When I started planning our luxury issue I knew there could only be one cover star, socialite and business woman, Tamara Ecclestone. The Formula 1 heiress certainly knows a thing or two about the glamour and glitz that comes with being raised in an exceptionally wealthy family, and stepping inside her Kensington mansion – worth a reported £70 million – only proved that there was no better woman to talk to about all things luxury. Read all about her incredible lifestyle, and how she’s trying to keep her daughter Fifi as grounded as possible, on page six. We’ve also been busy chatting to a whole host of celebs, all of which have a five-star theme in mind. Jessica Wright fills us in on how she gets red carpet ready on page 39, Helen Flanagan talks luxurious yet affordable maternity lingerie on page 56, and Laura Crane and Pete Wicks Tamara wears dress from balmain.com fill us in on the far-flung destinations they’ve visited in our travel pages, starting on page 19. We also took to the gym for a PT session like no other with Made in Chelsea’s Ryan Libbey on page 24, caught up with Imogen Thomas to find out about her Christmas plans as a single mum on page 52, and spoke to newlywed Olivia Bowen about her fantastic wedding day at Gosfield Hall on page 46. That girl’s got taste – I married my husband there myself 10 years ago! Enjoy our luxurious issue…

The heiress to the Formula 1 fortune shows Celebrity Secrets around her breathtaking Kensington home

rriving at Tamara Ecclestone’s mansion that she shares with her husband and daughter, it’s clear this interview is going to be very different from the celebrity homes we’ve visited before. Buzzed by security to be let in, Celebrity Secrets is led to a waiting room where our pictures are taken and our ID vetted, before we’re asked to sign a confidentiality form to protect Tamara, her home and her family. Considering she’s worth a reported £230 million, it comes as no surprise that such security measures are involved. Tamara, 34, is heiress to her dad Bernie Ecclestone’s

Interview Claire Muffett-Reece

billionaire fortune, and is also the owner of two successful businesses, Fifi & Friends and SHOW Beauty. Her life is therefore far from ordinary: housekeepers discreetly pop in and out of bedrooms changing bedding, two service men quietly fix the bowling alley in her downstairs nightclub, and a butler is on hand offering our team ice-cold Evian and biscuits, served on silver trays, throughout the day. You’d be forgiven for thinking that having staff means there's no need for Tamara to be tech-savvy around her home; however, she’s quickly on hand to help our

photographer work the electric blinds when too much daylight hampers a shot, and can name every piece of artwork on her walls. Sure, there’s a custom-made unicorn chaise lounge in the hallway, and she’s converted the entire basement in to a soft play centre for daughter Fifi, four, but Tamara’s still passionate about helping others. A regular supporter of Great Ormond Street Hospital, she’s even waived her fee for our shoot, with the request that a donation be made to her sister’s charity, the Petra Ecclestone Foundation, which supports children with autism and meningitis. celebritysecrets.com

Tamara, thanks for letting us shoot at your Kensington home. Do you know if this is still London’s most expensive street? ‘I honestly have no idea! I know the media reported that at one stage, but you can’t believe everything you read in the papers…’ You’ve lived here for five years. Would you say this is your forever home? ‘Definitely – I can’t imagine ever leaving here. I did have a bit of a wobble recently after my sister moved to LA, but that was the only time I’ve ever contemplated moving. I love London and I love this house. We brought Fifi home from the hospital here, and we had her first birthday here, too.’ Is it true your home has 57 rooms? ‘Again that’s something the papers say – it’s definitely not that many! As much as people probably think we just live in a couple of rooms, we actually use the top two levels of the house all the time. Fifi has friends over and they love to disappear and play hide and seek, and the dogs are always running around. We’re very lucky to have this house, but there’s certainly not 57 rooms.’ What would you say is the most luxurious aspect of the house? ‘My bed – it’s huge and is super-comfy. There’s always me, Jay, Fifi and a dog in it, so it needs to be massive! I pine for it when I’m away.’

‘The most luxurious thing I’ve done in our home is have the bottom floor converted in to soft play for Fifi’ What about the fact you’ve got your own hair and beauty salon at home? ‘It sounds bad but I never get ready in there! I tend to be wherever Fifi is, usually on the floor where she’s playing. She’s at school today so I’ve actually used the salon for once!’ So there’s no bath made out of gold like the papers report? ‘That’s not true either! The most luxurious thing I’ve done is get the bottom floor converted from a pool to soft play for Fifi. I know it’s extravagant, but now it gets used all the time by Fifi and her school friends.’

Tamara wears dress from cushnie.com and shoes from gina.com

Let’s talk about your household. Have you any idea how many staff it takes to help you all? ‘I have an assistant and a security team, plus a driver, butler and housekeepers, so around 12 in total. We have a chef, too, which is a good thing! I’m not cut out for cooking and would have definitely poisoned my family by now.’ Do you cook at all? ‘I always make breakfast. Jay says no one does a bacon sandwich and tea like me, so I make that on the weekends for him. I also make breakfast for Fifi before she goes off to school.’ What about chores? Surely having housekeepers means you don’t have to lift a finger… ‘I always pick up after myself. When we get out of bed, I’ll straighten the sheets so it’s semipresentable. I also make Fifi put her toys away – she has to tidy up after herself at school, so why shouldn’t she do the same at home?’ Does that mean you change the toilet roll when you’ve used the last of it? ‘[Laughing] No! That sounds awful doesn’t it?’ Do you ever wish it was just you three? ‘I know we have staff but it honestly doesn’t feel like they’re there a lot of the time. If we’re in the bedroom or the lounge people don’t come in unless we particularly need something, so it does feel like it’s just me, Jay and Fifi.’ celebritysecrets.com

