This started with new Chairman John Tobin, and a newly appointed Director of Football Steve Dix Paul Gurney was first team manager, and it was a very tough season, coming close to relegation but finally finishing 15th in the league Season 2008/09 – a very turbulent season that put a strain on every aspect of our efforts to achieve our true potential But new First team manager Lee Judges still managed to hit a credible 14th league position and came in as runners up in the Premier Division Cup Season 2009/10 – the club saw new Chairman Gary Stock take up his position, who along with an almost completely new committee The majority of our youth teams had been moved and renamed in more than questionable circumstances under the the control of MHRML Chairman Steve Dix With derisory finances on handover in a recession year, this was without doubt one of the toughest starts to any season But the team somehow still matched the previous season ’ s 14th league position and were runners up in the Herts Charity Shield final Season 2011/12 – Our U18’s SCFYL team performed magnificently, winning their own division and then going on to beat Academy side Boreham Wood U18’s in the 4 team divisional final, to become overall League Champions Our 1st team finished 18th, whilst the reserves finished 3rd and won the Floodlit Cup Season 2011/12 – The club’s restructuring and regeneration program was complemented by the successful merger of John Warner Youth FC The First team finished 12th in the league and were Premier League Cup Finalists, while the Reserves were Finalists in the Floodlit Cup The Senior Club also achieved Chartered Standard, Season 2012/13 – The First Team had an exceptional season, finishing in 4th position in a very strong league First Team Manager Lee Judges and Assistant Manager Clive Brooks decided to step down at the end of the season Season 2014/15 – The first team finished 8th and the Reserves went on to win their South East division Season 2015/16 – John Barker is appointed to 1st Team Manager, joined by club legend Kaine Lovett appointed to Reserves/U25 Dev Manager A very tough 1st team season finishing 19th and the Reserves/U25 Dev a well-deserved 4th Season 2016/17 – Another very tough season for the 1st team finishing 20th Again, the U25 Dev under Kaine Lovett excel and finish 3rd in their league Season 2017/18 – We were one of the first clubs nationally to start publishing our match programme online Season 2018/19 – After 20 consecutive years in the SSML, the 1st team is moved to play in the Essex Senior League By choice our Reserves/Development team moves to the Herts County League Manager John Barker stepped down in late Sept to give priority to his family life, and Max Mitchell was appointed 1st team manager, finishing 7th while also reaching the final of the Gordon Brasted Trophy Unfortunately, fate struck again with 7 games to go, when Max moved to a step 4 club battling relegation With core players going with him, our season fizzled out Season 2019/20 – Covid-19 took centre stage! After yet another week off, we are looking forward to being back in action.
Our last game vs Dunmow was definitely set up for the supporters and not the management. After a strong start, we stupidly allowed them back into the game. Fortunately for us, we had a strong enough squad on the day to bring fresh legs on, who also managed to win us all three points.
Last Wednesday we played an inhouse game with Billericay u20s, which was very useful. Players like Tom Stephens managed to get some more minutes, as well as us being able to take a look at some more of their youngesters. Some you may even see today.
If todays game is anything like the last meeting between us and St Margs, it will be an exciting one for all. They have always proven a tough test and our last fixture proved that It took Sol to score a last minute winner, after us going down to 10 men early in the first half.
Finally, I wanted to thank Lawrence and Ray who have been leading the u23 side this season. Due to work commitments we have had to make a change in the set up, but it’s important that we recognise what a good job they done, considering it was a brand new side in the club.
Bish will now be taking them over for the rest of the season. As many know, he stepped away from the first team to train for the marathon. He and I saw this as a quick football fix and experience for him, before he returns to playing next season. Good luck to him and Ben who will be assisting him.
With only seven league games to go, I hope you enjoy todays game and please get behind the lads.

Our U11 Oranges came together four years ago playing 5-aside for a season before welcoming new players and moving up into 7 aside
The first year at 7 aside had some mixed results as the boys were finding their rhythm. The competitiveness of the league cup that year really inspired the them, where they made their way to the final after a few roller coaster penalty shootouts along the way. Unfortunately it wasn’t our year and lost 2-1 to a strong opposition. The cup journey was a fantastic experience for the team and one they will hopefully have fond memories of.
