Celebrating Katherine Mansfield

Celebrating Katherine Mansfield
Naenae Pool & Fitness Centre is hosting a construction open day on Saturday 28 October, giving you a chance to see the progress being made.
When finished, it will be Aotearoa’s first Green Star 5+ rated pool –meaning it will be energy efficient when operating. 80 percent of the labour force and materials come from local sources.
There are limited numbers available for these tours, so look in our ‘Highlights’ section for more information.
Meanwhile, the Historical Society of Eastbourne and Eastbourne Neighbourhood Hub is hosting a centenary tribute to Katherine Mansfield, showcasing her life and links to the Bays. Katherine Mansfield is one of the most highly regarded short story writers of the 20th century.
October marks four language weeks: Tuvalu, Fiji, Niue and Tokelau. Take a look through the rest of this booklet to see how we are recognising these languages at our Neighbourhood Hubs.
My ‘Catch up with Campbell’ sessions continue, but instead of the usual library or cafe setting I will be at Les Dalton Dog Park in Wainuiomata on 4 October, 10:30am. If you have anything you’d like to discuss with me, you can pop down and chat with myself and my two rough collies Lupin and Ollie.
Finally, our Creative Communities Scheme Fund closes on October 14. The fund supports local groups and people wanting to start a project with an arts or cultural focus. Go to the Hutt City Council website if you feel you meet the criteria for this fund.
I hope you all enjoy the month and take advantage of all the great community events we have on offer.