Moving on to growing up in an exceptionally wealthy family. When did you first realise that your childhood was somewhat different to the norm? ‘I love the fact that when you’re a young kid you just feel the same as everyone else. I think I noticed it first when I was a teenager in secondary school. I’ll never forget there was a debate team and they started talking about my dad in one of the topics!’ Did you have any family routines? ‘We never had nannies growing up, so my parents would both do the school run together in the mornings, then my mum would always pick us up in the afternoon. My dad also came home from work at half six most nights so we could eat dinner together.’ What about holidays? ‘I was lucky enough to travel to some amazing countries, but my best memories were going to Croatia every summer to visit my mum’s side of the family. Spending time together was such an important thing in our household and my mum always tried to keep us very much together.’ Was it important for you when you first started dating to look for a partner with their own money? ‘No – I honestly never really thought about that. When I met Jay I wasn’t even looking to meet anyone, but there was a real spark and we just hit it off straight away. I knew from the very beginning that he was a really genuine person – I’d been out with enough bad people in my life to realise when someone’s interested in me for me.’ What was it about Jay that made you realise he was the one? ‘He was just so funny – I literally couldn’t stop laughing! Jay has such a good sense of humour, plus I’m quite an uptight person, whereas he has a really laidback personality. But it was definitely his sense of humour that got me.’ Jay proposed after one month of dating… did anyone try to put you off because it was so soon? ‘Everyone – my family were in total shock! Looking back now I can understand why they were worried, as if Fifi got engaged after just a month I would feel exactly the same. Luckily their concerns changed quite quickly, as the more time Jay spent with my family the more they understood why he was perfect for me.’

Let’s talk about your wedding day, which reportedly cost around £7 million. What would you say was your biggest extravagance on the big day? ‘Probably having Mariah Carey perform. I was actually nervous to meet her, but she was super nice – and not a diva at all! The only request she had was that she wanted to fly all of her dogs over with her.’

Tamara wears jumpsuit from balmain.com

Looking back would you change anything about your wedding? ‘Probably the way the media reported it. We didn’t sell our pictures to a magazine, so all anyone saw was a few snaps the paps took of our beach party the next day. It was reported that everyone was drunk and jumping in the sea. Our actual day was incredibly romantic – my dad walked me down the aisle and my sister was there with her newborn baby. It was a real family affair, and we only invited around 120 people, so it wasn’t a massive wedding.’ And then there was Fifi… are we right in saying she was a honeymoon baby? ‘She was! I came home from the wedding and had to go to New York for work. On the way home I just had a feeling, so we did a test and it came up positive straight away!’ What was it like being pregnant? ‘I was sick for three months and couldn’t stand the smell of coffee, which I used to love. Luckily, it only lasted until around 12 weeks and after that I loved being pregnant.’ Fifi was initially breach, which meant you had a planned caesarean. If you have another baby are you hoping for a natural birth? ‘Fifi moved a few days before my surgery, but it had been in my mind for so long that I was having a c-section, so I didn’t change it. If we do have another baby I would like a natural birth, as I’d like to experience labour.’

‘Having Mariah Carey perform at the wedding was probably our biggest extravagance’ Will we see another baby any time soon? ‘I’m happy with just the three of us, but Jay wants more kids. I’m also so busy work-wise, so now that Fifi’s at school it’s nice to throw myself into that again. Having said that, if she asked for a baby brother or sister I would have one right away – it’s more the fact that she doesn’t want one that’s putting me off!’ Has Fifi settled in to school? ‘I think because she was at nursery it made it a lot easier. I shed a few tears at the school gates, but it wasn’t the same level.’ Is Fifi aware of how privileged she is? ‘No – she’s oblivious to it, which just shows how innocent we all are at that age. She sits there telling her friends she’s got soft play at her house and I worry they’ll think that she’s the biggest liar ever!’

Who says ‘no’ to her more – you or Jay? ‘Definitely Jay – I’m a bit more of a pushover, so I’m glad he’s there to be firm. We have a reward chart for Fifi, and when she gets enough stars on it for good behaviour she’s allowed a new toy.’ Fifi gets flown on private jets all over the world. What would you say to readers who feel she’ll never really appreciate the true value of money? ‘We do the very best we can by saying “no” to her, plus when she’s older she’ll have to do chores and help around the house. We also go through her toys and clothes together and give things to charity. She understands that she’s lucky, and that she has more than most boys and girls, but she’s too young to appreciate it properly.’ So what’s a typical day like for you? ‘It’s just like everyone else’s routine to a certain degree. I start my day by getting up at six thirty and grabbing a coffee. I then wake Fifi, who likes to watch TV while eating her breakfast – which I know some people will disagree with! After she’s dressed it’s off to school, then I’ll go to the gym or have coffee with a friend. I then check on Fifi & Friends and SHOW Beauty at the office – and before I know it I’m heading back to school to pick Fifi up. She has ballet, gym, dance or swimming, before we head home for bath, dinner, story time and bed.’ celebritysecrets.com

Is breastfeeding still part of your routine now Fifi’s started school? ‘I totally stopped at the end of the summer. At that time it was only very occasional, but then Fifi decided that was that. I wanted it to be a natural process and it worked out perfectly.’ You must be proud of standing up for breastfeeding women and showing there’s no shame in feeding your child... ‘Definitely. I’ve had so many positive messages, but then there are the people who disagreed with me breastfeeding for four years, so I’ve endured a lot of criticism, too. Women come up to me in the street and say “my mother-in-law says I should stop breastfeeding and I’ve been able to stand up to her because of you.” That’s a really amazing feeling.’ Are you still not drinking even though you’ve finished breastfeeding? ‘I haven’t drunk since my wedding and I feel a lot better for it. I can’t imagine having a hangover and looking after Fifi. Obviously never say never, but for now it’s just not something I really see happening in my life.’ Has breastfeeding had a negative impact on your life, apart from the people who think you should have stopped earlier? ‘Not at all. I never felt uncomfortable breastfeeding in public, and it never restricted what I wanted to wear clothes-wise. Maybe Jay felt a bit neglected at times – but that’s about it!’ Speaking of clothes, reports claim your wardrobe’s around the £5 million mark. What the most expensive item you own? ‘It’s got to be my wedding dress… but its price is a secret! It’s currently hanging in my wardrobe but I want to get a glass cabinet made for it. The problem is, I just don’t know where to display it.’ How many bags and shoes do you own? ‘I have a lot of shoes, which is a shame because I don’t really wear that many! Shoes and bags made me very happy in the past, but they’re not a priority in my life anymore.’

