Welcome Drea Osterbur We’re pleased to announce Andrea “Drea” Osterbur as our new Director of Community Ministry, Global Outreach & OTR Campus. In this new role, Drea will be responsible for executing the day-to-day operations, ministries, and partnerships for our Community Ministry, Global Outreach, & OTR Campus. Drea and her family have been active in Hyde Park Community UMC since 2018. Drea is married to Jake and they have two children, Josie (10) and Julia (7), a dog (Augie), and live in Madeira. Drea holds a B.A. from Augustana College in Illinois, where she studied sociology, social welfare, and music. In addition, she studied abroad throughout Latin America and even spent a year in Cuenca, Ecuador teaching English. While living in Athens, Ohio, Drea worked for Help Me Grow and the Hocking County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Drea also served as Interim In-Country Director of Montaña de Luz (Mountain of Light), a non-profit children's home and care center in El Paraíso, Honduras. After moving to Cincinnati, Drea was an Early Intervention Specialist for the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities, providing much-needed services to children from birth to age three in low-income and immigrant families.

Drea is active in the Intentional Parenting Group and both Drea and Jake are active members of the Cathedral Choir. Their family loves volunteering with our Super Serve Saturdays (especially at Meals on Wheels) and have been serving and
attending Vacation Bible School for years. Drea has also taken on several leadership roles within our church, including serving as a member of our Servant Leadership Board as Personnel Chair and a member of our Strategic Planning Committee. Drea says she is “very excited and humbled to be a part of the next steps in these ministry areas and to begin this new role,” and is thrilled to be joining the team for the HPCUMC September visit to Romania. She’ll join Pastor Kate and 15 other church members in a visit with our partners at the Way of Faith UMC in Cluj Nepoca, Romania. We are excited to have Drea join our staff to share her gifts and experience with us as we continue to “strive to embody the hope and love of Jesus for all through service, worship, and companionship”. Please join us in worship Sunday, August 16 as we officially welcome Drea to this new role.
