While growing up, my dad experienced serious eye complications which ultimately left him blind. In my quest to find a cure, They entered the field of optometry and started DeĂ­Cordova Eyewear; named in honor of my father, Bernard DeĂ­Cordova Coombs.

For 30 years, the University of Houston Conrad Hilton Building has been shamelessly holding itself back from trending, opening the doors for more opportunity and setting the tone for Houstonians in the hospitality industry.

After spending last years budget of $1.4 million dollars; U of H exceeds the expectations of it’s Cougar faculty and student body with the launch of their new kitchen. The Texas Restaurant Association Cougar Chapter (TRACC) welcomed Chef Kenneth Hamilton as an Honorary Adjunct Professor; after being

open for only two months. Chef Ken has offically paved the way for students in the hospitality industry by advancing their knowledge about food and their approach to costing food items. Students were each setup at the university’s new state of the art stations with camera visibility to not only butcher whole chicken and prep mise en place, but the students got to make an egg and lemon custard from scratch. It’s no wonder Chef Ken is driven; his southern swag with his passion for food is the ultimate combination for his ambiguity.

Chef Kenneth Hamilton Chef Ken is a 30 year old native Houstonian; who was once on the market, but now married to his life long friend and love since the second grade – Nissi Hamilton. In 2017, after Hurricane Harvey, Chef Ken turned down two tv offers to stay home and cook for 1 year for free for victims of the storm. Chef Ken has recently opened his first restaurant called Equally Yolked at their home in Southpark. It is an underground kitchen concept that mirrors a French brunch with a southern twist. The grand opening will be held on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019 in honor of his late grandmother who was also a chef. Chef Ken has cooked for Roger Clemens, Robert Horry, Lance McCuellers, Mattress Mack, Scott McClelland and Eddie B – just to name a few. It’s no wonder why Houston loves Chef Ken so much!

Cortni Hill Washington is a Houston native with a lifelong passion for relationships. She is happily married and serves a volunteer and mentor for young ladies in the areas of self esteem, college preparation and etiquette. She currently serves as a “dating coach� to women seeking tips and advice in relationships. Her message to every woman is based on her Success in Love equation: God + You= Wholeness/ Ready for Love. Cortni has worked in the pharmaceutical industry as an award winning sales professional for over 12 years. She graduated from the University of Houston- Downtown with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication Studies.

Crystal D. Hadnott, PhD is a 5’2” southern fashionista who has ran over 150 full and half marathons in pearls since October 2006 after being told she would never walk again without a cane—but that’s not all.

After a successful public policy career, she started a health and wellness business in 2011, founded a non profit for little girls (Pavement Princesses), published her memoir (The Finish Line Was Just The Start) as well as curated a movement (Rise & RUN).

Born to famed Trumpeter, the late Pat Williams, Sr., and former Jazz and R&B vocalist, Rita Benson, Patrick was saturated in a home where all musical styles were welcomed and appreciated. At an early age, he developed a love for listening to and playing all genres of music, which to date has made Patrick one of Houston’s most versatile and most sought after drummers. Patrick is one of Houston’s few percussionists who is both comfortable and confident in a multitude of styles, and as such, has regarded him as a reputable mentor, teacher, and consultant to many upcoming young drummers, not only locally, but nationally as well.