What’s on your Christmas list? ‘There’s nothing I want or need. I love Christmas for the memories, like seeing Fifi and Jay open their gifts. Jay says I’m hard to buy for, but I’m a sucker for anything personalised. I’m happy with a photo frame!’ What are you stocking up on for Jay and Fifi this Christmas? ‘Fifi likes LOL Surprise! – she’s obsessed. As for Jay, he loves clothes, so he’s easy to shop for.’ You’ve said you’re spending Christmas in LA. Why do you love it there? ‘I miss my sister and the kids so much – and when Fifi’s with her cousins she’s so happy. I did contemplate moving there, but Fifi’s now settled at school. Instead I’ll visit my sister as much as I can during the holidays. It’s not the same but for now I don’t see us moving.’ How are Fifi & Friends and SHOW Beauty? ‘They’re doing really well. We’ve added some new products to Fifi & Friends, plus it’s in some great stores and on Amazon.’ So what are your favourite products? ‘Fifi’s hair gets quite knotty, so I always use the Fifi & Friends Conditioning Detangling Spray on her hair each morning.’ You asked for a donation to the Petra Ecclestone Foundation for this interview. How important is helping others to you? ‘Giving back to charity is something I’m passionate about. It’s a family thing – my mum helps charities in Croatia and my dad supports a lot in the UK. I’ve also supported Great Ormond Street Hospital for around 15 years.’ Fans often ask you for money via social media. How do you cope? ‘I try not to focus on it. You’d be amazed how many letters I get on a daily basis, many of which just ask for money to go on holiday!’

Tamara wears dress from fleurdumal.com and shoes from gianvitorossi.com

Do you only shop designer? ‘No – I love dressing casual for the school run in leggings with a jumper. I love high street stores such as GAP, Zara, Next and Topshop.’ So does shopping on the high street mean you are careful with money? ‘Definitely – and a lot of that is down to my dad. I remember when I was a teenager I really wanted a bomber jacket – and I begged my dad to take me to buy it. When we got there he started haggling with the man in the shop over the price – I was mortified! He was basically bartering like we were in a Moroccan market! When I moaned about it later he said “you should never pay what people tell you the asking price is” – it’s something I’ll never forget.’ celebritysecrets.com

‘Shoes and bags made me very happy in the past, but they’re not a priority in my life anymore’

Does that mean you still look at price tags? ‘Of course – it’s definitely not a case of “yes, just write the cheque.” Jay likes to know what I pay for things and makes sure I’m being smart about money. Christmas is also just around the corner, and we’re buying Fifi less presents this year.’

What are your plans for Christmas? ‘We’re in LA with my sister. We’ll also head to Lapland again – that was the best trip we’ve ever been on! Fifi loved it last year, and now I think that she’ll appreciate it even more.’

Do you think you’ll always be known as the heiress to her dad’s fortune? ‘I’m never going to get away from that, so I’ve learnt to embrace it. I’m lucky my dad has provided me with such a nice life, but at the same time people need to understand I’ve never spent my life just shopping and socialising. I’m not saying I want to forget my dad and the F1 heritage, but there’s more to me – and I like to think I’ve proved that.’

So what’s your take on the saying ‘money can’t buy you happiness’? ‘I definitely agree. Money has never been able to buy the most important things – love, happiness, loyalty and health, plus my daughter, my husband and my family. I would give up everything else in a heartbeat.’ CS

The TOWIE star talks five-star escapes and having a laugh with Lockie Interview Claire Muffett-Reece

I LOVE TO TRAVEL THE WORLD ‘The Middle East is an amazing place to visit – and Dubai in particular. It’s such a beautiful city and I love the fact you can go to amazing bars and restaurants, but also experience the culture side of things. You also can’t knock the UK – I once stayed in a tree house in the Scottish Highlands, in the grounds of a haunted castle. Ryan Libbey CS meets one half of Made in Chelsea’s very own fitspo couple Interview Amelia Glean

If I was a celebrity (the real ones you get starry-eyed over when you spot them on the tube), I too would be a vision of toned and healthy perfection. I’d have nutritionists, personal trainers and protein shakes on tap, and I’d be ferried around to the most Insta-worthy boutique gyms, with top industry advice at my fingertips. At least I like to think so... But I’m not an A-lister, so I’ll have to make do with acting like one, with the help of a fancy PT who also happens to be a pretty big name himself. Ryan Libbey – who you may recognise from the only reality series to come out of Chelsea, Instagram, and your boyfriend’s body aspiration hot list – is lugging kettlebells, squat racks and barbells around with enthusiasm, preparing to take me through an hour-long gym session. I’ll admit to having expected a stand-offish vibe from the Chelsea boy, eager to get the workout over with and on to his next, more important client. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. ‘I don’t know any other way than to be real and honest,’ he says, while carrying a rather heavy-looking dumbbell. ‘I’m a straight shooter – it’s always black and white with me.’ Not only was I seriously put through my paces in Vauxhall’s trendy gym, Manor, but I was taken aback by Ryan’s easy-going vibe, and found his excitable personality quite contagious. Before long

