Meet your Governor Hi Key Clubbers! My name is Charles Schneider, and I am the Governor for the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District for Key Club International. I am a junior at Peoria Heights High School in Peoria Heights, Illinois. I am involved in golf, playing piano, student council, and most importantly, Key Club. I am so excited to work with everyone this year, and as Governor, the individual clubs and members will always be my priority. I want to be involved with clubs, and I want to ensure that they all have everything they need to thrive and grow. That is why I am here. I have already visited a few clubs to volunteer or speak at their events, projects, and meetings, and I would love to be invited to more.
I made a bold promise when running for Governor. I told the delegates of the 67th annual District Convention that my district was going to revolutionize the way we look at Key Club. I plan to hold true to this promise. No longer will the struggling club be forgotten. No longer will the resources and example of the clubs that are excelling be ignored. Finally, no longer will we accept things the way that they are and fail to see room for constant improvement. This year, we are not only a district. We are a family, one that is on a grand mission of improving our district and improving our world. I have seen the passion of our districtâ€&#x;s Key Clubbers. It has fueled me to want to lead us to a better tomorrow. Together, we will do just that. Through communication and inspiration, we will lift service hours to heights before unseen, we will fundraise vast amounts to help those in need, and we will unite under the fundamental idea that we can make a difference. Thank you all for your dedication to service and Key Club, and I look forward to serving as your 2017-2018 District Governor.

Meet your Secretary Hello Key Clubbers! My name is Ben Lennartz and I am your District Secretary for the coming year. I look forward to working more personally with the clubs as well as to connect the entire I-I district, from the Executive Board to the club members. My term is about you. Everything I do for the next 11 months is oriented on you, the club members, as you all make Key Club what it is. You are the beating heart of this organization, serving personally and donating your time to others for no benefit to yourself. My specific goals for my terms are to contact each club personally twice-before and after summer. I also plan to ensure connections between all members of the district by keeping the master roster up to date and always accessible, promoting interclub and K-fam service projects and events. Finally, I plan to be there for every and all club members, as a leader, a secretary, and a friend. I want any and all to feel comfortable approaching me for help, whether it be about contacting another key clubber or if you have any problem you need help with. I will be there for all key clubbers for anything they might need, at any time, beyond my 1 year term. Along with my own goals, I plan to assist Governor Charles with all of his own goals throughout the year. Together, we plan to keep the board organized, thus keeping the entire district organized and running like a well-oiled machine. Through organization, productivity, and consistent outreach, we plan to make this year the best year the Illinois-Eastern Iowa district has ever seen in terms of service hours, membership, and caring.

Meet your Statistical Secretary Hey I-I! I'm Alex Marshall, and I am now serving as the District Statistical Secretary. I started out Key Club freshman year. It quickly grew into something much more than a club to me. I served one year as my clubs president before I served on the 20162017 District Board as lieutenant governor of division 12. I decided to run for Statistical Secretary because of my successful term as an LTG. Now I am looking forward to serving the District on a larger scale. Meet your Treasurer Hello fellow Key Clubbers!
I am Aimee Hepperlen, your 2017-2018 District Treasurer. I am a junior at Marian Central Catholic High School. I hope everyone had as much fun at DCLC as I did! I am so glad I got the experience to meet people who have the same passion for service as I do. I am honored to be a part of this wonderful organization and to serve in my home, school, and community through the key clubâ€&#x;s name. I cannot thank the I-I District Key Clubbers enough for electing me as treasurer of our district. My main goals for my upcoming term include: posting the yearly budget on the website so all key clubbers can see where their dues are going, increasing the amount of clubs who turn in early bird dues through effective communication, and creating fun and worthwhile fundraisers. I believe that through honesty, communication, and responsibility, we will have an extremely productive and fun year! Meet your Editor Hey I-I Key Clubbers! I hope you all had as much fun at DCLC 2017 as I did! I am so pleased to be able to serve a second term as your District Editor. Thank you all for your support! (I‟m on the right in the picture, by the way.) This year I would like to fulfill my campaign promise to make editor a more widely utilized position. If you think your club may be interested, feel free to contact me with questions and I‟d be glad to answer them. This year I also plan to send out newsletter templates for clubs to use to make their job easier and make sure that they are using the graphic standards. The service that our district does also continues to blow my mind! Please share all of your awesome service project ideas with me so I can share them with the district and help make them more widely known. Let‟s spread the service! Meet your Lieutenant Governors Division 1 – Nia Robinson
Hello everyone! My name is Nia Robinson and I am super excited to a Lieutenant Governor in our amazing district. I love pizza, tacos, and of course, Key Club! My favorite movie is Remember the Titans and I constantly go to the movies. Fun fact? I have been on 4 of the 5 top roller coasters in America! I am excited to bring my skills to this District and I can't wait to meet more people in my division. Divison 7 – Tyler Sanchez Hi! My name is Tyler Sanchez and I am a freshman at Adlai E. Stevenson High School. I am so excited to be the Lieutenant Governor for Division 7. Service is something that I'm truly passionate about, and plan to do it for the rest of my life. My favorite experience would probably going to a dance for adults with disabilities. It was really fun to see all of their excited faces, and how they can put a smile on your face as well! Besides Key Club, I am in a couple of other extracurriculars. I play the euphonium in my school band, where I serve as a class representative. I was also a part of Future Business Leaders of America and Pass on the Beat (a club where you play music for service). I also played Football in the fall and I'm currently in Allied Soccer. Although I'm in a lot of extracurriculars, in my free time (when I have it) I like to take my dogs on walks, hang out with my friends at Starbucks, and practice my euphonium. I hope to meet everyone eventually, and I can't wait for a great year of service!

