Wellington Pride

While summer is starting to draw to a close, there are still plenty of exciting things going on in our city for all ages. With Sea Week and Parks Week, this month promises heaps of fun for all ages - on land and at sea!

Even though school’s back, there’s still plenty for the kids to do this month. From the Toy Library in Wainui and Koraunui, to the Minecraft Pop-in and Play in Moera - our tamariki are spoiled for choice with the activities across the city.

There are a range of Pride events too, which offer several activities for our rainbow whānau. It’s so important that we’re inclusive of all our people, and it’s great to see specific events being put on specifically for our rainbow community.

Something I’m really looking forward to doing this month is officially opening the Maungaraki Community Library. Initially built for Maungaraki School, the community approached us with the idea for it to operate as a public library outside of school hours. We thought it was a fantastic idea, and I’m really stoked we’ve been able to make it happen. This shows what’s possible when we get alongside our communities and support their aspirations. I can’t wait to officially open it!

Those are just some of the highlights, but as you’ll see, there’s plenty more happening in the Hutt this month. I look forward to seeing you out and about!
