Where better to go on a Saturday evening with my best friend Rachel and daughter Sophia-May than for some traditional pub grub at e Meadow Inn. Nestled into the world heritage site, a short walk away from the historical Ironbridge. e first thing you notice about the Meadow is its ample parking, and lovely outdoor seated area packed full of diners enjoying the sunshine and dining alfresco. We were greeted with a very warm welcome by Pauline and team. We were led to our table in the garden room area by the big window with a fantastic view of the surrounding woodlands and offered drinks. A gin and tonic was more than suffice on this glorious summers evening.

e smell of delicious food filled the air and got our tummy’s rumbling. Gazing over the delightful menu, it was hard to choose. We decided to share a starter of Luxury Prawn Cocktail £5.95 luxury Greenland prawns, served on fresh salad topped with homemade Marie sauce and granary bread. e prawns were amazing and the bread was a delight, very satisfying starter. e menus offer a wide of choice of starters from; combos to share, homemade garlic bread, seasoned wedges, onion rings, mozzarella sticks and chicken goujouns, served with fresh garlic mayo, & salsa dips. For one £5.50 / For two £9.95.

On to the mains Rachel opted for Creamy Chicken Tagliatelle £10.95; pan fried chicken breast slices in mushroom, tarragon and smoked bacon cream sauce on a bed of tagliatelle pasta. is was divine the ingredients complimented each other so well. e sauce was delectable; she did not leave a morsel. As the Meadow Inn is renowned for its steaks I decided on Surf and Turf £16.95 8oz sirloin steak and garlic king prawns, with a side order of garlic bread. Cooked medium. e steak came out and was cooked to perfection and the king prawns were juicy and were a real hit. Crunchy chips, a lovely salad too. We were thoroughly enjoying our food here at the Meadow. Sophia-May chose off the children’s menu for smaller tummies under 12, 2 courses for £5.95 Breaded whole tail scampi served with a choice of

potatoes and vegetables peas beans or salad. e children’s menu has a great choice from; handmade battered fish goujons to melt in the middle meatballs and a pudding too for an extra 95p. Fantastic, value for money. Sophia-May thoroughly enjoyed her lovely scampi with chips and peas.

After a brief break, on to the puds. A blackboard to the table with a lovely selection of desserts to choose from; ice cream sundaes, sticky chocolate and orange cake, and spotted dick. We opted for chocolate fudge cake and icecream, the cake was outstanding and the ice-cream delicious with a honeycomb sauce.

When you think of Ironbridge, you think of an inspiring mix of tradition and innovation - when you think of steak - think of e Meadow Inn! Our dining experience at the Meadow was fantastic, lovely venue, attentive staff and delicious food. e steak was excellent definitely the best steak in town. 10/10 from e Hype magazine.

On a lovely summers evening after a very busy day in the office Luke and I were ready for something tasty to eat. We headed over to Rocco Restaurant based in the heart of Wolverhampton city centre. A spacious, well lit, inviting restaurant that seats 70 people and caters for all occasions with private dining downstairs. With fresh flowers and lovely set tables, this restaurant has a lovely home from home feel.

We received a very warm welcome by Rocco himself and his wonderful staff and seated at a pretty candlelit table for two.

With the sound of Italian music and the aroma of food in the air, we could not wait to see the menu.

We were handed the menus and offered drinks. As it was a work night we stuck to water and a refreshing lemonade but if you fancied something different there is a variety of soft drinks, beers, wines, spirits and even champagne for that special occasion.

We decided to try out Rocco’s set menu which is available Monday-Saturday 12pm-2:30PM & Monday-ursday 5PM-6:30PM. 1 Course £7.95, 2 Course £9.95, 3 Course £12.95. e set menu offers lovely selection of food; Starters from Zuppa Della Casa- Soup of the day to Pate Della Casa – served with toasted bread. Luke opted for Insalata Caprice – Buffalo Mozzarella, sweet tomatoes drizzled with a balsamic and olive oil vinaigrette salad. e tomatoes were juicy and fresh, the mozzarella a delight combined with the vinaigrette salad this truly was a delicious starter.

Overall a delightful evening with attentive friend well-dressed staff, that couldn’t do enough for you. e food was delightful and the team did an excellent job.

