Message from the Mayor
Kia ora, welcome to the June edition of What’s On in Lower Hutt.
It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through the year. Time flies when there’s lots going on - and this month is no different.
You may already know that I host regular community catch ups across the city, to listen to residents and follow up on their ideas or concerns. But for the first time, we’ve included our upcoming catch ups in this booklet so you can see them all in one place. Be sure to check them out and come and see me when I’m somewhere near you next!
Something I’m really excited about this month is the 2023 Hutt Fest at the Walter Nash Centre. This is always a highlight on the community calendar, and is always a great event for our tamariki to share their culture with our community through performing arts.
This month also sees the World Wide Knit in Public Day take place, and we have a range of events across our neighbourhood hubs to celebrate - for both young and old!
Schools’ Pride Week is also this month, and there are some cool activities at the Naenae Neighbourhood Hub. Be sure to check them out if you’re interested.
Lastly, nominations for our Civic Honours awards are now open. These awards recognise volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to our communities over long periods of time.

If you know someone who you think we should recognise with an award, be sure to make a nomination by going to hutt.city/civicawards and filling in the online form. Nominations close at 5pm Sunday 18 June.
I look forward to seeing you out and about this month!
