‫مقدمة‬ ‫مــع االســتمرار فــي تعزيــز العالقــات الوديــة القائمــة بــن شــعبي قطــر وتايالنــد ومواصلــة‬ ‫إحيــاء االحتفاليــة الســنوية األولــى لتوقيــع اتفــاق التعــاون الثقافــي بــن البلديــن ‪ ،‬يســعد‬ ‫الســفارة امللكيــة التايالنديــة بالتعــاون مــع وزارة الثقافــة والفنــون والتــراث ومركــز الفنــون‬ ‫البصريــة بــإدارة الثقافــة والفنــون فــي دولــة قطــر ونــادي «فوتــو» املتحــد بتايالنــد افتتــاح‬ ‫معــرض «فنــون تايالنــد» فــي كتــارا‪.‬‬ ‫واســتنادا ً إلــى املفاهيــم املشــتركة مــن بســاطة وتعبيــر صــادق ‪ ،‬يضــم معــرض «فنــون‬ ‫تايالنــد» مجموعتــن مــن األعمــال الفنيــة الشــهيرة الثنــن مــن الفنانــن التايالنديــن‬ ‫املرموقــن‪« :‬مطبوعــات مــن الغابــة» للفنــان «ياناويــت كونشــايثوجن» الــذي يعمــل أســتاذا ً‬ ‫مســاعدا ً و «ريــاح موســمية صامتــة ‪:‬أصــداء مــن الريــاح اجلنوبيــة» للفنــان شــامني‬ ‫ثيبمانــي‪.‬‬ ‫خالــص تقديرنــا لــوزارة الثقافــة والفنــون والتــراث حتــت القيــادة احلكيمــة لســعادة الدكتــور‬ ‫حمــد بــن عبــد العزيــز الكــواري وكذلــك ملركــز الفنــون البصريــة للتعــاون فــي تنظيــم أول‬ ‫معــرض للفنــون التايالنديــة فــي دولــة قطــر‪ ،‬علم ـا ً أن هنــاك مــا هــو أكثــر مــن التبــادل‬ ‫الفنــي والثقافــي ‪ ،‬حيــث تتطلــع الســفارة إلــى جلــب املزيــد مــن الفعاليــات الثقافيــة إلــى‬ ‫قطــر فــي املســتقبل القريــب‪.‬‬

YANAWIT KUNCHAETHONG b. 1957 B.F.A. (2nd Hon) in Graphic Arts, Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts / Master of Fine Arts from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music (Japan Government scholarship) / Printmaking study course (Italy Government scholarship) at Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze Yanawit has participated in more than 22 solo exhibitions . He has been internationally and locally awarded more than 16 awards. In 2011, he was granted an award from “Kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints”, Japan. He is the first Thai artist who develops the printing techniques by using natural pigments. Moreover, he was invited to be a guest speaker at top universities in Japan such as Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, Tama Art University, Kyoto University of Art and Design, Musashino Art University, Joshibi University of Art and Design. He was the guest speaker and coordinator of the workshop arranged for art students and instructors from Australia National University. In 2007, his research titled “Organic Print” was awarded by National Research Council in the category of Philosophy. He took part in many exhibitions including invitation artist for “Print Tokyo 2012” on occasion of the 80th anniversary exhibition of Japan Print Association, the 26th International Asia Art Festival in Korea, “Little Big Print’ PSG Art Gallery, Silpakorn University ,the 2nd China International Exhibition of Engraving Masters 2013, Hangzhou, China and 2013 Guanlan International Print Biennial, China

PRINT FROM FOREST

BY YANAWIT KUNCHAETHONG Yanawit’s organic prints are void of narratives but rich with a unique technical mastery of utilizing natural dyes as paints for his prints.

His start with this method was coincidental. An avid nature lover, he was working in his nursery one day when removing the seeds of a local plant left his fingers stained with a colour that was resistant to washing. Therein began his experimentation with and consequent resolution of this methodology.