12 Eating Out

I opted for the Bruschetta Romano – Toasted Ciabatta with plum tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and fresh basil. is was the perfect starter for me; all of the ingredients truly complimented each other so well. We gazed around the restaurant, it was bustling with families and couples alike enjoying the atmosphere and of course the lovely food on offer at Rocco Restaurant. I have to say the staff are great; so friendly and attentive. ey can’t do enough for you and they are dressed very smart indeed.

On to the mains, with choices for the set menu such as traditional spaghetti bolognaise; spaghetti with a rich sauce of minced beef, garlic, shallots oregano and basil to Lasagne Al Forno; layers of pasta in a rich bolognaise sauce, Parmesan, béchamel topped with Mozzarella. Luke chose the Fettuccine Con Pollo E Spinach – Flat pasta with a roasted chicken, baby spinach, baby plum tomatoes, shallots, white wine, creamy parmesan sauce. A delightful Italian dish, creamy, rich and delicious. My choice was

Cannelloni Con Ricotta E Spianch (V) - Tubes of pasta filled with ricotta mascarpone cheese, baby spinach topped with mozzarella, cream and tomato sauce. A decadent dish, infused with flavour with a side order of Spinach with Lemon and garlic. is worked well with my chosen dish.

After a brief break, on to the desserts, Luke chose homemade Tiramisu, a rich classic Italian dish full of flavour. He thoroughly enjoyed this treat. I just had to have the Homemade cheesecake, smooth & delicious vanilla cheesecake with a crunchy biscuit base, served on its own or with cream. Delightful and tasty.

Rocco have a main menu of many tantalising dishes including Anti Pasta, Manzo Con Rosmarino, Pan fried sirloin, with olive oil, shallots, demi glaze, rosemary, red wine reduction, Calamari Fritti; baby Squid coated in a tempura batter, deep fried, served with a touch of caper mayonnaise, on a bed of rocket salad and Panna Cotta; an exceptionally, light & luxurious vanilla cream dessert with a layer of soft caramel on top £3.95. e main menu had a fabulous choice with numerous dishes to suit every taste. Rocco Italian restaurant can cater for any occasions including corporate events. ey even have a champagne bar too!!

Overall a delightful evening with attentive friend welldressed staff, that couldn’t do enough for you. e food was delightful and the team did an excellent job. Well done from e Hype magazine.

Community-owned Shropshire Dining Pub shortlisted for prestigious National Award...

e Pheasant at Neenton, rescued by the local community after 9 years closed and now one of Shropshire’s leading dining pubs with rooms, has been shortlisted as a National Finalist for the Great British Pub Awards – the equivalent of the ‘Oscars’ for UK pubs.

Telford Film Festival...

NEW FILM FESTIVAL LAUNCHED AS PART OF TELFORD’S 50TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Telford & Wrekin Council and Flatpack Projects have today announced the programme for the 1st edition of Telford Film Festival, taking place from 14 September to 31 October 2018. This brand-new film festival, part of the year-long celebrations for Telford’s 50th birthday, will treat audiences to a jam-packed month of screenings and special events in venues all over Telford.

Highlights of Telford Film Festival 2018 include:

• Legendary silent comedian Buster Keaton in the classic comedy THE CAMERAMAN (14 September, 7.00pm, All Saints Church), presented in partnership with Wellington Orbit and featuring live musical accompaniment from pianist Meg Morley.

• Poet and novelist Mary Webb is perhaps Shropshire’s most famous daughter, and Gorge Film Club will be paying homage to Webb with a screening of Powell & Pressburger’s GONE TO EARTH (17 September, 7.30pm, Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge Community Centre), a gorgeous adaptation of her 1917 novel about a woman choosing between two admirers.

• Enjoy a trip down memory lane with the TELFORD ON FILM (22 September, drop in all-day, Ironbridge Gorge Museum) a celebration of the town using newly digitised film from the Media Archive for Central England - from coracles on the Severn to the world famous cast-iron bridge plus a nostalgic visit from football legend Billy Wright.

• RAF Museum Cosford will play host to two spectacular screenings as part of their outdoor film season - the seventh instalment of the epic Star Wars franchise STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS (21 September, 6.00pm, RAF Cosford) and the Tom Cruise 80s thrill-ride TOP GUN (22 September, 6.00pm, RAF Cosford).

