JACK O' LANTERNS

CARVINGS GALORE

Artists and volunteers alike come out in droves to create carved art for all to enjoy. Ladew provides inspiration, tools and pumpkins for those who want to join in the carving fun. Or the community is invited to donate a carved creation of their own.

EXQUISITE DETAIL

The level of detail in some of the carvings is a sight to be seen.

500 + PUMPKINS

A pumpkin patch of over 500 carved, glowing pumpkins is a recurring event highlight every year.

ARTISTS

SCOTT PENNINGTON

New to Garden Glow this year, Pennington's carnival-inspired, glowing installations brought virbrant color and interest to this year's event.

ANNIE HOWE PAPER CUTS

Howe's wildly popular, whimsical papercuts found a home in Ladew's greenhouse at Garden Glow this fall. Oversized, magical woodland creatures and foliage came alive with brightly colored lights.

MINA CHEON + GABRIEL KROIZ

Ladew Gardens welcomed the Cheon Kroiz Collaborative, a local artist-architect team, consisting of international artist and Maryland Institute College of Art Associate Dean of FYE Mina Cheon, and award-winning architect and Morgan State University professor Gabriel Kroiz. Their diamond installations have been exhibited around the world since 2007.

MOLLYE BENDELL

A wonderful new addition to Garden Glow this year, Bendell introduced Ladew to "augmented reality" by creating an installation of botanical engravings on edge lit lucite panels that "came alive" and "grew" when viewing the glowing etchings through a tablet.

KATHERINE FAYHE

has made a name for herself creating "crankies." Fayhe presents gorgeous vintage style puppet shows each night featuring different story lines appropriate for a variety of different age groups.

SAM SETHI + ANDY HOLTIN

An enhanced version of what the pair displayed in 2019, Sethi and Holtin's "Night Flight" brought a charming, delightful and lighthearted viewing experience to Garden Glow.

KYLE MILLER

Kyle's illuminated pendulum always an event favorite - leaves guests mesmerized as the orbs follow specific motion patterns.

LISA DILLIN

Dillin, also new to Garden Glow this year, called her installation "Commemoratory Fixtures." Dillin sought to call forth the familiarity of silence and awaken a sense of nostalgia for discarded sites we once dutifully tended to like the gardens that surround the work.

LAURE DRAGOUL

Baltimore artist Laure Dragoul continues to delight guests at Glow with works created from plasticsgently reminding us of their environmental impact.

PATRICIA BENNETT

Live event painter, Patricia Bennett painted her second outdoor "live" night time painting at Garden Glow this year. The piece was auctioned off to raise additional funds afterward the event.

JOANNE BARE

Local artist Joanne Bare historically carves pumpkins for us. This past year, the pumpkin she chose to carve was too tough to cut into so she painted one instead.

FAMILY FUN

LOCAL GOODNESS

Live music, eats and drinks finish off the event. The Ladew team works hard to find local vendors that provide our guests with deliciousness in addition to all the eye candy.

GLOWING ENTERTAINMENT

Magical, glowing stilt walkers, jugglers and hoola hoopers stroll the grounds throughout the evening.

DAN VAN ALLEN

Artist Dan Van Allen introduced a new large glowing puppet this year called "Mr. Fox."

CHARM CITY BLUEGRASS

Baltimore's premier bluegrass ensemble Charm City Bluegrass entertained visitors each night adding another dimension to the already festive mood.

In addition to the glowing art, music, food and drink, Ladew's Garden Glow provided educational opportunities for all ages. This year's Garden Glow featured screech owls and a "pet-able" possum who came to visit us from Irvine Nature Center. In addition to the guest appearances by the owl and possum, a cult favorite- Ryan the Bug Man- brought his popular glow in the dark insect specimens along with many others. Show here are some of his hundreds of butterflies.