I’d successfully completed three circuits, despite two exhausted, shaking legs. This was much to Ryan’s amusement, who told me to finish off the session with 10 box jumps, followed by the dreaded burpee. I was in hell for a minute or so, but afterwards I felt like a new woman – albeit a sweaty mess! This was when I realised how much I’d love a personal trainer in my life – not only does it improve your form and stop you falling into bad habits, but you’re more motivated to find new ways of challenging yourself. ‘When I started working out with others, I realised that I wasn’t quite the machine that I’d originally believed,’ Ryan laughs. ‘Your body gets used to a monotonous routine.’ Yes, we’re all guilty of going through the motions at one time or another, especially in the gym after a long day at work. ‘It’s easy to do the same workouts in an allotted time, with the same rest periods, sets and reps when training on your own. But adding some changes really can make all the difference.’ Due to a hectic media schedule, Ryan says he isn’t as involved in his own PT company, Team Roar Fitness, as he’d like to be. This is when I realise how lucky I was to have nabbed a session with him. Even his selfie-queen fiancée, Made in Chelsea’s Louise Thompson, doesn’t get a look in at times! ‘If Louise had it her way, I would train her more. She gives me a little dig now and again that I don’t work out with her enough. We do everything together, so sometimes I want to slip off to the gym for an hour by myself,’ he says. Talking of which, what happened to those Instagram videos? You know, the ones where Ryan used Louise as a sort of human kettlebell... ‘We were on holiday together and found it so hard doing nothing. So, we started doing somersaults on the beach!’ he says. ‘It was never choreographed – it really did just happen. We haven’t been away recently, but there are some trips coming up, so watch this space!’ CS

THAT

FEELING

Want to ramp up your health routine and wave goodbye to bloating? Start taking care of your gut and nurture your “second brain”.

We all owe a lot to gut instinct, but isn’t it time you paid attention to your body and gave it some TLC in return for bearing the burden of your big life decisions? More than a psychological myth, scientific studies show that gut health plays a huge role in maintaining your overall wellbeing, impacting everything from your mood to common colds. It all comes down to the billions of bacteria that live in your gut. Research suggests that the presence of good bacteria in the gut may strengthen your immune system and help improve your mental health, whereas a build-up of bad bacteria may do the exact opposite. While clued-up fitness fanatics are already drinking kombucha to balance these bacteria levels out, for those not eating enough of these types of ‘bacteria boosting’ foods there is a much easier way to get your gut into good shape.

With years of research under its belt, Bimuno® is a daily food supplement that can be added to tea, coffee or any other drink or sprinkled over food, to restore balance in the gut in just seven days. Bimuno® works by feeding and stimulating the growth of good bacteria in the gut including the important Bifidobacteria which limits the space for bad bacteria. Unlike the live bacteria found in probiotics that are heat sensitive and often don’t make it to the gut, prebiotics are stable and reach the colon intact. The result? In your search for a healthier, happier you this could be one of the easiest health hacks to take on board. Available from www.Bimuno.com, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Tesco.

TRIED TESTED Alice White from Berkshire suffered from severe bloating and her digestive system felt sluggish. She says: “I had a lot of gurgling in my stomach. Bimuno has helped reduce this and the slow digestive feeling. I’d recommend it to anyone”.

Roast lamb rump, a delicious Christmas dish

Award winning celebrity chef, Chris Wheeler – who debuted on Great British Menu and acts as a Quality Standard Mark ambassador – has shared a statement dish to shine on your Christmas dinner table. Chris developed the recipe over time using balanced and delicious flavours, cooking with lamb holding the Quality Standard Mark brings an eating quality butchers and retailers are proud to stock. As an alternative on the Christmas table, nutritionally lamb is naturally rich in protein, low in sodium and provides seven vitamins and minerals* that contribute towards good health and wellbeing. *Lamb is rich in niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and zinc, and is a good source of potassium, phosphorous and pantothenic acid.

Roast rump of lamb topped with a cranberry crust Ingredients 4 lamb rumps (8oz each) 100g fresh breadcrumbs 50g cranberries For the vegetables 4 small carrots 200ml goose fat 1 small Savoy cabbage 100g celeriac 20 new potatoes 1 garlic clove Rosemary & tarragon

For the garnish 12 chestnuts 200g sugar 120g green beans (blanched) 1 tomato 50g butter 150ml red wine jus

Method Blend the cranberries and breadcrumbs for 1 minute, until the breadcrumbs turn red. Season and seal the lamb on both sides, add some rosemary and oven cook for 7 minutes. Top with the breadcrumbs and return to the oven for a further 7 minutes.

Peel, chop and cook the small carrots in a little goose fat for approximately 20 minutes. Check seasoning.

Make the sauce by cutting the tomato into quarters, remove the seeds and dice. Bring the jus to the boil, add the diced tomato and a small amount of chopped tarragon.

Cook the sugar with 200ml water until it forms a golden brown syrup. In another pan, simmer the chestnuts for 20 minutes or until soft. Drain, cool and add to the syrup, simmer for 15 minutes. Remove chestnuts and boil the syrup, add the chestnuts back into the pan and simmer for 10 minutes or until the chestnuts are coated. Leave them in the syrup.

Thinly slice the cabbage and the celeriac. Blanch both in salted water for 3 minutes, drain and toss in the butter. Cook the potatoes, drain and slice, roast in butter with garlic and rosemary.

To Serve Place the potatoes in the middle, add some cabbage, top with the green beans. Slice the lamb into 5 slices and place on top of the cabbage. Add the carrots and chestnuts around the lamb. Pour over the sauce.

The Hills star talks us through designing her glamorous fashion collection Interview Amelia Glean

£65

£89 £69

FROM THE RANGE

CELEB STYLIST

Ellis Ranson The stylist to Ferne McCann, Laura Anderson and Kate Wright tells us where to buy luxury on the high street...

What’s it like styling celebs on the red carpet? ‘Exciting but also nerveracking! It’s such a big lead-up to the day and waiting for the best dressed list is quite tense. But I love creating the look, taking it to the client and making the magic happen. It’s a proud moment as a stylist.’

S

tephanie Pratt has plenty of experience in dressing for the spotlight, thanks to her time on TV shows The Hills and Made in Chelsea.. So, when she gives us her fashion advice, we sit up and listen. Having collaborated with Goddiva for the past three years, which specialises in glam party dresses and special occasion wear, the blonde beauty can certainly be trusted to know a thing or two about dressing for our luxury issue… ‘After I first appeared on Made in Chelsea, a few clothing brands approached my agent and asked if I wanted to collaborate with them,’ she says. ‘I’ve been to design school so I was really excited at the prospect of coming up with my own clothing line. But many of these brands just wanted me to be the name attached to the collection. Then Goddiva agreed to give me full creative control, which was so exciting!’ So, what can Steph tell us about her latest autumn/winter range?