• Cineworld Telford will screen an eclectic mix of features - the iconic

Studio Ghibli family classic MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO (23 September, 2.00pm), a special preview of SKATE KITCHEN (24 September, 6.15pm) an atmospheric tale of female skaters in New York City, the cult-classic THE BIG LEBOWSKI preceded by a 90s-themed movie quiz (1 October, 6.30pm) and the Kubrick masterpiece 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (8 October, 7.30pm) digitally remastered for its fiftieth anniversary this year.

• Two engaging archive films that glimpse into Telford’s past - A SPLENDID PLACE TO LIVE and THE NEW LIFE (23 September, 4.30pm, Dawley Town Hall) will screen ahead of a brand-new documentary TELFORD NEW TOWN: DREAM & REALITIES (23 September, 6.00pm, Dawley Town Hall) from director Nick Boy that looks at the remarkable urban planning project that began in the 1960s.

• Telford Stream Railway will provide a fitting location for Kenneth Branagh’s MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (29 September, 3.00pm), kicking off with a wine-tasting session on board a vintage train before the feature presentation at nearby Horsehay Village Hall.

• Fancy dress is absolutely encouraged for BARBARA NICE PRESENTS THE SOUND OF MUSIC (9 October, 7.00pm, Oakengates Theatre @ The Place) when Midlands legend Barbara Nice (aka stand-up comic Janice Connolly) hosts a screening of the Julie Andrews classic, supported by Shropshire Rainbow Film Festival.

• The festival will round off with one of the most compelling and entertaining zombie films ever made, DAWN OF THE DEAD (20 October, 8.30pm, Telford Centre) screening in the shopping centre in the dead of night and a Halloween screening of James Cameron’s nail-biting blockbuster ALIENS (31 October, 8.00pm, The Wakes).

Telford Film Festival is the result of a collaboration between Telford & Wrekin Council and Flatpack Projects (the team behind Birmingham’s Flatpack Film Festival) and is part of BFI Film Hub Midlands’ mission to develop film culture across the region.

Shropshire's Rainbow Film Festival celebrates a big 13th year by bringing exciting international LGBTQ+ cinema to the heart of historic Shrewsbury. The festival focusses on nuanced depictions of sexuality and brings our audience into conversation with filmmakers, their art and the community, all in the warm and friendly setting of the heritage listed Old Market Hall Cinema & Cafe/Bar.

Our Closing Night film is Mario, this Swiss film tackles homophobia in league football and the difficult choices two rising stars must make between their budding relationship and their own authenticity or pursuing a chance to play football professionally.

Both actors took out top honours for their performances in the 2018 Swiss film awards.

Entertain, Educate, Challenge & Change...

The festival's opening film is the sweeping and sexy, true story of Professor Marston and the Wonder Woman. Marston, a psychology professor, enters into a taboo breaking polyamourous sexual relationship with his wife and their young assistant, a relationship that leads to the creation of DC's hit comic: Wonder Woman.

We have the Academy Award winning A Fantastic Woman (Best Foreign Film- 2018), a moving drama from Chile about a transgender woman (played by transgender actor, Daniela Vega) who in mourning her lover's sudden death, finds herself under invasive scrutiny from his family and the police, who suspect her of murder.

There's a strong focus in this year's programme on the depiction of older lesbians with the double bill of the internationally awarded Canadian short film, Marguerite, and from USA, the emotional Snapshots- when an old, undeveloped roll of film resurfaces, three

Current social issues are tackled in both A Moment in the Reeds, an intimate relationship drama between a Finnish man and a Syrian refugee, and In Between, following three Palestinian women sharing an apartment in Tel Aviv and fighting to define themselves against the oppressive expectations of their community and families.

In addition to our seven great features we have UK and International short film programmes showcasing some of the most interesting international Queer shorts from the last year. As always, the audience will be able to vote for their favourites of the festival. We will also be hosting Q&A conversations with some of our filmmakers and we have a fun lecture on A Romp Through Classic Camp.

Dazzling Diwali - e Festival of Lights... e Indian festival of light will take place on Saturday 20th October 2018 in Phoenix Park in Blakenhall, Wolverhampton.

