BASILDONTOWNFC

Basildon Town were formed in 1946 and have played in various leagues over the years starting in the Thurrock Combination League then moving onto the Parthenon League and the Basildon League In 1959 we joined forces with local rivals Pitsea United and in 1966 became founder members of the newly formed Essex Olympian Football League and were hugely successful for a few years In 1969 the clubs split into two once more with Basildon Town carrying on in the Essex Olympian League

The Club suffered an almost mortal blow in the summer of 1971 when, out of the blue, we were evicted from our home ground Gun Meadow We were forced to pull out of the Essex Olympian Football League at the end of the 1970-71 season The Club then joined the Southend and District League Premier Division and gradually rebuilt over the next 10 years. In season 1980-81 the first team won the Premier League and the reserves won their divisional cup for the third year running At the start of the 1981-82 season we returned to the Essex Olympian Football League The reserves also joined the Olympian League a few years later following the setting up of a reserve section within the Olympian League The 1980's and early 1990’s were largely unproductive on the field In the late 1990's the first team had a period of success winning their divisional league in 1998-99 and winning the Basildon Sports Council Trophy on 2 occasions and also the Stanford Charity Cup

During the years following 2000 our first team had some success in cup competitions but league honours evaded the club By 2010/11 we were playing in Senior Division 3 with the reserve side in the Reserve Division Three Since then we have moved through the Leagues and in 2014/15 were champions of Division Two In 2016/17 we enjoyed probably our most successful season with the first team becoming champions of Division 1 and winning the Senior Cup and the reserves winning Senior Division 4 and the Reserve Cup Back in the Premier League for the first time in over 40 years the first team started 2017/18 well by winning the Senior Challenge Cup but fortunes then declined and a poor season saw us relegated. The Reserves had a good season and were promoted to Senior Division 4 In 2018/19 season the first team won promotion back to the Premier League and made the semi final of the Senior Cup The Reserves had a good season and won their second Reserve Cup Final in 3 years The next 2 seasons, as we all know, were ruined by the global pandemic In season 2022/23 we finished 2nd in the EOFL Premier League and achieved promotion to Thurlow Nunn League In what was our first season at Step 6 last season saw our first team narrowly fail to gain promotion losing out in play off game to Stanway Pegasus at end of what was a very long season

Reserve team won their league in the Essex Olympian Football Club added to clubs A team finishing runners up in their league to complete what was a successful season for the club

HUTTON FC HISTORY

The club was founded in 1928 and has been prominent in local football since that time with cup winner’s medals dating back to 1932. A key factor in the continued success of Hutton Football Club is the progression of young, local players. The senior teams played in the Mid Essex League until 1989 when progression was made into the Essex Intermediate, now the Essex Olympian League The Club expanded rapidly after 2005 with the merger of Hutton FC and Hutton Medway FC (established in 1969) The Club now has 70 teams based in our local community

The current club house has been at the Polo Fields for over 50 years, two previous buildings being destroyed by fire, and the second one having been struck by lightning In 2010, the Clubhouse was vandalised and set on fire but has now been repaired and enhanced thanks to a large grant from Sport England.

Recent history has seen more rapid developments at the club The Football Association awarded Hutton FC with Charter Standard Community status which is the highest accreditation a club can achieve. In 2005, when the award was granted, there were only nine clubs in the whole of Essex with this status The Club is very proud to have been awarded Community Club of the year twice by Essex County FA The club has been encouraging girls to come and play for a number of years, and in 2005 the first official Hutton girls’ team was formed and since then, our Ladies 1st and reserve teams have been added to help with progression.

The Club has been involved in a European Tournament played against professional clubs' youth teams, with outstanding facilities. The Clubs are; Saint Ingbert (Germany), Rumelange (Luxembourg) and Zandhoven (Belgium). It’s fair to say the last few games have been testing. From Coxy’s harsh red card at 6-0 up, to one of the worst refereeing displays ever seen at Cannons Wood, and another questionable sending off against Coggeshall (even their fans and staff were baffled), we’ve faced more than our share of challenges.

