WHAT’S ON IN THE COMMUNITY

We had a very exciting visitor to Young at Heart, Andrew Blackman, The Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex. Mr Blackman had heard about our intergenerational program and chose to visit, to see us in action. We were also joined by representatives from Support with Confidence, our local GP Prescriber, Care for the Carers, Little Tinkers Nursery School who also support The Mens Sheds project and the Headmaster of Dallington School whose children joined us in the afternoon. Our guests joined us for lunch and then witnessed our Club members being paired up with children from Dallington Primary School to be heard to read and share their workbooks. Some of the children volunteered to read poetry they’d written on “The River”. Outstanding achievements for 7 & 8 yr olds. Their confidence and enthusiasm was infectious! A thoroughly enjoyable day had by all and in Mr Blackman’s words, “a real pleasure to see Young at Heart in action”. Nobody should be lonely.