One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, it spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Its celebration includes millions of lights shining on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings in the communities and countries where it is observed. e festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a four to six day period. e City of Wolverhampton Council has teamed up with the Shri Krishna Mandir and other organisations for the annual Diwali Mela on Saturday 20th October from 4pm to 9pm. It will feature music and dance, guest performers, dancers and entertainers, culminating in a spectacular firework display as the lights are switched in the evening. ere will also be a wide range of stalls and refreshments.

Wonderland in Telford is holding a Halloween Extravaganza. You can dress up for Halloween and play Trick or Treat around the Haunted Halloween Trail, collecting spooky gifts as you go! Due to the popularity of this event it is a bookings only event, so make sure you book your

If you are feeling brave you could check out the Ghost Tours at e Dana Prison in Shrewsbury. It’s one of Shropshire’s most haunted sites, where restless spirits still tread. Once inside you’ll experience the strange silence that fills the grounds, the damp walls carrying only the faintest echo of the trains passing through the station next to the main road that you’ve left behind. With the scene set, you’ll descend into the depths of the Prison – and listen in horror to its dark and sinister side.

Torture. Murder. Hangings. You’ll be gripped by the true tales that lie hidden behind the walls of HMP Shrewsbury.

Watch out for a cold breath on the back of the neck, a whisper, a flicker – then silence.

It’s all the more chilling for being absolutely real: but a word of warning!

Make in Minutes...

Gin is enjoying a revival and is now more popular than ever. So which are the best gin cocktails to make, to take it to another level altogether? No fancy equipment required, you can even use a jam jar as a shaker! As a general rule use about 50ml of gin per cocktail unless stated otherwise in a recipe. If you are also using a liqueur too, you might want to use slightly less gin, maybe dropping it back to 40ml gin and make up the other 10ml with the liqueur. For the very best results use fresh citrus juices, and balance it out 20ml to 15ml of sugar syrup that’s been made from equal parts sugar and water.

THE BRAMBLE Short and Fragrant. You'll Need: 40ml Gin 20ml Sugar Syrup 20ml Lemon Juice 10ml Crème De Mure Berries Or Lemon Zest for garnish

You'll need: 25ml Gin 25ml Vermouth 25ml Campari 1 Orange TO MAKE - Pour the gin, vermouth and Campari into a glass over ice. Stir it down to your preferred taste. en, zest the orange with true Italian flair over the glass and add the citrus to the potion.

ELDERFLOWER COLLINS Fresh and fruity. You can buy elderflower cordial from most big supermarkets.

You'll need: 50ml Gin 20ml Lemon 10ml Sugar Syrup 10ml Elderflower Cordial and Soda to finish TO MAKE - Shake the gin with the lemon, sugar and a dash of elderflower cordial. Pour over rock ice and lengthen with sparkling water. Decorate with a sprig of your favourite herb. If you’re feeling like a twist to this then top with sparkling wine instead of water to make an Elderflower Royale.

Roasted Garlic Beetroot Soup

Ingredients • 500 G Beetroot Chopped Into Chunks • 1 Bulb Garlic Chopped In Half • 1 Large Potato, Chopped Into Chunks • 1 Large Carrot Cut Into Quarters • 1 Onion Cut Into Quarters • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil • 1 Ltr Vegetable Stock • Pinch Black Pepper & Pinch Salt • 4 Tbsp Creme Fraiche

Method

Preheat the oven to 200C. Put all the vegetables on a large baking tray and coat in the oil. Roast in the oven for 45-60 minutes until the vegetables are cooked. Put the vegetables in a saucepan along with the stock. Heat to boiling and then simmer for 10 minutes.Blend with a stick blender and serve each portion topped with a spoonful of yoghurt.

Method Preheat the oven to 220C (Gas Mark 6) In a large bowl combine olive oil, thyme, rosemary, garlic, and salt and pepper; mix until well blended. Add the vegetables to the bowl and toss well, ensuring it is all well coated.

Take a large roasting pan and line with greaseproof paper.

Tip the vegetables in to the pan and roast for 30 minutes. *For a tasty twist add some grated mozzarella cheese and roast for 5 minutes more.

A black country girl who loves to read.

I have never heard of Catherine Isaac until my favourite author, Paige Toon, posted a picture of her book on Twitter recommending everyone to read it. If Paige loves it, then I was sure I would so when I saw I could request a copy on NetGallery, I knew I had to.