Ellis with good friend and client Ferne McCann

THERE’S SOMETHING FOR ALL ‘As a whole, the collection looks like madness! You can’t describe it because it doesn’t follow a theme. There are long dresses, mini dresses and jumpsuits with art deco detail, Hollywood-inspired stuff, red carpet glamour and fun, flirty dresses. There really is something for everyone and it’s all so hot, cool and chic.’ IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SEQUINS ‘If I could wear sequins every day for the rest of my life, I would. The majority of the collection is so sparkly, which means it’s hard to pick a favourite from this season. My mind changes every day, but at the moment I really like the mini sequin dress in cream.’ I LOVE A JUMPSUIT ‘There are some gorgeous jumpsuits in the collection. The navy option has a bit of fabric around the waist which makes it look tulip shaped, which I love. When I first designed this season’s collection, I invited some

friends over to try them all on, and the jumpsuits were the one item that really stood out. They also look insane on any body type! You put one on and instantly look like you’ve spent thousands of pounds on a designer number.’ GO FOR BLACK AND GOLD ‘The standout piece in my collection has to be the black and gold sequin full length dress. It is by far the most luxurious item, so much so that I’m scared to wear it myself! I have yet to find an occasion good enough for it, as it’s like a piece of art.’ MAKE SURE YOU DRESS UP ‘If I’m going out for dinner or drinks with friends, I usually wear a jumpsuit or a dress, because it’s quite easy to make the transition between daytime and evening. I’ll team this with a pair of heels, or if I’m feeling it, a pair of Vans or Converse. But as a general rule, I prefer to be overdressed rather than underdressed!’ See more of Stephanie’s autumn/winter 2018 Goddiva collection by heading over to goddiva.co.uk

Any key trends this season? ‘The mini party dress is back and it’s your perfect party go-to. Look out for the leather dress – Zara have the perfect staple look. It’s all about tweed, too, which is easy to work into your wardrobe. Opt for jackets, skirts and dresses and mix and match for a real winter look. Animal print is also here to stay – try giraffe or dalmatian!’ Where can we buy luxury on the high Leather-Effect Dress £29.99 zara.com street? ‘Remember that money doesn’t always buy style. Build the base of your wardrobe by mixing items from the high street and add a Black Boucle Jacket designer £55 missselfridge.com shoe or handbag. Zara is fast fashion and ontrend, with a real luxury feel. Try Sandro and Reiss for workwear and for the perfect dayto-night look.’ CS Animal Print Pyjama Shirt Dress £39 topshop.com

KARIS KENNEDY

The TV star and fitness expert on what and who makes her look so sensational Interview Claire Muffett-Reece

Jessica, you look amazing on your social media feeds. What’s the secret to looking after your hair and skin? ‘That’s so kind of you! I try my best to eat well and exercise often, which definitely has an impact on my hair and my skin. I believe what you put into your body is crucial for achieving that ‘inner glow’ that we all want. I also treat my hair to regular conditioning treatments and masks to keep it in good condition – and I do the same with my skin.’ Do you always wear make-up? ‘No, I do have some days off. I believe in balance, so some days I will have a full face of glam, then other days I will go for a more natural look. I also never sleep with my make-up on. I usually have lash extensions in and my brows tinted though, so I feel a little better with no makeup on.’ Do you have regular treatments like facials and massages? ‘Yes, as I think it’s important to pamper yourself every now and then and give yourself time to properly chill. I love to treat myself to a facial and I usually have one every month to keep my skin in the best possible condition. I love massages, too, and find them a great way to unwind and relax. I try to squeeze one in whenever my crazy schedule allows me to, or if I’m at a spa I will always opt for a massage to de-stress.’

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation £42 armanibeauty.co.uk

Beauty Works Pearl Nourishing Argan Oil Shampoo £11.99 beautyworksonline.com

What other beauty treatments do you tend to invest in? ‘I always have my nails done. I think this is so important in my line of work and I’ll have them done around every three weeks to keep my hands and feet looking fresh and pretty. I also have my lashes applied regularly by Seda at Beauty Rehab – they make life so much easier without having to apply coats of mascara. For special events I often have a spray tan, and I also have my brows tinted.’

What about budget hair and beauty buys? ‘My favourite affordable skincare mask at the moment is the Olay Regenerist Overnight Miracle Firming Mask. I simply pop it on before I go to bed and wake up looking and feeling refreshed and glowing. My go-to hair products are from the Beauty Works range, as they work so well with my extensions. The Pearl Nourishing Argan Oil Shampoo is one of my favourites and is super-affordable. It was recommended to me by my regular hair stylist, Jay, and now I’d be totally lost without it.’

‘I don’t mind splurging on expensive skincare if I know it works’

What luxury make-up and skincare products can’t you live without? ‘My top buy has Olay Regenerist got to be Giorgio Overnight Miracle Armani Luminous Silk Firming Mask Foundation. You only £29.99 olay.co.uk need a tiny amount, so the bottle really lasts. I also have a few skincare products that are quite expensive, but I don’t mind splurging if I know they truly work.’

So who do you use for your hair when it comes to photo shoots and red carpet events? ‘I love having my hair styled by Jay Birmingham – he’s my go-to stylist for anything I need to get glammed up for. We’ve become such great friends and I love the way Jay and I get along together – it’s always really fun and he just completely gets me! I love his beautiful bouncy blowdries and the beachy waves he styles my hair in, and it’s always fun when we mix things up and opt for a blonde wig, too.’ celebritysecrets.com

Cara de la Hoyde 42 | BEAUTY

The Love Island winner on looking good from top-to-toe – while running around after baby Fred Interview Claire Muffett-Reece

I’M THE STRAWBERRY LIFT AMBASSADOR ‘Becoming their brand ambassador all started after I’d read up about the treatment, a noninvasive procedure that reduces double chins and facial jowls. I went for a treatment originally, as I wanted my face to look a little bit more contoured. Plus, since having a baby I’ve got a little bit of mummy fat, which I really wanted gone from my chin and jaw. I had it done – and couldn’t believe how good it was!’

