HUTTON FC

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hutton FC would like to say a big thank you to all our sponsors, managers and volunteers for their support this season so far.

C F N W O T W O L HAR The club was originally formed in 1879, playing its first match in October of that year It is one of the oldest clubs in the County of Essex. The club moved into the Spartan League in 1932 and were granted Senior Status in 1937, competing in the FA Cup and Essex Senior Cups for the first time. Harlow were moved into the London League in 1953. Six seasons were spent in the London League before a move into the Delphian League. In 1960 the club moved into the Sport centre ground in the new town, which was the clubs home for the next 46 years before moving to The Harlow Arena in September 2006. With the reorganisation of the amateur game in the early 1960’s Harlow found themselves playing in the newly formed Athenian League Division Two for the start of the 1963-64 season, winning promotion at the first attempt after finishing in third place. After eight seasons in Division One, Harlow finally won their first senior championship by winning the Athenian League Division One title. The following season saw the club finish fourth in the Premier Division before joining the Isthmian League for the start of the 1973-74 Season. Promotion was achieved six times, including lifting the Division One and Division Two (North) titles, whilst the club suffered five relegations and had to sit season 1992-93 out after severe financial problems threatened the club’s very existence. The Club made a name for itself in season 1979-80 with a terrific FA Cup run, which saw the club progress to the fourth round proper, having started out in the preliminary round. Wins against Lowestoft, Hornchurch, Bury Town, Harwich & Parkeston, Margate, Leytonstone-Ilford, Southend United and finally Leicester City, gave the club a fourth round tie away to Watford. The BBC “Match of the Day” cameras were at Vicarage Road as Harlow eventually bowed out of the competition, although they went down fighting, losing 4-3 to Graham Taylor’s side. In recent times the Club have got back on their feet following the problems of the early 1990’s. Having been relegated two divisions by the League for the season that the Club could not compete; the Club worked their way back to where they were before the enforced break. After a few near misses the “Hawks”, as they are now known, won back-to-back promotions from Division Three and Division Two of the Ryman League and after a poor first season back in Division One, managed to establish itself in the Division until the end of the 2003/2004 Season when the re-structuring of the nonleague game saw the club switch to the Southern League. The Hawks finished 15th in the Southern League Division 1 East League table in Season 2004/2005 and 9th in Season 2005/2006. The Club moved in September 2006 to a new ground at Barrows Farm and after awaiting clearance from the Ryman League to start playing at the new Stadium. A highly successful first term at Barrows Farm was complete when the Hawks gained promotion to the Premier Division of the Ryman Football League at the end of the season by clinching runners-up spot and then beating AFC Sudbury on penalties in the Division 1 North “Play-off” Final. The Club’s first season back in the Premier Division since 1984 was a struggle with an epic win at AFC Wimbledon securing a second season in the top division. Unfortunately, the club failed to maintain their Premier Division place the following season, returning to Division One North for the start of the 2009-10 season. The build up to the 2009-10 season was severely disrupted when on 21st July the Chairman resigned due to a change of ownership of the club. The manager followed along with the vast majority of the playing staff and various members of the backroom staff. After a very difficult start to the season new owners took control of the club in January 2010, with former manager Tommy Cunningham returning to the club with his business partner John Barnett. With so much turmoil the club finished bottom of the table but were reprieved from relegation due to another club having issues with their ground grading. There has been steady progress since the new owners took control. In the first full season the club reached the play-offs, only to lose 2-4 at Wingate Finchley in the semi-finals. During this season former player Danny Chapman was appointed manager and has since gone on to become the club’s longest serving manager. The season finished with another place in the play-offs. This time the club reached the final after a 3-0 win away to Heybridge Swifts. However, Witham Town were victorious, with a 3-0 win at Spa Road. At the start of the 2014/15 Harlow Town had a tightly contested league campaign, Harlow missed out the league title and automatic promotion by just 1 point, finishing behind Needham Market. Another appearance in the playoffs beckoned, but this time the Hawks fell down in the semi-final with a 3-4 defeat to Thurrock after extra time. The 2015/16 season saw Harlow Town promoted for the first time since 2007. Again, the club missed out on the top spot but secured wins against Gray Wanderers and then AFC Hornchurch to finally become winners of the play-offs. The Hawks return to the Premier Division had a touch of déjà vu as, after a successful first season back, the club struggled the following two seasons, before returning to Step 4 football at the end of the 2018-19. The club were placed into the Isthmian League South Central League for the start of the 2019-20 season, however, both the 2019-20 and 20-21 seasons were cut short as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. There was another change of leagues for the start of the 2021-22 season when the club were moved sideways into the Southern League Central Division. After resigning from The Southern League due to a pitch failure in December 2022 the club were moved to the Thurlow Nunn First Division South for the 23/24 season.

