marked, as well as the present selection of the exhibit, by a multitude of visual art directions. The painting constituted above all an effervescent setting of plastic reproduction thanks to its vast potential of exploration of the unconventional techniques. The sculptural and decorative object - become object-installation - has followed the path of the pictorial, of the coloured expression or the abstract volumetric. The currents such as surrealism, lyrical abstractionism, expressionism with its peculiarities, the Pop-art and Op-art styles are represented in this synthesis of the vanguard arts as a part of the history of the global Avant-garde peculiar to the '60s-'90s America, Europe and the Far East.

Procesul cumulativ ce stă la baza prezentei selecții de lucrări vine în întâmpinarea nevoii de a tezaurza o colecție de artă cu reale valențe muzeale, în vederea pezervării, în timp, a unor valori intrate deja în tradiția artistică și care sunt recunoscute ca atare dincolo de estimările cuantificabile din perspectiva piețelor de artă. Istoria imaginii este reactualizată și pusă în relație cu realitatea producției artistice contemporane, o realitate vie, în plină desfășurare. Vorbim, în acest caz, atât despre procese, cât și despre personalități: arta abstractă, expresionismul sunt stiluri artistice în continuă transformare; valențele lor interpretative iau naștere odată cu omul și cu momentul istoric căruia acesta îi aparține. Operele reprezintă un cumul de pasaje și experimente creative asumate, care rămân actuale atâta timp cât se discută despre autenticitatea actului artistic în timpii reali ai procesului de creație. Artiști precum: Victor Vasarely, Emilio Vedova sau César Baldaccini sunt personalități care au disputant îndelung procesul de redare al formelor, de la originea și construcția ei, până la efectul de abstracție sau dematerializare. Pictura lui Vedova, puternic informală, își găsește, cu prilejul prezentei selecții, un corespodent în expresivitatea cromatică a operelor lui Sam Francis, prin raportul dinamic care se stabilește între cromatica gestului și spațiul compozițional. Într-un alt registru, gestualismul, puternic exploatat în pictură, lasă loc atât intervențiilor spontane cât și performance-ului pictural (Shiraga Kazuo). Dincolo de spontaneitate și de tentația informalului, pictura este acțiune, angajament. Fie că vorbim de forme generate ale expresionismul abstract, de neorealism sau neoexpresionism, pictorul, graficianiul și sculptorul intervin, formal și conceptual, asupra realităților perceptibile. César transformă aceste realități în obiecte-totem cărora le atribuie forme și semnificații originale, lăsându-se inspirit de inutilitatea materialelor reziduale. O artă totemică, însă într-un registru neoexpressionist, se regăsește în arta lui A.R. Penk, a cărui preocupare, aflată sub influența artelor primitive, este reducerea lucrurilor la o stare brută, primordială.

The cumulative process that is found at the base of the present selection of works meets the need to prize a collection of art with real meaning for museums, in order to preserve, throughout time, the values already integrated and well known in the artistic tradition, beyond the quantifiable presumptions from the art market perspective. The history of the image is updated and is put in relation with the reality of contemporary artistic production, a reality alive and full of action. In such case, it's about processes as well as personality: the abstract art, the expressionism are artistic styles in perpetual metamorphosis; their interpretative values rise with the existence of man and the moment in history to which he belongs.

The works represent an accumulation of passages and creative experiments that remain actual as long as the authenticity of the artistic act is summoned in the real time of the process of creation.

Artists like: Victor Vasarely, Emilio Vedova and César Baldaccini are personalities that have long questioned the process of reproduction of forms, of its origin and construction to the effect of abstraction and dematerialisation. The painting of Vedova, strongly informal, finds in occasion of the present selection a correspondent in the chromatic expressivity of the works of Sam Francis, thanks to the dynamic relationship established between the chromaticity of gesture and the space of composition.

In another register, gesturalism, deeply explored in painting, makes space for its spontaneous manifests as well as the pictorial performances (Shiraga Kazuo). Beyond the spontaneity and the temptation toward the informal, the picture becomes an action, a duty. Independently from the forms generated by abstract expressionism, from neorealism or from neo-expressionism, the painter, the graphic artist and the sculptor intervene in a formal and conceptual manner on the perceptible realities. César transforms such realities in totem-objects of original forms and meanings, letting himself be tempted by the uselessness of the residual materials. However, a totemic art in a neo-expressionist register reveals itself in the art of A.R. Penk as well, whose interest, under the rule of the primitive arts, aims at the mutation of the objects to a raw, primal state.

