SKINOVATION: Skincare Product Ideation for Acne
SKINOVATION: Skincare Product Ideation for Acne Treatment and Prevention
Undoubtedly, skincare is considered a ‘must-have’ for many people, as these products are integrated into their daily routine as a necessity. However, one of the most common skin problems, acne, remains a challenge for skincare product developers. Acne is quite common among teenagers and young adults: it causes not only physical damage to the skin, but also causes long-lasting psychological effects. Although a large variety of acne care products are available, yet the effectiveness has been limited due to the complexity of acne pathophysiology. This April, i3L’s Biomedicine and Pharmacy study programs launched SKINOVATION a skincare product ideation competition with the theme of “Acne Treatment and Prevention”. This competition is open to i3L students from all study programs and cohorts with the goal to design skincare products to treat and prevent acne, and further develop a prototype. For this first competition, we limit the definition of skincare to topical products only and we encourage students to use natural ingredients in their products.