Yanawit uses the colours he obtains from nature in a simple, straightforward way, rejecting the use of visual forms. He just arranges the different colours and makes a print, or he applies the colours to the printing plate without changing or improving or falsifying them in any way. His intention is simply to reveal the actual colours of nature. In other words, the colours that appear in his art are pure and free from all contaminants. In line with the organic materials, he leaves the works to develop naturally hence the ‹spotted› imprints of colour on the paper, leaving the composition spontaneous. The artist uses mostly plants, fruits and seeds etc. which are native or local to his country, Thailand.

‫مطبوعات من الغابة‬ ‫ياناويت كونشايثوجن‬ ‫املطبوعــات العضويــة للفنــان «ياناويــت» هــي صعبــة الوصــف ولكنهــا‬ ‫ جــاءت هــذه الطريقــة‬.‫غنيــة اإلتقــان فــي اســتخدام األصبــاغ الطبيعيــة‬ ‫بالصدفــة حينمــا كان بــذور نبتــة محليــة فتلطخــت أصابعــه ملطخــة‬ .‫بلــون صعبــت إزالتــه فبــدأت جتاربــه فــي هــذا األســلوب‬ ‫يســتخدم «ياناويــت» األلــوان التــي يحصــل عليهــا مــن الطبيعــة بطريقــة‬ ‫ إنــه يرتــب فقــط‬. ‫بســيطة ومباشــرة بــدون اســتخدام أشــكال بصريــة‬ ‫األلــوان اخملتلفــة حتــى يتنهــي مــن الطباعــة أو يوقــع األلــوان علــى لوحــة‬ ‫الطباعــة دون تغييــر أو حتســن بــأي شــكل مــن األشــكال حتــى يكشــف‬ ‫ فــإن األلــوان‬،‫ وبعبــارة أخــرى‬. ‫ببســاطة عــن األلــوان احلقيقيــة للطبيعــة‬ ‫ ومتشــيا مــع املــواد‬.‫التــي تظهــر فــي فنــه تخلــو مــن جميــع امللوثــات‬ ‫ فهــو يتــرك األعمــال تتطــور طبيعيــا ً تاركــة بصمــات مــن‬،‫العضويــة‬ ‫ يســتخدم الفنــان غالبــا ً النباتــات والفواكــه‬. ‫األلــوان بشــكل عفويــة‬ .‫والبــذور احملليــة مــن بلــده تايالنــد‬

Chamni Thipmanee A veteran photographer, Chamni was born in Songkla, south of Thailand in September 1950. He started his life as a hippie, who was deeply involved in the music industry, until his free spirit and love for travel took him to Italy where he got an opportunity to study his age old love, photography.

Like a true traveler, he believes that beauty is all around him, and even when he is not shooting professionally, he slings his camera around his neck and wanders off into the world, capturing rare intimate moments of his subjects.

Every picture of his seems to tell a story almost like we are glimpsing into their personal lives and space. Capturing subjects beyond the obvious comes naturally to Chamni, and his pictures have a photo journalistic style to them. Yet he transcends the real and commercial world very easily and is equally adept to shooting stunning hair and beauty shots which has earned him a reputation in the industry.

Today Chamni has an extensive volume of personal work including beauty, landscape and documentary which have been the subject of his many exhibitions. His amazing eye for composition has made him a much sought after photographer.

