HUTTONFC VS. HODDESDON TOWN FC

P R O G R A MM E

Hoddesdon FC was founded on 14th April,1879, before changing the name to Hoddesdon Town FC in 190, and is one of the oldest Clubs in Hertfordshire.

They were Co- Founders of Hertfordshire FA in 1884 and were the first Winners of Herts Challenge Cup (Senior Cup) in 1887, a feat they repeated in 1887/88 and 1889/90

Over the Seasons the Club have played in several different Leagues as they made their journey through the football pyramid, enjoying both success and suffering disappointment in equal measure along the way

The Club’s most successful Season came in 1970-71 when playing in the Spartan League they achieved an unprecedented treble, winning the Spartan League Championship & Challenge Cup and Herts Charity Shield.

But this was to be eclipsed on Saturday 19th April 1975 when at Wembley Stadium they beat Epsom & Ewell 2-1 to become the first ever Winners of the FA Vase securing their place in FA History

At the end of Season 2022/23 the Club was relegated on the final day of the Season from the Essex Senior League Premier Division to The Thurlow Nunn Division1 South League.

Season 2023/24 started well for the Team winning its first two matches But there then followed an unprecedented series of five matches being postponed in the first two months of the Season This lack of matches and a never-ending list of injuries to players robbed the Team of any consistency and as the year ended, they were rock bottom of the League.

A fresh start in the New Year with the return to fitness of key Players and being able to play a settled squad saw the Team’s performances improve and the confidence from winning games saw the results improve and they finished a creditable tenth position in the League.

The improvement was boosted by good performances in the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy which saw them through to the Final where they beat Royston Town U23s in a dramatic penalty shout out

The Club has a thriving Youth Section which has 25 Teams and with changes to the Youth Team’s key Officers we have built a great relationship which sees them make use of Lowfield as their Home.

HUTTON FC HISTORY

The club was founded in 1928 and has been prominent in local football since that time with cup winner’s medals dating back to 1932. A key factor in the continued success of Hutton Football Club is the progression of young, local players. The senior teams played in the Mid Essex League until 1989 when progression was made into the Essex Intermediate, now the Essex Olympian League The Club expanded rapidly after 2005 with the merger of Hutton FC and Hutton Medway FC (established in 1969) The Club now has 70 teams based in our local community.

The current club house has been at the Polo Fields for over 50 years, two previous buildings being destroyed by fire, and the second one having been struck by lightning In 2010, the Clubhouse was vandalised and set on fire but has now been repaired and enhanced thanks to a large grant from Sport England.

Recent history has seen more rapid developments at the club The Football Association awarded Hutton FC with Charter Standard Community status which is the highest accreditation a club can achieve. In 2005, when the award was granted, there were only nine clubs in the whole of Essex with this status The Club is very proud to have been awarded Community Club of the year twice by Essex County FA The club has been encouraging girls to come and play for a number of years, and in 2005 the first official Hutton girls’ team was formed and since then, our Ladies 1st and reserve teams have been added to help with progression.

The Club has been involved in a European Tournament played against professional clubs' youth teams, with outstanding facilities. The Clubs are; Saint Ingbert (Germany), Rumelange (Luxembourg) and Zandhoven (Belgium). The tournament celebrates its 50th year in 2025 Our senior men’s 1st team won the EOFL premier division 2022/23 season gaining promotion to the NLS, playing in the Thurlow Nunn League South

T H E B O O T R O O M

Good evening, Tons family!

Thanks for turning up in your numbers tonight – your support means everything. We might have made hard work of it last time out, but we came home with three massive points in the bag – and that’s what counts!

The lads have been putting in a real shift in training, and you can see it starting to click on the pitch. We know there’s still more to come, and we’re hungry to keep improving every single week.

A big shout-out to Matt and everyone at Hutton for giving me this opportunity. I’m buzzing for the journey ahead – and make no mistake, I’m here to win. Promotion is the target.

It’s a bit surreal being in the dugout now, having had a great spell here as a Billericay player. This place holds great memories for me – and I’m determined to make more.

We’ve got a long road ahead, but just like I learned in my playing days: never get too high, never get too low – just keep pushing forward.

Let’s make tonight count and get those three points!

Up the Tons!

The U23s began their first league game with high energy and determination against last year’s league champions. It was competitive from the start, with both sides showing promise and attacking intent. After falling behind early, our side battled back with a solid performance until late in the game. Standout players included Borja, Nana, Zach, and JC, who was a constant threat on the wing and controlled the midfield with great composure.

The goals came from a well-worked team effort, while the backline stayed composed, limiting the opposition to few clear chances. Despite a late 3-2 defeat, it was a game we should have won comfortably. Overall, a promising start to the season, with the referee even complimenting our performance and style of football.

Our next game is Friday 15th August at Billericay Town, 7.45pm ko. It would be great to see some face over to support.
