The workshop elective is a combination of Industrial Technology - Metals and Timber. It has been developed to incorporate content related to current and developing technologies. It offers students the opportunity to study the interrelationships of technologies, equipment and materials used by industry and to develop skills through the processes of design, planning and production.

CONTENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Properties and applications of materials associated with metal and timber. Range of tools, machines and processes available in both industrial and domestic settings Safe practices for practical work environments, including risk identification and minimisation strategies. Design and designing including the communication of ideas and processes.

COURSE CONTACTS

• Actively planning and constructing quality wooden or metal practical projects. • Selection and use of a range of timbers or metal for individual projects. • Competently and safely using a range of hand tools, power tools and machines to assist in the construction of projects. • Producing drawings and written reports to develop and communicate ideas and information relating to projects