‫شامني ثيبماني‬ ‫مصــور مخضــرم ولــد فــي ســوجنكال بجنــوب تايالنــد فــي ســبتمبر عــام‬ ‫ بــدأ حياتــه الفنيــة كعــازف للموســيقى حتــى قــاده أســلوب حياتــه‬.1950 . ‫احلــرة إلــى إيطاليــا حيــث درس التصويــر الفوتوغرافــي‬ ‫ كان يــرى اجلمــال فــي كل شــيء مــن حولــه حتــى‬،‫ومثــل كل مســافر‬ ‫ طــاف بلــدان العالــم بعدســته‬.‫عندمــا كان ال يقــوم مبمارســة التصويــر‬ .‫ملتقطــا ً حلظــات حميميــة نــادرة‬ ‫ التقــاط صــورا ً غيــر منطية‬. ‫كل صــورة لــه تبــدو كأنهــا حتكــي قصــة ذاتيــة‬ ً ‫ذات مــذاق صحافــي هــو أســلوب الفنــان “شــامني” الــذي يتحــول أيضــا‬ ‫بسالســة لتقــدمي األعمــال الواقعيــة واجلماليــة والتجاريــة ممــا أكســبه‬ .‫ســمعة طيبــة فــي هــذه الصناعــة‬ ‫ لــدي “شــامني”مجموعة كبيرة مــن األعمــال اجلماليــة وفوتوغرافيا‬،‫واليــوم‬ ‫املناظــر الطبيعيــة والصــور الوثائقيــة التــي ضمتهــا معارضــه املتعــددة‬ . ‫التــي تعكــس عينــه املذهلــة فــي إبــداع التكوينــات‬

‫رياح موسمية صامتة‬ ‫أصداء من الرياح اجلنوبية‬ ‫جنــوب تايالنــد ‪ ،‬ســواء كان شــاطئ فردوســي للســياح أو منطقــة عنيفــة‬ ‫بالنزاعــات السياســية ‪ ،‬فــكل لــه حيــاة خاصــة وأســرار ‪ .‬اختــار «شــامني‬ ‫ثيبمانــي» الكشــف عــن الواقعيــة الســاحرة ملســقط رأســه مــن خــال‬ ‫التصويــر الفوتوغرافــي باألبيــض واألســود ‪ .‬بســاطة احليــاة الصعبــة فــي‬ ‫املناظــر الطبيعيــة الصوفــي تســتحضر شــعورا ً قويـا ً باالنتمــاء و االفتقــاد‪.‬‬ ‫مثــل ريــاح موســمية صامتــة ‪ ،‬تتواصــل لغــة العيــون مــع الســكان‬ ‫احملليــن فــي العديــد مــن الصــور التــي تتحــدي اجلميــع للدخــول فــي‬ ‫منطقــة ريفيــة وعــرة مــن الريفيــة فــي هــذا املعــرض‪.‬‬

‫‪SILENT MONSOON‬‬ ‫‪ECHOES FROM THE SOUTHERN WIND‬‬ ‫‪Southern Thailand, whether a beach paradise for tourists or a‬‬ ‫‪violent zone for political conflicts, has its own life and secrets.‬‬ ‫‪Chamni Thipmanee has chosen to reveal the magical realism of‬‬ ‫‪his home region through black and white photography. The sim‬‬‫‪plicity of tough life in mystic landscapes conjures up a powerful‬‬ ‫‪sense of belonging and loss. Like an imagery silent monsoon,‬‬ ‫‪the strong “eye contact” with the local people in many pictures‬‬ ‫‪may quietly challenge everyone to plunge into the rough terrain‬‬ ‫‪of rural lifescape in this photo exhibition.‬‬

Preface With the determination to strengthen the existing cordial relations between the peoples of Qatar and Thailand and to further commemorate the first anniversary of the signing of the Cultural Cooperation Agreement between the two countries, the Royal Thai Embassy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage and the Visual Art Center of the State of Qatar and the Foto United Club of Thailand, brings you the “Arts of Thailand” Exhibition to Katara Cultural Village.

Based on the common concepts of simplicity and sincere expression, the “Arts of Thailand” Exhibition consists of two well-known works of art from two famous Thai artists: Assistant Professor Yanawit Kunchaethong’s “Print form Forest” paintings and Mr. Chamni Thipmanee’s “Silent Monsoon: Echoes from the Southern Wind” photographs.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage under the wise leadership of H.E. Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, as well as the Visual Art Center for their kind cooperation in staging the very first Thai arts exhibition in the State of Qatar. Knowing that there is much more to share about the fascinating world of art and culture, the Embassy looks forward to bringing more cul tural events to Qatar in the near future.
