Hydralada Hydraulic oil specifications
The hydraulic oil for Hydralada must conform with two parameters as follows;
Lubricating properties
The oil must have a minimum Zinc content of 0.125% or 1250 ppm. This specification is seldom found in standard hydraulic oils, meaning it may be necessary to use a motor oil in the hydraulic system.
Viscosity
Use this chart to determine the correct hydraulic oil viscosity for your application, depending on the range of ambient temperatures you expect the machine to be operated in.
IMPORTANT
If the hydraulic fluid does not contain this level of Zinc, premature wear will develop on the mechanical components of the hydraulic wheel motors quite quickly. This wear will culminate in catastrophic failure of the motor drive train.
Notes:
• Your machine will have been supplied from the Hydralada assembly plant with one of these New Zealand Castrol products installed. A decal on the tank states the grade used.

• The bracketed values on the oil specification chart are the maximum permissible operating temperatures of each hydraulic fluid in degrees Celsius. Once the operating temperature of the oil in the reservoir moves out of these bracketed values the viscosity is no longer appropriate for the components in the system. The operating temperature of the hydraulic oil will vary as the result of several factors.