Moving up to 9aside this season they’ve faced new challenges by the introduction of offsides, foul throws and no retreating to the half way line. They have done extremely well in adapting to the changes and have hit a run of form at the end of 2024. This couldn’t have been more timely with the start of the competitive round robin trophy, where we currently sit at the top of the table with 3 out of 3 wins.
Hopefully the senior Tons can provide some inspiration for them to kick on for the rest of the season.
Sunday was a historic day for Hutton FC and their girls and ladies section as the First team took on Leyton Orient in the Adobe FA Cup 3rd round qualifier for a place in the 1st Round Proper awaiting the winners
Our Ladies First team managed by Darren Stacey and Luke Stone have had a good start to the season winning 4 of their 5 league games and beating Clapton and higher division opponents Enfield in previous Fa Cup rounds Leyton Orient came to Hannakins Farm Community Centre having recently acquired a major investment from a USA source into their womens section and boasting ex USA International striker Stephanie McCaffrey in their starting line up
With a crowd of over 150 people this contest kicked off and it was Hutton that started the more confident passing the ball around in midfield and only took 5 minutes when young right winger Holly Appleton, who only turned 18 the day before, was played through by a delightful ball by captain Abi Carke ,her speed allowing her to drive into the box and getting her shot away which was finely saved by the Orient keeper Hutton kept up the pressure and 5 minutes later opened the scoring when midfielder Millie Staceys ball clipped over the top of Orients defense saw striker Daisy Canny run on to and lob the goalkeeper from 25 yards ,1-0 Hutton
From then on it was Leyton Orient who settled the better team and although having more of the ball couldnt find a way through the hard tackling Hutton midfield or defence Orient had only two half chances the rest of the half untill the 43rd minute when a quality defence splitting pass saw McCaffrey run on into the box and just getting to the ball before the young 17 year old Hutton goalie Evie Carvell, quickly coming off her line was judged to have clipped the strikers right foot and a penalty was awarded The ex USA International calmy slotted away to make it 1-1 However almost immediately Hutton responded with the talented Lucy Critchell playing the ball out wide on the left to her sister Hayley to run on toHayley drove down the wing and cross to the ever present Canny who slotted in the far corner2-1 Hutton right on half time
The second half became a very scrappy midfield battle with either side being able to break down defencesNumerous times Orient tried to find McCaffreys skills but the combination of Kayleigh Franklin and Izzy Crichton marked her superblyAs the game went on Orient tried more ariel balls into the box yet the defence marshalled extremely well by Phoebe Keys and Molly Bowness heading presence kept Orient at bayWith 25 minutes left the management started to introduce much needed substitutes Charlotte Rutt,Isobel Boyd and Megan Gerrish to freshen up the embattled Hutton midfieldThis certainly done the trick as on the 80th minute after a brief spell of Hutton pressure a back pass from Orient allowed Canny (who used to play in Arsenal team with Ellen White) to tackle the keeper and steal the ball off her and slot into the net for her hatrick3-1 Ten minutes of constant high pressure in the Hutton box occured yet Carvell in goal and her defence stopped any clear cut chance by Orient to finally secure the historic win 3-1
Speaking after the game manager Darren Stacey said "The girls were all fantastic,we always feel like we can score,so we kept our defensive shape superbly and just battled away in midfield, taking many knocks but just kept at itHutton girls and Ladies section really has a buzz about it this seasonBehind the scenes for many years now hard work has been put in and now we finally have Flints Community Ground Open, girls teams all the way from little Wildcats to 3 ladies teamsWe had 5 teenagers on the pitch today which shows our active player pathway is working, its fantastic"
We are pleased to announce that our new ground, Flint’s Community Sports Hub was officially opened by the Mayor of Brentwood 13th July 2024. The opening event a successful youth tournament held over two days marked the occasion and we now continue to develop the site and look forward to seeing our youth teams coming together playing on this exceptional surface.
The Club would like to thank everyone involved and invite any persons or companies who may be interested in sponsorship opportunities or able to offer any further help developing the ground