Haring Keith redă în arta sa, prin mijloace inspirate din stilul Popart, o serie de secvențe animate, conceptualizate, despre naștere, moarte, sexualitate și violență. În prezenta expoziție, „For Cynthia” (1987) face trimitere, în mod nemijlocit, la intimitatea propriei persoane, într-o manieră autoironică.

Apelul la esența umană este dezvăluită și prin manipularea picturală a fotografiei, așa cum este reprezentată, metaforic, în arta lui Arnuf Rainer. Artistul dezumanizează personajele, printro intervenție brutală, , insuflându-i un profil expresiv cu totul neobișnuit. În ce privește structura metafizică a reprezentărilor lui Gino de Dominicis, aceasta duce înspre o sinteză minimală a unor figuri stranii, teatrale. Figura umană, redusă la concept, se interpune ca un vid în alternarea planurilor.

Pictura lui Ioan Sbârciu traversează etapele de materializare și de deconstrucție a formelor, transportând în timpul prezent un legământ ancestral între om și natură. Artistul realizează un joc cromatic ale cărui reguli oscilează între expresia gestuală și fascinația pentru imanența realității formelor; transformările în abstract redau o a doua natură a lucrurilor, fiind expresia acțiunii nemijlocite a omului în lumea reală. „Dublajul” abstract ia amploare în configurarea expresivă a peisajului, iar această dedublare a naturii devine o componentă atemporală într-un spațiu nelimitat.

Expresionismul în abordarea spațială a formelor este prezent în pictura lui Emilio Scanavino. Realizate într-o manieră grafică și cu o cromatică restrânsă, operele reconstituie, într-un registru abstract, o serie de structuri figurative ce iau forma unor ansambluri generice autonome.

Precursoare a mișcării Arte Povera, Carla Accardi a experimentat formele abstracte de factură caligrafică pe diferite suporturi neconvenționale, arta sa construindu-se pe acest contrast dintre esențializarea formelor și varietatea mediilor experimentate.

Haring Keith reproduces in his art, with tools inspired by the Popart style, a series of animated and conceptualised sequences on the genesis, on death, on sexuality and on violence. In the present exhibit, 'For Cynthia', (1987) refers directly to the intimacy of his person in a self-ironic manner.

The call addressed to the human essence is also revealed by the pictorial manipulation of photography as metaphorically represented in the art of Arnuf Rainer. The artist de-humanises the characters with an unseemly intervention, giving them a totally unusual expressive demeanor.

In regards to the metaphysical structure of the representations of Gino de Dominicis, this is directed toward a minimal synthesis of a few strange, theatrical figures. The human figure, diminished to the concept, interrupts itself like a video in a change of plans.

The painting of Ioan Sbârciu passes through the phases of materialisation and construction of the forms, bringing in the present time an ancestral oath between man and nature. The artist creates a chromatic game in which rules swing from the gestural expression and the enchantment for the immanence of the reality of forms; the transformations in abstract reproduce a second nature to the objects, becoming the expression of action directed to man in the real world. The abstract 'dubbing' acquires amplitude in the expressive representation of the setting, and such dubbing of nature becomes a timeless component in a limitless space.

In the spatial approach to forms, the expressionism is present in the painting of Emilio Scanavino as well. Realised in a graphical manner and with restricted chromatics, the works reconstitute a series of figurative structures, in an abstract register, which take form of some autonomous generic collections.

The precursor of the movement Arte Povera, Carla Accardi, has experimented with the abstract forms of calligraphic nature on various unconventional supports, founding her art on such contrast between the essence of forms and the variety of experimental settings.

Reprezentativă pentru avangarda italiană, Dadamaiano (Edarda Emilia Maino) redă o dinamică variată a formelor simple, conducând înspre o abordare mult mai eclectică viziunea spațială inspirată de Lucio Fontana.

