The first record of football being played in Burnham dates back to 1895, with Burnham Ramblers FC formed in 1900
For 27 years the club used four different grounds before moving to Wick Road The ground was gradually improved and extended over the years and following success as a junior club, we gained intermediate status in 1960 The club then progressed further to gain senior status in 1985 Prior to 1985, Ramblers played in many competitions, taking several honours, including reaching the Essex Junior Cup Final on three occasions and the Essex Intermediate Cup Final in 1981, losing to Leytonstone & Ilford
The club’s greatest venture was completed when after years of preparation we moved to our current ten-acre complex, comprising three pitches and a training pitch In 1988/9 Ramblers enjoyed its greatest success to date, reaching the last sixteen of the FA Vase, only to lose 1-0 to Southern League Bury Town In 1991/2 we reached the last 32, losing at Newport (loW) 3-1
In 1997 the club won its first senior trophy, beating Stansted 2-1 in the Harry Fisher Cup Final Since then we have been runners up in Essex Senior League competitions eight times. Three players have gone on to play professional football; Fred Wolfe to West Ham in 1911; Gordon Brasted to Arsenal in 1953 and John Warner to Colchester in 1988 More recently, former junior player Tobias Braney has signed his first professional contract with Premier League Luton Town
The Club was dealt a devastating blow in 2000 with the untimely death of Chairman, Gordon Brasted With the demise of the Harry Fisher Trophy, we were delighted to replace it with the Gordon Brasted Trophy in the Essex Senior League, a fitting memorial to Gordon Sadly in 2022 we lost another Club stalwart, Martin Leno and the Club has since gone through some major reorganisation with a new Committee formed
Looking ahead to the 2024/25 season we have appointed a new First Team Manager, Paul Hayes, who arrives with a wealth of experience in the professional game, as well as the upper end of non-league We have also secured a new sponsorship deal with Nationwide Vehicle Assistance (NWVA). Already a major sponsor at West Ham United, Mick Jennings and his company have given the Club their backing so the future is looking bright! We will once again be looking to grow on our strong foundations, with the largest number of teams we have ever fielded across all age groups and abilities - 26 in total, including our disability team, wildcats, walking football as well as teams from U7 through to the First Team

The club was founded in 1928 and has been prominent in local football since that time with cup winner’s medals dating back to 1932 A key factor in the continued success of Hutton Football Club is the progression of young, local players The senior teams played in the Mid Essex League until 1989 when progression was made into the Essex Intermediate, now the Essex Olympian League The Club expanded rapidly after 2005 with the merger of Hutton FC and Hutton Medway FC (established in 1969) The Club now has 70 teams based in our local community
The current club house has been at the Polo Fields for over 50 years, two previous buildings being destroyed by fire, and the second one having been struck by lightning In 2010, the Clubhouse was vandalised and set on fire but has now been repaired and enhanced thanks to a large grant from Sport England.
Recent history has seen more rapid developments at the club The Football Association awarded Hutton FC with Charter Standard Community status which is the highest accreditation a club can achieve In 2005, when the award was granted, there were only nine clubs in the whole of Essex with this status. The Club is very proud to have been awarded Community Club of the year twice by Essex County FA The club has been encouraging girls to come and play for a number of years, and in 2005 the first official Hutton girls’ team was formed and since then, our Ladies 1st and reserve teams have been added to help with progression.
The Club has been involved in a European Tournament played against professional clubs' youth teams, with outstanding facilities. The Clubs are; Saint Ingbert (Germany), Rumelange (Luxembourg) and Zandhoven (Belgium). The tournament celebrates its 50th year in 2025. Last weekend was one of the most eventful football matches I have been involved in!
Going from 2-0 up to 3-2 down was a huge shock to anyone who watched the first half. Yes the referee had a big part to play but at the end of the day it was us who allowed the comeback to take place.
The thing I enjoyed most about the game was then watching our reaction. Where most sides could easily fold losing a lead and having their captain sinbined (for speaking to the ref), it was very pleasing to see we did the opposite. For the second time in three weeks, we had to come back from being behind and that’s what we did. It takes team spirit and big characters to do this and although we are largely a new team, we certainly have both of those in our ranks!
The plan is obviously not to make a habit of this but it’s obviously something we now know we are more than capable of, if and when needed.
I fully expect todays opponents to be a tough test. Their management like to build a solid base in their teams, which means we will need to be patient at times. We had some exciting games with them as a management team, as well as with Burnham as a club last season and I expect today to be the same.

Hutton FC has one of the most established and respected girls sections in Essex. The section is comprised of a thriving Wildcats group for our newest female ballers and 11 teams ranging from Under 8s through to u18s. Our current Under 8s manager Stuart Hart has already taken one team through the age ranges to under 18 and is now starting again!
Our girl's teams usually start playing in mixed leagues in the Brentwood Community Youth Football League before moving on to play in the Essex County Girls League. The overriding ethos for the section is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for our girls to enjoy their footballing journey, and to create lasting memories and friendships.
As well as looking after teams within the section we also have 3 of our girl's section managers involved as Trustees of Hutton FC and as such the needs of our female players are reflected equally in all decisions made regarding the direction of the club
We currently have a number of openings for girls in years 6, 7 and 8 so are keen to welcome players either new to the sport or experienced.
As the section has grown so too has our need for coaches and managers, so if you'd like to get involved don't hesitate to get in touch!