FRED TAKES UP ALL MY TIME ‘I’d love to say I enjoy tons of other beauty treatments, but having Fred means it’s harder to get out and treat myself. I apply face masks at home, but I don’t have time for facials and massages. Instead I use any spare moments for eyelash extensions, and I also get my nails done to keep my hands and feet looking nice.’

YOU’VE GOT TO TRY IT TO BELIEVE IT ‘The Strawberry Lift only takes 20 minutes and it’s a really simple and relaxing procedure. You just go in and hold a heated contraption on your chin, then they put some gel on another machine which massages around the areas. I was a bit sceptical about going in, but the before and after pictures were unreal. Because it’s non-invasive you can’t imagine it working… but it really does. I’d recommend it to anyone!’

I BUY AFFORDABLE BRANDS ‘I actually find you can get good results from more affordable brands. I love Color Wow and always use their shampoo and conditioner. When it comes to my skin, I use the Lacura moisturiser from Aldi, and Liz Earle do an incredible Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser.’ CS Cara is the ambassador for Strawberry Lift, the incredible non-surgical treatment that gives you a supermodel jawline. Strengthen and sculpt Enjoy a gym-free Christmas with the latest non-invasive body contouring treatment The festive season is a busy and exciting time for most people with lots of parties and events happening during the lead up to Christmas. For that confidence boost to look and feel your best, non-invasive body treatments are a quick and effective solution for body sculpting, contouring and tightening. Available at the Dr Rakus Clinic in Knightsbridge (opposite Harrods), the latest ‘must-have’ treatment is BTL EMSCULPT to help create the perfect cocktail dress silhouette. As a new and revolutionary non-invasive treatment, not only could it restore your core, sculpt your abs and give your bottom the beautiful and natural shape you desire, it may offer a new and first of its kind solution to help women and men build some muscle and burn fat. Using revolutionary technology EMSCULPT is particularly effective for men and women who wish to really improve their abdominal and buttock tone, core and muscle definition. EMSCULPT uses non-invasive HIFEM (High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) technology to induce supramaximal muscle contractions, which aren’t achievable through voluntary contractions. Put simply, this means that the inner structure of your targeted muscle is remodelled, resulting in what could be effective muscle building and fat burning, without the exertion of going to the gym. It's also the world's first non-invasive buttock lift procedure to lift, shape and firm the bottom. This may allow you to achieve a perky posterior that looks incredible in slim-fitting dresses and skirts. The treatment is safe, effective and has no downtime, meaning you can enjoy the festive activities without the hassle of the gym or an exercise class this Christmas time!

46 | WEDDINGS

We sat down with the newlywed reality star to find out what really went down at her Essex manor house affair

You’re the first Love Island couple to tie the knot. Now you and Alex are husband and wife does that mean a baby’s on the cards? ‘We are new parents… but that’s because we’ve got another puppy! She’s a gorgeous French bulldog called Winnie. We picked her up the day after the honeymoon, so it was straight into toilet training, which meant cleaning up and running around after her. It’s taken my mind off the post-wedding blues!’

so I didn’t end up wearing it. I finally found another that I loved four months before the wedding. It was designed by Enzoani and I had a bespoke veil made, as well as some dress alterations. I took elements from another dress that I’d also seen by Berta Bridal. I actually fell in love with a dress there, but it was £10,000, which I just couldn’t justify spending.’

How sad were you once the big day was over? ‘The day after the wedding I just wanted to sit in bed and cry about the fact I couldn’t do it again. Luckily, Winnie took my mind off it. I imagine a lot of bride and grooms feel a bit deflated once they get back from their honeymoon.’

Was it hard to pick your bridesmaids? ‘Not really, as I’d known all my bridesmaids, apart from Tina [Stinnes], who I met on Love Island, for over 15 years. I cried my eyes out when I saw them all come out in their dresses. I decided to design the bridesmaid gowns myself, going to a dressmaker to get them made. I wanted to make them feel a million dollars – and they looked absolutely incredible on the day.’

You got married at Essex manor house, Gosfield Hall. How did you decide on the venue? ‘I looked at so many online but the smallest thing would put me off, like if the carpet was awful. I was so picky, but when I came across Gosfield it was the only one I actually wanted to go and see. I got butterflies.’

‘I worried about Alex arriving by helicopter’

How come you didn’t wear the gown you picked out on Say Yes To The Dress? ‘I absolutely adored the dress I found on the show, but Alex ended up watching that episode, plus everyone was tweeting about it,

What was the hardest part of your wedding day to organise? ‘Just getting everything sorted. I was in the middle of filming two TV shows, so I was mega busy, but luckily my mum helped out massively and my best friend is a wedding planner, which came in handy. The guest list was pretty hard going, too. In the end we agreed on 100 guests in the day and then another 150 in the evening, which was still a lot!’

Did Alex help at all? ‘Alex helped with the decision-making, but he wasn’t too great at researching anything. He got involved in quite a lot of it when it was almost done – I think that was his tactic all along!’ Did you write your own vows? ‘We had traditional vows for the ceremony, but we also wrote private vows, which we gave to each other on the morning of the wedding.’ Were there any disasters on the day? ‘No – other than me getting drunk and not being able to cut up my food! I was also worried about Alex arriving by helicopter, but it was all fine.’ What was the highlight of your wedding? ‘Walking down the aisle and seeing Alex crying, which every bride wants, and our first dance as husband and wife. It was so memorable – Rebecca Ferguson sang our favourite song.’ What was your honeymoon like? ‘We went to Sri Lanka and saw baby turtles and elephants, before a week in the Maldives. I’ve never seen sand and sea that beautiful before.’