Division 8 – Melina Colucci
Hi, My name is Melina Colucci and I am the Lieutenant Governer of District 8. I'm currently a sophomore at Lake Park High School. This year is my first year in Key Club, I also have been involved with Student Council. I have played on varsity volleyball at my school since freshman year and I also play club volleyball- along with two years of track and five years of club track. Even though I'm involved in many things, Key Club is taking the role as my first priority. I'm very excited to serve you all and serve our community! With the help of all of you, we can make this year great.
Division 9 – Grace Tulley Hello, Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Key Clubbers! My name is Grace Tulley and I am the Lieutenant Governor for Division 9. Division 9 covers clubs in the western Chicagoland area, including my home club, Wheaton North High School. Besides Key Club, I am involved in speech team, theatre, Youth and Government, freshmen mentoring, Girl Scouts and Relay For Life.
I am beyond excited to serve on the district board this year, as I am so passionate about this organization. Key Club has been the best part of my life since joining my freshman year. I began my Key Club experience by serving on the Key Club Week committee my freshmen year, club secretary my sophomore year and club president just this past year. I am looking forward to forming friendships with all of you that extend outside our Key Club duties. I can't wait to meet you at a Fall Leadership Rally, Divisional Council Meeting or other event soon!

Division 10 – Sara Wheat
Hey everyone, my name is Sara Wheat and I am the Lieutenant Governor for Division 10. I am currently 17 years old and I am a junior at Batavia High School. Besides being extremely involved in Key Club, I play softball all year round, I am a member of two honors societies, and I work in my schools Peer Leadership Program. Over my summers, I l spend most of my remaining time hiking, swimming or traveling as much as I possibly can . It will be great meeting as many of you as possible this upcoming year and I can‟t wait to see what this term has in store for us!
Division 11 – Moira Pearcy
Hello there everyone! My name is Moira Pearcy, and I'm the Division 11 LTG! This is my second year in Key Club and second year as a board member! My first year I was Vice President of my school's club! I am also involved with Student Council, and Warriors buddies. A few fun facts about me are that I love dogs, I‟m a huge travel enthusiast, and I love pizza! (pretty basic I know) Besides those I love Key Club and I'm so grateful to be able to serve on the I-I board this year. Key Club has given me so many wonderful opportunities and I can't wait to continue serving through this organization! (: (P.S. I‟m in the middle)

Division 12 – Tyler Swanson
Hello! My name is Tyler Swanson and I am a sophomore from Pecatonica High School. I am the new Lieutenant Governor of Division 12 of Key Club District. I joined Key Club my freshman year and since then I have helped my club by creating and serving as the chairman of multiple service projects and being appointed member representative of my club. I am incredibly excited for my upcoming term as LTG and I hope to do great things with the help of the members in my division. Here's to a great year!
Division 13 – Kathleen Rock
Hello my name is Kathleen Rock and I am a Junior at Byron High School and the current Lieutenant Governor for Division 13. In addition to being a Lieutenant Governor and President of Key Club, I am the President of Student Council, Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council Chair, NHS member, class officer, Principal Advisory Group President, and varsity soccer and golf athlete. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching House of Cards, and debating political and foreign policies. I am very excited to serve as a Lieutenant Governor this school year and I am eager to fulfill all of the responsibilities of my office with zeal and integrity.