But that’s football. And we’re still in the fight.

With four games to go and an outside shot at a play-off place, there’s still everything to play for. Tonight is massive. Basildon have already taken three points from us this season, we don’t need reminding. But we’ve got the chance to set that right, and with the grit, passion, and belief we’ve shown recently, we know we’re capable of turning it on when it matters most.

Also, a huge shoutout and the very best of luck to our reserve side in their cup final tonight. A good number of our league-winning lads are in Ridger’s squad, and we’d love to see them bring home another trophy.

Up the Tons!

THURLOW NUNN - FIRST DIVISION SOUTH

Sunday was a historic day for Hutton FC and their girls and ladies section as the First team took on Leyton Orient in the Adobe FA Cup 3rd round qualifier for a place in the 1st Round Proper awaiting the winners.

Our Ladies First team managed by Darren Stacey and Luke Stone have had a good start to the season winning 4 of their 5 league games and beating Clapton and higher division opponents Enfield in previous Fa Cup rounds Leyton Orient came to Hannakins Farm Community Centre having recently acquired a major investment from a USA source into their womens section and boasting ex USA International striker Stephanie McCaffrey in their starting line up

With a crowd of over 150 people this contest kicked off and it was Hutton that started the more confident passing the ball around in midfield and only took 5 minutes when young right winger Holly Appleton, who only turned 18 the day before, was played through by a delightful ball by captain Abi Carke ,her speed allowing her to drive into the box and getting her shot away which was finely saved by the Orient keeper Hutton kept up the pressure and 5 minutes later opened the scoring when midfielder Millie Staceys ball clipped over the top of Orients defense saw striker Daisy Canny run on to and lob the goalkeeper from 25 yards ,1-0 Hutton

From then on it was Leyton Orient who settled the better team and although having more of the ball couldnt find a way through the hard tackling Hutton midfield or defence Orient had only two half chances the rest of the half untill the 43rd minute when a quality defence splitting pass saw McCaffrey run on into the box and just getting to the ball before the young 17 year old Hutton goalie Evie Carvell, quickly coming off her line was judged to have clipped the strikers right foot and a penalty was awarded The ex USA International calmy slotted away to make it 1-1 However almost immediately Hutton responded with the talented Lucy Critchell playing the ball out wide on the left to her sister Hayley to run on toHayley drove down the wing and cross to the ever present Canny who slotted in the far corner2-1 Hutton right on half time

The second half became a very scrappy midfield battle with either side being able to break down defencesNumerous times Orient tried to find McCaffreys skills but the combination of Kayleigh Franklin and Izzy Crichton marked her superblyAs the game went on Orient tried more ariel balls into the box yet the defence marshalled extremely well by Phoebe Keys and Molly Bowness heading presence kept Orient at bayWith 25 minutes left the management started to introduce much needed substitutes Charlotte Rutt,Isobel Boyd and Megan Gerrish to freshen up the embattled Hutton midfieldThis certainly done the trick as on the 80th minute after a brief spell of Hutton pressure a back pass from Orient allowed Canny (who used to play in Arsenal team with Ellen White) to tackle the keeper and steal the ball off her and slot into the net for her hatrick3-1 Ten minutes of constant high pressure in the Hutton box occured yet Carvell in goal and her defence stopped any clear cut chance by Orient to finally secure the historic win 3-1

Speaking after the game manager Darren Stacey said "The girls were all fantastic,we always feel like we can score,so we kept our defensive shape superbly and just battled away in midfield, taking many knocks but just kept at itHutton girls and Ladies section really has a buzz about it this seasonBehind the scenes for many years now hard work has been put in and now we finally have Flints Community Ground Open, girls teams all the way from little Wildcats to 3 ladies teamsWe had 5 teenagers on the pitch today which shows our active player pathway is working, its fantastic"
