The Hulme Sixth Form Scholarship programme represents a unique and tailored approach to fostering educational excellence. Each scholarship is tailored to align with the general areas of interest and potential of the recipients, creating a dynamic, stimulating and academically challenging experience

English and Languages

The Arts and Music Scholarship

Incorporating interests in Creative Arts, Performing Arts & Music

For students passionate about Creative Arts, Performing Arts and/or Music, and already showing signs of excellence in their own practice, the Hulme Arts and Music Scholarship will offer a wide-ranging programme of enrichment opportunities.

These subjects are at the heart of a Hulme education, and students will benefit from multiple opportunities to develop their love of the subject through an extensive cultural offering tailored to their specialism with free tickets and transport around the country.

The scholar will receive specialist materials and equipment to develop their work, mentorship in their field and free tuition in LAMDA or peripatetic lessons. The scholar will have opportunities to take a leadership role in our extensive cocurricular offer

Engineering Scholarship

Incorporating interests in Maths, Physics, Chemistry & Biology

Engineers apply their expertise and know-how to tackle challenges and enhance global living standards. Each engineering discipline presents its own distinct set of obstacles and opportunities.

As an engineering student, you'll be able to engage in compensated field trips, partake in STEM Experience Days, and receive personalised coaching and mentorship for the STEP assessment and Olympiad competitions.

The scholar will attend courses and receive coaching and mentorship. Skilled practitioners will provide tuition and resources for scholars to prepare for their University Admissions Testing. The department will cover the expenses of undertaking the CREST Award

English and Languages Scholarship

Incorporating interests in English and Modern Foreign Languages

Studying English and/or Languages develops a multitude of skills including communication, cultural understanding, cognitive development, problem-solving and attention to detail.

The recipient of the English and Languages Scholarship will have unlimited access to the National Theatre collection platform and a subscription to a magazine of their chosen language.

For scholars with a love of modern foreign languages, there will be access to one week’s Blue Stamp Work Experience in France or Spain during the A Level course, as well as speaking practice with a native speaker. The scholar can also immerse themselves in the riches of our film and home cinema subscription.

Humanities Scholarship

Incorporating interests in History, Geography & Religious Studies

Humanities subjects help students to understand and appreciate the complexities of human societies, landscape and culture. It allows individuals to think critically and creatively about the world around them. The recipient of this prestigious scholarship will receive mentorship and networking opportunities with professionals in their field.

They will receive an annual subscription to an academic journal magazine in their chosen field and attend conferences, as well as gaining support for entry into the Annual Great Debate competition. They will receive mentorship for entry into the Robson History Prize and become a member of the Manchester branch of the Geography Association.

Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science Scholarship

Incorporating interests in Biology and Chemistry

Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science are important fields of study and require of applicants a demanding level of knowledge coupled with extensive work experience.

Here at Hulme, we want to encourage, empower and develop the very best students in this field and we have years of experience in doing this successfully.

The recipient of this scholarship will be nurtured through support and mentorship, and have access to outstanding work experience opportunities and individualised aspiring courses. The costs of undertaking the CREST award will be met by the department.

PPE Scholarship

Incorporating interests in Business Studies, Economics, Law, Politics & Religious Studies

The PPE scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate a commitment to law, politics, economics or religious studies.

The critical thinking skills and precision of argument required to flourish in these subjects are central to a Hulme education. The recipient of the award will become a member of the mock trial club and take on a leadership role in the organisation of the team.

The scholar will gain work experience with a reputable law firm or similar in their field of interest, and be the recipient of a regular subscription to an academic journal or online programme in their chosen field They will receive support and mentorship for entry into the RA Butler Essay writing competition.

Our PPE scholar will be given the opportunity to take part in the “Young Investment Banker Weekend” organised by INvestin, a leading training provider for young people.

Sports Scholarship

We take Sport seriously at Hulme and all our students have access to this important provision. The Hulme Sports Scholarship will offer something even more, not least in the form of specialist sports coaching, free gym membership, strength and conditioning training, and professional advice on fitness and nutrition.

The scholar will also be in receipt of physiotherapy, specialist coaching and mentorship and will be entered into an elite athlete programme. They will also be entered into national competitions and provided with a range of specialist equipment and tickets to regional sporting events.

The Hulme Sports Scholar will play a prominent role in the life of the Sports department and be expected to take part in the school’s extensive Sports extra-curricular programme while, in return, receiving individual mentoring from one of our team of highly qualified teachers.

STEM Scholarship

Incorporating interests in Maths, Design Technology, Physics & Computer Science

Awarded to those students who demonstrate exceptional interest in the fields of Maths, Physics, Computer Science and/or Design Technology, this scholarship will give the recipient access to a bespoke mentoring programme to further develop their love of the subjects

STEM subjects are constantly evolving, and the scholar will benefit from access to workshops run by those who are at the top of their game in these fields. The successful applicant will be awarded paid-for field courses, participation in the STEM Experience Day at Russell Group University and a place on the STEM Futures online courses

Depending on the field of interest, the scholar will receive specific equipment and materials necessary to develop their love of learning, including laptops, graphical calculators, STEP training and coaching and access to the UKMT mentoring programme.