Division 14 – Claire Thornburg
Hello I-I District Key Clubbers! My name is Claire Thornburg (I‟m on the left) and I am a junior at Sycamore High School. This year I will be serving as lieutenant governor of division 14. Along with my involvement in key club, I'm also in chamber orchestra, national honors society, film club, and French club. Key club has always come above everything else for me, starting at elementary level as recorder for my schools k-kids. My main goals this year include having all three of my clubs get dues and monthly report forms in on time, and it'd be wonderful to have members from each club attend the 2018 DCLC! I can't wait to meet everyone and serve alongside you guys.
Division 15 – Jenna Meehan
Hello I-I Key Clubbers, My name is Jenna Meehan and I am so excited serve you on the district board this year! I am the incoming Lieutenant Governor of Division 15, serving the Dubuque- Area‟s Key Clubs. I am currently a sophomore at Dubuque Senior High School and before becoming Lieutenant Governor, I served as my club‟s Public Relations Chair/ Editor. In addition to Key Club, I also write for my school newspaper, am a Student Ambassador, participate in Model United Nations and World Language Club. I met many of you at DCLC this year, and hope to continue to meet all of you during my time in the I-I District! I am honored to be serving with such an outstanding group of young leaders and I hope to contribute to the success of my division and district in any way that I can this year!

Division 16 – Julia So
Hi there! My name is Julia So and I am currently a junior at Muscatine High School. I recently moved to Iowa from Pennsylvania, and although the prospect of having to leave the place I had called home for so long was terrifying at first, I quickly found a home in Key Club and made friends who shared my passion for volunteering and service. I am also involved with National Honor Society and am the Co-President of Science Club. Some of my other interests include drawing and acting. You can spot me in Muscatine High School's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie as Miss Flannery. I'm excited to serve Division 16 and can't wait to see what the next year holds for us!
Division 20E – Brooke McCormick Hello I-I District! My name is Brooke McCormick, and I am proud to be serving you as your 2017-2018 District 20 East Lieutenant Govenor. I am currently a sophomore at Metamora Township High School, and I have been involved in Key Club since I was a freshman. Some other activities I'm involved in at my school are yearbook, student council, medical careers club, the fall play, and I am a varsity swimmer. Outside of school, I am actively involved in my community, and I competitively swim. I am so excited to be on the District Board this year, and I can't wait to see what the year has in store in me! I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you throughout my term!

