10 tips for laying perfect floors

1. Any flooring that has been purchased should be checked for defects before installation. This stops defective products being used. The guarantee may be invalidated if the floor covering is fitted anyway.

2. Only install on solid, non-floating base layers.

3. Do not fix objects (e. g. kitchen islands) onto the flooring - they should be secured directly onto the base layer.

4. Lay the floor around fixed objects (e.g. kitchen) and leave a gap of at least 8-10 mm for expansion.

5. Do not install the product immediately, but store it for at least 24 hours for SPC and 48 hours for vinyl flooring in the room where the installation is planned. This helps the floor covering to adapt to the temperature. 6. Always follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.

7. Buy the recommended footstep soundproofing for the floor. Carpet is NOT a permitted insulation.

8. Use spacers as you work so that the floor lies straight and does not slip during installation.

9. Keep the recommended offset of 30 cm to the joints in adjacent rows. This provides maximum stability for the connection.

10. Joints can be sealed using PE cord and silicone to prevent cracks from forming. To avoid complaints, it is recommended that if a joint has to be filled, it is important to ensure that a) silicone is used. b) the dimension of the joint is widened by 50%. and c) a joint cord is used to prevent the silicone from sticking to the base.

PROPERTIES

You can lay your own flooring at any time! You will find all of the essential tips and tricks in these installation instructions. You can also see which tools you need to lay your flooring. You will find easy-to-understand installation instructions further down. There are also some helpful pictures of the most important hand grips.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR LAYING FLOORING

The flooring may only be laid at room temperatures between von 13 °C and 32 °C. Please note the general requirements for the base layers before installation. Make sure that the product has been acclimatised at the specified room temperatures for 48 hours in the room where it will be laid. Extreme heat or cold may damage the locking system. Batch uniformity/defects: Wood is a natural product. For this reason, variations in colour and decor should be tolerated. Before laying, the flooring should be checked for batch uniformity, conformity with the sample material as well as for any defects. Any flooring that already shows visible defects (e.g. differences in colour or gloss level) before laying must not be installed.

CAUTION: The flooring has been designed exclusively for indoor use. Do not lay the flooring on existing carpets, foam underlays or in a sauna, in a solarium, in weekend homes and conservatories where there are large variations in temperature. The temperature difference (day/night) must not exceed 30 °C.

The flooring is a floating floor and must be able to expand and contract freely. Therefore, it should NOT be fixed to the base using screws, nails or glue. Assemble washbasins, kitchen furniture and island furniture on the base layer and then lay the flooring around these objects.

PLEASE NOTE: Wood reacts to air humidity. Please ensure even humidity between 35 % and 60 %.

LAYING THE FLOORING

1. Flooring should only be laid if it is free of faults

After unpacking, check the panels immediately for damage and defects (e.g. differences in colour or gloss level). Defective panels should not be installed.

2. Long end pieces

Measure the room before installing the flooring. The end pieces must be at least 5 cm wide on the long side.

3. Underlay mat

We recommend the use of an underlay mat for floors that do not have footstep sound insulation.

4. No tongues at the edge

Lay panels on the wall or around objects with the groove on the wall or object side. If necessary, you can simply cut them to size.

5. Sloping walls

Use a pencil and a leftover section to copy the shape of your wall to the panels. Cut them to fit exactly along the line you have drawn.

6. In the right angle

Insert the tongue of the panel you want to install into the groove of one that has already been laid at an angle of 10 to 15 degrees.

7. Follow the sequence

1: Click tongue into groove. 2: Push the short sides together. 3 and 4: Press panel down. 5: Tap down using a rubber mallet.

8. Check the edges

Check whether the panels that have been laid are correctly connected to each other at the edges and corners.

9. At least 30 cm of offset

The short edges (head joints) must always be offset by at least 30 cm from row to row.

10. Shorten end pieces

Mark the cutting edge with the angle of incidence at the desired position. Table saw: Decorated side upwards. Jigsaw: Underside upwards

11. Check the click connection

Check that the connection has clicked into place properly.

12. Sawn-off end pieces

If the end piece sawn off in the last row is 30 cm or longer, you can use this as the first panel in the next row.

13. Do not lay under objects

Start by placing your furniture in the room and then lay your better eco flooring around the objects - not underneath them.

14. Cut-outs for pipes

Diameter: 5 to 10 mm larger than the pipe. Mark, drill holes, saw out section at an angle (diagram) and position.

15. Shorten door frames

Place a leftover piece against the frame with the pattern facing downwards. This allows you to shorten them to match the installation height of the panels.

16. Remove spacers

You only need the spacers at the edge during installation. Remove these as soon as your better eco flooring is completely in place.

17. Clearance around objects

Make sure that there is a gap of 8 to 10 mm from your better eco flooring to walls and pillars in the room.

18. Laying pattern

You can lay your better eco flooring in regular (shown in the picture above left) and irregular patterns (above right).

19. Direct sunlight, temperature and air humidity The flooring must be protected from direct sunlight. The warranty will become invalid if the temperature is not within the recommended range. Please always keep the humidity within the recommended range.