Victor Vasarely se afirmă ca inițiator al mișcării Op-art, opera sa fiind o evidență a preocupărilor pentru crearea iluziilor optice, folosind principiile abstracte ale lui W. Kandinsky, cele geometrice inspirate de Bauhaus și de Constructivism. Tema predilectă, cea a cinetismului formelor, se constituie prin sugerarea profunzimii spațiale cu ajutorul geometriilor și a tonalităților într-o gamă cromatică restrânsă.

Manfredo Massironi și Bruno Munari se evidențiază în arta italiană prin logica impusă în redarea, prin mijloace minime, a unui câmp de percepție vizuală aflate sub influența artei cinetice, a cunoștiințelor de arhitectură și a Futurismului. Forma este relativă în spațiu, redusă la esență, însă aceasta are puterea de a se autogenera în cele trei dimensiuni spațiale.

Preocuparea pentru formă și pentru dinamica sa în spațiu reprezintă un leit-motiv al prezentei colecții, dincolo de conținutul și semnificațiile conștiente care se pot atribui în mod particular creatorilor moderni și postmoderni. Nu întâmplător, majoritatea artiștilor selectați au evitat sau evită, în creațiile lor, catalogarea strictă în cadrul unei anume mișcări artistice, construindu-și întreaga existență în jurul propriilor transformări și a mișcărilor inerente în raport cu revoluțiile culturale. Ceea ce rămâne de reținut prin parcurgerea acestei expoziții este varietatea itinerariilor, potențialul lor educativ, importanța istorică în evocarea mediilor avangardiste și deschiderile pe care aceste medii le orientează în fața noilor generații de artiști.

Representative of the Italian Avant-garde, Dadamaino (Edarda Emilia Maino) reproduces a dynamic variety of simple forms, with an approach much more eclectic, a spatial vision inspired by Lucio Fontana.

Victor Vasarely affirms himself as an initiator of the Op-art movement, his work being of evident interest for the creation of optical illusions, utilising the abstract principles of W. Kandinsky, those geometrics inspired by Bauhaus and Constructivism. The prevalent theme, that of the kinetics of forms, constitutes itself thanks to the spatial depth suggested with the help of the geometrics and tonalities in a restricted chromatic variety.

Manfredo Massironi and Bruno Munari highlight themselves in the Italian art through the imposed logic in the representation, with minimal tools, in a field of visual perception under the rule of kinetic art, of the architectural knowledge and of Futurism. In the space, form is relative, reduced to the essence, but has power to automatically generate itself in the three spatial dimensions.

The interest for the form and its dynamics in the space represents a leitmotif of this collection, beyond the content and the informed meanings, ascribable particularly to the modern and postmodern creators. It's not by chance that the majority of the selected artists have avoided or avoid, in their creations, being absolutely a part of a certain artistic movement, building the entire existence around their metamorphosis and around their inherent movements in relation to the cultural revolutions. What must be retained, going through the exhibit, is the variety of itineraries, their potential educational power, the historical importance in the evocation of the Avant-garde settings and of the horizons that such settings propose to the new generations of artists.

TIMES AND GENESIS Expoziţia care se naşte din colaborarea continuă a Directorul Muzeului de Artă Cluj Napoca, Prof. Univ. Dr. Lucian Nastasă-Kovacs, Prof. Univ. Dr. Ioan Sbârciu și Galeria IAGA Contemporary Art, se prezintă ca o selecţie de lucrări ale artiştilor reprezentaţi şi promovaţi de către galeria IAGA Contemporary Art. Curatoriată de Olimpia Bera şi în strânsă legătură cu Muzeul de Artă Cluj Napoca, prezenta expoziţie prezintă publicului o relaţie interesantă între limbaje artistice diferite. Reprezintă un proiect care include diferite stadii din procesele de creaţie ale artiştilor expozanţi. În acest context, puntea de legatură este reprezentată de abordarea spaţiului din perspectiva generării de forme şi a experimentului divers în exprimarea artistică. Geneza şi timpul fac apel la personalitatea fiecărui creator, devenind conceptul unei generaţii comune.

Precum sugerează şi titlul expoziției, operele expuse reflectă asupra transformărilor care au loc in diverse culturi, dialogând cu scena internaţională contemporană prin mediile de transpunere în pictură, fotografie, instalaţie sau sculptură, fiind abordate limbaje tradiţionale din perspectiva contemporană.