N O T T U H B U L C L L A B T O O F Hutton Football Club is an FA Charter Standard Community Football Club. Being part of our community is important to the Club. We expect everyone connected with the Club to be respectful, disciplined and responsible. Our young players will learn the game in a positive environment. Hutton FC is a Club, a team, a family not individuals. HUTTON FC HISTORY The club was founded in 1928 and has been prominent in local football since that time with cup winner’s medals dating back to 1932. A key factor in the continued success of Hutton Football Club is the progression of young, local players. The senior teams played in the Mid Essex League until 1989 when progression was made into the Essex Intermediate, now the Essex Olympian League. The Club expanded rapidly after 2005 with the merger of Hutton FC and Hutton Medway FC (established in 1969). The Club now has 70 teams based in our local community. The current club house has been at the Polo Fields for over 50 years, two previous buildings being destroyed by fire, and the second one having been struck by lightning. In 2010, the Clubhouse was vandalised and set on fire but has now been repaired and enhanced thanks to a large grant from Sport England. Recent history has seen more rapid developments at the club. The Football Association awarded Hutton FC with Charter Standard Community status which is the highest accreditation a club can achieve. In 2005, when the award was granted, there were only nine clubs in the whole of Essex with this status. The Club is very proud to have been awarded Community Club of the year twice by Essex County FA. The club has been encouraging girls to come and play for a number of years, and in 2005 the first official Hutton girls’ team was formed and since then, our Ladies 1st and reserve teams have been added to help with progression. The Club has been involved in a European Tournament played against professional clubs' youth teams, with outstanding facilities. The Clubs are; Saint Ingbert (Germany), Rumelange (Luxembourg) and Zandhoven (Belgium). The tournament celebrates its 50th year in 2025. Our senior men’s 1st team won the EOFL premier division 2022/23 season gaining promotion to the NLS, playing in the Thurlow Nunn League South. WHAT 'S SINGHY SAYING?

MATT SINGH, FIRST TEAM MANAGER Firstly it’s a big thanks to those who come over to support on boxing day. We set a record crowd of just over 200 which is unbelievable for a club who has just reached senior football. Another big thanks goes to Darren and the people in the background who organised. It was a good win for us over a side that can be difficult to play against. The early goal and sending off obviously helped but our boys made sure they took advantage of this, where at the start of the season that wasn’t the case. Our midfield 3 were very good and had a big impact on the game. It was also good to see Luke Ricketts return along with Harry Rawlins grabbing a goal on his debut. Today we welcome Harlow Town. I personally still feel that it’s crazy to say that and I am sure everyone who has been at Hutton for more than two seasons will agree. We will look to enjoy the occasion but also put in a good performance, which we proved in the first game of the season we are capable of. 2023 has been a year that will go down in history at our club. There have been some great memories made and we hope we can build on them in 2024. Happy New Year! Singhy

Hutton FC has one of the most established and respected girls sections in Essex. The section is comprised of a thriving Wildcats group for our newest female ballers and 11 teams ranging from Under 8s through to u18s. Our current Under 8s manager Stuart Hart has already taken one team through the age ranges to under 18 and is now starting again! Our girl's teams usually start playing in mixed leagues in the Brentwood Community Youth Football League before moving on to play in the Essex County Girls League. The overriding ethos for the section is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for our girls to enjoy their footballing journey, and to create lasting memories and friendships. As well as looking after teams within the section we also have 3 of our girl's section managers involved as Trustees of Hutton FC and as such the needs of our female players are reflected equally in all decisions made regarding the direction of the club. We currently have a number of openings for girls in years 6, 7 and 8 so are keen to welcome players either new to the sport or experienced. As the section has grown so too has our need for coaches and managers, so if you'd like to get involved don't hesitate to get in touch!

This is the Hutton Blacks U9, a team that came together over the summer, with the promise of developing as footballers, creating a competitive atmosphere that builds team spirit and most of all, making the one or two hours they spend together, the best one or two of their week. The team has developed hugely from the early training sessions. Those first training sessions in the glorious summer sun, were tarnished with, "what on earth have I gotten myself into", but that’s enthusiastic 8 year olds for you. The team has only improved and that enthusiasm is a strength of this team today. From a team that didn’t know each others names, each of the players has now established their individual roles both on and off the pitch. We’ve had a mixed bag of results, winning and losing in equal measure, forgive me for using cliche’s, but as a team the lads learnt more from their loses and each time come back stronger. This is a great bunch of players that have turned themselves into a team and have become better footballers as a result. Their individual qualities compliment the team. On downside they give me a headache each and every Sunday when I have to pick only 7 out of the full squad of 10 that turns up every Tuesday and Sunday. Special mentions go out to Steve Chisholm, who assists me with the running of the team and is a pretty good ref, Katie McCarthy for the half time oranges, Chloe Jardine who hasn’t missed the filming of a goal yet all season, Tony Ferizaj for the post match spread at The Rose in Shenfield, and Mario Allen for coaching at the start of the year and Elliot Warren from Compass who is now coaching the team. And to all the parents that support the team come rain or shine. None of this would be possible without any of those mentioned. And thank you of course to Austin Chisholm, Ayden Patel, Brodie Winton, Ed Eldridge, Freddie Jardine, Harry McCarthy, Luke Lilley, Louis Rogers, Rafa Ferizaj and Stan White for making this team what it is, The Hutton Blacks U9’s. Andrew (Max) McCarthy (Team Manager)