You, Me, Everything’s opening chapter sees Lucy in the hospital, about to give birth to her first child while her partner Adam is nowhere to be seen. She calls her mother who helps her through the birth, while Adam misses it completely.

Fast forward ten years, you see Jess trying to keep her promise to her ill mother, that she will attempt to rebuild the relationship between her useless ex Adam for the sake of their son William. Lucy has struggled to forgive Adam for missing their son’s birth, and for moving away to France when she needed him most.

She is angry at him for not having a stronger relationship with their son and for having to raise William as a single mother. But now she has a secret, one that will affect Adam and William and she knows she must follow through on her mother’s wish. is story is so beautifully written and will have you hooked from the very first page. Lucy is the perfect main character. She is intelligent, strong, a little feisty but fiercely protective of her family. She is a

wonderful mother to William and you can see how much she adores him, and he her.

I loved the relationship between Lucy and her mother. It was beautiful to read and at times heartbreaking. You see, Lucy’s mom has Huntington’s disease, something that is currently incurable and terminal. You follow Lucy on her journey as she struggles to accept her mother’s condition, while also wondering whether she too carries the gene.

I didn’t particularly warm to Adam as the romantic lead. I think it’s obvious how his and Lucy’s relationship will develop, but I still struggled with how easily forgiven her was. I think Lucy should have taken more time to build their relationship, rather than jumping straight back in where they left off.

You, Me, Everything is a truly wonderful story that will have you laughing one minute, and reaching for the tissues the next. It’s a tale of family, friendships, love and heartache and was difficult to put down.

I read this book in one sitting and I know others would do the same. I rate this book four out of five stars and I know I will definitely be looking out for other books from this incredible author. e book is out now and I would really encourage you all to go buy a copy now.

My name is Kim and I am local fitness instructor in & around Telford. Dance & fitness is a passion of mine. Having not being the most confident person suffering from an anxiety/panic disorder from a young age, fitness is always something I can turn to make me feel better and many others will agree & feel the same after completing a class, that sense of achievement and feeling of euphoria is a magical thing. Sometimes the hardest part is making the first step but once that's done you won't look back!

Fitness classes shouldn't be a chore, they should be enjoyable, which is why we create a fun & uplifting atmosphere in a dimmed/darkened room. I currently teach Clubbercise dance fitness which is all about the fun factor and gets a really good sweat up without you even realizing! I also teach Legs Bums Tums & Toning which is a low impact, all over the body toning class with many benefiting factors such as fat loss, sculpting & strengthening, posture improvements & flexibility. Both classes burn around 800-1000 calories if completed together!

It feels amazing to know that these classes help people achieve whatever goals they want, whether that be fat loss, fitness, stress busting, confidence or even just making new friends.

Beast From e East As you read this you will remember how just a few months ago a nation was gripped in the teeth of an icy blast. They even gave it a name. The Beast From The East. A horror movie title appropriate to a channel of chilly air sweeping in from Siberia with a bloodnipping mission to banish warmth from the face of the northern hemisphere. Remember it? The stuff of legend, of awestruck whispering around camp fires to a chorus of howling wolves in the surrounding forest. As a Yorkshireman put it. 'By gum. It were bitter!'

Forgive me if I chuckle. Allow me to explain. By an irony of fate, the advent of The Beast From The East coincided with the arrival on my drive of my very own beast - a mighty motor vehicle representing a marriage of felicitous convenience between the eastern promise Isuzu and the hard climate of Iceland and Scandinavia. Arctic Trucks - whose motto is 'Explore without limits' - is a company renowned for taking an already impressive base vehicle and beefing it up to the heroic proportions of myths. In this case turning a pick-up into a titan of load-carrying capability.

When submitting to the Isuzu D Max Arctic Trucks AT35, tough terrain simply trembles, cowering in submission beneath the type of grunt and grip seldom seen in the real world of rugged motoring.

Big wheels shod with massive 35inch all-terrain tyres supporting a big 'double cab' body, make mincemeat of off-road ops. This is the most robust and capable pick-up this side of Doomsday so it comes as no surprise that it is chosen by the Icelandic Rescue Services.