Timpuri şi geneze reprezintă un act ce deschidere spre arta din Europa de Est, într-o călătorie fascinantă, capabilă să atingă tema deja consacrată a prezenţei omului în lume: timpul este unul fizic, trăit în desfăşurarea cronologică a vieţii, dar există şi un timp interior, cel al “germinării” ideilor şi al concretizării acestora în interiorul actului artistic.

Curated by Olimpia Bera in close relation with the Art Museum in Cluj-Napoca, this exhibition presents to the public an interesting relationship between different artistic languages. It is a project that includes different stages of the creation processes of the exhibiting artists. In this context, the connections between them is represented by the addressing space from the perspective of generating forms and diverse experimentation within the artistic expression. The genesis and time appeal to each creator's personality, becoming the common concept of an entire generation.

As the exhibition title suggests, the shown artworks reflect upon the transformations that take place in different cultures, creating dialog with the international scene through mediums of transposition in painting, photography, installation or sculpture, addressing traditional languages from a contemporary perspective.

Times and Genesis represent an opening act towards the Eastern Europe, through a fascinating journey, capable to reach the already consecrated theme of the human presence in the world: time is physical, lived in the chronological development of life, but there is also the interior time, the one "germinating" ideas and materializing them inside the artistic act.

Obiectul coexistă într-o relaţie strânsă cu trecutul şi viitorul în opera lui Nicola Vinci, Gabriela Elena David, Marcello Gobbi, Liu Bolin şi Giorgio Tentolini. Urma, umbra, amprenta, sunt toate semne ale experienţelor care trec, poveşti care au fost spuse şi evenimente ce lasă în urmă dovada existenţei oamenilor, obiectelor şi locurilor. În spatele aspectului formal, artiştii Angela Corti, Alexandra Mureşan, Francesco Arecco şi Marcello de Angelis dezvăluie încercarea continuă a omului de a ordona lumea vizibilului şi pe cea a invizibilului, în tentaţia de a le reda în acord cu modele preexistente în timp şi spaţiu.

Principiul genezei joacă un rol important în cercetarea artistică asupra dimensiunii abstracte a spaţiului, în lucrările tinerilor artişti Sabina Elena Dragomir si Mihai Vrăbieş. Se nasc astfel semne şi trasee ale unor experienţe picturale autentice.

Dimensiunile metafizice ale timpurilor şi genezelor inovează prin forme abstracte idei primordiale, în simbolica imaginii din operele lui Maurizio Galimberti, Franco Fontana, Silvia Inselvini şi Mimmo Iacopino.

Din dorinţa de a contribui cu adevărat la dezvoltarea culturală a unei generaţii, Galeria IAGA Contemporary Art alege să creeze nu doar o expoziţie, ci un moment important de reflexie a ceea ce înseamnă promovarea şi colecţionarea artei contemporane astăzi, alegând să colaboreze cu artişti şi instituţii cu o sensibilitate vie şi dorinţa de a crea dialoguri între culturi şi limbaje diferite, naţionale şi internationale.

The object coexists in a tight relationship with the past and the future within the works of Nicola Vinci, Gabriela Elena David, Marcello Gobbi, Liu Bolin and Giorgio Tentolini.

The trace, the shade and the mark, these are all signs of past experiences, stories that were said and events that left behind the proof of the human being, objects and places.

Behind the formal aspect, the artists Angela Corti, Alexandra Muresan, Francesco Arecco and Marcello de Angelis unravel the man's continuous strugle to rearange the world of visible and invisible, trying to reproduce it in agrement with the preexisting models of time and space.

The principle of genesis playes an important role in the artistic research on the abstract dimension of space in the works of the artists Sabina Elena Dragomir and Mihai Vrabies.

Therefor new signs and paths of authentic pictural experiences are born.

The methaphisycal dimensions of times and genesis ar being inovated through the abstract shapes and primordial ideas, in the image' symbolistic in the works of Maurizio Galimberti, Franco Fontana, Silvia Inselvini and Mimmo Iacapino.

From the desire of trully contribue to the cultural development of a generation, IAGA Contemporary Art Gallery chooses to create not only an exhibition, but an important moment of reflexion the meaning of today's world of promoting and contemporary art's collecting, choosing to collaborate with artists and institutions with true sensitivity and desire in creating dialogues between different national and international cultures and languages.