Linda Lusardi The model-turned-photographer tells us all about her wedding to actor Sam Kane back in 1998 Interview Lynn Carratt

BIG DAY LUXURIES

WE’VE BEEN MARRIED 20 YEARS ‘Sam and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary back in August. We said “I do” on the 9th August 1998, which is nice and easy to remember. We had a massive party because it was also my 60th and Sam’s 50th birthday this year. We thought we’d combine the three, so had a big celebration in September at home, with about 70 of our family and friends.’

IAN WEST/PA WIRE/PA IMAGES

WE HAD A CHURCH WEDDING ‘We got married in a little church called St John’s the Baptist in Crews Hill in North London, and our reception was at the Roebuck Hotel in Buckhurst Hill. Sadly it’s been knocked down now, but it was a boutique hotel that we fell in love with. It was just the right size and the food was exquisite. We would have loved to renew our wedding vows there, but instead we’d like to do it in the same church one day.’

OUR DAY WAS PICTURE-PERFECT ‘I’ll never forget marrying Sam in the sunshine. It had been raining all week, but as I got in the car to go with my dad the sun came out – and it was a scorcher for the rest of the day. I’ll also never forget laughing as I walked up the aisle. There was a glass screen as you came in to the church, and Bradley Walsh squashed his face right up against it as I walked past! It took the nerves away and I walked up the aisle killing myself laughing.’

WE STILL FANCY EACH OTHER ‘From the very start Sam and I were always holding hands and telling each other we loved each other – and 20 years on it’s exactly the same! I was married to someone before Sam that wasn’t very nice to me, but with Sam there’s not a day that goes by that he doesn’t tell me how much he loves me and how beautiful I am. We just can’t wait to grow old together.’ CS Linda is an ambassador for SlimFast and will be appearing in Snow White alongside her daughter Lucy at the Playhouse in Weston-Super-Mare

Imogen Thomas The reality star on what luxury gifts she’s hoping will be under her tree

Christmas is just three weeks away – are you frantically buying last-minute gifts? ‘Absolutely – it’s my favourite time of the year! The problem is I struggle to stop buying gifts, to the point I forget what I’ve ordered and often end up with double!’ When do you start your Christmas shopping? ‘I always start early as most of the items my girls want go out of stock so quickly. I hate to disappoint so I’m generally really organised when it comes to Christmas shopping.’ Do you set a budget for Christmas? ‘I do – but I never stick to it. I’m all over the place. I try to but it never works out that way!’ What luxury buys do you think are worth splashing out on for Christmas? ‘I think for me it’s got to be heels and handbags. They always go down well and never disappoint. I love buying luxury items, even if they are not for me.’

‘Christmas is all about the kids – and I want to make sure mine have the best time ever this year’

RICH GOLD/ALAMY

Interview Claire Muffett-Reece

What’s life like as a mum at Christmas? ‘We put the tree up just before my birthday last month, as we like to make the most out of the festive season. We also always go to a panto, as well as seeing Santa. This year we’re booked to go and see the big man at Harrods. We also go for Christmas breakfast at Claridges, which is magical.’

What luxury item couldn’t you live without? ‘I can pretty much live without everything… except my phone. We do everything on our phones these days so it’s very addictive.’

What’s the most luxurious Christmas gift you’ve ever received? ‘My ex flew me and my parents out to Miami, where we enjoyed the most amazing holiday. He always spoiled me. I was also given lots of designer items, which is always nice to receive.’

Do you prefer to give or receive gifts? ‘I love giving, as there’s nothing better than seeing people’s faces when they unwrap what I’ve bought. I also love receiving. Who doesn’t?’

And what’s the most luxurious gift you’ve ever given? ‘A Cartier Love bracelet. It cost an absolute fortune – but I felt so amazing giving it!’

How are you feeling about your first Christmas as a single mum? ‘I’m looking forward to it. Yes, I’m single, but I just have to make the best out of the situation. At the end of the day Christmas is all about the kids – and I want to make sure my girls have the best time ever this year.’

What’s on your wish list this year? ‘I’d love a big gift card to spend at Selfridges or Harrods. I got that last year and it felt like Christmas every week! I probably won’t get it this year now I’m single, though…’

What are you buying your girls this year? ‘Ariana wants a new scooter, so that will be her main gift. Siera wants a new Luvabella doll, which I’ll get along with a new doll’s pram. She’s very girly.’

Finally, if you could give one amazing gift to anyone this Christmas, who would it be? ‘My mum, for being there for me. She has been my rock this year. I couldn’t have gone through the past few months without her.’ CS

PA/DOUG PETERS/INSTAGRAM.COM/HELENFLANAGAN

The Coronation Street star and mum-of-two on breastfeeding in public – and why mums need to support one another Interview Katie Russell

Helen Flanagan tells me she’s breastfeeding her five-month-old daughter Delilah during our phone interview. This is typical of the honesty you can expect from the mum-of-two, who is open on social media about her experience of raising Delilah and Matilda, three, with her footballer fiancé Scott Sinclair.

ON PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS A strong support system was essential during Helen’s second pregnancy due to suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, which causes extreme nausea and vomiting. ‘It’s horrendous,’ says Helen, ‘as all your energy drains away.’ Some mornings she could hardly get out of bed, but the excitement for another baby kept her going. ‘There’s a happy reason that you’re ill, so you’ve just got to keep sight of that.’

‘It’s good for you mentally to get out of the house’

ON BREASTFEEDING Helen’s Instagram is packed with photos of her breastfeeding Delilah in public, as she hopes other mums will follow in her footsteps. ‘It’s about normalising it,’ she explains. ‘Breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world.’ Mums don’t need to worry about covering themselves up, she believes, as most people won’t even take any notice. ‘I don’t feel I should get hot and bothered with loads of blankets. If Delilah’s hungry and needs feeding, then I’m going to latch my baby on.’

ON MUM-SHAMING Just because Helen chooses to breastfeed doesn’t mean she believes every mum should do the same. ‘There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to breast or bottle,’ she says. ‘Mums should feed their baby however they want to – the best thing for the baby is what’s best for the mum.’ ON GETTING OUT AND ABOUT Helen has a network of mum friends and feels it’s important to socialise with others. ‘When you have a baby you tend to spend a lot of time in the house,’ she continues. ‘It’s good for you mentally to get out and spend time with other mums.’