To say that the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35 is a big pick-up is to underplay its physical

presence. And remember, nothing is for show. This vehicle is for real: a bad-hauling titan conceived to shrug off terrible terrain with a disdainful, effortless expenditure of energy. It will tow 3.5 tonnes in a braked trailer thanks to the brilliant new 1.9 litre 164PS litre diesel and with 'shift-on-the-fly' available at the twist of a knob, there's two/four/low ratio four-wheel drive to tackle just about anywhere, disposing of any off-road challenge with the insouciance of a flaneur flicking aside a fly.

It's not just off-road where it scores either. On-road it is a very civilised, comfortable and cosy truck with leather upholstery and all the electronic gadgetry that you expect these days. Surprisingly you can cruise effortlessly and quietly at 80mph on motorways despite the huge tyres and there is power enough to reach 112mph if you are so disposed. As the blizzard descended I offered my services to the parish council who were anxious to open a temporary mountain shelter alongside the local artificial ski slope which had transformed into an avalanche in the waiting. This very real threat meant the evacuation of local shops and affordable homes and a corresponding need for temporary accommodation. Councillor Tierney charged me with transporting one tonne of groceries from the isolated shop to the mountain shelter.

Snow was drifting in the wild wind - but no worries. I engaged 4x4 drive and the mighty wheels began to rotate as this high and mighty Hercules parted mere snow as though it offered no more resistance than a computer generated image. Sub zero temperatures meant nothing. The AT35 responded to them with the eagerness of Hungry Horace attacking porridge. 'Give me more' it seemed to say as it crested snowdrifts in the manner of a lifeboat at sea. By now abandoned vehicles were everywhere waiting for the thaw when privately contracted tow-trucks would steal them away to the vehicle pound where chagrined owners would be forced to flash the plastic before reclaiming what was rightfully theirs. (This is not a made up story. It happened!).It was a sad day when the thaw came. With a return to normality I had to settle for being the biggest and the best pick-up around. No one dared mess with this D-Max: big muscle brooks no argument. So - as we entertain the prospect of increasing cells of extreme weather this is something to ponder.

As they say..'When the going gets tough, the tough get going'. So true of the D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35.

What is Lyme disease?

Lyme disease is a bacterial illness that affects humans and animals. The bacterium that causes Lyme disease, Borrelia burgdorferi, is transmitted through tick bites. Ticks themselves do not cause the disease but harbour and transmit the bacteria that cause it.

Once a tick is attached it takes 24-48hrs to transmit the bacteria that cause the disease so prompt identification and removal is key to preventing transmission.

Transmission is from tick to host only – the disease cannot be transmitted from dog to dog, or dog to human. However, walking dogs may make owners more likely to encounter tick infested areas, and sharing a common environment means that dogs may bring unattached ticks into the household.

Symptoms Some infected animals show no symptoms at all, others take weeks or months to develop clinical signs and these can fluctuate over time. Typical symptoms can include: - Fever - Lethargy - Loss of appetite - Joint swelling - Lameness

Recurrent ‘shifting leg lameness’, with joint swelling and tenderness migrating from one extremity to another over a period of days or weeks, is also a possibility.

Diagnosis Tests for Lyme disease in dogs do not always provide a definitive answer – dogs can produce antibodies against Borrelia indicating that they have had contact with the bacteria but are not necessarily

suffering with active disease. Due to the broad nature of symptoms, diagnosis is therefore usually made on a combination of assessment of clinical signs and test results to rule out other more common conditions.

Treatment An extended course of antibiotics provides effective treatment.

Prevention A vaccine is available for dogs – these appear to work best in dogs when given before exposure to the Lyme-causing bacteria. Speak with your vet about your pet’s suitability for the vaccine.

Dogs should be treated regularly with an effective tick preventative or tick repellent product. Your vet or veterinary nurse can recommend the most effective products for your pet’s lifestyle. Risk of transmission is highest when the ticks are actively seeking hosts in spring and autumn but ticks are active at any temperature above freezing so year round treatment and vigilance is important.

Dogs should be routinely checked for ticks after spending time outside and any attached ticks promptly removed. Tick hooks are available to purchase at our branches and are the best tool to use.

Tweezers or other methods risk leaving the mouthparts of the tick behind and other methods involving ‘suffocating’ the tick increase the risk of distressing the tick and causing it to regurgitate bacteria into the pet’s bloodstream.