Selecția propusă pentru spațiul Muzelului de Artă din Cluj-Napoca reunește lucrări ale unei generații cât se poate de actuale de artiști care s-au afirmat, prin proiectele lor, în spațiile galeriei IAGA. Munca fiecărui autor reprezintă o succesiune de etape marcante de-a lungul parcursului creator. În cadrul acestui proiect expozițional, timpul reprezintă un element-cheie în desfășurarea operei, iar sub acest aspect decalajele legate de stil și manierele de lucru sunt vizibile. Generația actuală, reunită prin varietatea de opere în această formă de expunere, pornește de pe diferite paliere ale formării artistice, provenind, în același timp, din diferite zone culturale. Autorii abordează medii de lucru, concepte și forme diverse, iar toate aceste lucruri se exprimă ca fenomene substituite unor procese imaginative cu totul particulare.

Noțiunea de timp se referă, în egală măsură, la durata procesului de definitivare al operei, în căutarea unui mesaj propriu și al inițierii unui demers cum este cel de introspecție sau cel de materializare a ideii în obiectul artistic. Sculptura, pictura, fotografia, arta sticlei sau alte procedee mixte de reprezentare au un filon comun, cel în care ia amploare o geneză a corpurilor – în sens uman, abstract și obiectual; artistul are rolul de a construi o lume unică de fiecare dată, prin atitudinea adeseori critică, alteori empatică , folosind propria viziune integratoare. În ceea ce privește realitatea obiectivă, aceasta este trecută prin filtrul reprezentărilor stilistice care ne permit să străbatem dincolo de ceea ce se poate observa în mod convențional.

The proposed selection for the space of the Art Museum in ClujNapoca is reuniting the artworks of a generation of artists as current as possible that have affirmed themselves, through their projects, in the spaces of IAGA Gallery.

The work of each author represents a sequence of outstanding steps throughout the creative process. Within this exhibition project, time represents the key-element in the artwork development, and in this respect differences related to style and manner of work are visible. Current generation, reunited through the artwork variety in this form of exposure, is based on different levels of artistic training, coming, at the same time, from different cultural zones. The Authors address diverse work mediums, concepts and shapes, and all this things are being expressed as substitute phenomena to imaginative processes totally particular.

The time notion refers, equally, to the duration of the completion of the work, in the search of an own message and of initiation of a process of introspection or the one of materializing and idea into an artistic object. Sculpture, painting, photography, the art of glass or other mixed ways of representation, they all have a common vein, one in which grows a genesis of bodies – in a human sense, abstract and objectual; the artist has the role to build each time a unique world, through sometimes critical attitude, sometimes empathetic, using their own integrative vision. Regarding the objective reality, it is passed through the filter of stylistic representations that allow us to across beyond what can be observed in a conventional way.

Silvia Inselvini surprinde în obiectele sale o anume dramă în interiorul obiectului, în sensul că procesul de creație ia forma unui travaliu care generează urme ale trecerii ireversibile a omului în decursul vieții. Semnificația gestului și a obiectelor de același fel, care își caută expresia în elementele ritualurilor străvechi, în ciclul unitar al vieții, în memoria trecerii și a trăirii, mecanismul laborios pe care îl încearcă omul pe tot parcursul actului de creație – toate acestea se dezvăluie ca indicii ale regăsirii, în registrul subconștient, a unui timp imemorial.

Operele performative și fotografice ale lui Liu Bolin sau Nicola Vinci propun un parcurs narativ al prezenței umane într-un univers simbolic, folosind motivul dedublărilor și pe cel al convențiilor care se stabilesc, atât într-un cadrul social, cât ți în spațiul personal. Rolul omului și al operelor sale nu este unul întâmplător; acțiunile și gândurile se întrepătrund, marcând calea firească a oricărui destin. Liu Bolin abordează tema iluziilor provocate, „transportându-și” personajele în jocul ascunderilor și a aparițiilor neașteptate. El descrie astfel povestea anxietăților trăite în societatea umană contemporană. Într-un alt plan, Nicola Vinci decrie povești nespuse ale copilăriilor pierdute și ale unor vieți care-și trăiesc refugiul în clipe suspendate. În cazul celor doi artiști, fotografia pare a fi un stadiu decisiv în cadrul procesului de documentare asupra studiului unor grupuri cu o anume apartenență socială sau a unor individualități.