Division 20W – Kali Moreno
H Key Clubbers! My name is Kali Moreno. I am a sophomore at Richwoods high school, and I participate in many after school activities- those being two years of volleyball, one year of soccer and yearbook. Key Club means the most to me! I joined Key Club my freshmen year and it has provided me with warm smiles and I was surrounded by people that loved to do what I loved to do. Serve! This is my second year and I have served as a secretary for my club, and now as Lieutenant Governor of division 20W. I am so happy to be serving you on the 20172018 district board. I look forward to an amazing year of service!
Division 21 – Hannah Darbo My name is Hannah Darbo and I am the Lieutenant Governor for Division 21. I am a sophomore at Plainfield Central and when I'm not volunteering or at school you can find me ordering absurd amounts of food at Chick-filA, listening to music or hiking the vast mountains of good ol' Illinois. This past year was actually my first year in Key Club so I am still learning the ins and outs of not just our division, but Key Club in general. That being said, I am definitely not new to the concept of service! In the past I have had the opportunity to serve with organizations like Compassion International and spend my summers working as a volunteer staff member at a camp. As a new LTG, some of my main goals have shifted alittle after taking office. I quickly realized that since my division is so large, we should use our size and close proximity to each other to our advantage. Division 22N – Christi Wang Hi Key Clubbers! I'm Christi Wang (I‟m on the right), a sophomore from Normal Community High School. This year, I have the honor of serving as the LTG for Division 22N. I hope to meet people from the different key clubs and build a strong connection with the district level and local clubs. Since I've joined Key Club freshman year, I have learned a lot about leadership and service to others. Along with Key Club, I'm a part of the speech team, FBLA, student council, class board, National Honor Society, scholastic bowl, NIOS club, and the track team. Even though I'm in a lot of activities, being Key Club LTG is my number one priority! I love what this club is all about and hope to spread its ideals to everything I do. I'm really excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work to create something amazing with all of you. Let's make this year a great one!
Division 22S – Elaine Brown
Hi Key Clubbers! My name is Elaine Brown and I am a junior from Heyworth High School. (I'm on the left) This year I will be serving as LTG for Division 22S. I have been in key club since freshman year and have served as Vice President and President of my home club. Along with key club, I'm also involved in cheerleading, student council, National Honors Society, Spanish club, and I serve as my class Vice President. Even though I'm in a lot of activities, key club is my number one priority and will continue to be! One of my main goals for this year is to get three of the six clubs in my division to come to 2018 DCLC. Hello Illinois Eastern Iowa District! My name is Amanda Pohrte and I‟m super excited to be serving as the Lieutenant Governor for Division 23! I‟m currently a junior at Lincoln Way East High School. I am a part of my schools‟ theater department, scholastic bowl, mathletes, AFJROTC, and, most importantly, Key Club. I‟ve had an amazing few years working in my club and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to serve on the district board and meet tons of new key clubbers! I look forward to an amazing year full of service and friendship!
Division 24 – Ashton Stipp
Hello I-I District! My name is Ashton Stipp, and this year I‟ll be serving on the district board as the lieutenant governor for Division 24! My division is made up of four clubs: Marquette Academy, Streator High School, LaSalle-Peru High School, and Woodland High School. I am a sophomore at Woodland, and I‟m involved in a few other activities in my school and community such as Student Council, Operation Snowball, 4-H, Ambassadors, National Honor Society, Yearbook Committee, and Illini Summer Academy Planning Committee. But when I‟m not at the school, I‟m probably participating in service projects, helping with our 4-H cloverbuds, or working. This year as lieutenant governor, I have many high hopes for my division; my goals include building and reactivating clubs, raising money for our service partners, and helping the clubs in Division 24 to excel! I‟d just like to personally welcome you all to a new year in the IllinoisEastern Iowa District of Key Club International, and I hope that this year is full of success for your clubs! Division 25/27 – Angela Xu
Hello there! The name is Angela Xu and I'm from Centennial High School, division 25/27. I love to play tennis, but I have absolutely no stamina. In my free time I draw and play the piano, right now I'm learning songs from La La Land. I love penguins and dogs, hate coconut and grapefruit, and I watch more SpongeBob than the average 8 year old. I've got amazing and fun plans for the future. My main goal is to connect with every member on a personal level. I want to get to know everyone during my term, I'm a very big people's person, and I want you all to have the time of your lives. Only after a connection is made, can a strong key club be formed. I look forward to leading my district to great things and becoming your friend.
Division 26 – Mikayla Prevo
Hi everyone! My name is Mikayla Prevo, and I will be serving as this year's Lieutenant Governor for Division 26. I attend Mattoon High School in Mattoon, Illinois. Outside of Key Club, I am junior Vice President of my school's National Honor Society, on Prom Committee, a member of Student Council, and I run cross country and track (cross country being my favorite). Although I am heavily involved, Key Club is my first priority. When I'm not volunteering, you can find me listening to The Lumineers, hanging out with my dog, watching hockey, or going to get ice cream with my friends. I am beyond excited to serve as Division 26's LTG and to be a part of the District Board! Thank you all for this opportunity!

Division 28/29 – Sujay Someshwar
My name is Sujay Someshwar and I am the lieutenant governor for division 28/29 and I am a junior at Glenwood High school. My biggest goal for my term is to make sure that we have more interaction between clubs and the district. There are a couple of clubs that don't turn in their forms in on time and I want to make it my job to interact more with all of the clubs and get a good communication started between all of us. Really I am here to learn more about being a leader and being a strong member of my community like everyone else. I can't wait to lead and serve!
Division 30 – Kim Haguewood
Hello I-I District! My name is Kim Haguewood and I am so excited to be the Division 30 Lieutenant Governor for the 2017-2018 year! I am currently a junior at Belleville West High School, and I am involved with choir, theater, National Honors Society, and most importantly, Key Club!! Outside of school I play select softball and do lots of photography. Ever since my freshman year, I have been heavily involved with Key Club, serving as a representative, statistical secretary, and editor, and giving more than 100 hours each year. It has amazed me just how wonderful and inclusive Key Club can be, and how everyone comes together as a community for service! It is truly aweinspiring to see the work that the I-I district has put in to making this world a better place, and I am truly honored to be on the district board! I cannot wait to see where this year takes us and to become a friend and mentor to so many of you this year!