ON PARENTHOOD Helen has been open about her struggles with depression and anxiety, but says having children has improved her mental health. ‘Being a mum brings contentment. When you’re looking after children you haven’t got time to think of anything else because the focus isn’t on you.’ Helen says she wants another baby; with two girls, is she hoping for a boy? ‘As long as the baby’s healthy – that’s all that matters.’ Breastfeeding on-the-go? Try Milky Tee tops with hidden zips, making breastfeeding easy so you can feed your baby sooner. With a range of slogans, the t-shirts look just like a standard tee, so you can breastfeed and look stylish at the same time! milkyteecompany.com

She’s wanted her own lingerie line for the past eight years, and now Helen has launched a range with a twist. Delilah Ruby is a ‘fresh, pretty and sexy’ underwear line for pregnant and nursing women, with bras that make breastfeeding easy. There are three designs currently available, but more will go on sale this month. CS Helen’s maternity lingerie line, Delilah Ruby, is available at delilahruby.co.uk

Find the best fit for your baby At around six months your baby will be ready to start weaning – an exciting journey into new tastes and textures. If you choose to use a follow-on milk, you may want to consider Nannycare, the UK’s first goat milk formula made from fresh, whole New Zealand goat milk. Goat milk, like cow’s milk, in its natural state provides high quality protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals and is allowed under UK and EU regulations to be used for follow-on formulas in the same ways as cow milk is used. While there are these similarities in goat milk and cow milk, there are also some differences in the make-up of the proteins and the fat. These differences may simply suit some babies.

Why use Nannycare follow-on milk? • Nannycare has minimal processing at manufacture, yet nutritionally meets all regulatory requirements • It has a pleasant, mild taste and, like all formula milks, contains Vitamins A and C for immune system support. It also contains calcium and Vitamin D for healthy bone development, and iron to support your baby's cognitive function Note: Goat milk formula is not suitable for those with CMPA (cow’s milk protein allergy), unless it is taken under the direction of a healthcare professional. nannycare.co.uk enquiry@nannycare.co.uk UK helpline: 0800 328 5826 ROI helpline: 1800 937 375

Buy in-store Available from Boots.com, Ocado, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose or from your local pharmacist

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Nannycare® follow-on milk is only suitable for babies from six months, to complement breastfeeding or the start of weaning, as part of a varied and balanced diet. It is not intended as a breast milk substitute and is not suitable for babies under six months. It is recommended that Nannycare follow-on milk is used only on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or other professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on your baby’s individual needs. celebritysecrets.com

The Strictly Come Dancing judge talks lavish parties and tap-dancing with Hugh Grant Interview Katie Russell

e’s best-known as the straighttalking judge on Strictly Come Dancing, but Craig Revel Horwood is not afraid to take centre stage. Currently on the big screen in festive comedy Nativity Rocks!, Craig is also set to reprise his role as Miss Hannigan in Annie from April. He has even managed to find the time to write a new autobiography, In Strictest Confidence. With so much on his plate, would he ever leave his role on Strictly behind? We caught up with the talented star to find out… In your latest autobiography you write about your lavish 50th birthday celebrations at Café de Paris in London. What was that like? ‘I was a flapper and horrified to find I was the only man in drag. No one else did, but there were other women wearing my outfit! I don’t always go out in drag but I thought it would be fun to dress up and not take my 50th so seriously. A lot of people have sit-down dinners and it’s all a bit boring, but I wanted to celebrate life, to kick my heels up and have a great time.’

Speaking of famous faces, what was it like to choreograph Hugh Grant in the dance scene in Paddington 2? ‘I still get star-struck, but I was there for a job – to get him tap-dancing within a month. Once the formal introductions were over, we just got stuck into it. And he was a workaholic, which was brilliant.’ Could you ever choose between choreographing, acting and Strictly? ‘I can’t make that decision because I take work as it comes along

‘At my 50th party, I was the only man dressed in drag. It was fun not to take it so seriously!’

Let’s talk about your newest project, starring in the film, Nativity Rocks! Am I right in saying there was no script? ‘That’s right – it was completely improvised, so you never knew who was going to come in through the door. And the door would open in a scene and it was Celia Imrie!’ celebritysecrets.com

For the full interview, visit celebritysecrets.com

and I like all forms. The mixture spices my life up. Every day is different and every day is a joy, so I’m very lucky.’ So you’d never leave Strictly to focus on any of your other projects? ‘No, darling, they’ll have to drag me out kicking and screaming! I love it. It’s the best Saturday job in the world.’ You’ve got a reputation for being a harsh critic, but you say you’re not like that in real life. Is it all an act? ‘You can liken it to a judge in a murder trial – he has to put a wig on and make huge decisions about someone’s life. He’s not going to go in and just be himself, like he is with his wife and kids, is he? My job is to judge – I’ve got a minute and a half to get to the point. Then after work I am my normal self.’ So what are you really like at home? ‘I’m loving, generous and passionate. I like to have fun, I like to party and I like to have quiet times as well. I like to read, I like to write, and now I like to do gardening.’

NEIL GENOWER

Sounds very showbiz! What would you say has been your most extravagant purchase over your career? ‘It’s got to be my beautiful car, a classic 1973 Triumph Stag. I had to shell out a lot of money to get it going again. It was my first outrageous purchase.’

You’ve previously asked partners to sign NDAs. Has your boyfriend Jonathan signed one? ‘Yes, of course he has! He also gave me one to sign as well, so that was quite fun.’ We hear Jonathan recently moved in with you. Could he be ‘the one’? ‘Most definitely. He’s adorable, honest, genuine and always smiling. He has his own life and I have mine. We live life on a parallel and we occasionally meet in the middle. I think that’s sort of perfect.’ CS In Strictest Confidence by Craig Revel Horwood is published by Michael O’Mara Books (hardback, £20)