Nostalgia trecerii în timp și afirmarea unor semnificații date realității au loc prin procedee de decontextualizare sau de recuperare a unor scheme deja concepute. Franco Fontana surprinde, în tema instantaneelor fotografice, compoziții complexe, aproape abstracte. Redarea unor elemente obișnuite, a unor obiecte și forme aflate în starea lor originară, spune povestea trecerii timpului și valorifică, dintr-o perspectivă estetizantă, calitatea cromatică și potențialul grafic-pictural al acestor reprezentări. Asfaltul este, în speță, un material care reflectă o stare de artificiu, o stare care expune etapele propriei uzuri fizice, dar și pe cea a detaliilor texturate, a culorilor și a varietății unor structuri compoziționale autonome.

Silvia Inselvini captures in its objects a certain drama within the object, in the sense that the creative process takes the form of labor that generates traces of the irreversible transition of a human being in its lifetime. The gesture signification and of the objects of the same kind, that are seeking expression in the elements of the ancient rituals, in the unitary cycle of life, in the memory of passing and of living, the laborious mechanism that man tries out throughout the act of creation – all these unfold as hints of retrieval, in the subconscious register, of a immemorial time.

The performative and photographic works of Liu Bolin or Nicola Vinci propose a narrative journey of the human presence in a symbolic universe, using the motif of duplication and the one of convention that are established, both in a social setting, and in a personal one. The man's role and the one of its works are coincidental; its actions and its thoughts are intertwining, marking the natural way of any destiny. Liu Bolin approaches the provoked illusion theme, “transporting its” characters in the game of hiding and unexpected appearances. Thus he describes the story of the anxieties lived in the human contemporary society. In another plan, Nicola Vinci describes untold stories of lost childhoods and of some lives that live their refuges in suspended instants. In the case of these two artists, photography seems to be a decisive stage in the process of documentation on the study of some groups with a certain social appurtenance or of some individuality.

Time passing nostalgia and the assertion of some meanings given to reality take place through processes of decontextualization or recovery of some already designed scheme. Franco Fontana captures, in the theme of photographical instances, complex compositions, almost abstract. Rendering of some common elements, of some objects and forms that are in their original state, tells the story of the passing time and enhances, from an aestheticized perspective, the chromatic quality and the graphicpictorial potential of these representations. The asphalt is, basically, a material that reflects a state of artifice, a state that exposes the stages of its own physical wear, but also the one of textured details, of colors and of the variety of some autonomous compositional structures.

Maurizio Galimberti se lasă sedus de motivele preexistente în arta postbelică italiană, folosind elemente deja consacrate ale avangaredei, cum sunt cele prezente în opera lui Lucio Fontana sau Enrico Castellani. Artistul recontextualizează astfel spațiul oprelor de artă, folosindu-le ca simboluri-arhetip pentru readymade, în măsură să genereze concepte pentru un nou ciclu de reprezentare. Lucrările astfel realizate sunt parte unei serii în care Maurizio Galimberti expune propria pasiune pentru fotografiile pe Polaroid în contextele pe care el le numește „de afecțiune”.

Marmura Angelei Corti pare să capete atribute specific umane.

Sculpturile sale sunt adevărate hiperbole care mimează creșteri, descreșteri și intensități ale unor forțe care-și trăiesc mișcările într-un registru abstract. În schimb, lemnul folosit în sculptura lui Francesco Arecco își dezvăluie potețialul organic prin prezența sa totemică. Prelucrarea aceluiași material organic pare să degenereze, prin contrast, într-un obiect căruia îi este uitată adevărata esență, sau îi este deturnat întregul potențial esteticfuncțional. Lemnul astfel „devitalizat” devine un exponat a cărui prețiozitate se substituie fenomenului de producție în serie , o formă minimalizată a cărei atribut este de a „absorbi” în interiorul ei intensitatea golurilor spațiale. Într-un alt plan și dintr-o perspectivă mult mai idealistă, trecerea timpului reprezintă un germene al transformărilor, al împlinirilor, dincolo de materia brută. Natura discretă a sticlei răzbește în mod „tactil” printre structurile rigide, ajungând în punctul în care forma își transcede propria delimitare în spațiu. Mișcarea și imanența devin una și aceeași stare e fapt în lucrările Alexandrei Mureșan, pentru care visele năruite reprezintă o tema ambivalentă: geneza acestora are o dublă descendență, una provenită din inconșient, cealaltă din exigența împlinirii de sine.