Division 31/34 – Sydney Stauffer
Hi! My name is Sydney Stauffer and I am currently a sophomore at Governor French Academy in Belleville, IL. I am the lieutenant governor of Division 31/34. I joined key club my freshman year and then was elected as the president of my club the following year. Aside from key club, I am a part of my school's Winterfest Committee, Yearbook Staff, and Noise for Nana club. Outside of school I am active in church, play volleyball, and competitively swim. I am very excited for my upcoming term as LTG! I love to lead and help people so, this position seemed perfect! I hope all the lieutenant governors and I serve the Illinois and Eastern-Iowa well and enjoy every moment of our term!
Division 33/36 – Maxwell Hoem
Hello everyone, My name is Maxwell Thomas Hoem and I am the soon to be Lieutenant Governor of Division 33/36. I enjoy many aspects of my life on top of Key Club, including reading, science, and kicking field goals for our football team. I have been very lucky to have worked under so many great people in my Key Club “career”, especially Mr. Bob Hall, Murphysboro Key Club‟s current president and previous LTG Ethan Cook, and my previous LTG Jessica Stein; and I look forward to working with all of you in this coming year. A Message from I-I’s Circle K District Governor Hello I-I Key Clubbers! My name is Austin Ives, and I am the 2017-18 IllinoisEastern Iowa Circle K Governor. What is Circle K? Well, other than that convenience store that you may have heard of, it is also the name of the best service organization at the college level ever! (In my opinion…) I am hoping that, throughout this term, Circle K clubs and Key Clubs can work together more than ever before. Our district board recently completed our board training at what we affectionately call “Church Camp” in Oregon, Illinois. We had the pleasure of having your Governor, Charles, visit us during our board meeting. It was great to hear everything you all are up to! I would like to personally invite you all to our District Kiwanis Family Picnic in Ottowa, Illinois at the Kiwanis Park on Saturday, July 22nd. It‟ll be a fun time to hang out and do a service project with other Key Clubbers, CKI members, Kiwanians, and other Kiwanis Family members! If there are any Class of 2017 graduates reading this, please contact me if you are interested in continuing your journey in the Kiwanis Family by joining a CKI club in college! Even if your college doesn‟t have a club, we can provide you the resources to start your own. I personally chartered a club at my school and it‟s really not that difficult! At My First DClC‌ I was scared for DCLC this year because it was my first time ever going and I did not know what to expect or if I would have fun. Once I got there and I finally started talking to some people out of the small group I went with, I felt a lot better. Everyone was so friendly and they helped me see that there was no reason to be scared. I started to open up and actually have a lot of fun. At my first forum, I thought that all we were going to do is sit there and not interact very much. I was wrong, we ended up playing soulmate. While we were doing that, I finally met someone new. He was standing right next to me so I figured I would introduce myself. I was afraid but I knew that if I did not do it, I never would. It helped me realize I needed to open up more and be myself.
Throughout the next few days, I made more memories that I would hold onto for the rest of my life. I got to hear how key club changed other peopleâ€&#x;s lives like it has mine. Throughout all the sessions and hearing other people talk, it made me start to want to share my story and how key club changed my life last year. I hope I get a chance at next year's DCLC to do so. Those people on the stage inspired me and it makes me want to start working harder so one day I might get to do what they are doing. Overall, DCLC was a life changing experience for me. I got to meet a bunch of great people and hear their stories about DCLC. I know that I definitely want to go back next year! Sylvia Davis Waverly Key Club Division 28/29

Club Spotlight Retirement Home Visits Plainfield Central Key Club Division 21 Article Submitted by: Aiko Sinio, Club President
Our Key Club is currently volunteering at the Heritage Woods Retirement home in order to provide social interaction for the residents there, as well as create a bond between the young and old in the community. While the members are there, they not only communicate with the residents, but members also hold events that let both the residents and members communicate as equals. In the past, the Plainfield Central Key Club would help host a “fishing trip� during which residents would fish from their rooms in order to catch fake fish that were held by members below. More recently, Key Club has held events at the home during which members would talk to the residents about their lives, play cards with the residents, as well as help residents paint their nails. Both members and residents alike seem to enjoy the experience, with many Key Club members remembering the experience very fondly. Alexko Alvarado, a sophomore at Plainfield Central, had this to say: “When I first entered it felt ardent and when I spent time with the residents they were nice and happy. And looked to be enjoying us paint their nails. It's really just a really happy fun atmosphere to be in." Others, such as Plainfield Central senior Julia Romanowski, valued the time they took in getting to learn more about the residents, as well as taking the event as an opportunity to better herself: "It was really nice to be able to talk to them, especially about their lives in the home. I loved getting to know each and every one of them, and I loved seeing the quirks in their funny personalities. I felt really welcomed and it was so fulfilling to be able to do something for the people living there." This event has had a huge positive affect among everyone involved, and I would personally urge anyone who would like to better themselves to visit their nearby retirement home and get to know the residents.