Maurizio Galimberti is being seduced by the preexisting motifs of the Italian postwar art, using already consecrated elements of the avant-garde, like the ones present in the work of Lucio Fontana or Enrico Castellani. Thus the artist recontextualizes the artworks space, using them as symbols-archetypes for the ready-made, able to generate concepts for a new cycle of representations. Thus the completed works are part of a series in which Maurizio Galimberti exposes his own passion for Polaroid photography in the contexts that he names “of affection”.

Angela Corti's marble seems to gain human specific attributes.

Her sculptures are real hyperbolas that mimic growth, decreases and intensities of some forces that live their own movements in an abstract range. Instead, the wood used in his sculptures by Francesco Arecco unveils its organic potential through its totemic presence. The processing of this organic material seems to degenerate, through contrast, into an object to which its true essence is forgotten, or its entire esthetic-functional potential is diverted. The wood thus “devitalized” becomes an exhibit whose preciousness substitutes itself to the phenomena of serial production, a minimized form whose attribute is to “absorb” in its interior the intensity of the empty spaces.

In another plan and from a more idealistic perspective, the passing of time represents a germ of transformations, of accomplishments, beyond the raw material. The discreet nature of the glass makes way in a “tactile” manner among the rigid structures, getting to the point where shape transcends its own delimitation in space. It's a fact that movement and inertia become one and the same state in the works of Alexandra Muresan, for which shattered dreams represent an ambivalent theme: their genesis has a double lineage, one coming from the unconscious, the other from the exigence of self-fulfillment.

Marcello de Angelis atribuie în pictura sa un suflu dinamic, plin de vigoare, unor figuri ce se organizează, în mod simetric, într-un spațiul virtual, eminamente astral. Dincolo de perfecționarea unui limbaj sau de ordonarea geometrică în deschiderea cercurilor sau ale presupuselor aripi, dar și printr-o surprinzătoare economie de mijloace, în operă se configurează entități ce poartă încărcătura simbolică a unor spații celeste.

Un alt joc, cel al suprafețelor contexturate, este proiectat în lucrările lui Mimmo Iacopino. Artistul imaginează rețele colorate într-o dinamică spațială construită în relația dintre plin și gol, două dimensiuni care la rândul lor realizează iluzia trecerii formelor între o apariție plană și una trisimensională. Juxtapunerile și suprapunerile liniare se organizează în suprafețe pe cît de simple, pe atât de dinamice, în ritmuri complexe și în contraste vii, revigorante.

Forma pe care principiul genezei o propune în reprezentarea nonfigurativă constituie o temă de cercetare în pictură. Sabina Dragomir propune un univers fragmentat, în care memoria, figura umană și obiectul transfigurat au un exponent comun în procesul de dematerializare a formelor. Conținutul se evidențiază astfel prin inițierea unei serii de experiențe picturale care lasă loc aventurii propriilor trăiri într-un parcurs cronologic, pe drumul recunoașterii de sine.

Mihai Vrăbieș imortalizează în pictura sa momente ale genezei elementelor, făcând totuși abstracție de fazele stabile de aregare ale acestora. Autorul surprinde faze intermediare ale aglomerărilor de materie și o mișcare a particulelor care variază de la o stare la alta, în ideea desprinderii din existența lor imponderabilă.

Marcello de Angelis attributes in its painting a dynamic breath, full of vigor, to some figures that organize themselves, symmetrical, in a virtual space, eminently astral. Beyond improving a language or geometrical ordering in circles' opening or the alleged wings, but also through a surprising economy of means, in the artwork are configured entities that bear the symbolic charge of celestial spaces.

Another game, the one of connected surfaces, it's projected in the works of Mimmo Iacopino. The artist imagine colored networks in a spatial dynamic built in relation between full and empty, two dimensions which in turn realize the illusion of the forms transitioning between a flat appearance and a tridimensional one.

The linear juxtapositions and overlaps organizes in surfaces as simple, as dynamic, in complex rhythms and live contrasts, refreshing.

The shape that the principle of genesis is proposing in the nonfigurative representation constitutes a topic of research in painting.

Sabina Dragomir proposes a fragmented universe, in which the memory, the human figure and the transfigured object have a common exponent in the process dematerialization of the shapes.

Thus the content stands out through the initiation of a series of pictorial experiences that leave space for the adventure of their own experiences in a chronological way, on the road to self-recognition.

Mihai Vrăbieș immortalizes in his painting moments of elements' genesis, also making abstraction of their stable fazes of aggregation. The author catches the intermediate fazes of the agglomerations of matter and a movement of the particles that variates from a state to another, in the idea of separation from their imponderable existence.

În pictura Gabrielei Elena David, figurativul este marcat de intensificarea gesticii în redarea detaliilor corporale umane. Fără a fi privat de încărcătura profund erotică, nudul feminin este un motiv pentru revitalizarea unui limbaj expresiv care face trimitere la esența naturii și la mișcare - un stadiu predilect pe care artista îl aprofundează în procesul pictural de redare al formelor vii.

Reinventarea acestui corp reprezintă o adevărată provocare în plan creativ, fiind orientată înspre nevoia de cunoaștere și de trasfigurare a unor anumite tipologii. Cert este că acestea se abat de la idealurile deja clasicizate în materie de etalon al frumuseții, făcând abstracție și de prezentele stereotipii estetizate.

Sculptura – instalație pe care o expune Marcello Gobbi poartă forma neoclasică a imaginii naturii umane, înzestrată cu puterea de „a renaște” din propria înfățișare. Forma statuară „se comunică” în încercarea de a stabili un raport vital cu dinamica în care este reprezentată. Există o dublă tranziție în redarea personajului, dintr-un registru real într-unul virtual, și din nou într-o ipostază care propune realul - iar de această dată asistăm la realizarea interpretativă a unui profil psihologizat pe care autorul îl suprapune clasicei apariții sculpturale.

Giorgio Tentolini animă figura umană, reprezentând-o în ipostaze diferite de mișcare. Dimensiunea spațială a figurilor, fie că este vorba de ansamblu sau detalii, se supune unui joc al perspectivei și luminii care însoțește poziția obiectivă a privitorului. Suprapunerea în planuri a materialului, procedeele vectorizate care sunt transpuse în materialul brut și decupajele care survin în abordarea tehnică subliniază decalajele monocrome ce fac diferența dintre lumini și umbre. Întreaga creație se constituie ca un proces laborios, în căutarea unor valențe picturale în realitatea celor trei dimensiuni, dar și ca o perfecționare la nivel conceptual a unor sinteze figurative cu un puternic impact vizual.

In the paintings of Gabriela Elena David, the figurative is marked by the intensification of the gesture in the reproduction of the human corporal details. Without being deprived of the profoundly erotic charge, the feminine nude it's a motif for revitalization of an expressive language that refers to the essence of nature and movement - a favorite stage that the artist fathoms in the pictorial process of expressing living shapes. The reinvention of a body represents a true challenge in the creative plan, being oriented towards the need for knowledge and of transfiguration of some typologies. It is sure that they deviate from the ideals already classicized in the matter of the beauty norm, also leaving aside the existing aestheticized stereotypes.

The sculpture-installation that Marcello Gobbi is presenting wears the neoclassic form of the image of human nature, endowed with the power of “a rebirth” from its own ashes. The statuary form “communicate itself” in trying to establish a vital relation with the dynamic in which it is represented. There is a double transition in expressing the character, from areal into a virtual register, and again into a state that proposes the real – and this time we are assisting to the interpretative realization of a psychologized profile that the author is overlapping to the classical sculptural appearance.

Giorgio Tentolini animates the human figure, representing it in different movement hypostases. The spatial dimension of figures, even if it's about the ensemble or the details, submits to a game of perspective and light that accompanies the objective position of the viewer. The material overlapping in plans, the vectored processes that are being transposed in raw material and the cutouts that occur in the technical approach emphasizes the monochromatic gaps that make the difference between lights and shades. Whole creation constitutes itself as a laborious process, in the search of some pictorial valences in the reality of the three dimensions, and also as an improvement at a conceptual level of some figurative synthesis with a powerful visual impact.
